Disable volume rocker sound - HTC Desire S

I've tried searching with no luck (maybe I just suck at it). Is there a way to disable or change the "plinking" sound of the volume rocker? It's driving me mad.

I want that too! My device has volume locker up very sensitive, small presure activates it,yet the button seems to work properly.don't have patience to wait for warranty and thank god is the volume up and not down.

This is the one thing that bothers me with my Inspire. When pulling out of it's case I constantly hear the plink sound. I've installed Volume Lock from the market, but that doesn't take care of the sound.

Unfortunately I think we are stuck with this one. I had this minor quibble with my old Desire too. I can confirm there is no option that I know of to disable it.

I guess the location of the volume rocker sound is not device specific, so has anyone found where it is? I want to replace the sound with something else, but I can not find the file location. It's not in /system apparently, or I am looking in the wrong places.

Hi guys
It's 7 mp3 files in /system/media/audio/ui
Download THESE and put them in your ui folder...works for me
It's 7 mp3 files with silence, you can also try deleting them, but I'm not sure what happens
Cheers

That doesn't seem to work for me. I put the files in /system/media/audio/ui via "adb pull" and verify they are there, but that doesn't change anything. Rebooting the phone doesn't help either.
What firmware are you on? I'm using Android 2.3.4 (Cyanogen 7).

I think you mean ADB push, right?? If you used pull, you'd be copying those files from your phone and overwriting those on your PC...
the syntax goes:
Code:
adb shell mount /system
adb push volume-1.mp3 system/media/audio/ui/volume-1.mp3
adb push volume-2.mp3 system/media/audio/ui/volume-2.mp3
...etc...
But it si possible that CM7 has these sounds elsewhere, so try searching for .wav/.mp3/.ogg file in the ROM...
It is also possible these are packed in some .apk file as a resource...in that case you need to find what .apk file it is, decompile it, replace those sounds, recompile it and push back....

Change Keyboard sounds?

I've navigated through the system files to /system/media/audio/ui to try to find the Samsung Keyboard noise, but alas, unable to find.
Anyone able to help me out on this? Is there an application that lets you modify application sounds? I understand the ogg file converter and pushing via cmd prompt, so if you could tell me where the Samsung Keyboard sound is that'd help the poppaloppin' noise is too loud for my taste. I know you can disable it but I prefer another sound. Thanks!
I was thinking the same thing. I have the Samsung Vibrant stock 2.2 and with the loud ticking noise it makes me want to turn my phone on silent. But rather than complaining and hating it, I want to make it better. like the older LG Quick messaging phones (I dont remember which model) had a full qwerty keyboard and every different button you pressed made a soft simple little note from a keyboard or piano or something. so whenever one of my friends was typing a text it sounded amusing listening to little songs that can be made by simple random letters being pressed.
So I would just like to know if anyone knows where these files are located, because finding them is the hardest part. making the noise would be nothing at all, it'd just take a few hours. just pull up a sound board and make different notes for each letter. Anyone have any ideas??
UPDATE:
ok so if you get root explorer (obviously needs to be rooted) and go to
/system/media/audio/ui
you will see the ".ogg" sound files. you can replace any of those, as long as you name them the same file names as the stock ones. I replaced mine with the linda voice
link --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=962442
it also has an ".ogg" sound file for these:
"keypress standard" (regualr letters)
"keypress spacebar"
"keypress delete"
and "keypress return" I think was the last one (probably the enter button on keyboard)
I'm actually about to go home and play with those and see what I can make.
I still want to be able to do a different tone for each letter but have to look further into that. so far this is ok
Man I've done that 3 times now using the .ogg keyboard sounds I pulled from a different ROM I really wanted, but no matter how many times I delete the originals then rename mine exactly it stays the same! I'm losing hope and patience.

Sorry, I missed your response! I couldn't figure out how to get custom sounds going so I just reverted to the stock files. It's aggravating that LineageOS keyboard sounds are so horrible, lol, but oh, well.

[Q] A permanent way to disable camera shutter sound? S4G

I know I can turn the ringer volume down to silence the shutter sound but...is there a way to permanently disable it?
delete it? any help is much appreciated. thank you!!
You'll have to root your phone, mount the /system partition read/write and delete the sound file that's located at /system/media/audio/ui/camera_click.ogg
not a problem. now, im assuming that this will just take the picture without the sound...and im also imagining that i wont experience any fc's.
thanks, man, ima nandroid and delete that file.
you don't have to delete it, just rename it, maybe you want the sound back

Bluetooth stereo headset buttons turn screen on why?

I am using Motorola S305 Bluetooth Stereo Headset and a Nexus One.
I use the Rewind/Fast Forward buttons with MortPlayer while listening to podcasts to rewind or skip forward in the podcast.
However, pressing any of the buttons first turns the screen on. This is silly because then I have a phone in my pocket or backpack with the screen turned on just wasting my battery.
Is there a way to stop this? Has anyone else experienced this?
This happens to me too, I have the same headset and an Atrix with PowerAmp. This also happens with the voice control.

Hah, funny you bumped this
I just upgraded to a Sensation and problem solved. Must be a Nexus One issue.
No is not problem with nexus ,i have htc hd and motorola s9 and i found a solution:i just installed another player conduits pocket player
it has many great options and one of them to "lock buttons toogles screen"
If your phone is rooted, I might have a solution for you (worked on my Xperia Mini Pro):
Edit the file /system/usr/keylayout/AVRCP.kl
(create a backup of this file, just in case something unwanted happens)
Remove the "WAKE" flag from the end of each line (I also removed the extra spaces, no sure if it's needed).
If (and I didn't find another way of doing this) you copied it to edit it, and then put it back in place: don't forget to keep the ownership/permissions!
On mine (android 2.3.4, based on xperia mini pro stock rom) I had to:
chmod 644 AVRCP.kl
and
chown root:root AVRCP.kl
Reboot your phone, and voila! No more "wake" events before the actual wanted event (play/next/previous...).
Hope this helps

Wow, blast from the past haha! (I kept my subscription to my thread)
Like I said previously, I switched to a HTC Sensation and it doesn't happen anymore. That is, if the lock screen is enabled.
I use NoLock to disable the lock screen, and when disabled, this issue does reappear. Odd...
I may have to test your method (I am rooted), though it seems somewhat daunting.....

[Q] Unlock.ogg/Lock.ogg Optimus F6 not changing

Phone:
LG D500 Optimus F6 Black
Rooted - tested.
Used apps:
Root Browser.
Droid Explorer.
I'm fairly familiar with rooting. That's done.
Okay, so I have manually removed the original .ogg files from root/system/media/audio/ui and replaced with my own.
They all seem to work fine except for the Lock.ogg and Unlock.ogg files.
I have set permission correctly on the replacement ogg files.
Even if I simply remove them without replacing. Locking and Unlocking still plays the original sounds.
Anyone got any ideas where I can find the real copies of these two ogg files?
Perhaps it's cached?
Is there a debug program I can use to track down the sound file?
Rebooted plenty of times.
I also disabled from the phone's Lock Settings and even changed it to a key combination, and repeated my steps. But no luck.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Another thing that caught my attention. I can't seem to find the volume slider ogg (if there is any) - the sound the phone makes when you press on the UP or DOWN volume buttons. Could be that the unlock and lock ogg files are located along the volume slider ogg?
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

No Shutter Sounds [Root]

Got the silence files from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66258646&postcount=13
You DO NEED ROOT but its simple.
There are 6 files that need to change in system/media/audio/ui
af_failure.ogg
af_success.ogg
cam_snap_0.ogg
camera_click.ogg
camstart.ogg
camstop.ogg
With a root file manager (root explorer, etc) rename those 6 files to .old and replace with the files in the zip provided. Then just FIX PERMISSIONS and reboot.
Very nice find.
For those without root, i'll add this: I was playing with a camera app last night that was recommended somewhere, cymera maybe? And in it, it had an option to go silent. I turned all my volumes up outside the app, went in, took a picture, zero sound. So that might be an option for others.

Thx, works good.
I have the T-Mobile variant and if my phone is on silent, there is no shutter sound.
I believe this is a way to silence the shutter sound without having to add the step of muting your phone.

Hmm so I'm trying to figure it out but no luck yet. I have the sounds disabled in camera except one. When you long press the take pic button. It does the multiple shots til you let go, the click sound is there. Any idea which sound file that is?
