Yes. It is like that by design. It stops charging at around 95-98%. Its to prevent you from overcharging the battery.

This is a known issue. You can try and reset battery stats in cwm when your battery is charged and/or emptied. It works for some and not for others. I haven't noticed my battery lasting any less when my battery doesn't "charge" past 97%
There have been some discussion on this. I get about 97% myself. From what I've read you may get full charge if you let it drain all the way. I don't do that myself. Very happy with battery life as is.
I used to get 100% before I switched to the Vegan rom.

Either let it drain until it shuts off a few times and then charge it all the way up or if that doesn't work, use CWM to delete the battery stats when it's at 95% (full, with a GREEN light - not charging, with a red light) and then let it drain until it shuts off on it's own.
I did this a long time ago (delete the stats) and it's been perfect since. Charges to 100% and does indeed show battery at almost empty before it shuts off.

I am sitting a 98% with VEGAn.
I am now having an issue where u can use the device, then I turn it off, and
turn it on the next morning and see about 5 to 10% of my battery was drained.
Confirmed Fix
Confirmed fix for me on Vegan 5.1. Letting battery drain down to zero and shutoff the tablet... reached 100% on next charge. Now the indicator charges to 100% every time.
tried this and still no luck . still get to 95-6% bugger
Vegan here..this is how I fixed it:
1) Drain it till it shuts off, try restarting it a few time to make sure its dead.
2) Once dead, plug it in, boot into clockworkx, and reset battery status (do this quickly)
3) restart, and leave plugged in idling till fully charged
4) use and enjoy a accurate battery level!!

You have to remember that in order to install some apps out there, you have to give them permission to use the internet and to interact with your device autonomously. I have found a few apps that were pulling my tablet out of sleep mode and turning on the wireless to download ads or other updates, and that (along with the length of time to shut back down) was affecting my battery life.
I would say to go back and review what you've installed, and to also check your screen timeout settings. Just doing that saved me quite a bit of overnight battery loss.

When you first get a phone, you should let the battery die before charing it. Then charge it completely after it dies, this will maximize your battery life. If you charge it right out the box, you're actually reducing the amount of juice the battery can hold.

That's not really accurate. Lithium Ion batteries have no memory effect like older batteries so charging them from halfway full does not reduce the maximum capacity.
What happens is the phone needs to learn to measure the amount of mAh from the phone and recognize what battery % that means. By taking the phone through the full discharging and charging cycle, the battery drivers pick up on this and will better report the battery level. With a poorly calibrated battery, you do not get less battery, but instead you just will not see accurate information about the charge level. For example, my first discharge went quickly to about 10%, and even quickly below 5%, but stayed on for hours between 5% to eventually shutting off.
The battery still will not die faster, but my phone thought it was much lower than it was, giving it the appearance of dying faster. Point is, you can do the charge/discharge cycle whenever, not just the first time, and it won't effect your long term battery health.
1) do factory reset

3) charge completely

I think it really depends on who you ask. lol Some people will say let it drain first then charge it fully. I have read info on battery maker sites that suggest when you get their battery that you let it charge fully for at least 8 hours, then let it discharge fully. They say to do this the first 5 charges to increase battery life.
When I get a new phone or battery that's what I do. as soon as I get it I charge it up overnight, then let it discharge completely for the first 5 charges. I can only speak by my experience and my experience tells me it makes a difference. Here is my reasoning: me and my ex gf went one day to get new phones. We got the same phone. She started using hers as soon as we left the store. I waited. I charged it up overnight fully and did the conditioning procedure. Our phones were pretty much mirrors of each other app and software wise. Her battery would die out a couple of hours before mine. Battery usage also didnt report any HUGE differences in consumption .
Also every once and a while I go into Clockwork recovery and wipe battery stats(after it's been fully discharged) and re do the conditioning process. It might just be a mental thing, but for me this seems to work

I heard/read somewhere that you should never let a lithium ion battery fully discharge. It supposedly shortens its lifespan every time you fully discharge it. Instead, you are suppose to just top it off and not let it remain on the charger, for extended periods of time, once its reached a full charge. YMMV

This is "more" true for everyday normal usage. Yes, you shouldn't constantly fully charge and fully discharge every time you use your phone. But for battery calibration it is necessary/beneficial.
I also hard that during the first charge after turning the phone off you have to strange on your head for ten minutes, then only use your left hand for the rest of the day and you will double your battery life

I'm trying to calibrate my NS (i9020T) because it seems like battery drains quite fast after frequent flashing ROMs. Last time I calibrated was about 4 months ago.
But the problem is that it won't charge beyond 99%. It used to charge up to 100% before if I leave the screen on.
But don't I need to get battery % to 100% (that's what calibration app says)..?
How can I get it back to 100% charge?

Not sure if it works ffor ns, but drain your battery, go to data/system and delete batterystat or something along those lines and reboot. Let it charge for awhile and it should go to 100% . If it works you don't need to calibrate anymore as that's how normal apps calibrate.

drain your battery, delete the batterystats.bin, reboot, then charge all the way. chances are is that you had to wait a bit longer for it to hit 100%. when i charge my phone to 100, sometimes it takes an hour to go from 99 to 100%. be patient, if that 1% is worth it. the more you play with your phone between 99 and 100%, the longer it will take.

I waited 5 hours but it was still at 99%. I had to leave home so I couldn't charge any longer...
So drain it first, delete batterystats.bin, and it should charge to 100%? Because the app I downloaded says, charge it to 100% then delete batterystats.bin.. etc.

you must had something running in the background. believe me, the different between 99 and 100 is almost non-existant
The last 10-20% trickles in. 5hours is way too long though. What does your voltz read bc you can have a full charge as far as voltz go but may be getting a faulty % reading on the charge.
If you use the apk make sure you don't power off or you will regenerate the battstat through normal process and then the app is pointless. Try charging overnight and see if you can get to 100%.
Fyi/beware draining your battery to 0 is not good. Some batteries and phones have a hard time getting through first boot when there is little to no charge in the battery. Whenever I use the calibration apk, I never go below 10%. Anything below that can cause some funk.
I drained it all the way and deleted batterystats.bin, charged it all the way back overnight, but it doesn't go over 99% for many hours. I stopped all the services I could possible (kept only the essentials)...

Yes your phone sometimes gets out of sync with its self and starts thinking that its fully charged or fully discharged when its not. The way I typically calibrate my battery is to turn it off and let it charge until it stops (this is easy to see since the screen lights up and the battery shown on the screen stops unfilling and refilling). I then unplug it and boot it up. Again, shut it down and plug it in and let it charge until it thinks its full. Again, turn it on this time letting it charge to what it thinks is full while on. Finally restart into CWM and use its too for wiping battery stats. After all that I also like to let it die before I plug it in again.

My 727 (AT&T) is rooted stock rom. The battery indicator gets 'stuck' a lot of the time. It happens in both a widget and the default battery indicator in the status line.. They will both show 100% and I know full well that they CAN'T be at 100% after sitting around all afternoon off the charger. I restart the phone and immediately it drops to 42% ...
Anybody else seen an issue like this?

what i suggest you do is calibrate the battery.
1 plug it in and charge it to 100%
2 turn off the phone and charge it until it says 100%
3 unplug and turn it on and leave it for 3min.
4 turn it off and plug it in and let it sit until it says 100% again
5 repeat step 3
6 unplug turn on the phone and use it until it hits 0% and turns off
7 plug in the phone and let it charge to 100%
now use as normal and after a few days your battery will read more accuratley and more importantly, will last longer. keep in mind your battery does lie to you but just use the phone and you'll start getting more out of it.
moving forward, charge whenever you can. Lithium ion batteries will last longer if they're charged often (like at 60%-40%).

Yeah, I even downloaded the utility that removes the battery life file, and creates a new one. I guess I need to try one of these procedures again.. I honestly think it is more to do with a bad application, no matter what the battery life meter should not 'hang', and if it does for more than a few minutes, then it should be able to recover by forcing a restart of the app... *sigh*...
This is a common issue with this phone. Look up "battery stuck at 100%" in Google and you'll find quite a few results. Supposedly it's an issue with certain chargers not giving out proper levels so it trips out some indicator chips in the battery and/or phone.

Just reboot your phone and use the stock charger and cable from now on.
I had this issue with the rooted kernel (can't remember which one) but after downloading "battery calibration" from the market and following the in-app instructions the problem was solved.

I don't think there is really a set time, its just that when it starts to go just replace it.
I'd usually do it within 18 months so you're on time for a replacement. Batteries don't last too long which is why buying a sealed battery phone is ridiculous imo.
Depends a lot on how you charged it over the years. Some people say it's better to charge those kind of batteries often and don't let them get below 20% or 50%. And If you use your phone while it' charging, that also decreases the life of the battery. High heat or cold also take some time off the battery's life.
Even if you do take good care of the battery, it will inevitably lose it's capacity over the years.

I feel the same way. But maybe nowadays ppl change phones pretty quickly, so by the time the battery's about to die, they're already getting a new one.
I have been using my phone for almost 2 years, and it already loses its charge so i decided to change it. I think it depends on your usage, if you use it for heavy use, it will loses its charge faster.
I bought new original battery after 12months of using old one,with daily usage i can get around 5hours of screen time

My phone is about two years old now and I thought I needed a new battery. Instead I picked up a new samsung charger (the one that ships with the Note 4). I don't know if it's because of the increased voltage output but my phone seems to hold a charge better - and charge faster!

For me & my phone habits, it's usually after 15 months. On my N5, I put in a fresh battery after 18 months.

In general, the deeper you discharge the battery, the fewer times the battery will recharge. If you use your phone heavily, and always drain to 0% almost daily, that will result in a battery that will stop holding it's charge very quickly. However, if you don't use your phone heavily, or have access to a charger throughout the day to top up your battery long before it crosses 50%, then it will typically last a lot longer.
The fact that you notice a significant loss in battery performance, most likely means that the battery has either lost significant life, or at least significant enough to how you use your phone.
You may try the "Battery Calibration" app from google play store.
it's free but require root access.
This app remove the batterystats.bin system file. The OS generates a new clean batterystats file soon.
It's like you're refreshing your battery...
Calibration needs to be done after flashing a new ROM, but you can calibrate any time you think your battery is miscalibrated.
I use this app myself and it's great...

Read the last paragraph. Battery calibration apps don't do anything except generate a placebo effect and screw up your battery stats. To maximize battery life, you want to examine what processes are running and kill the ones you don't want to run, using Greenify or Autostarts.
I decided to replace battery after 15 month of intense use.
My S4 had the same problem. I reset the battery stats, and after that it works great now. Battery easily lasts for a full day.
Here's how you do it.
*Let the battery discharge while doing normal routine stuff, until it switches off.
*Turn it on again and use it some more till it switches off again. Repeat, until it wont turn on any longer.
* Remove the battery and hold the power key for 30 secs or so with battery removed(I do it for upto a minute)
* Install the battery and close it up and now connect the charger.
Let the battery charge to 100% WITHOUT turning the phone on.
*After 100% is reached, turn the device on and disconnect the cable and use it as you normally do.
DO NOT RECHARGE in between and let it discharge completely or till the point, it'll just be about to turn off, then connect the charger.

I've repeted this steps three times and it looked great!
I more than a year... 1 hour of screen
Calibrate your battery. . If you don't have the app .. charge til you get to 100% unplug charger then turn off phone, plug in charger while phone is off. . Charge until it's green. . Unplug and turn your phone on. . Repeat that process 1 more time and it will work
I just bought a new OEM battery from Samsung. What should i do first? Charge it with phone turned off to full then discharge it to 0 and then charge again to max? Do this one time or 3? maybe there is some article about what u should or shouldn't do when u get a brand new battery?
