I have been reading lots of posts about issue with each but cannot seem to get a good read on which one is the most stable with this tab.
Opinions please.

Just a heads up but do not flash cockwork mod on your gtab as it will SCREW it up.
Sorry, couldnt resist.
I don't think there is any stability difference. The difference is in how they see the memory map. Clockwork 8 is mapped to see the internal SD, and the newest Clockwork is mapped to see the memory the way CM6B4 has it mapped.
For example.. If you put a file on your internal SD Clockwork 8 will see it, and the new 12 version won't. It will expect to see it on the external card. Unless you use the CM6B4 rom I think version 8 is the way to go.

Will .8 see it on both or just internal?

I may be wrong but I don't think either one will see external, and internal. One or the other depending on which Clockwork you are using. If you need to load something while in recovery you can mount USB storage from the mounts and storage menu and then use your PC to move it to the tablet SD.

Does that mean the space on the internal SD would be wasted then if the system partition doesn't take up the 16 GB. The factory default partition was 2 GB, does that mean the 14GB would be wasted and inaccessible?
y the lies?
on clockwork 8 yes u can see both internal and external sdcard

I don't know who you are calling a liar, or why. If I say something that is wrong, which is entirely possible because I don't know everything then say so. But don't call people a liar. If you know the answer then say so.... I don't see a way to do it..

With which clockwork version? 8 looks at the internal, the other one looks external. They were made for different roms that had different memory mapping. Can you go into clockwork and try to install a zip from sd card and pick between the external, and internal? If you can then let me know how...

My understanding is that you start with 16gb. 2gb of that is used to install programs, and can be changed in clockwork up to 4gb. The remainder is used for data storage. It is all coming from the same original 16gb. The data storage portion inside the tablet is what clockwork 8 sees. Anything you put on your tablet like music, video etc is located on that data storage portion and is what you are looking at in the file manager program when it says sd card. Internal SD card is kind of a confusing term and the latest Viewsonic update changed the naming in the settings menu but sd card is the internal data storage, and sd2 is the removable sd card. At least in TnT
There have been so many changes over the month that it can get confusing sometimes. If you say something you have to be careful because that may be wrong for another rom. They all make your tablet go, but aren't the same everywhere.

no u can't see both in clockwork menu
So correct me if I am wrong but using the new version would be better in case you get into a boot loop and need to restore or flash something else as .8 CW would not be able to see the internal to flash the new Rom.
Right?

I understand that it sees internal. What I am getting at is if I go into a boot loop for some reason I no longer have access to my internal so if I needed to add a ROM to flash and recover I could not add it to anything but my external SDcard.
So it would be better to have the new clockwork on there.
correct?
Ok I just bought a 32gb micro sd card.. and I put it in my phone..
how do i make that the primary card that everything gets downloaded it will go there...
because as of right now, I cant even move my games or apps to the external sd card.
You cant.
I'd guess it wouldn't be possible without any custom scripting, similar to apps2sd.
Why would you want to move your games/apps to the sd card?
If you go to "Manage Applications" most apps can be moved to SD card.

But only to the internal SD card, not the removable one.
as long as your rooted. I use root explorer and cut and past to my 32 gb ext card. Its easy with a file program as this. Until someone writes an APPTOExSD its the only way to make it happen. I know it sucks.

Because my internal phone memory is only 1.3 GB
You could run the CyanogenMod custom ROM. That points /sdcard to the microSD and /emmc to the internal memory. Warning, you have to load it on to your phone and you need to install a custom recovery. If that means nothing to you then I advise you read the development forum for a while before attempting anything. If, on the other hand, you know what I'm talking about then you should already know that it's a nightly build, not stable with no ETA of stability. That said, I've been running it for a few weeks now.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1058131 for details on the ROM.

Try looking at an app call GL to SD.
Works on my tablet to move gigs of data to external, and the app will still open the apps.
Its like a temporary mount swap.
Sent from...I can't tell you, the Nazi XDA Moderators will shut it down.

Am i right in thinking that the 4ext recovery is held on the memory card or is it on the phone?
I'm buying a new memory card tomorrow for my Sensation and want to know what I have to do to set it up to how my old one was.
4EXT is held in your phone, somewhere, i don't know where, but definitely not on the SD card

Hi,
Look on the root of your sd card.
You will see clockworkmod/backup
Your backups are in there.
Copy the whole of your sd card to a folder on your PC.
Then, you can put back what you need later(pix, music, backups)
Don't worry about the android files.
Android will put back what it needs.

Hello Im having a very serious issue with my phone. I cant move apps to my SD Card for some reason. my phone is rooted and i tried using app2usb or whatever its called but still no luck i know my phone can read the SD because i have songs on it and my music player can play the songs on my SD but i just dont understand why its not letting me transfer apps nor letting me install apps into it. PLEASE HELP!
I have a Samsung Galaxy S 4g from tmobile with custom rom, Cynogen Mod 9 ICS. I also have a 8gb SD card
I have also tried deleting smdl2tmp1.asec but i cant find that in my phone nor my SD Card
Try ZDbox to move your apps to sd card
I personally use App2SD but I think for custom ROMs, ZDbox is more reliable

Does your phone detect your sd card?
If yes you can use force2sd.

I have the same problem like you, then I backup all my data in sdcard saved in computer and use minitool partition to format ext2 and main partition. Now copy data to sd card (main partition) again. Next step you use your recovery tool as CWM (your device have been rooted) to restore. I have fixed that problem.
I can move apps to my external SD card buy can't get android to recognize it otherwise, which means I can't add photos or music or install a rom to the phone, is there a way to fix this?

I dont really understand ur meaning
What apps do u use to move the apps to the external SD card? Does the device still recognize the apps?
Try to flash ur device, or ask again in other part of this forum based on ur device
