Best Sense ROM? - Thunderbolt General

Stuck with Virus and BAMF for quite awhile and have been using Tesla Coil for a couple of days and beginning to realize, I don't mind sense.. in fact, I kinda miss it.
Wondering what your guys fav Sense rom is? Highest priority is functionality and battery life. About to flash LiquidSense now..

Try Perfect Storm ROM v1.3 with imoseyons's lean kernel v1.0 extreme. I absolutely guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Loving bamf remix
Thunderbolt «» das BAMF Remix

Just as a friendly tip, all ROMs are sense based. There are some with sense's skinning removed, but they still have sense framework.
That said, I just use Adryn's debloat rom and stock kernel. I am waiting for CM7

Virus Rom B3 With Sense and Ziggy's April 10th CFS Kernel.
Works great.

I'm on cm7 nightly 30 and loving it. Just checked and the 31 was released yesterday. I've noticed a huge increase in battery life and performance, especially without ADW Launcher and just using stock Gingerbread's instead.
I'm using the CoreDroid theme. It has excellent battery life and its smooth and fast. In the 4.8 update I noticed it had bast wifi signal pickup. Once they fix it ill recommend it

It's kind of a personal choice. I like RCMix, Coredroid, and Leedroid. I am currently hooked on Di11igaf's ROM, though. It's all about what you like, so just give them all a try and see what you prefer.
Depends on what you like, either be performance or look, I really like the sense UI, but I also love a fast phone, I have tried Coredroid, Android revolution, stock and Cyanogenmod 7, so far Android revolution seems to be the most stable of all, Coredroid had several apps force close and CM 7 was acting weird tried several flashes and all ended in reboot loop.
TPC v2 with Leedroid Kernel 2.2.8 is lightning fast, not a single issue with anything, gps locks in 10-15 seconds on 7+ sats, 2+ DL, 1.4+ UL speeds on average (i've hit 4+ DL and 2+ UL depending on time of day and location) and the battery is a huge increase over stock. Was seeing about 8 hours before battery warning with stock, now 12 with same usage (alot of conference calls, LiveProfile messaging, and march madness updates ). I flashed the dilligaf but had some issues with connection speed, but the rom and kernel are INSANE fast and he hasnt even OC'd the kernel yet (quadrant pulled a 2200, my current tpc/lee with stock OC+18 i only hit mid 1800s).
CM7 isnt done yet, for linux users its like a rolling distro, too many kinks and hate having to update nightly to find out what is working now and what that update broke, i need something stable as this is my work and personal phone, 'my android kernel ruined my radio' wouldnt be an acceptable excuse.
I haven't really wanted the flash of the other ROMs as i usually remove all the widgets from my home screen. If i want to know the weather, i goto the weather on the internet, if i want the news, i look it up, i dont need it updating on my phone constantly, and grouping of the icons defeats the purpose of having 5 home screens anyway, so that point seems moot....the only ROM i'm currently interested in is the ASOP style once dilligaf is done....my 2cents

My market wouldn't update with TPC and I could not stand the animations with LeeDroid although his kernel is the best out right now. My current setup is in my sig, was on RcMixHD 5.2 for ages but after a while, the novelty of Gingerbread wore off. I can't see any benefit of using a Sense Gingerbread ROM until custom kernels are available. I also ran CM7 for a while but I can't keep away from Sense, I love it!

okay soo i started off loving my tbolt. i ran bamf ginger remix for months without issues. i then changed to aosp and while i prefer it, many bugs and bad battery life are keeping me away.
so i went back to bamf and while i feel at home, i get alot of lag no matter what kernel i use. i need some advice on what to do and what rom is the fastest/lag free with the best kernel combo.
im dying here guys.
as far as setcpu settings i usually use ondemand or interactive no higher than 1228/245.

As far as I can tell, the Ziggy kernel in the latest Gingeritis3D is the smoothest. Might be something newer in the synergy ROM, but I'm getting good battery life and things are nearly lag-free.
I am running OMFGB right now, and while I do prefer AOSP roms, the battery life isn't great. I have an extended battery so the battery life for me isn't an issue.
I agree with the previous post in regards to Gingeritis 3D. I had version VII installed, deleted almost all sense out with Tibu and used ADW EX. It was nice having some sense, lockscreen, pulldown, but that was all I really liked about sense. I oc'd to 1.4 and thought it ran great with excellent battery life.

I haven't messed with uberBAMF yet. I understand it's a work in progess. I'm not sure what kernel it uses, but it might be worth giving a go. I'd love to think it's NOT a Ziggy or Imoseyon kernel just because I think Sense kernels NEED a LOT more attention.
im going to stick to bamf ginger remix until the theory 1.3x rom goes final. the newest ziggy kernel in synergy isn't very good imo, very laggy. i just extracted the gingeritis one and it's a kernel build from july, it's one of the better ziggy kernels. you know, the one from my thread that was removed. ill stick to it for the time being.
i just wish there were more stable aosp roms. no offense to cm7 or the devs, it's just not 100% yet and the battery life is ****, at least for me.

The Ziggy's in Gingeritis3D is different than the Ziggy's in the older Gingeritis. The clock settings and smartass parameters are different. I think part of the reason that Ziggy kernel is as lagy as it is sometimes is because of his smartass governor parameters. I think if they were tweaked to be a little less stingy the phone might be much snappier. As it is, that kernel seems VERY reluctant to creep past 1 GHz, like the load requirement for stepping up is fairly high. I think it's ramp down is just a little too aggressive, and the period of load polling too long as well.

I'm not sure it is. I know that one didn't go up to 2GHz. It's definitely a similar build. The up_threshold on the smartass on that one you extracted seemed even more aggressive than this one. I had issues typing with it if I set the min_freq too low. I run this one at 122MHz without a problem.
Edit: Actually, I'm sure it's not. The one you extracted didn't have the camera fix for the new base Chingy used for beta 6 and 7.

I would recommend trying the uber bamf preview 3. I tested out preview 1 and it was by far the smoothest feeling ROM I've used and it also gave me the greatest battery life I've ever had on my Thunderbolt. They've fixed a few bugs since preview 1 so I'm sure it's even better now. It includes a stock kernel by the way.
You may also want to try the latest nightly Synergy ROM, it's what I'm on now. Performance has been pretty good and battery is okay. I have SetCPU at 1344/245 with lagfree.

Better battery life, a De-Sensed ROM or AOSP?

Can't stand Sense, but seems like AOSP ROMs have its fair issues with the Thunderbolt.. Has anyone tried both? If so, which had the better battery life?

I like AOSP, but I'm just wondering if a stripped out/unbloated De-Sensed ROM has better battery life and less bugs than a AOSP one. Btw, I have a stock battery.. + 2 spares.
I got WAY better battery life with a de-sensed rom over AOSP. No matter what kernel/rom combination I try nothing has come close to sense or sense based roms.
AOSP roms are not perfect yet as far as the RIL, but way too much useful stuff on certain ones to go back to sense for me. Battery life is probably 12-16 hours on average for me on CM7 RC 1.6. If it lasts that long, it's good enough for me.
I think it comes down to personal preference. I didn't see a big enough difference to stay with one over the other for battery life. I'm sure it's different for everyone based on kernel settings, oc or not, number of things active in background, level of use etc.

I agree. Both are pretty stable now assuming you install them right and don't mess them up. Differences in battery are as you said, usage overall and what you installed after the rom. I'd say at this point in the life of both sense and the AOSP based roms. Much of how good a ROM is, depends on how knowledgeable a user is in using it to its potential, just like with any electronic device.

agree with this.
I dont notice ANY substantial difference between AOSP or Sense.
I've tried the following TB roms:
Das Bamf Remix 1.8.6 (and others in that series)
CM7
Various Synergy Builds
Gingeritis (current ROM)
I'm a heavy data/phone/txt user. I only have the standard battery. I get through 1 day on a full charge with any of the roms above, and no more then that.

By asking which is better you've now got all these "fanboys" from each side swearing that their side is the best. Well, honestly, both can be great on battery. The ROM doesn't play as big a role in battery life as you think. It's moreso the kernal & the radio.
I find on either side the MR2.5 & MR 3.5 radios do well. AOSP side the leankernal is great and on de-sensed the dreamkernal is great.

Thanks for the info. Trust me, I get the major reason for battery life is always a kernel and underclocking. I had the OG Droid and I modded it like crazy, the only reason why I started this post was because if Sense takes so much space and RAM I wanted one that was minimal. I'd take AOSP, but I searched a ton and it has its issues on the Thunderbolt unfortunately.

Any sense rom will always be slower than AOSP due to its bulk, the CyanogenMOD rom in my sigi that is now official is the best and fastest for the DS, as it was for the original Desire.
One word of caution though, if your after speed and are overclocking, speeds in excess of 1.1-1.2G should only really be used by Devs for stability testing. Prolonged periods at speeds higher than a gig or so will damage your phone in the long term.

If you have to O/C then it's doubtful that's its the fastest!
I tried Hydrogen for a few days and it's really fast but the battery life sucks. And I'm not sure but I think, Hydrogen sometimes interrups my calls.
I use LauncherPro für custom dock and icons so I don't need Sense.
Any hint for a smooth ROM with maximum battery life? Is it CM7? I read about Pure S but I'm not sure whether this ROM is supported and up to date.
To me the best ROM would be one with superb battery life
I have tried LBC, proxuser's Desire S Sense 3 and CM 7.1 RC in the listed order.
Stuck with CM7 (performance is out of question - it is very fast) but the most important for me is that I have 4+ days between recharge with moderate usage
No other ROM of the above mentioned lasted more than 2 days.

Sorry I've just noticed your question, but the answer really depends on what your doing. A demanding game at a high clock speed is going to create more burn than simply running some mundane tasks or browsing or what ever. You're talking months before instability creeps in, after that it wont be long before you get a fatal crash no mater what speed you've reduced your clock too.

[Q] Feedback and Question on best ROM?

Hi guys I have gone from one ROM to another all professing to be the smoothest or most stable but all have left some what of a bitter taste in my mouth. My current ROM seems to be the most stable and have all the basic modcons working AndroidHD v1.0 | ICS
So I’m on a UK I9020 and I’m like preferably ICS over GB and main important points to consider for me would be
Battery Life, Stable, and Fast,
I am a bit of a power user but the ROM don’t have to have to many mods or sparkles just need something that doesn’t reboot at least twice a day and gives me battery life for 12 hours plus with fair use of apps and internet.
Please help at the end of my tether
yeah i'm in the same spot...i have been trying some ics roms and many claim "fast & stable & rock solid & butter smooth" etc
But they dont feel that way to me...i really like ics but i think its still slowish. GB is way faster.
Currently on codenameandroid 1.2.0 with matr1x 15.5 cfs
Come on guys don't all hide now lol, need your applied knowledge. Some one must have some thing they can recommend
try AndroidMe 1.1.0 not a single issue for me ,when on others ics roms i had fcs and reboots.
battery life around 16h with 3h of 3g and 3h screen on with brightness set at 68%.
CM 9 1.1 has been stable and brutally fast, better than stock IMHO. Only thing missing is FB sync.

Only thing thats kept me from CM roms is the worry that apps wont work with them, what sort of uptime do you get?
kangy v10 or AOKP milestone 3, damn good , with Matr1x kernel.
smooth , stable , battery friendly
im using the last cm9 kang with a bare boned(no mods added) trinity kernel, not a single stutter or speed bumbs. fast, stable, and everything works.
Now I'm using CyberGR-MOD|NS.NGN ICS v.5 HYBRID+Matr1x 14.5CFS, well, as far as I can tell, it is quite stable and battery is not draining so fast.
Try some roms with AOSP tags, these roms have less modifications and mods, and maybe have a better better performance.

Downloading 4.0.4 rom ported from NS4G. Hope it fix the speed problem.
Don't want to use 2.3 anymore, though 2.3 is fast and stable
I tried these custom roms -
Mv 2.1.27, 2.1.28(cm9) lots of added features, but less stable than stock
Miui - although I am a Chinese, don't like this Chinese rom.
Slow. Don't know the cause. Rom still in alpha? Or wasting CPU power on beautiful ui?
Unfamiliar ui Is another problem. Not my cup of coffee

No reboots on stock kernel and CPU speed. Overall, I've found all ICS ROMs to be moe robust than gimgerbread, with very little issues.
