for some reason last night my nexus s's rear speaker stopped working, i couldnt hear music, video, or in call speakerphone at all. i flashed an old backup and magically the speaker started working. fast forward 18 hours and im back in the same predicament, i cant hear anything. does anybody have any idea what would be causing this. is my speaker busted or shorting out. i am rooted and running the latest ns collaboration in case that matters.
Bump.

Make a Backup. Flash something else or the same thing. see if it works. If not maybe your speaker is busted
this problem is of the your device hardware

I had been searching on the forum to see if anyone else had this issue where your speaker has stopped working. I have no idea what caused it as I was watching a movie one minute and the next I answered a call and after the call the speaker just didn't work anymore. I tried the headphones and they worked just fine and the phone was still putting out sound. I was right next to my AT&T store so I took it there after the usual power on and off again of the handset they just gave me a new phone (which I was more than happy since my old one had a scratch on it from work) so my issue is fixed but I'm just wondering if anyone has had an issue like this where the speaker has quit working.

Hi all,
Just wanted to put this out there to see if anyone else had experienced this. Using SGS2 skyrocket - stock 2.3.5 UCKK1 (rooted) and then updated UCLA3 everything (rooted) - When on a phone call after sometimes 1 minute and then other times 5 minutes my microphone stops working and the other person cannot hear me. I can hear them fine, but they cannot hear me.
Wired headphones work without an issue, but the internal mic seems to have an issue with my phone. a work around I read for the non LTE SGS2 works where you hit the speakerphone button and then they can hear you again and if you turn it off it buys you another 5 minutes or so on mic.
So frustrated with this that I am doing an exchange today on the phone.
Just wanted to see if anyone else had experienced and if there was a know n problem with the phone? Google and XDA returned very little.
Thanks!

Hey I too also have this issue, I had a temporary fix which lasts longer than turning on the speaker but it's still temporary, I have the skyrocket on Rogers and I called them in about it, apparently it has something to do with the network, they did some reset and told me to restart my phone and it worked for about a week or so, hope this helps, if anyone has a fix to this please reply
I read another case like this awhile back, try searching it up. i believe it was rma'd though
I have a very similar problem, I go "in and out" a lot. The problem is the noise canceling mic on the top of the phone by the headset input, I left myself voice mail on my home phone and while talking moved my finger gently over the tiny microphone hole and that causes me to go in and out.
For most turning of Noise Suppression in settings will work, for me it does nothing as if it is perma on lol except on ICS where it actually turns off (dont ask me I have no idea why)
hey guys,
i got a serious problem with the internal speaker of my mytouch 4g slide, it suddenly stopped working. i can't remember whether i installed a special software or updated the rom because it happened some time ago.
at the first time i was pretty shure the internal speaker is just broken and replaced the flexcable with the speaker with a new one from china and tested it before i replaced it - it definetly works. after booting all worked fine except for the internal speaker while phoning
did you ever have this problem befor with another device or do you know a way to test the internal speaker to exclude a software problem?

Hello, i bought a nexus 5 last week. Supposedly the phone had not working earpiece. Today i got the replacement part and changed and still is not working. I can speak via speaker or Bluetooth. Other issues are that the light and proximity sensors are not working. Also and i dont have sound true the speakers when im on a game or app. But i do have sound true calls. I already did a factory reset and installed a new room. running android l. Any help will be great
Thx
Can be a number of things not just the earpiece lol
i know it could be a number of things, so any ideas what to check. All the connections appear to be good and i dont see any broken contacts inside the phone.
The earpiece stopped working the other day out of nowhere... I have not dropped the phone, or gotten it wet at all (not that it should matter!) but it no longer plays sound out of the earpiece... Anyone else experiencing this issue? It makes it extremely difficult to be on the phone since I usually talk with the phone to my ear. I have made sure that the call volume was all the way up, so it doesn't seem like a volume issue either.
Any troubleshooting advice, other than making calls and seeing if it starts working?
Same problem with earpiece not working
Did you find a solution to this problem. I've just purchased the S7 and have discovered earpiece not working. Speaker works but not the earpiece nor headphone jack. Probably going to return under warranty but would be helpful if a known solution!
Hi,
did you find out what to do or is it just to send it to a technician?
mine is three days old and doesn't work from day one ...
Sorry for delay. No I didnt find a solution. I took it back to Samsung and they exchanged the handset under warranty. Goodluck.
