Hey,
You've all seen the lockscreen types:
-You have seen the actual lockscreens that can be chosen from the main phone settings. They come stock with the phone, and custom ones in ZIP files. Usually, the custom ones need to be flashed via CWM. They are immediately present when the unlock button is hit - a standalone app doesn't need to open/use up memory while the phone is locked. They're usually relatively simple.
-Then there are the standalone application lockscreens found on the market. They usually are adorned with a variety of nice gadgets/gizmos, and are very well polished. Some examples of these are: "GOTO Lockscreen", "Simply Lockscreen", and "Widget Locker". The downside? These applications need to open when you hit your unlock button, meaning sometimes you'll actually be seeing your homescreen first, and then your lockscreen once it's all loaded up.
My request is this: can we please get some more REAL lockscreens (the ones flashed via CWM) that are as decorated as the ones available as standalone applications?
Doing this would ensure our phones can have beautiful lockscreens without the shoddy startup of the standard application lockscreens.
Thanks.
It would be great to have some custom lockscreens for AOSP Roms like Redux or Oxygen, too.

Personally, I'd want the lockscreens to be universal to 2.2+ phones, but if that's impossible based on all the different ROMs, then some fancy ROM specific lockscreens can't hurt, right?

So I found this thread that has a Power Control Widget and Lockscreen Chooser that you can flash on the EVO 4G. My questions is can this be ported over or modified and made to work on our EVO Shift. So that we can flash it on our phones. I know they're using it on some roms as part of the rom.

This should be able to be ported over. Here is what you do:
1. DL Original base of EVO 3.70
2. DL MOD from thread
3. Compare the files from the MOD to the original using WinMerge - figure out what has been changed.
4. Compare the files from the MOD to original files from a Shift and try to bring those changes over to the Shift's files.
It seems really simple but there are a bunch of problems that usually jump up. I tried a few of the seemingly easier ones but was having trouble. But an easier way than porting this awesome MOD would be just use CM7
Sounds fairly straight foward. But, then again a lot of things do. I think I'll just leave it up to someone else for now. Might give it a shot if I get brave. Using the Mik v1.1, too set on it to change

The app is called WidgetLocker. For the notification bar Widgetsoid. But what I was talking about would be built into the rom itself. Not an add on app.

I remember seeing a screen shot of someone with the sense lockscreen - is this rom specific or is there a mod of some sort?
Get "Agile Lock" from the market. Its free with a paid version for extra options.
Miui has an easily changeable theme system, and the lockscreen is one of those things. It is fairly simple to find a LS that works for you
I think cm7 has one like it too built into the rom. Might be called lense.? I dunno I don't like sense anything so I don't use it.

I'm visually impaired using the DroidX 4.5.605 rooted.
Up until this Verizon update I've found my phone usable, but I need to do something to restore the usability I once had.
1. I would like a high contrast interface, though some have suggested black backgrounds and white text, I would also be ok with the opposite.
2. I would like to double tap to open items. Right now areas like SETTINGS open on signle tap.
Can someone recommend a theme and / or a ROM that would allow me to have both of these features?
TIA,
Cm7 has some themes that are black and white I run .602 gb cm7 rom works great

I love cm7 themes and roms! Def need to take a look there!
I'm sick of the "drag screen to unlock" screen and I'm looking for something more like the unlock screen from the newest Cyanowiz ROM, especially because it's pretty convenient to have a loud/silent drag switch on the lockscreen.
I was wondering if there are any flashable zip files that allow me to put this (or a similar) lockscreen on my current ROM, which I'm very happy with (TPC v3).
Thanks!
go locker has themed, or any other alternative lock app
Try miui home its pretty sweet

I concur. There's also a root helper mode which will replace your unlock screen on reboot. It's really handy, and mostly bug free. I really enjoy being able to slap widgets on my lock screen too. On top of that, you can select what kind of unlock action you want, and what swipes do what. Etc.
Do you know any completely different rom? Like miui for example! Lately I really get tired of roms that are just cleaned from bloatwares and everything else is same as the stock. Is it only miui and cyanogen that brings us original new futures? I wonder what is so custom and they call it custom rom. Is it so hard to take notification bar down or anything else and make it different and really custom? They must be sorted as custom and modified roms at least. Many of them are shown in screenshots with themes that not appear anyhow after flash. All we got is - + some apps and endless flashing process just to get back to our favorite. Really if some devs read my appeal please think about it. I am not sure but I guess is not impossible to add functions that stock roms don't have. Even if they seem not so usual surely will be appreciated. If someone know roms that are really different please let me know. Thanks!

After all, Android is Android, so you won't escape the notifications or the must-have apps (settings, etc.) The really only thing you can do is design an app that replaces the entire lockscreen, settings, laucher, app drawer, etc. To make it a ROM only feature would be .... a lot of work for nothing (as you can simple extract the APK and well... pirate it.
So ROMs are basically a window to the heart of the creator. It's their style, their apps, their child
R: Any completely different rom
Try paranoid android ROM, as far as i know it's the most customizable and you can use "tablet mode" to move the notification bar down etc.
