Hi,
I see a BatteryMonitor service which is running in my phone. It comes back after killing it.
I am not sure what it does else than sitting there idle and it actually seem to do nothing. I disabled it from startup and android Battery Use section seems to be still functioning. I couldnt find any information about it by googling either.
Does anybody know what it does? Is it safe to disable?
Also, is it safe to remove VSuiteApp.apk from /system/apk so it wont start at boot and stay? I never use it anyway and often it is a nuisance...
Thanks,

Hi, I have a g1 that has suddenly stopped working - when I start it I see the t-mobile screen and then it switches to the android screen and just stays like that and doesnt start.
It stalled while making a call and I was not able to restart it.
I have tried wiping everything from recovery console (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=566669) and re-flashing my phone with my old firmware (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=811620)
I don't know what's next here - can anyone please help?
some more background:
I had the phone for two years here in the US and have traveled out side of the country with it for several trips with no problems whatsoever, however, this phone I have given to my niece who doesnt live in the US.
The reason i'm saying this is that maybe the cause is a radio problem of some sort...
Let me know if you think of something coz I really don't know what do to next
Thanks,
e.
First of all, wrong section.. (Please post in Q&A)
If you had poked around and used the search feature, i'm pretty sure you can find what you are looking for
but anyhow, you need to flash another rom (via recovery) assuming you have already rooted because you somehow corrupted the system partition.
Thanks for the reply, I tried using cyanogen's mod but it didnt get me anywhere, I will try different mods but could this be a radio issue? is there a way to check that?
p.s. I did a thorough search of the forums and that's how i did all the things b4 posting but then I got stuck...
Hi, sorry I posted in the wrong section, just noticed what you mean.
Can any of the admins move this thread to q&a (or can I do it myself somehow)?
Data?

My friends phone is doing something extremely similar. He gave it to me to play with to make sure he wasn't mad, and it was actually the phone having issues.
Upon playing with it for a few hours problems started to occur. It would randomly shut off, then not want to reboot unless left sitting. It would get after the ROM screen and then shut off. I noticed that that a quick was to crash it was to start browsing the Internet over Wi-Fi. After a few pages loading and moving around the pages as they loaded the poor phone would just turn off.
Since he is using another phone in the mean time, I got his G1 without a SIM card. I was playing games on it, poking around in applications and more and the phone wouldn't turn off. I wasn't till I enabled Wi-Fi that problems started happening. I'm not sure if the Wi-Fi driver is part of the baseband unit or not but it seems that the more data the phone uses (3G or Wi-Fi) heightens its chance of turning off.
To get the phone to boot again I either have to take the battery our for a few minutes or leave it off for a while. Upon which time it will book as if nothing happens.
I also noted that every time it boots it shows an exception error related to "gapps" and you have to click force quit. His phone is running CyanogenMod 4.2. Also the Home key doesn't function, but this is software related because it can turn the screen on.

I successfully rooted my EVO yesterday. I was using the OverclockWidget to underclock my EVO to preserve battery life. This was working until I took the battery out to use the microSD to transfer some pictures from my old phone. When I turned my EVO back on, the OverclockWidget settings stopped saving. I put it down to 652800 max and it is almost constantly running at the full 998 unless idling. I tried re-running unrevoked but it said my firmware was too new (Even though it worked yesterday and there were no updates). I then tried to restart the whole process by flashing the drivers to my phone again but the device manager on my computer wouldn't find my EVO when I put it into HBOOT mode. I assume I may have to unroot, then reroot but I don't really want to unless it's necessary.
Can someone please advise me on how to fix this? Thank you in advance.
EDIT: I did try reinstalling OCWidget and using other overclocking apps. None of this worked. I did not try SetCPU but I don't want to pay to buy it
I don't like double-posting but I'm going to bump this because I'd really like to know what the best route of action would be. Please give me some suggestions
EDIT: Well I think I'm going to stop worrying about this now. While I can't over/underclock my device anymore, I think I'm okay with factory settings because I've found the real way to save battery. For anyone who would like to know I've just been using the "Mobile Data" widget supplied by HTC under "settings" widgets. I flip off the mobile data when I'm not using it. If anyone thinks this is too bold get JuiceDefender and it will turn off your Mobile Data when you lock your phone and turn it back on for you when you unlock it. It will also turn back on in user-set intervals while locked so your apps can sync/update.
Thanks anyways though.
I am no longer using the g2x as a cell phone.
I am keeping in service, however, as a PMP. I like the sound quality, and because the DAC on my new phone is vastly inferior and noisy, I kept my g2x for music.
However, I removed the SIM card and now the battery is drained as the phone seems to still be searching for a signal.
Is there any way to mitigate the battery losses or disable cell function altogether without activating airplane mode?
Activating airplane mode effectively kills battery stats and leaves me vulnerable to a dead battery.
Thank You for your help. :good:
I would google search what system apps are responsible for cell/radio function. Wouldn't simply removing them do the trick?
I see. Thanks for the help.
Exactly how would I go about doing this? I'm no expert, by any means. Thanks.
Well, you would need access to your System/App directory. Which means the phone needs to be rooted. Are you rooted?
EDIT- After a quick google search I came across this solution.
"Rename phone.apk to phone.apk.bak and telephony.apk to telephony.apk.bak thus disabling these two packages. You have to reboot your phone to finalize the changes. If it doesn't work, you should remove the .bak from each file name and they should be available again."

Hey Pain, still rocking the G2x?
Long time no see. I'm back!
Still rocking the g2x man. Heading over to the Nexus 5 soon though!
Ever since I started using custom ROMs on this phone, I've been occasionally taking it out of my pocket or off the charger to find that it's rebooted itself on me for no apparent reason, even if I haven't touched it in hours. But when I check, last_kmsg just doesn't exist in any of the usual locations, so I have no way to find out why. Am I missing something? Is there any way to enable it on this phone?
Good Morning/Afternoon everyone.
Before i start, i want to point that i've tried a lot of stuff before being hopeless & turning to this forum.
I have a SM-J700H. yesterday i wanted to change my phones lock screen password, so of course i did so, the problem is, i think i made it wrong, i missclicked somewhere or i don't know, twice, & now my phone is locked. i dont know what to do nor how to deal with that. sadly the Usb Debugging is i think turned off ? i'm not sure. Adb doesn't seem to find it. i tried the google location stuff, it's turned by default on this phone. i don't know what to do, i don't want to hard-reset , as i have important data, photos, etc.
If anyone's could help. thanks
