Hi,
There are several ways to do this now.
Look HERE
HERE
Or use THIS TOOLKIT
Or THIS ONE
Thank you guy, even if i've already seen these threads.
The fact is my bootloader is locked but i've got the S-OFF.
Unfortunately, i still cannot install a recovery in order to root my Sensation XE.
I should have been more clearly: i just want to root my phone in order to make a backup with titanium backup (i don't want to lose my apps data).
Then, i would install an older RUU to backup my phone and S-OFF with revolutionarry.
So, there is an other way to root my phone (permanent root ain't necessary).
I dont wan't to lose my warrantly with HTC dev unlock either.

Download this: http://tinyurl.com/ICSHboot
Download my tool. It's in my signature. Follow all the instructions from the thread, but don't run any file.
Go to the tools folder inside the main folder of my tool, & paste the jb_hboot.zip file that you downloaded.
From inside the tools folder, run the file boot.bat
Once done, reboot to bootloader.
You should now have *JuopunutBear* instead of *locked*
If you only want root, then just follow all instructions from my tool thread and run the menu.bat as stated in the instructions. Make the appropriate choices & you'll have permanent root.

check my one click ROOTING TOOL present in the guide in my signature ..it just requires SOFF..no recovery needed too..and bootloader status doesn't matter
just connect your phone ..and then double click ..the required file(root.bat)
that's all you are rooted
EDIT:you can even use kgs tool for the same process too
It's getting wierd...
@ganeshp Hi man! I checked your thread yersterday and i didn't see that there was a rooting tool!
Unfortunately, the process worked perfectly ("EVERYTHING DONE..ROOT SUCCESS...ONE FINAL REBOOT NOW") but titanium backup or other apps which required root tell me that I'm not rooted..
I noticed that each time super user refuse root/super user access to these apps, i don't know. And yes i tried to change superuser automatic answer to "allowed" or "ask me".
@kgs1992 Thanks you. I tried it but when i launch boot.bat it tells me "waiting for device" (i tried to plug my phone in HTC sync mode too).
So then i tried to root with your tool and even if it tells me that the process succeed, titanium backup tell me that i'm not rooted.. Same problem as i said to ganeshp.
I'm a little but confuse now

Well if SU installed, then you are rooted.
You need to reboot to bootloader before running boot.bat
Yes, SU is installed but it does'nt grant root access to my applications!
I tried to run boot.bat, the process failed.
I dont know what is the problem now..

Did you download jb_hboot.zip and put it in the tools folder before running boot.bat? I linked you to it before.
Yes i did, i followed exactly what you told me to do.
By the way your URL is wrong, so i downloaded jb_hboot.zip from here http://unlimited.io/hboot-downloads/ (i took the pyramid-ICS one).

Yes, it's ICSboot, not Hboot, sorry.
Anyway, it should have worked. are you sure it didn't?
try opening this zip (attached) & putting this boot.bat in the same folder and running it.
It worked! Thank you so much!
I can see that "Juopunut Bear" above the S-OFF
I'm gonna try to root and install recovery now. If i have an other problem i'll make a double-post in order to up the topic. Otherwise i will just edit this one.
Thank you again for your help, your damn great guys

Hi,
I was wondering if there was any way to get a password from the standard android browser as i have forgotten what the password is but it is still remembered by the phone. Are there any plugins I can get or anything like that? And root apps that might do it for me?
Thanks in advance

I don't understand in the thread - what do I have to do?
1, You must be rooted.
2, Install SQLite Editor from Play Store
3, Open app, wait until all apps are listed
4, Tap Internet -> webview.db -> password
5, All your passwords stored in default web browser should be listed there
I just tested it on my Desire S, and found my stored facebook password
Thanks, what is the easiest way to root my htc desire s? S-on 2.3.5 and latest hboot i think
If you are not rooted yet, it's irrelevant to root now, because you will loose all your data during downgrade and rooting.
Check my signature btw, i was also downgrading from latest RUU, S-ON, LOCKED, same as you.
But you have no reason to do it now, because as i said, you will loose your data.
Maybe temprooting and then installing the mentioned app would work.
But im not sure.
It's worth try in my oppinion. By temprooting you will not loose anything. After rebooting the phone, it will be in it's previous state, untouched...
As i said, check link in my sig.
The 1st step, but don't push misc_version, you don't need to when you are not going to downgrade.. Push just zergrush, or tacoroot, depending on your SW version.
Better wait for someone more experienced, as im still prety new here, and don't want to make brick of your phone.
Thanks - but I think I have found a guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1390496 What do you think to this?
Big No No, from me.
Someone in that thread commented and said, that you have first to unlock your phone via htc-dev unlock. Unlock the phone officialy via htc site and according to their manual steps.
What does it mean to you ? You have to put your IMEI on the website, so they're absolutely sure, that you have been trying something with your phone and you loose your warranty. There's no step back.
Temprooting on the otherside, as the title say is temporary. After reboot, it's gone. In my oppinion - ideal for you. But i don't have unrooted desire s to test if SQLite will work.
---------- Post added at 07:16 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:10 AM ----------
Alternatively you can try this. Also picked from mentioned thread.
No rooting or anything. Just don't forget to turn USB debugging on.
1,Setup AndroidToolsSDK on your PC

2, Proceed following steps

I thought that you mean this as "fully rooted".
Since not just flash custom recovery and then use SuperOneClick to push Su and Superuser app, or search for a flashable zip. This will give you root.

Because with the stock you will not be able to flash the su binary. Custom recovery has root access by default, contrary to your current one and the OS itself.
You can use zergrush from the guide you posted above but this approach involves more manual steps. Anyway each if the mentioned ways will give you the same result it is up to you to decide what will be easier to do for yourself
Btw Superoneclick automates zergrush and the su flashing so search for it. I think this is the most straightforward method

Yes, sorry for the messy explanation but there are a really lot of ways to root your phone.
If you use the Superoneclick you will permanently root your device with one button click. This is an application for Windows, just search xda for it
Edit: you bootloader should be unlocked to do this, so I hope you did not relocked it

I just successfully rooted my zte groove last night.
Step one: download ministroII.apk and poot.apk to sd card.
Step two: Must do it --> Format your phone. Backup contacts etc if you want.
Step three: install both ministroII and poot and start poot.
Step four: Download the additional libraries.
Step five: CRITICAL : restart phone. If you dont poot will give error.
Step six: upon startup run poot, and hit "click here to poot"
Phone will restart upon success. Congrats your now rooted. There is no custom recovery so be careful if you mess up your phone you will not be able to reflash a rom.

Poot is developed for rooting android phones, it's apk contains the superuser binary. You really shouldn't root your phone if your not aware of all this.

uninstalled super user from my device
rooted the phone with motochooper
Installed superSu (when you root with motochopper you will already have super user installed on your device but the binaries were not installed so instead what i did was installed SuperSu of chanfire so that i will get a conflict message and the chainfire will unstall the default super user and update the binaries for me.

Almost the same problem as above but not really
Hello guys! My name is Vlad, this is my first post here and this is my first time trying to root a phone. I got a little problem so I would really appreciate if you could guide me a bit step by step out of it.
I have a Sony Xperia L phone and I have tried to root it using an app that uses Motochopper exploit, downloaded from this link:
htt p:// ww w.4shared.com/zip/6WyYYjpCce/Xperia_L_ROOT .html
delete the spaces in order for the link to work. Sorry for not respecting the rule but there would be no other way to show what I used
It seems to work but I have an error that occurs at the end:
"Rooting phone...
This may take a few minutes.
Failure.
Cleaning up...
Exploit complete.
Press enter to reboot and exit."
I have tried the ideas mentioned until now: reboot, reinstall, update, etc. but nothing seems to work. Any idea to help me please?
P.S. I am not trying to offend anyone by saying this but if I need to use some program to install something complicate please explain me as I am a beginner into this.
Thank you!

There is no way you can get back TA partition if you lost the backup too. But its just for some warranty and DRM purposes. It shouldn't affect the user experience in general. As for Whatsapp and other updates, its completely unrelated to rooting or TA partition.

Hi,
I am following this link to root my new note 5 using the following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo.../t-mobile-sm-n920t-root-methods-info-t3183805
Everything is fine until from step 5, I realized that the kernel, and the rest of the files, when trying to browse them from the phone on recovery mode and flash them, the extension will not even be read by my phone. Therefore I dont know what to do. the post said the extension is supposed to be zip but there are in in only two img files, which when connected to the phone, won't even be recognize. so how can i flash the phone?
please help,
Yann

Now I think I do have a clear idea o the issue: I followed all the steps this time
however, SuperSu would pop out at the end and when I check: root access denied: I think the previous root that I did not perform right, is the issue somehow. Is there any way to get rid of it or go around it?

Did you flash a kernel? If you did then download super su from the market and try TiBu again. The error means that TiBu was not given super user permissions. So either you dont have a rooted kernel or you dont have SU installed to grant the requested permissions. OR you have both and just didnt grant SU permissions when asked.

I did flash a kernel , and any other softwares provided under this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...easy-steps-n920t-aoge-odin-twrp-root-t3187422
Next, what do you mean by Supersu from the market? What is TiBu also?
Thanks for your contribution.

The market has a super user app for managing SU permission requests, you may already have it. It will look like a pound sign "#" and say super user or SU. If you dont have that app you need to download it. The developer is named chainfire.
TiBu is short hand for Titanium Backup
Waouh I am learning a lot from you guys. O, I will be looking for that SU with the # sign. It is definitely not what I currently have.
by this sentence: "OR you have both and just didnt grant SU permissions when asked." : do you mean that the phone may have already been rooted? without SU telling me? because honestly, I dont know whats wrong.

If you already have SU then you would have been prompted to grant super user permission by a pop up dialog. If you mistakenly select deny or wasn't paying attention (it has a time out that will select deny but only temporarily if no user input is selected). If you mistaken selected deny then you would need to open the SU app and remove the TiBu entry, restart TiBu and select allow.. That is only IF you have the Super User (SU) app installed..
OMG! YOU ARE GENIUS! THAT WAS THE ISSUE.no it says that I do have root access! finally. Hyper shell (FAST): YES. However Fast/Auto App Install: No. THANK YOU THANK YOU

Hi, I just realized that I am not done yet. More new issue with the phone. It looks I did not do something right or one of the softwares is not correct: after we rooted the phone yesterday, IO had it unlocked with the help of stilfilz. However, ever since , when I make phone calls, the phone would go off by itself after a while.
Have you heard of previous similar mistakes? If yes, any ideas about how to fix it?

You need a different kernel. You should give me the model number of your phone and I will point you to the most recent arter kernel. I am assuming you are rooted with noble which was known for kernel panic during phone calls which caused reboots

I'm using this kernel from the original android development section for this phone.
