Hi guys,
I've generally had success in playing my mkv files on the galaxy S up to 720p. However I found files encoded with the latest libraries libmatroska 1.1.0 and libeml 1.2.0 just do not play. Does anyone know why this might be?
I am using mvideoplayer which does use hardware acceleration as I found rockplayer would not play my 720p mkv files.

I have used both Vegant and Latest TNT 2.2 and both lag while I play 720P .mp4 encoded videos downloaded from youTube, I'd like to know if its a software or hardware limitation? Does anyone else have the same problem with 720 .mp4 files from youtube? Does it lag (as in audio and video lose sync - audio plays faster than video).
ive incoded some 1080p bluerays using handbrake normal preset H.264. container mp4 also had to do this with 1080p .mkv files couldn't even get them to play otherwise. after that they played great on my tablet
The Tegra 2 chipset cannot handle h264 encoded as high profile. Main profile works fine. I know this confuses some people, but grab the excellent "mediainfo" tool (http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en) and you can see how your file is encoded.
MP4 containers seem to work best, although I believe Rockplayer can play MKV's with hardware acceleration.
seen this posted over NS forum and im aware you guys dont have playback with hardware support on a bunch of video formats yet

i read description unfortunately no x264 support just yet but its in the works for tegra 2 users but this might only be guys if you're still on 2.2
becasue 2.3.3 has x264 support

for heck of it try uninstalling and reinstalling it happened to me also

the file you're using probably isn't supported i just tried WMV and just force closes also

are you still on 2.2?
If so i said in OP x264 was introduced into 2.3.3
MKV movies you get online are usually x264 with MKV container
MKV is just the container it plays files within MKV just fine

test MKV(x264) with DTS audio and plays fine
also tested 3.4GC 720pAVI with ac3 and plays fine also with hardware support

so far , I've been trying every player I could find , the one which play the AC3 sound got bad video or can't play .srt subtitles.
the ones that support .srt dont play sound.
basicly I live in Israel , I'd like to watch movie with Hebrew subtitles.
I'd love to be able to download movie and play it as-is without re-encoding it which is time consuming.
is there any solution ? or any working player ?
Have you tried MX Player yet? After playing with this player for a while, I decided to remove all other players.
MX Player is all I need. It play 720p mkv, sub (.srt and in .mkv). It has S/W decoding and H/W decoding...

Try diceplayer.
diceplayer can play 720p High + DTS + MKV + SRT/SMI subs
If sub charset encoding is problem.
convert your subtitle file to UTF-8
I have problem with playing 720p mkv files on my P3100(stock 4.0.4) i`ve used stock videoplayer for most of non hd videos but if i use it for 720p mkv the tab resets itself. I tried Mxplayer but with the same result. The only player seems to work with HW acceleration is VLC. Does anybody faced similar problem?
