Getting files to show up in XOOM's disk while connected to PC? - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a large video file on my XOOM that I want to move to my computer. It's in the Movies folder which is on the root of my SD card. When I navigate into that folder while connected to my PC via USB, the folder is just empty. If I move the file onto the root of the SD card, it still doesn't show up. I'm thinking that I can just pull it via adb, but it's much more convenient just to drag and drop a file from the folder.
Any ideas on getting things to show up in XOOM folders?

How big is the file? Could you just use dropbox?

It's 265 MB. But I just pulled it instead. Still, it's odd that I can't see files on my XOOM even though I'm rooted.

[Q] internal memory issues?

You have to reboot the xoom before it will show up on your computer.

[Q] Cant find .android directory on sd card

I was figuring out how to read some of my own epub's on my phone through aldiko. I had a problem finding the root directory in aldiko. But i figured that out and after I figured it out. I wasn't able to see both directories that pop up when you click mass storage when its plugged in via usb to my computer. I can see the folder for DCIM and LOST.DIR but not the main directory folder.
I'm using a Droid Bionic with Verizon it's all stock and I have not rooted yet.
I've done some poking around and I still haven't found a solution yet but I've plugged the bionic via USB to my other computer and I still cant see the main directory. (I don't know if I'm using the right terminology) when I go into devices and printers and right click on the phone's storage drive, two drives are an option but only one is black and clickable and the other one (the main directory i assume) is grey and I cannot click it.
I dont know where to go from here so any advice would be appreciated.

Moved file from PC to Android not showing up

I can't seem to move a folder from my PC (Win7 64bit) to my rooted Android external microSD. Every time I move a file it shows the move but then when I go into the phone its not there.
It doesn't let me move the file onto the microSD card!?!?!?!
What file is it? What are u using to transfer the file, what from? Where are you putting the file?
Most importantly, did u browse to:
/sdcard/external_SD
And make sure it wasn't there instead?

Its a folder filled with my mp3 songs
I am using windows explorer
Using my PC (win7 64bit) via USB port
I am putting them into my microSD directly (in windows explorer it shows my phone and external microSD as 2 separate locations, each with its own letter association).
Yes I checked /sdcard/external_SD... not there not anywhere actually...
Did u use a file manager like astro or root explorer to check?

Yes but I also used windows explorer after disconnecting and then reconnecting via USB and it wasn't there anymore.
It maybe bcoz of errors and bad sectors of ur card, a full format should fix that
You're Either Nexus Or Against Us
Could be a problem with your computer, or the sdcard in your phone. Try a different computer first

Help in my files

Just want to ask, because I can't find some folders when I connect my phone to the PC, like the screenshot folder or obb files in my internal memory, however when I'm using file commander it's there.

ES File Mgr Issue With SD

I'm using ES File Manager to copy files from my computer to a new Note PRO. I can copy files to the internal storage but I can't copy to the external SD. Also, I cannot use ES File Manager to move files from internal storage to the SD. I can use the stock file manager to move files between internal and SD. So the questions are:
1) Can ES File Manager be made to copy files to the SD card?
2) If not, then can the stock file manager access Windows devices to copy files from the computer to the SD?
Likely the Kitkat SD write permission issue. See here:

Yep, that looks like it. Thank you. I'm not ready to root yet to solve the issue. I was not able to tell if this is a bug or by design. It's pretty limiting.
Still trying to figure out if the built-in file manager can be used to copy from a Windows computer to the SD card.
If you connect your tablet to your windows PC you should be able to access internal and external sdcard. They will show up as separate drives. If they don't, install Kies 3 then connect your tablet again.

I was hoping to get this done using wi-fi just for the convenience. It is something I did with previous devices. It always surprised when a basic feature goes away.
If you have an FTP server installed on your PC, My Files app can pull your files that way, then save them to external sdcard
ES File Explorer implemented the workaround within the first few days of KitKat's release. I've been using it to move files in all directions to and from my MicroSD on my Note 3, S5 and NotePro for months without issue. The main thing that doesn't work is renaming.
However, the WiFi transfer to MicroSD has been blocked by Google for security reasons after a series of WiFi-related file security problems. No file manager is capable of this without Root. Same as how you can no longer download files off the internet directly onto the MicroSD.
It's much faster to just pull out the MicroSD and plug it into a PC, anyway. The transfer protocols on Android are a nightmare.
