[Q] Root failure? - Samsung Mesmerize

I trying to do a fresh install of EC10 cwm & root. It appears that the rooting process of the flash (from odin) isn't rooting. There is no SU app in the apps.
So I can't get my phone to boot after I flash PnP v.5 from CWR. I've also tried z4root, I've read it's not 2.2 compatible, which fails. I've tried super 1 click and keep getting "unhandled exception" errors.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanx, you guys are the best!
I could pursue the SOC issue more but it getting late, but I've never had a rooting issue from a rooted package before.

I would suggest using odin to flash to a full stock EC10, then try flashing EC10 PnP 0.5, hopefully that clears up any problems your having.

This is what I had to do when I had that same exact issue a while back.

Resolved!
I guess I never ran across this before, probably because I never started from a stock flash. For some reason I missed the fact the kernel is over written, and custom roms don't, (Thanx ChromWolf for the glossary!!!!!!).
Apparently a voodoo or non-stock kernel is needed for custom roms duh!
I guess I always flashed from custom kernel to custom kernel.
(I wonder what I did the 1st time many months ago)
Wow what an awesome learning experience, This is really starting to get fun!
You guys are doing great work! I'll resist to use the IRC to the very end, because
the answers are in here somewhere. Thanks to guys like ChromWolf & bdemartino who are working there butts off to keep all this info organized.
And of course phidelt82 and the rest of the devs, for giving me a new hobby!
THANK YOU!!!

Rom Help.

Hello,
i recently installed froyo and i just rooted my phone, but im experiancing a lot of lag after the root. Ive been searching and i have been looking on the forums but what ive gotten so far is to Rom my phone to fix it.. a lot of people keep recommandign different roms saying cog, or vibrant hybrid, etc.. but as i was doing research for people who might have the same problem i saw that someone said something about a lagfix? idk whats a good rom how do i get this lagfix.i dont know if thats in the rom or not but some help would be really nice. any suggestoins or anything, ohh and i NEED to have tethering enabled so if anything takes it away please let me know.
thank you
Most of the popular roms on the development section have setirons kernel which adds a custom clock work mod recovery to your phone. With that kernel you can install a bunch of different lag fixes depending on what you prefer. I am running mikey's doc rom with the ext 4 lagfix. Check out his rom. All you need is clock work recovery since you're already rooted and on froyo.

you said you are running this one correct?http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=818030
Yeah thats the rom I am running. I even got hsupa to work but you don't have to do that of don't want to. Follow the instructions and you will be set. Remeber to back up all your data with titanium backup and take precaution when following the steps.
Fyi if you brick your phone I am not responsible. (Doubt you will though)
Have fun.

Voodoo lagfix kernel for I897UCKB1

Guys:
Don't follow any instruction to flash this kernel on your captivate running official froyo I897UCKB1. I tried all advices and ended up bricking my phone. Luckily the unbricking method you can find.in xda saved me. But, i had to flash.back to JF6 (2.1 eclair stock) using odin3 and then went back to kies mini to get the official froyo. I am writing this for people who like to use stock froyo instead of any.custom roms. I had to waste my time because.some.people suggested a few methods without knowing it for sure. Most suggestions are great in this forum (thats how i used serendipity.for a while). But, some or one of the bad suggestions can brick your phone real bad. So, ask as many questions as possible before going with a suggestion you see. Preferably look at how to videos. If there are none out there. Then, WAIT!

It does work. Odin works fine. Also if you recovered your phone it was not bricked. A brick is a brick.

Then xda should remove the link for "how to unbrick" link. Brick is of two types. Soft and hard. What you mean is hard. What I meant b was soft. But, even soft.can cause serious issues. Post a video if you can. That will help a lot.

I did the sgs kernel flasher method. Heard voodoo voice prompts at reboot. In the end it said "lagfix deleted". I saw the same stock kernel after that. So, what am I missing. I did everything as suggested. Didn't miss anything. I think there is something missing here. SERIOUS. I HAVE ROOTED, FLASHED CUSTOM ROMS BEFORE. I think this is.crazy.

You can. Flow this intruction:
- Copy 2.3.5 rom to SDCard
- Go to download mode
- Open Odin 3, Plug you phone to PC (Com go to yellow)
- Feed boog kernel (Search in Captivate development thread) in PDA slot
- Start
- Go CWM --> factory reset data --> install zip file

[Q] Do I reflash and what steps do I take?

I have had 2.1 rooted with voodoo for 2.1 for a while not, but am getting forced closes and automatic restarts while I am in the middle of a task or even when just charging overnight. I have heard reflashing fixes the issue. I am not sure the steps needed to reflash. Do I need to undo lagfix or can I just reflash without doing anything?
I have tried getting question answered in fascinate forum where our 2.1 voodoo kernal is located, but no one has answered for over a day. I do have a mesmerize and is mesmerize kernal.
Thank you in advance.
Anyone? Do I need to delete voodoo to re flash voodoo?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Yeah you should always disable voodoo before reflashing, but you should update to froyo eb16. It is much better.

how to disable voodoo
Inside cwm is an option for voodoo. Inside that option is the option to disable voodoo.

did you read the noob's guide to flashing yet? or looked at the bible thread with other guides in it? There is a lot of information here, and it would take a long time to type out everything each time someone asks how to flash a rom.
There are basically 2 ways to flash your phone. ODIN and CWM. find the guides for each, and read them. Each rom has it's own instructions to flash the rom, so you'll need to follow that.
also, if your phone is stock, you don't have voodoo enabled. That only comes on a custom kernel, so you don't need to worry about that your first time. If you want to flash a gingerbread rom, like Valhalla, you need to make sure you flash a factory leak first, to get the proper boot loaders. look for the guides on flashing gingerbread for this.
good luck
I too am very new to this whole thing. Have been playing with new roms for the last 10 weeks or so and Valhalla 1.1 is the most stable one yet. I would totally recommend it, I am going to play with it for a few days then try out the new FTW. Since you are new I will say everything you need is in this sight somewhere, just be sure to read before you post... The Devs are awesome, I wish my knowledge of Android was equal to 1/100 of theirs.
