when i click on the top of the page to search by os or manufacturer, then LG these threads don't show up...which could lead to less active threads due to not being able to find them....how do we go about fixing that? who is the main mod OP?

you mean when you search?
you must type T-mobile OR G2X in the search... sense this phone is so close to comparison to the LG optimus 2X im guessing the mod named the forum T-Mobile G2x witch is fine because anyone looking for the LG G2x im sure will stumble upon a G2x thread that will link them to the forum... good question but im sure it will be fine as it is
I cant find it either, even posted link to get it for $49 after instant rebate and free activation and free 2 day Fed X delivery on new and upgrades over in optimus 2x forums. I asked mods to move it because I couldn't find the g2x thread.

I am having the same issue. This forum does not show up in the "find your device..." search at all. I originally found it from the link in the following thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1039546
I still have to use that direct link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1114) to get to the forum.
I have contacted a moderator to change the name of the forum to: T-Mobile LG G2x
this should help make it easier to find the threads/forums
hope this helps
** aslo requested that a few threads be put in the G2x forum (they were still in the O2x forum)
also it does not show up in the "compact" view for the threads.

come on people post things like this in the right area. your going to get more into then
Simple solution would be to tell them that its the wrong section, give them a 24 hour ban, and then answer the question when posted in the correct section...
waste the mods time in moving threads and deleting them, they'll waste 24 hours of your time for not reading simple rules, or having common sense
Mods, can we please figure out something with all of these for sale threads? This isnt craigslist. Can we get a new forum for them or maybe force them into the Accessories section?
I second this. It's getting old.
XDA has a marketplace. This is not the marketplace. All for sale posts should be at and ONLY at the designated marketplace forum.
yes, the for sale threads are completely out of control.

I think XDA requires a certain number of posts before a poster can see the Marketplace.
Agreed, way to many, we need to back in a dump truck to clean up the mess.
how about we unpin some posts too!

Only problem with that idea is the sheer number of people who don't have enough posts to see the marketplace forum. I'm still unable to see it, as I tend to lurk rather than post. Get the admins to remove the minimum post limit to see the marketplace, and you might see people using it more.
Absolutely agreed that the marketing posts need to go away. If someone can't use the relevant thread on XDA, well ... that's what Craigslist and Ebay are for.
Didn't even know there was a Marketplace. Working on more posts.
I am looking for another gtab so it would be nice to see the marketplace.
So, how many posts does one need to see the market?

I am interested in volunteering some time into helping to improve the XDA Wiki in order to bring a balance to the FORUM + WIKI equation. Who among this community has time (and is willing) to assist?
In addition to this post, I have brought the issue up with Dave Shaw who is the sysop of the Wiki.
ill spare some time since im always in here answering questions. I was going to ask Mr clown too make some stickies

Thanks fknfocused. If we use the Wiki properly, we can avoid having to tax Mr Clown with routine details... And, while stickies in forums are nice, they create a bottleneck since they are so tightly controlled.
I created a group for Galaxy S 4G Owners (http://forum.xda-developers.com/group.php?groupid=421) which you may be interested in. I am simply looking for ways to help us help ourselves better...

That is one problem; another is that old-timers post with a "+1" to mean they agree... I see that there is a request outstanding to add an "AGREE" button (like the "THANKS" one)...
The first thing that we need to do is to identify what information needs to be added. In the wiki, there has not been a GS4G page created yet. I've put a stub on my User page... This is one cause for all the noob questions in the fora, I am guessing. Since, at present, searches do not exist on the wiki side.
The things that are specific to the GS4G are the ROM Mods, kernel, and CWM (which, of course, is still beta)...
Announcement: New Wiki Page evolving
Now, when one searches the XDA-Developers Wiki for "Galaxy S 4G," the researcher will be directed to an emerging Wiki page about the SGS4G. Further, if one searches for "Nandroid Backup," the search engine provides a list of links:
General Reference
Specific Reference
Among other results
As stated in my previous postings here, together we can improve XDA-Developers by adding content to the Wiki which balances the content of the Fora (which are abundantly active!).
Again I ask, "Would you please help us in this venture?"
Resurect old thread.

Just putting this back at the top of the 'unread' list... maybe people will start jumping on the 'update the wiki' bandwagon.
I put some general guides on there. But what exactly should go on there?
Edit: Some user updates to this page is a pretty good place to start, I suppose.

Wait we have a WIKI? I've been around for a little while and I didn't know that. Maybe the first step would be to get the news out in a forum layout. Meaning sticky the link. Maybe put it into the subforum listing? Sounds like a great way to put all the resources available here into an easy to use format. I don't know much about how it works but if I can help let me know.

The basic wiki format is easy to learn. Just hit edit and see how the page is actually organized.
I updated the Gingerbread section on the Samsung Galaxy S 4G ROMs wiki page to place sort of a general template. I left out the ones based on leaks as they are pretty outdated.

Good to know that there has been interest in the SGS4G Wiki. And what a resource it has become!!
Remember, each page that gets added should also be added to the Samsung_Galaxy_S_4G category:
There's also a group for Galaxy S 4G owners...

Hi! I just got my first Android Phone.
The HTC Inspire.
I've been told I could speed up this phone but I'm also curious to know what else I could do with it?
I used to have an iPhone and I would just change the theme and stuff...
So, I suppose my question(s) is/are;
1. How can I speed up my phone?
2. What can I do with my phone?
3. Is there a site where I can browse custom themes for my phone?
4. how do I add custom ringtones/ringback
5. What are some basic things I should get before I start modding my phone and what are some neat basic add-ons out there to make my phone look "neato"
thanks for taking the time for reading this.
Really? It's here in the forum.
Wow...really...wow. do they not still play the noob video about searching when you first sign up for the site?

Swearing is not allowed in the forums. Only warning. Now as far as the other posts. Welcome to XDA and please do read over the rules you agreed to when you joined. You are expected to search for your answers instead of opening a new thread. Before you brick your phone (make it useless and non returnable) Take a few hours and read up on the stickies. Search around some and read some more. what you are doing is nothing like the Iphone, this is real hacking. Not a simple Security override like jailbreaking. If done wrong you could end up with more problems then you can handle.

Hello all g2x developers, me and other users have joined a new community while still maintaining this one. it is http://androidbible.info/home/content.php i am the maintainer and moderator of the g2x section and was told to ask for as many devs from the g2x section as wanted to join and post their roms their to. by doing it there you will have unlimited hosting for direct downloads for your roms. Plus we have integrated a live chatroom FACEBOOK style at the bottom, with this you can add friends and play games all on the forum. If you took the time to read this thank you and please think about posting there aswell.
Is it possible to see this site without signing up I couldn't on my phone will try when I get home.

edit: nope i suggest you make it so people can browse its contents without signing up first or i dont think it will go very far.
XDA is already the place dor devs to make roms and discussions. I don't need another site is needed. Sorry.
You need to make a change. I have never seen a forum that made you sigh up before you can even get to any content. I don't know if I want to join or not without knowing the kind of content there in.
