I have had 2.1 rooted with voodoo for 2.1 for a while not, but am getting forced closes and automatic restarts while I am in the middle of a task or even when just charging overnight. I have heard reflashing fixes the issue. I am not sure the steps needed to reflash. Do I need to undo lagfix or can I just reflash without doing anything?
I have tried getting question answered in fascinate forum where our 2.1 voodoo kernal is located, but no one has answered for over a day. I do have a mesmerize and is mesmerize kernal.
Thank you in advance.
Anyone? Do I need to delete voodoo to re flash voodoo?

Yeah you should always disable voodoo before reflashing, but you should update to froyo eb16. It is much better.

phidelt82 has just posted the steps to get to EB16 installed using ODIN for the mesmerize.
First great job phidelt82!
I have already installed EA11 stock+root+recovery and have the EA11-voodoo kernel installed and working on my mesmerize.
Following your guide are we to disable lagfix before any of this and reboot right?
Doesn't matter

This will be the same as for ea11, everything done to your phone will be completely erased when you go to eb16.

Always disable lagfix as a precaution. Especially when you are doing an Odin flash.
To re-enable lagfix do I just reflash the voodoo.zip? I tried enabling it through CWM but no dice.

To re-enable the lagfix, just go back in to recovery, select voodoo, then enable lagfix and reboot.

Since the partition is written as ext4 then you are just flashing it with rfs without converting it back. I can't say that it's going to happen every time, but it's possible that you can cause problems that are really hard to fix. From what I've seen it really sucks.

So I was just browsing in the Fascinate's android development forum and saw this title: EC10 Voodoo Kernel.
They haven't been heavily tested, but IRC seems relatively content with them. Mind you, these were never meant for the Fascinate, but the Mesmerize.

So I hope these do work, I'm doing a nandroid backup now to test it I will update once done.

Update: I just installed the Voodoo kernel, cleared my dalvik and cache, and rebooted. It took forever and there is an silver "android" logo ontop of our USCC banner (if your still running the stock boot animation) but it boots just fine I have had no boot loops, I reenabled Voodoo lagfix and got the following scores with a slight response speed up.
Quadrant: 1601, 1435, 1569, 1559
I'm going to leave it the scores are like 150 more than before so I guess I'll take it until the full Voodoo kernel built off source comes out.
Its the same on we have already just for fascinate
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
What explains the slight increase in quadrant numbers?
Swyped using USCC Mesmerize
those are the same scores Ive been getting with the old voodoo installed on EC10
The same for me
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I see I was only getting like late 1300s early 1400s. Never mind I guess lol.

jt has been busy tonight so I'm sure he will release the true voodoo soon (= It looks like he's build a few tests so anytime now..
I can barely wait lol.

Do not flash stuff from their forum. The EC10 voodoo kernel was built to be generic for this specific purpose, plus it was built off of our source so it works fine. IF you start flashing their other kenel's you will drop off us cellular's service and be in a whole heap of trouble, and no nandroid's don't always bring you back to normal.
be patient and only flash what's been recommended, if you start going off the chart's don't expect help from us as we have warned you .
EC10 voodoo kernel posted by JT yesterday/today does in fact work on our phone, we're not sure if the market will see us as verizon or not but it seems everything else is compatible. Stay tuned!
well good thing this is the only thing i jumped on then. thanks for the heads up as always greatly appreciated!
The only stuff NOT built from the mesmerize source drop is the rfs drivers. Feel free to use the kernels folks

It is generic so it will work for the Mes as I'm sure you saw in jt's earlier post.

I trying to do a fresh install of EC10 cwm & root. It appears that the rooting process of the flash (from odin) isn't rooting. There is no SU app in the apps.
So I can't get my phone to boot after I flash PnP v.5 from CWR. I've also tried z4root, I've read it's not 2.2 compatible, which fails. I've tried super 1 click and keep getting "unhandled exception" errors.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanx, you guys are the best!
I could pursue the SOC issue more but it getting late, but I've never had a rooting issue from a rooted package before.
I would suggest using odin to flash to a full stock EC10, then try flashing EC10 PnP 0.5, hopefully that clears up any problems your having.

Resolved!
I guess I never ran across this before, probably because I never started from a stock flash. For some reason I missed the fact the kernel is over written, and custom roms don't, (Thanx ChromWolf for the glossary!!!!!!).
Apparently a voodoo or non-stock kernel is needed for custom roms duh!
I guess I always flashed from custom kernel to custom kernel.
(I wonder what I did the 1st time many months ago)
Wow what an awesome learning experience, This is really starting to get fun!
You guys are doing great work! I'll resist to use the IRC to the very end, because
the answers are in here somewhere. Thanks to guys like ChromWolf & bdemartino who are working there butts off to keep all this info organized.
And of course phidelt82 and the rest of the devs, for giving me a new hobby!
THANK YOU!!!
I made the edits for this to use on EC01 mesmerize.
Per the norm, I am not responsible if you jack your phone up trying to use this. I have done nothing to this other then edit it per dfgas's instructions to use on my Mez.

Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Yes ec01 radio first.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Still didn't work for me
You also need an EC10 source Kernel
sent from my SFC+FIX, EC01, voodoo enabled, Samsung Mesminate.
OK... So, let me get this straight... This is what I need to do to flash this:
1. Disable Voodoo
2. Flash the stock Mesmerize EC10 image
3. Flash the EC01 radio using Odin (Flash it to where? PDA? Phone?)
4. Flash the Evil 3.3 rom
I feel like there's something missing here, or is there a kernel built-in?
Flash the radio to pda in ODIN.

Go to settings>applications. Choose app that is FC, and clear data. Email and keyboard need to have this done or they willcontinuously force close.
The original thread explains this. Also there is another update out. I'm probably not going to be able to fix it till next weekend. If anyone wants it let me know and I will try to do it sooner.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I'm the same tried 2 different ones and all I get is first time it attemps to boot up with losts of fc's the goes into a boot loop.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
Go to > settings> applications > manage applications. Select all apps tab. Find app that is force closing. Select it and then clear data. One this is done it should stop force closing. Email and keyboard did it to me. Cleared data and no more problems.

I flashed this but I'm stuck in a boot loop and when I have gotten it to boot it constantly force closes different apps... Do I need to flash a kernel or is one included? I think that's where I'm stuck.

Make sure to disable lagfix before flashing anything!

If you have a Titanium backup, one could restore user apps & data after adding back your Google accounts. Its a little inconvenient, but doable. Otherwise restore your nandroid backup.

What I have seen that works to fix this for some people is to install v3 and boot up. Then go back to recovery and install v5. I don't know what is causing the issue as of yet, but I am working on it. Also, doing a wipe data/factory reset will not work. One more piece of bad news, don't bother with a backup on v5. If you restore to it, you will just fall into an FC hell. The only thing that really works well is having a v3 backup and flashing v5, then using Titanium backup to get all of your apps and settings back in place.
Sorry for the problems, but it's one of the things that happens when you try to bring these things forward. Bumps in the road.
I'm running v3 right now. And tried it, it didn't work.

I flashed v.5 and it didn't remove any stock apps. I flashed it over jt1134's 4/15 Voodoo ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010102).
I didn't notice any changes to my device after flashing the PnP v.5. Do I have to remove jt's ROM before I flash the PnP?
