Yeah, gave it editor's choice which is huge for this reviewer. She's extremely nit picky so I think this says a lot IMHO.

Let's be nice guys. When the girl is that bad it shows much better character on your part if you just ignore it. Just please refrain and no comments about her and lets concentrate on the phone.
I'd love to see an anandtech review because their super "balls to the walls thorough review" will leave all of us satified for example look at the 2x review here
Ok I cant post the link so i guess google optimus 2x and anandtech

engadget reviewed the Optimus 2X and was pretty hard on it because of the software quibbles the LG skin was exhibiting, namely browser issues.
The G2x is the same hardware, but a very different, hands-off software treatment from LG. It's got Tegra Zone from nvidia and some T-Mobile apps, but that's it. It's a G-phone in the truest sense, but I wish it was a Nexus phone.

LG has yet to have a Nexus so it could have been a great one. The Nexus S was/is a joke IMO (as an upgrade to the N1).
This seems like it is Nexus worthy. First phone to have enough upgraded hardware to make me want to upgrade.

So lets just call it the Nexus X then

I'm with you. I've stuck with my Nexus One for over a year waiting for something upgrade-worthy and the Nexus S with its lack of expansion just didn't cut it. Yeah, I'm something of a packrat cuz my 32G card is almost full but when it gets tight I can delete a couple of nandroids and get back a gig or two.

Serious Question. Stupid Posts are not allowed. LG Optimus 2X in Jan. will you buy?

http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/23/lg-optimus-2x-dual-core-android-phone-hits-europe-in-january-pe/
the Dual Core Phone is coming in less than 1 month. if anything it sounds like LG wants to kill the nexus S before it gets a chance.
Today you have the option to buy Nexus S. or Pre order the Dual Core phone with Tegra 2 GPU for max gaming perforamnce along with better camera and an SD card option and 1080p video recording capability
downside its 2.2 and unless it gets rooted early, 2.3 will take a while to be out.
seriously . i didnt know that they would release it so soon.
I do not particularly like LG at all, so I'll pass until someone else looses a dual-core into the wild.
No thanks. I'll be sticking with the nexus until the end of next year when a Dual-Core N3 is announced.
I like my updates a lot, tyvm

normally i would agree with you. if you give me an LG phone for free. i wouldnt take it. its LG. but god damn i am really thinking of this one. the specs is out of this world
Tegra 2 is 'that' much powerful than Hummingbird ?
LG branded things for me is last resort after Thompson xD

Yeah, I agree the phone SEEMS like it's going to be absolutely amazing, and it very well may be. But I don't want to wait for updates and/or devs to get the latest and greatest software.
And as someone else said, I'll wait for the Nexus 3 or whatever it will be called.

Yes its much more powerful. its from Nvidia after all
and i agree i hate the LG branding too.
No question the Tegra 2 device is the lastest and greatest based on dual chip solely. Its a monument release despite launching with 2.2. I'm not a gamer so that aspect doesn't interest me at all. I always keep two devices (1)cdma (2)gsm, for geek reasons. I really want to get both devices in my hand, then make a decision. We all know it will be the Tegra 2 device.
delivered with my Super Sonic Boom
Nah i hoped for 30-40% more power ... there is no need to take this over future Orion based phones.
http://news.softpedia.com/newsImage...he-Test-Deemed-Faster-Than-Hummingbird-4.png/
BTW. I lost hopes in NV after huge fail in dedicated PS3 GPU.
I'm not a massive fan of LG phones, even if the specs are good. Bearing in mind I've still not decided on an NS yet. I think it's a good step though, as someone has to push the dual core tech forward. When Samsung (which I have nothing against) or HTC start pushing the tech in their own form, whether it's Tegra, Orion or something from Qualcomm, I'll be more excited

Somebody know what is top LG android phone right now available in market ?
Only time will tell whether the Opt 2X is worth it. Which is why I say this is a brink in mobile technology -- the standard is changing. Nexus S represents generally the best of an era that is ending (era of single core, 3G, etc). It might be worth waiting to some. No one can tell (meaning, not people who praise dual-core, or people who try to say dual-core is useless/wouldn't get first dual-core, etc.) for now.
As for the direct/clean Google updates, there are ways to work around that with other phones (flashing ROMs, etc.). If the Opt 2X succeeds, you can be sure the dev. community will be supporting the device with those sorts of specs.
But again, time will tell. I want to get (and like) the Nexus S as much as the next guy, but I'm waiting a bit. If the rumors are true, and that dual-cores will come early 2011, the wait is not far off. Also, the slew of issues the Nexus S seems to be having (a quick glance at the threads here will show tons of concerns) is serving as a huge deterrent. I actually like Samsung products, but it's becoming clearer and clearer that Google/Sammy rushed the Nexus S out.
Can you name 1 game, no strike that, 1 APP that doesn't run flawlessly on the Nexus S already? Honestly, having a more powerful processor is not the answer, the software is what needs work and it has been that way for over a year.
Software has been lacking while hardware keeps improving, which is why we're still stuck in 2006 when it comes to game development.

people said the same thing when Nexus 1 was out then Galaxy S was released. they all run the same things. it just it runs better on Galaxy S.
and i assume the same thing will happen for future games for example.
its not just the aps. the thing has HDMI out to play video and games on ur TV. it plays videos at 1080P. it RECORD videos at 1080 and a better GPU . its just all rounder a better specs phone. and its less than 1 month away.
I'm just waiting for a phone that has a 4.3" screen that is smaller than the size of the Nexus S. Phones have way too much useless glass/plastic around the screen that serve no purpose. Performance I could care less, they all work fine for me. Hell, I thought the HTC Aria was pretty snappy when I had it.
Can you provide a link that proves it has a SAMOLED screen?

@ll_l_x_l_ll
Forgive me for being offtopic for a moment, but I must ask, why are you here on these forums? Most of the posts I see from you are "LOL NEXUS S SUX!!!1!!11!" so I have to ask. Are you trying to convince people that they made a bad purchase and whatever phone you're currently using is better? Not trying to start a flamewar, merely curious about your intentions.
As far as your question regarding LG Optimus 2X, my answer is no. It runs what looks like a TouchWiz derivative and I detest TouchWiz. Its not that I hate all layovers, it's that I hate ugly/cartoony layovers. I don't mind SenseUI at all and actually wish that Google would incorporate some of their widgets into stock Android. And, personally, I don't understand the complaint about the lack of a microsd card on the Nexus S. Is 16gbs not enough? It is for me. Then again, I'm a guy who's had the same computer for the last two years and just barely made it halfway through the 500gb hard drive.
Dual-core processors are definitely the future, but nothing out there right now is optimized to take advantage of it and it will be some time before they do. Would today's apps run better? Probably. Would they run better to justify purchasing another phone? Not for me, yet. Also the 1080p video recording is neat, but I can count on one hand the number of times I've used the camcorder feature. Further, who the heck is gonna play phone games on their TVs? lol I can't imagine trying to play Angry Birds on a 42" screen.
On the topic of the screen, a quick googling of the specs seems to pull up it's just a TFT normal LCD screen like the MT4G, EVO, or Droid series. There was a picture LG sent to Phandroid showing their screen to be better than SAMOLED/Retina, but it was a photoshopped image made to generate buzz.
no not going to buy, because there is currently is no real world advantage to have a Dual Core phone. Hell most people dont even have dual core PCs

Nexus S or LG G2x?

Hey Everybody,
*Posted this up in the LG forum for the Optimus 2x. Wondering what thoughts you all may have as well. Thanks!
Well I've had my Nexus S since March 23 and I've really enjoyed trying out various roms and tinkering around with the Android OS. (I came from an iPhone 4 on at&t.) Now I feel like I'm at a crossroad trying to decide what phone to stick with for the next year or so. I have till the 23 to return the nexus to best buy. I bought unlocked and if I do decide to switch I'll do the same with the G2x. How many of you are coming from the nexus s on this forum and what made you want to switch the most? I'm primarily concerned with the battery life on the G2x and updates either from LG or modders. The things I don't like about the nexus s are 3G data speeds (2.5-3 down and 1-1.5 up in my area, Birmingham, AL) and 1 day to day in a half battery life. What would you guys or girls do in a similar situation? Can anyone comment on the "4G" data speeds in this area of the country or in general on T-Mobile? I've read various reports of speeds from 5-9 Mbps down and your average up. I also hope the 4G won't kill battery and we'll have a killswitch when not in use. I'm sure most have seen the mobileburn video, she seemed to put down the nexus s screen in favor of the G2x. I find that hard to believe seeing how awesome the samoled screen looks and how black the blacks are. Anyone who's seen the G2x in store that can confirm the findings she had? Thanks for any help anyone can offer up!

the nexus s will always get first hand on new version of the update, i chose the nexus s because it contains no junk.
I think you can make an argument for both phones either way. The differences I really see in the phones is that the LG has 4g, a dual core processor, hdmi out, and records 1080p...whereas the nexus S has NFC, gingerbread, sip calling (feature of gingerbread).
I don't see the G2X having 4g that big of a deal to me considering that I regularly get 3-6 megs download speed on my Nexus S. I compared it with a friends Galaxy S on 4g and we pretty much always got around the same speeds ( so I don't really see the 4g speed being a big difference maker...it just sounds good).
The G2X has a dual core processor...well I don't have any speed problems with the Nexus S at all. The phone runs perfectly fine and doesn't slow down, so yeah dual core sounds good but at the present time I don't think it is really going to be truly taken advantage of and is thus overkill.
For me, I had hdmi out on my evo and never once used it, so that is a moot point for me.
1080p recording in my opinion is another one of those things that just sounds good to have. In reality it really isn't any more useful than standard def recording. On my EVO and my Nexus one I could record in 720p and all that really resulted in was much larger video files. I'm not sure I even saw a noticeable difference in video clarity than in standard def.
Eventually the G2X will get gingerbread I'm sure, but in the meantime I would miss having SIP calling as I do use it. As for the Nexus S having NFC, that's another one of those things that sounds good, but until it is actually put to use in the real world it isn't very useful.
All in all I don't see enough difference in the G2X to warrant me taking back my Nexus S (I'm still in my return policy) and paying more for the G2X. I just don't see what I'd be paying more for.
I don't get caught up in the speed war. 3g or 4g, for 99% of what I do, I don't think I would see a difference, both are fast. Tethering might be impacted, but it's something I rarely do.
Hardware wise, both phones are blazing fast. So in the end, it comes down to software, pure google or lg's framework and update schedule
I other the google experience, unpolluted by anyone.

I'm still on the fence. No 4G in my area. My Nexus is plenty fast. I'll have to play with one.

in terms of hardware.. yes, in terms of software... no
and hardware isn't that far off, you're losing Super AMOLED
You could always return the Nexus S. Get the G2X. Then decide. If you liked the NS better, you can return the G2X and go buy the NS again or keep the G2X. Whatever you decided to go with.
I looked into the Nexus One forum once and they were calling the G2X the TRUE NEXUS 2 PHONE. Yeah, I was like ? They really need to get their minds out of the gutter. I saw an unboxing video and the G2X still had some T-Mobile apps in there like the App Pack, Telenav, and some other ones. So it's not even a "true Google experience phone" per say.
You could also wait for the HTC Sensation. Now, that is the phone that I would be willing to give up the NS for, but I wouldn't since I like the NS and will be keeping it until another Nexus phone comes out.
I suggest trying both since you have that option and decide for yourself. You're money, you make the call.

Agreed its preloaded with N.O.V.A. too. But I give props for making "stocklike" ROMs as their stock.
And it won't necessarily mean it'll have top of the line updates either.
Look at the G2, WOOOOOH its stock! where's gingerbread? Yeah. thats right. (Not counting CM7)
IMO: Galaxy S II > HTC Sensation > LG G2x
I personally dont like G2x's bottom. It has WAY too much room.
http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/15/htc-sensation-versus-the-rest-of-the-dual-core-world-smartphone/
Let me start by saying that I really love my nexus s, it's fast, and with cyanogenmod the battery life is awesome. The screen is great, but coming from an AMOLED phone before this, I don't get the hype.
That said, if I were to make a decision about a phone now, I'd go for the LG. With the tegra 2 chip, the phone is plenty future proof. Nvidia seems pretty serious about taking the phone market with apps specifically for the tegra 2 chip. I know there's no point in playing the ghz game, it's endless, but if you can do it for free (nearly) then I don't see why you shouldn't go through with the swap.
Part of the reason I bought my nexus s was stock android, but cyanogenmod offers battery life and all the awesomeness of stock.

Bye Bye G2x/Sensation/GalaxyS2's Hype.

Anyone else find it curios LG release two gb phones...

LG releases two new gb phones of the "optimus" line.
http://tinyurl.com/65lt3sd
What bothers me here is how they do something like this for some ghetto phones but didn't do this for a flagship phone? or instead of devoting putting more manpower towards the issues with our phone we put people to work putting 2 new gb devices out. Feels like the whole Samsung debacle all over again.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
You answered your own question. The company makes money selling new phones. We have already purchased our phones. Samsung did it, most other manufacturers do it, it's just how they roll. If they can make money pushing a new product before they update current devices they will put current on the back burner. Money money money.
Sent from my LG G2x
Yea your right and I know it....doesn't make me feel any better about it. Pisses me off actually. Samsung damaged their rep badly...you would think LG wouldn't make the same mistake. If they took care of us we would be repeat customers and would use word of mouth to spread LG glory. Instead the reverse will happen. Its bad business.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
They damaged their rep with heavy users, but the majority of people don't give a **** about upgrades and all that. I completely agree with you, it sucks. But from a manufacturer standpoint, the major players are doing very well. I mean look at the success of the SGSII and the hype for the Hercules. Technology is moving so fast and new products out all the time for people to really mean it when they say #neveragain to Samsung.
Sent from my LG G2x
We do exist. I meant it. Samsung never again. If LG doesn't get this right they will be on that list as well and HTC will be the maker of choice again. Hopefully the rumors aren't true and the new nexus doesn't belong to Sammy I will cry.

Well HTC had the Nexus One
Samsung had the Nexus S
Motorola had the Xoom (which, to my understanding, the Nexus of Tablets?)
I've heard both LG and Samsung. I've heard more about the Samsung Nexus Prime, being based off the SGS2.
Samsung always has a Nexus phone based on their previous model. Why can't the Nexus phone BE the next big model like the Nexus One was? Nexus Phones should be the flagship of Android devices that all other phones should model after.... why has this gone?

I do tend to agree. The nexus s was not a major step forward in tech when it dropped. However if the timed the new nexus right they could make it a big deal. Give it things we want combined into one phone. Quad bands, radio, samoled, if timed right triple core,10x cam front and rear flash,HD front and rear record and playbaçk, I mean the list goes on and on and peoples desires vary but who ever makes it needs to listen to the consumer and do it right.
Success is based off consumer purchases and satisfactory after purchase. Not how much your beta tester goes ooooh its purdy.

What you are saying is not "listen to the consumer/do it right."
I can understand Quad 3G bands. But just ask yourself: triple core? REALLY? What apps you need triple core?
I assume 10x you mean 10x digital zoom. REALLY? How many of you ACTUALLY used zoom when taking pictures?
HD front camera? REALLY? You can tell the differences of a downsized (to 800x480 or qHD) 1080i/p video?
Lets get real here.
Got good news every one I just got off the phone with tmobile and lg tech support managers both have confirmed gb will be here and on all g2x (p-999) devices before july 28th this year and the phone had not been recalled

Realistically I would love for the next generation Nexus phone to at least have 1ghz-1.2ghz dual core processor, Super Amoled Plus screen or SLCD with higher resolution than the traditional 480x800, 1080p video recording, 1.3 front facing camera, 8 megapixel camera, NFC chip, 5 inch screen without any capacitive or hardware buttons, 1800 mah battery and posibly dual stereo speakers. I think that would definitely be more than good enough and is more realistic to build. We honestly do not need anything bigger than dual core for these phones. 1ghz single core still gets the job done without lag as long as the software is built well.

Infuse 4g or Lg optimus 2x? which to buy?

The title says it all.
Infuse has its own plus points (S-AMOLED, better battery backup)
while optimus 2x has full CM7 support, 1080p hd recording, dual core etc.
so.....what say you?
Post in that really big comparison thread.

do you want better specs or a better screen?
I'd pick Samsung over LG any day. Esp with the screen in Captivate and Infuse, I am unable to go to any other phone
well....since you put it that way, lg all the way!
LG Junk is junk.
Infuse w/ MIUI > LG w/ CM7.
I had the LG g2x and it was the worst phone I ever owned hands down. Had horrible LCD backlight bleed, went through 3 replacements and they all had it.

Depends, how often are you gonna record videos? How much gaming do you do? (I'm not talkin Angry Birds here, I mean games that will use the dual cores)
If you do either one of these on a daily basis go for LG, BUT in all reality, 720p video is still pretty damn good, my M11x laptop is 720p and still looks crystal clear
Now, how many times are you going to use your screen?? Haha ya...Infuse wins that one. The screen is the main selling point of the Infuse, and trust me, I was sold after first look.
We've got CM7, not fully supported, but it's here and once official GB gets here, who knows what will happen.
Galaxy s 2. Or galaxy nexus.
Notice motorola and lg, both switched to omap4 on there new phones. The Tegra2 sux.
The infuse while great is old news, three gs2 is super fast and threw galaxy nexus had an even bigger better screen. But its not unmanageable. The screen had a different aspect ratio making it 1mm narrower than the infuse while being about 5mm taller.

i worked for tmobile when we brought out the g2x. i love the specs and almost stock android
but the phone had tons of problems, random reboots, and tons and tons of other issues. (which is why we stopped getting stock for a month or so)
although we never officially admitted it. so if your buying a used one i would say def not, a new or recent batch, should be okay

which reminds me, tell your lady friends to never have naked or semi naked pics on their phone, if u show a cell phone rep there ur phone for w/e reason, they will go through them , and or show them to other people, and or post them on the internet
lol
it was really frustrating, people wiht g2x would come in with tons oif problems like random reboots, unresponsiveness, light bleeding, and we were told to pretend like nothing was wrong and tell them it wasnt happening to most people lol . (then again it wasnt a coprorate tmobile)
Well i do film videos of hd quality fairly often, and game ever-so-intermittently.
The main issue here is whether or not the infuse is "future proofed".
Rumours suggest that the o2x might be getting ICS (via CM9) at the dawn of 2012 whilst the infuse having no official cm7 support might be left behind.
As for the 02x, i'll be purchasing a brand new one, will it still suffer the backlight bleeding, random reboots etc etc? heard they were fixed with the latest 2.3.4 update, but correct me if i'm wrong.
And in my budget, these 2 are the only real options.
I almost got that LG, ended up going to AT&T instead of Tmobile though (cuz Tmobile lied to me) anyway the infuse is what I ended up having to settle for due to choosing AT&T ...dude I thought I wanted the LG more, I was wrong! I love the infuse. Go Sammy. Nexus if you could, but if not you'll be happy with the infuse for awhile still.
Or you can wait for his big brother the "note" to make it through immigration

The note is my next phone. I just wanna see what new cool ass stuff the devs can cook up for a phone with that much potential. I have to say i love my infuse though, its taken some of the pain out of waiting for the note i dont think I'll ever buy a non-samsung phone again.

i think infuse more cheap and more interesting

my favorite thing about Samsung is theirs screens (which doesnt surprise me because of their tv screen quality)
the only bad thing about samsung/att is that they make os updates take much longer to get to your phone. (the infuse still doesnt have gb, and a new os is dropping already)

Thoughts on the upcoming T-Mobile G4x?

Looks like the LG x3 will come to the US as the T-Mobile G4x, much like the LG x2 came over as the T-Mobile G2x. Now, I'm excited about the phone, but am extremely cautious with my expectations. The G2x was a calamity and if it wasn't
for XDA I would have dumped T-Mobile. Today, this is the best phone ever (thanks to Hell's ICS rom) I consistently out perform my friends Galaxy SII's and Galaxy Nexus' (Granted I'm OC'd to 1.4Ghz vs their stock, but hey, that's why I'm on XDA and they are just sheeple phone buyers).
I remember preliminary reviews on the G2x giving it glowing reviews, but when it got to the consumers hands, it was a disaster. I don't think the people who did the reviews know exactly what the definition of review means. When I saw video reviews, the phone had no customer Icons or apps and it looked like someone played with it for about an hour than made a review of it, which would explain the glowing reviews the G2x got from 99% of the "professional" review sites out there.
Me, I want the G4x, I thrive to have a phone with the power of my Transformer Prime, but not with the headaches the G2x started with. I'll read a real reviews posted on XDA or other android forums for 2 months after launch before taking the leap. And hey, with ICS running so fantastically on the G2x, I could wait for T-mo to give a G4x for free on contract renewal.
Just wondering how other G2x owners feel about the G4x? I was considering going with the HTC Tegra 3 phone (The Sensation is getting ICS officially, while LG leaves the G2x dead in the water, thank goodness for community support), due to LG's terrible support of the G2x. Another consideration was to wait for the Krait based phones. Anand did a write up on the architecture and it looks like that Dual-Core can give the Quad-Core Tegra 3 a run for its money. Hey, at least this comes with the latest Android OS, not one 2 versions old (I still can't believe the G2x shipped with Froyo....shudder....)
Thanks for reading, have an excellent day!!!
http://androidandme.com/2012/02/sma...-smartphone-in-the-us-with-stock-android-4-0/
this might be a dumb question, but whatever happened to the g3 or whatever? did they just skip over that product line? whatever happened to consistency?
I'm not really excited for it. Tegra chips have always been overrated IMO. The Snapdragon Krait processors are already said to perform better on lower levels of energy than the Tegra 3. Even the upcoming dual core Ti-OMAP's and Exynos' are said to perform better than the quad core Tegra.
Plus it's going to be closed source again so devs will have their problems.
So to me, good phone, well built, nice hardware and software, but the closed source is what will make me look elsewhere.
Phone looks decent. At this point in time phone hardware is to the point where pretty much any high end phone will get the job done just as good or slightly (not noticably in real world use) better than its competitors. It will come down phone design, screen size, and software support for me. I'm not going count LG out as this was my first LG phone. The Vibrant was my first Android phone and while Samsung was horrible with support for that phone they seem to have learned from it and are making an effort to do better. No reason the same cant happen with LG.

Actually ICS is coming to the G2x from LG in the 3rd quarter. Knowing how slow LG is, I'm guessing that'll be pushed back to 4th quarter. Still though, LG isn't abandoning us, instead they're just incompetent.

Lol. G2x received its End of Life. It's not getting any update. What you heard was the news before the end of life report. Sorry.

lg ics update < xda devs ics update
Its already here and getting better with each release. Besides that a port from any other tegra 2 based phone that gets ics is better than anything LG wannabe devs could release.

Is it me or is there something off about LG. The quality, no matter how good the specs are, just seems mediocre. Back in the day, I used to have an LG Chocolate and while it looked great, it was a piece of crap. Since then I never bought anything LG again. When the g2x came out I decided its been long enough and gave LG another chance. The g2x turned out to have as many annoying problems as the chocolate.
I am done with LG for good now. Fool me once shame on you , fool me twice shame on me.

Yup.. I'm done with LG as well. When it comes time for my upgrade on my G2X I'll be looking for an HTC or Samsung device.
I guess I am one of the lucky ones. I have never had a major issue with mt G2x and with all the dev support, it has been the best phone I have owned. The G4x looks promising but I will wait and see.

My resentment for LG has nothing to do with the developers. CM7 is the best thing that could have happened for my G2X. I was VERY close to ditching the phone until I came across the CM7 rom. With the CM7 Nightly 224 + Trinity kernel, my phone is usable once again. I still have to reboot my phone daily so that I can get working email and such (networking seems to hang if not rebooted daily). I can live with that.
As of now I'm happy with my G2x and LG. Number one I'm a brand loyalty kind of guy. I say that to say this I have no regrets with LG, so I'm really looking at continuing our partnership with the G4x.

Yeah the stock Rom for the g2x sucks but in my opinion they always do.... as far as hardware I'm satisfied with my g2x.

It might just come bone stock like the G2X did. The optimus 2x has an ugly skin overlay and we got it stock-ish.
It will more than likely be stock android but TBH I wouldn't mind this new UI I kind of like it
