[Q] Distored iTunes video podcast playback - General Questions and Answers

Has anyone encountered distorted/pixelated video playback with iTunes video podcasts? Specifically the Revision3 (HD MP4 - 30fps) versions (1280x720) like Geekbeat.tv?
For some reason, a few episodes played back on the stock Sense video app and mVideoPlayer will both exhibit the distortion (see here http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/3010/img00791b.jpg) and then maybe an episode or two after that will play back just fine.
I tested the lower res (Quicktime Large) formats (640x360) and they all seem to play back problem free.
I tried rebooting several times and same distortion on the HD versions.
HTC Desire Z, 2.2.

If it is, could you play smoothly YouTube 1080p rips? High bit rate .mkv files?
And what player you use for full HD playback?
dont think it will... altough i can play 720p mkv very smoothly with Diceplayer !! did test a couple 1080p which wasnt that smooth....altough i heard that converting into .mp4 results into much better playback because of native support
Of course it can play 1080p videos.
Using the standard Gallery, it can play the 1080p videos that the camcorder records, and it can (so far) play any 1080p MP4 video that I put on the SD-Card or stream from my media server.
There will be some file formats that it won't play, of course, but that's a problem with the format rather than the resolution.
It will also play 1080p MP4 videos through my Sony Bravia TV via DLNA.
abuserkadayf, sjgore, thank you.
sjgore, I see you got HTC Desire too. And it have trouble playing some 720p mkv, never been able to make it play any 1080p. MoboPlayer is the best all around player from point of format support, speed and UI. But there is like a dozen players that based on FFmpeg library around(VPlayer, QQplayer, VitalPlayer, RockPlayer etc...). Was wondering if new generation of hardware is able to support 1080p to the point that there is no need to **** mind about how fast particular video player and choose one solely based on convenience of use and price...
Never tried 1080p on my Desire. 720p was fine, including 720p videos taken using the camcorder in CM6 (720p wasn't in CM7 for some reason).
I haven't even tried any 3rd party players from the Market on the Sensation yet, everything so far has been achieved with what comes built into the phone (ie. just Gallery).

Camcorder 720p clip are H.264 720p Baseline. 1st gen. snapdradon ( QSD8260 ) can play 720p Baseline profile.
but most of 720p/1080p movies are H.264 High profile level 3~5.
If file format is MP4(H.264+AAC), stock player can play .
Many of HD movies are MKV/AVI format and audio codec is AC-3(5.1ch) or DTS or Flac.
ffmpeg base player can not play HD ( 720p/1080p ). Decoding & rendering need too much CPU power.
If you want to play HD(with DTS/AC-3/FLAC + MKV/AVI) clips, use diceplayer.

[Q] What is your video (movie) play back with various video players?

For some reason EVERY video player I have has some flaw in it when it comes to video playback on the Sensation. Rock Player used to be my go to player on the hd2. On the sensation, I am getting slow playback and the voices will not sync properly. mVideo is the same thing, but more so. I used to use this one for for music videos. With the voices not in sync it really sucks. The video player that comes with the Sensation has the best sound, but I put in an .avi of a movie and the playback is pixelated.
I don't convert movies because I never did it on the hd2 and the two codecs I primarily use, .avi and .mp4, have NEVER given me an issue. Should I be more worried than I am? Is it only my Sensation? Should I take it back? your thoughts/experiences...
DICE Player has worked for me. It has a trial as well.
I used the default player and MoboPlayer
mobo only for dice player FC always

[Q] Problem playing videos from sensation over dnla to hd tv

Hello
I have a strange problem.
Yesterday I recorded a video(in 720P mode) with HTC sensation, came home, and played it normally on my samsung 40LEC650 HD TV over dnla(allshare), wirelles over phone.
Then I recorded some more videos (in all posiblle resolutions and sizes), tried to play them on tv, and error occurs - video codec not supported.
Then I tried again playing the first video, and it plays normally, just every other doesnt.
All videos offcourse in 3gp format.
What happened?? And what can I do to be able to play all videos?
Bor
I have the same issue. Samsung plasma tv. Video codec not supported on all but a couple of videos. Strange!
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium
dnla problem
I think I ve found out what the problem is. Transfer your videos on to computer and check properties od each one. Check the bitrate and frames per second. It seems that tv doesn't play files with low bitrate or fps.
I ve recorded some videos, and those with bad sunlight (light from surroundings) have lower bitrate and won't play.
I think that's it.
Check YouTube user jemecb Video1- this one plays
Video2 (bad light) - my tv won't play
If anyone knows how to get past this please help
Greeting
There is a cameramod that, while it isn't widely agreed upon that it improves the quality of the image, does increase the bitrate quite a bit in the videos.
So if it's bitrate you need, then try the modded camera from the sensation development forum.

Mp4 video playback??

Trying to play some mp4 video podcasts from school but the audio is messed up and the video lags using the stock video player. Same problem with ES video player and MX video player... any suggestions?
Videos work fine in itunes and vlc on my windows PC
I've been using VLC player for Android (it's in closed Beta currently), but the APK (you want the neon one), is floating around the interwebs. Give that a go and see if it's any better for you.
This is the link to download VLC (neon / nonneon)

There's also moboplayer, works fantastically well.
Yeah, I fiddled with Plex, VLC and then finally moboplayer. I like moboplayer a lot more than the other two. No streaming software is required on your Mac/PC to watch video on your Android device.

I have used Mobo on my Nexus and like it. The reasons are that it plays ANYTHING, and I mean ANYTHING (MOV, FLV, MP4, M4V, etc.).
For the KF, it could be great in theory since you can adjust brightness and volume with screen swipes (no volume rocker on KF makes this a necessity).
The main issue that I had with Mobo on KF (side loaded) was that it wasn't doing full screen. I have a bunch of Apple TV stuff in M4V that are at resolutions (720 x 480) below the KF max resolution. When I play these files in Mobo on the KF, there is not way to put it to full screen. It uses about 75% of the screen. I guess I could recode the stuff to the full KF screen, but then I'm saving multiple versions which is just a waste of space.
Anyone know if this is solvable? The Gallery video player will play these files in full screen, but what it doesn't have is the ability to play MOVs which I have a lot of as well. I tried the Quickpic video player and while it plays the MOV files, it doesn't have on screen adjustments for volume which makes it less than ideal. So I continue to search for the ideal player:
1. Plays MOV, MP4, M4V, etc.
2. Onscreen volume swipe (and brightness if available)
3. Plays files using full screen.
Anyone?

mkv video playback lags

Hi, all. I own xperia Neo V, recently rooted. I use MX player for video playback. There seems to be a lag at random intervals during video playback, especially playing mkv files. During the lag, audio continues to play while video displays as a still picture and then delayed video gets played back at a very fast pace. Then video playback continues fine and then lags with similar issue at another random interval. The lag happens for 5-8 seconds . I would like to know if any workaround for this problem? Does anyone face similar issue?

Hi! What is the resolution of the video? Because the Neo and Neo V screen resolution is only 720p and it won"t play full hd videos, but 720p videos is working well. I have Xperia Neo and it's not playing the full hd vids with any player! The sound goes as it should, bat the screen freezes. Reduce the video size and it will work...
The resolution is 576*432
I tried BSplayer, QQplayer too. all lag at random intervals
I use Moboplayer (the one with a "green triangle on a grey circle" icon), and it plays everything, except full hd vids. The max reslution is 1280x720, but even Quickpic plays too. So i dunno what the problem is... What rom are you using and kernel? Maybe you run out of free memory during playback... Have you download the codec for MX player? When I first install it, it's need the MX Player Kodek (ARMv7 NEON)...
But now I probe one video (1280x720) and Quickpic plays it, I'm able to scrolling too...
I tried Mobo before. One thing that I love about MX is that it's HW acceleration feature is excellent which boost your volume twice, and all other players including Mobo can't match this boost. That's the only reason stopping me to use other apps. Anyways, thanks for hinting Moboplayer, will try it out again. Regarding Quikcpic, I use it only to view my pictures, new used it to play any video.
