[Q] Relock my phone? - HTC Inspire 4G

If I install a stock or non-rooted rom to my currently rooted and sim unlocked Inspire will the rom also sim relock the phone? Or is it permanently unlocked?

It's "permanently" until you run the stock ruu and return it to as shipped condition.

Yes, but you still have s-off even after running stock ruu. There is a tool somewhere to get s-on for return purposes.

i have s-off my sensation, cloworked it and installed arhd 3.0.1.
how can i return to stock rom? just flash the official ruu?
can i brick my phone?
1. Run the RUU your phone came with (or later if a newer is out)
2. S-ON using the adb commands in the Rooting guide
what if i don't s-on it? is it bad? can i leave s-off in case i want to install clockwork again?

[Q] What does HTC's bootloader unlock mean for everyone?

Yesterday, HTCDev released the unlocker for our bootloader. I know this is beneficial only for those who hasn't unlocked their bootloader via the Revolutionary method.
But what does this mean for those who already has an unlocked bootloader? What's the difference? Are there advantages with this method over Revolutionary?
You lose your warrenty and recovery. You both get with the revolutionary method.

With Revolutionary you don't lose your warranty? I didn't know that. I thought you lose both either way.
It's not that you don't lose your warranty. It's just that HTC won't be able to tell you've S-OFF'd it as you can go back to 100% stock before sending it into HTC
Using the official method they have a note of your serial number so will know you've unlocked it

Ahhh! Thanks for the clarification!
Probably a dumb question, but why do you lose Recovery when going S-off via that HTC route?

Well you get the normal HTC recovery. With revolutionary option you get the clockwork mod recovery that can do many many amazing things like flashing new roms.

[Q] Back to stock for OTA updates with SuperCID ?

First thing's first - I'm definitely not a newb.
My phone (Sensation 4G on T-Mobile USA) is depended upon for work and person use. I've been playing with a lot of custom ROMs and each and every one of them has their own little quirks.
Because of this I have seriously considered going back to stock, but I want to be sure that I can receive OTA updates.
I realize that I can get everything back to stock via RUU, HOWEVER, with SuperCID in place, would I still be able to receive OTA updates? I've read that the RUU doesn't replace the SuperCID with the shipped value.
If not, how would I get the SuperCID back to the original value (which unfortunately I don't have - phone was bought used and already rooted) ?
Thanks so much!
You can get the OTA with superCID the RUU will unroot your phone and reinstall the stock recovery. You will need the stock recovery or you could Brock your phone
If you want to be on the safe side and rewrite your cid do the steps you did to get superCID but instead of 11111111 put T-MOB010 That should get you back on track

So, by flashing the RUU it won't replace the 4EXT recovery with the factory one?

What about the cid??
Sent from my Sensation XE
No cid will stay the same but that has nothing to do with how your phone runs that just allows you to install the ics custom rom because of the firmware updates needed to run them

you could.. but since you can easily rewrite your cid, why worry?
after u flash stock rom
1. Super CID will remain
2. S-off still remain
I can download OTA from server but after download finish it will not install with the error about variant system (means we modified software).

Are you sure for this? From what I know IF you install stock ROM from RUU, it will automatically unroot the phone, get back to S-On and of course replace your bootloader with the original one. However to be honest I don't know what happens if you install stock from clockwork recovery - maybe that way the bootloader will not be replaced and you will still have S-Off and root.
TO JWhipple: The Super CID shouldn't matter for RUU. However you could always change it back to your phone/operator version before installing RUU.
@up: not in Sensation. After installing stock with RUU, S-OFF will remain still. To get S-ON back follow this guide. I'm sure, tested on my own Sensation
What would be the right order to go with:
Do you start with changing the SuperCID back to the original one forst or would you first have to go back to S-ON?
SIMPLY TELL ME ONE THING
that can we have official update after installing the latest ruu with s-on and unroot but with super cid?????
thanks

installing stock ruu doesnt change the phone to s-on or unroot.......but see the guide to do s-on then u might get the official updates
The ruu simply changes your rom to stock unrooted, changes radio, recovery and hboot. It doesn't change stuff like cid and s-off. In theory you can get ota updates with supercid and s-off. The only thing required, would be the stock recovery

Quick question, a few guides to going back to stock Sensation point or that you have to downgrade the firmware and radio. Is downgrading the radio (and firmware for that matter) necessary before flashing stock ROM with RUU? I did it with the last sensation before sending it in for warranty replacement, but only because the guide suggested it. But next time I wouldn't do it if I don't have to. Thanks ahead.

No it is not necessary. It will be required only if your device is S-ON and RUU version is older. Just remeber that if your phone is S-OFF and you want to put it S-ON again, do that after you have flashed stock ROM.

Do I have to lock/relock bootloader to unroot/stock?

Want to return to stock and unroot my HTC Sensation 4G TMOUS Unlocked bootloader through HTCDEV.com S-OFF and return to stock. Is there a way returning to stock/unrooting without relocking/locking the bootloader - I CANT get ADB/fastboot to work! Is there another way other than ADB? Can I just unroot/stock without relocking bootloader? What would happen?

Hi,
You could try RUU.
Look HERE

[Q] T-Mobile Uk RUUs

I've been going through some Rom/Flashing issues with my HTC One S and having the RUU for my device to start all over again flashing back to stock recovery, relocking the phone and using the RUU to get myself back to stock.
To give you a run down. I just got my phone and I've spent the last month figuring this whole thing out due to this amazing online community on here.
I use TWRP 2.2 as my recovery, unfortunately I dived in, and failed to back up my original non-rooted stock Rom but that's still ok.
[I know nooby but bearing in mind this has all taken place within like, two weeks.] I used to switch effortlessly between MIUI v4 and the stock rooted HTC Sense 4.0.4 android just by backing up and restoring the roms but then I flashed to Paranoid Android and I think I fiddled with something during that flashing process which is why I'm probably getting some arbitrary technical issues now and I'd like to start over!
So anyways, any of you fine gentlemen and possibly ladies out there who could point me in the direction of a Uk HTC One S T-mobile RUU?
Thanks
Unfortunately none. I need one, too.

What do you need yours for exactly? Maybe I can help you out
Sent from my HTC One S using xda app-developers app
I have a tampered bootloader, and the flag needs to be reset. That's why I need one. And I have a T-Mobile CID.
I know there are ways to tamper and/or change the CID but I don't particularly want to do that myself.
Sent from my HTC One S using xda app-developers app
I can't change CID, because I don't have an unlocked bootloader.

You can use hassoon's HTC one s all in one kit to unlock the bootloader can't you?
Sent from my HTC One S using xda app-developers app
Do a full wipe, flash something like ARHD, change the CID, flash HTC Europe RUUs.
Yes, but I don't want to root... I need to restore from an RUU because that will remove my tampered flag.

I had a similar issue with my orange uk branded one s but after installing twrp i was able to change my cid from orange to a generic htc cid. I then re installed stock recovery, relocked the bootloader and then was able to install the european ruu. This worked fine and bootloader no longer says tampered although it does say relocked. I believe this is the best you can get if the bootloader has been unlocked at some stage.
