Nexus s att bands - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im just curious as to what my first move should be with it. I know for starters you have to root it. What else am I looking at as far as changing roms and such.
Im coming from the captivate forum and things were very easy to mod that phone.
Any help would be appreciated.
thank you

Do your research, determine what it is YOU want from a phone and make your decision based on that.
Every phone has it's good and bad points.
Asking your question in a Sensation forum is sure to bring a swag of "buy the sensation"
Buy what you want.
The Sensation ticks all the right boxes, so it is great for ME.
Happy purchasing.
A group called revolution.ip has a beta method to unlock the bootloader, so your need to try different ROM's can be satisfied with the Sensation.

SK4G is unsupported both by devs and Samsung. Aren't you guys still stuck with Froyo or something? Either way even if you get GB you'll never see anything past GB unless you get CM9, which is highly unlikely.
MT4G has awesome Sense ROM's, a solid MIUI ROM, and a very stable CM7 ROM with CM9 looking within weeks.

What he said
I actually traded my sk4g for a Mytouch and its completely with it. Yes a keyboard its nice but there's no development, and the Mytouch has a bigger screen and typing/swyping is a lot easier that on the sidekick screen.

Getting a Mytouch 4G for a Sidekick 4G is like getting an Audi for Kia (I don't specifically have anything against Kia, but I doubt anyone will argue that a Kia is a better car than an Audi). Don't ask questions. TRADE! Trade and run before your friend realizes their mistake.
I played with a Sidekick 4G for a few minutes and it was a joke. Minus a physical keyboard a Mytouch 4G is better in every way.

Make sure it has the good screen and good chip.
The screen is good. Beautiful. But what mean by chip?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
one of the chips are known to have a higher failure rate, i have the bad one and its been ok for a bout a year.

Do you know a good ron to recommend?

its all personal preference, i like sense, all the new sense 3.5 builds are awesome. just flash em all till you find one you like.

[Q] Opinions on an older phone

Im looking at getting an older android phone just for rooting and flashing roms. OK .... to play around with it lol... Any opinions on what I should get?
I'd recommended a Droid Incredible. I loved that phone when I had it and there are a bunch of roms out there for it.

I was kinda leaning toward the incredible. its hard to find them.
Check http://www.swappa.com

what about the HTC Eris?
No question, get an HD2. They're incredibly cheap because they came with Windows Mobile as stock, incredibly easy to flash and has the largest spanning forums of any device. You can get every flavour of Android on it from Sense to Touchwiz to AOKP to ICS MIUI. AND, if you're bored you can play around with Windows Phone 7

S2 will be good no?
I didn't even think about the HD2. ill need to look at that... thanks

Just to help you decide, you should probably look at the HD2 Forums
its hard to find them. i just looked and the HD2 is pretty hard to find
I would go with something overbuilt at the time to keep up with the changing flavors of Android.
HTC incredible, definitely, it's a fun learning phone and many still work on it.

No fully functional ICS/JB Rom port if HTC doesn't give us ICS?

Ok I haven't exactly found an answer for this so I'm asking. First Why do people say we won't get a fully functional ICS/JB Rom port if HTC doesn't give us ICS?
The reason I would like to know this is merely because I have a Samsung captivate, it has ICS(fully functional), and Samsung never released ICS for it. I know that its different hardware and manufacturer, but wouldn't the same concept apply to all devices?
If not please explain why the same concept doesn't apply here.
Thanks.

There are some really great ics roms out here and desirehd forum. They just have very minor issues which don't bother me at all. The issue here I noticed is that no matter what the devs give is the users will never be satified and will always complain about something whether this or that or not getting this or that. As far as I'm concerned I have a fully functional ics rom thanks to LC and Exists( hope its spell correctly)lol and a few other devs here.

It doesn't apply here because its hardware is 90% the same as the nexus s and that got ICS source a long time ago. We don't have a similar nexus device like that so it is more difficult .

So I have another question...considering the HTC incredible s got ICS will that help them port ICS to the Inspire 4G/ Desire HD considering Its very identical?

I'm not sure, I think once source is released it is a possibility but I'm not positive so don't quote me on that.
