I mean left, forgot to put the L and the R on my hands today!

That would be the case if you have a phone with a logo. If you dont and your htc logo in in the centre of the phone like mine. The sensor is almost half way between the left of the phone and the h of htc (slightly to the right of that half way point).
Put it in front of a bright light and angle the phone till the glare isnt hiding the sensor. It is definitely visible.

If you look at the backs of your hands (not the palms), the left one makes an L with the thumb and forefinger. I've been using that tip since I was little.

Ah,lol, thanks for the tip....no more shapys on the hands...lol

Cheesy touchscreen fix/ no more squeaking

Grab a sticky note. Fold it up a cpl. times. Place in between battery and back cover. Start with 2 folds and add more folds as necessary. I noticed when my phone wasn't directly in my hand it was very hard to interact with the screen. I also noticed my phone and battery cover don't fit together super snug.
I think the screen is looking for a more positive touch. This will help make the phone a little more rigid.
*edit*Also when you push the button to remove back cover the phone "ejects" from the back cover

Assume this isn't affecting signal? I know the antenna is built into the cover.
Nope no problems so far. Signal has been same. Touchscreen has been perfect all day. No half ass swiping or unresposiveness at all. Works like its supposed to now

Cold weather causing touch screen spaz

Anyone else in having touch screen freakouts more often now that the weather is getting colder? Everytime I go outside for a cig and use my phone the touch screen flips out when I go back inside where its warm. Also this is my first android got it in summer when it launched what's a safe temp for the battery? I've never seen it go below 86f till now its goin below 75.

Are you running a custom rom? Mine used to do that and then I installed gingerclone. No problems now

Mine used to do that before I disabled the optical sensor, that little thing is quite a hassle.
This happens if my fingers are gressy or something I disabled the optical and clean the screen and washed my hands and I'm set

Keyboard and other elements shadowing normal?

Hi,
My nexus s is new and since day 1 i just use it with 0 brightness.after hours of exploring, i noticed that when i open up the keyboard for more than 10secs and drag down the notification bar the keyboard boxes can still be clearly seen.its like a shadow of the keyboard imprinted in the notifiaction.noticed this in market as well when searching for apps the keyboard shadow can be clearly seen.also more than 5 sec static on your homescreen, after that i drag down i can clearly see the icons shadows in the grey notifocation bar. Is this normal? All of you have this behavior when on 0 brightness?or do i have a weak display?its kind of annoying sometimes.

Its sort of a burn image. The blues fade out and get a yellow haze. You can test this by displaying a blue image for example google image blue and zoom in. Auto brightness and sleeping the ohone when not using will keep the colors rich. I had a vibrant that did the same thing.

Sucks but it cant be fixed without replacing the phone/screen

[Q] APN and Capacitive buttons questions

I just got my One X and everything seems fine so far, though I'll need to go to AT&T tomorrow to setup a new sim, because as far as I know, My old SIM won't work with the LTE right? I have the one from my old captivate that I cut into a micro sim for an iPhone 4 and I put that in the One X and the APN settings are wrong because they're the settings from the iPhone 4 I'm assuming. If anyone can help me out with the APN that would be great.
Another question I have is regarding the capacitive buttons. Do they only come on in the dark or all the time? I noticed that they weren't on but I turned off my lights and they came on.
Thanks in advance
My button lights are on all the time.

Mine seem to react automatically also. My home button also doesn't light up while the other two button do light up, so Ithink I have a faulty unit.

I would exchange it because of your home button issue. But nice to know that yours are light sensitive

Mine respond to light as well.

If you put your finger over the light sensor (like a quater inch to the left of the AT&T logo) you can see that the capacitive buttons come on. Though I'm looking at mine right now and it seems like they don't go off automatically once I take my finger away.

Are the buttons supposed to light up?

New to the one s. Coming from the sensation. Like the title says are the buttons supposed to light up? Mine don't.
Sent from my One S using xda app-developers app
Mine doesn't stay on either. Actually... The only time mine is ever on is during boot and when doing a hard reset. It seems like they should be on anytime the screen is on, the device would look a lot better that way.
Mine time it after inactivity, but they are in quite often
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda app-developers app
In a dark area, yes. Otherwise, no. It uses the light sensor near the HTC logo. If you cover your hand over that area, the buttons should light up. Mine do.
