Hello,
I am looking for an Android app (and/or driver) that allows me to connect an external USB GPS (Garmin GPS Map60CS) to a standard 7" tablet (Android 2.1), which has USB host capabilities.
The purpose of this is to be able to upload/download tracks and waypoints to/from my GPS while travelling. This would be great because would enable me to travel without laptop but tablet !
As an example, there is a similar solution for Windows CE phones and serial GPS´s, which I have used many times: G7toWin
http://www.gpsinformation.org/ronh/g7towin.htm
Another solution would be to connect a USB-to-Serial dongle to the tablet, and (hopefully) this could be connected by RS232 to the Garamin GPS. But an app is needed anyway.
If someone can point a solution or suggestion, I would be very happy.
Thank you very much.
Sorry for opening an old thread, but did you find any solution?
ciao

Hi
I'm trying to get my GPSmap 62 work as a mass storage for my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 using an OTG cable but that just doesn't seem to work. Did you do something special to get your Garmin and Android to do that? Such as rooting or using some special file manager app.

I'm pretty sure that my android (then) was rooted. I use "Total Commander" and in the options you need to let it have root function all around - but other apps like it will also work.
Haven't used it with my 'new' phone cause haven't had the time to play with it (even after 6 month :$)
Hello,
I thought people in this thread might like to know that I made an app that can transfer waypoints and tracks in both directions between an Android device and Garmin GPSMap 60Cs. I'm currently trying to find out if there are more people interested and if so then I'll add support for more Garmin GPS models and publish the app.
Here's my original thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/help/transfer-tracks-waypoints-to-garmin-gps-t2858387

Hi guys,
I use my touch pro for numerous official reasons and projects. It could be anything, starting from a powerpoint presentation to a report writing and all those. However, I still need to carry my laptop around just to be sure that I have all the files and everything when I'm on the move.
That gave me an idea, was wondering if there is any method or an application, that I probably can make use of, to access my laptop remotely over wifi or internet. So that I can copy a file to and from my touch pro whenever is required...!!!
Thanks for any input...
That's the best roundup I found so far:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=288506
Enjoy
you can always make an adhoc connection with your laptop
and use resco explorer to copy files off a shared drive on the laptop
usee I actually wanna keep my laptop at home switched on during my work time and wanna access it from my office with the touch pro for file sharing purposes. is that possible by any means?
yeah, youll need to use port forwarding in your router
Hey thanks for that link It did work, I installed logmein and its working so far, but I have a small query. Does the free version get over after a certain period? And if does then can I reactivate it?
I've been using logmein now for years and the free verison does not expire.

Hi mate,
I have the same problem ...
I get to send files but not advanced functions.
I searched by google if anyone have the same problem but not found solution.
Salu2,
Siwy ;-)
i get this problem too!
I don't know where, but I read somewhere that is had to do but a new technology.
You also can't find your Bluetooth address, it's hidden or ''Unavaileble''. This is also the reason why I cant use my Wii and PS3 controller to play emulated retro games. This sucks. Maybe it can be fixed with complicated ROM and Kernel stuff.

u may be right bt when i played the music from ma phone to a laptop belonging to my friend with inbuilt bluetooth, it played without any problem so i really cant understand why this is not possible for external bluetooth devices... :-(
It works on my laptop with built in bt as well.

got the answer..
hey guys i googled out for the problem tomorrow for atleast 1 hour ..
finally got the answer that exactly the same problem is with sgs2 because neither microsoft nor external bluetooth companies have bluetooth peripheral device drivers for our devices.. just hope that either of the parties provide these drivers as soon as possible... till then no solution available....
I'm suffering this same issue, my w7 machine can't find the bt driver peripheral, but what feature is missing? I can send/receive any file to my R and my playback mp3 player works over BT like a charm.
So what extra feature we would get by installing this driver? The only issue is the exclamation mark I get in the control panel on devices list.
Have you tried installing kies? It installs all the required drivers for your phone. Do give a try and tell me as I have an XP not 7.

I am installing the Android-x86-devel-4.0 on a Dell D430 Laptop.
All Hardware working ok. (Audio, Wireless, Bluetooth, Battery ...)
I'm having problems with navigating officer, who gets a black screen.
E. .. I would like a help, not sure if it is possible. I would like to use the VGA output to reflect on another monitor.
When connected the laptop with second monitor attached, the internal monitor shows normally. the external monitor is on a black screen with:
Detecting Android-x86 ... found at / dev/sda1
A N D R O I D [email protected]:/ #
There is the possibility of mirroring the monitors?
Thank you.
Sorry, I don't have a solution for you. However, since I also own a D430, I'm looking for a working android port.
I'd really appreciate if you could share some more information with us.
How did you manage to install this version on your laptop?
And which exact version did you use?
(The only solution I found so far is from http://android-x86.moonman.dk/, however, wifi doesn't work.)
Thanks in advance!

This thread is about the "star one X2" or X2 mtk6575 phone.
It's one of the cheapest android 4.0 Chinese phone with mtk6575
As there is no topic about this phone I will start one !
1) The phone
star one X2 mtk6575 review
System
OS Android 4.0.3
CPU MTK6575
ROM 4GB
RAM 512MB
Screen
Display Size 4.0Inch
Type Capacitive touch screen
Resolution 800 x 480 pixels
Screen Color 260K Colors
It's a pretty good phone for the price (around 150 Usd). Battery last quite long, it's fluid.
I bought mine on antelife http://www.antelife.com/free-shipping-newest-x2-mtk6575-4-0-inch-screen-800-480-android-smartphone-with-os-android-4-0.html
Great website, with great customer service !
If you want any info, just ask
2) Usb drivers
I tried some drivers for mtk6575 but didn't work so I installed wandoujia
it is a Chinese program that almost recognize every Chinese phone and install drivers for it !
As I do not have 10 posts on the forum I cannot share the link but google it.
I uninstalled it after because I do not understand chinese, but it seems to be a great program, with which you can install lots of app (chinese app) that are not on the market.
3) Root
The easiest way to do it is with superoneclick !
It didn't work for me (stuck at step 7) so i used another tool that I found on these forum for the zopo 100
i had to restard my computer several time and launch again and again but it finally worked
Hope this thread can help some people
Hope customs ROM will arrive !
4) Stock firmware !
thanks to antelife.com customer service here is a link with stock IMG and some tools !!

Someone with the same problem?
Any ideas?!
Thanks
it's not the same model in fact,
not the same screen and not the same camera
One the X2 i do not have any pb of gps
Is there any topic about Star B79
no, but b79, x310e and X2 are similar phones. So we can group them in the same topic or just create another one, as you wish.
It it is for your gps pb here is what I have :
- geolocalisation and maps work well and fast with data (3g or wifi)
- if I turn off data if have no geolocalisation but I can load the map (even with the gps off so I don't really understand)
Greaves,
Regarding 2) USB Drivers:
There's now an English-language version of Wandoujia. It's called SnapPea and is available for free at SnapPea.com
Would love to hear your feedback--I know that's been a pain point for users with Chinese Android phones!

Have you found any problem? Or does it? For me it is important that the GPS works perfectly, you've got to try it with some browser? I noticed you added a link where there is the possibility to update the rom already, tell me what improvements to make? Have you already tested? Aspect of your news

i've just received this great phone.
I'm satisfied with the performance, screen and the touch pad.
I just wonder is there any official firmware/custom rom available yet?
If i'm not asking too much it will be great if there is a repartition fix also.
hello,
I have no pb with the phone except that the gps needs my 3g to be on to work (I use google maps).
The link is not for an update rom but for the rom that is already on your phone. It should help to do custom rom but as I don't know how to do it I don't know if there will be any

I got my Star One X2 last week, have exactly the same problem. I put Route66 (Navigaiton + maps) from andoid market its an offline navigator I just found. I put the same software on a Samsung Galaxy s2. Put both devices on the dashboard on the highway. Turned off WiFi and Data. It seemed equal for a while both were navigating the same way, but as soon as I passed a small village, the X2 would get out of track and show me in the woods or off-roads, while I was driving 130km/h, but the S2 continued just fine. It got back on track after the village was gone. Inside the town, it would jumb to different roads. So there has to be a problem with manucaturing. I just sent an request to the eBay seller asking for repair.....
Did you get any feedback on yours?

Thank you, my x2 has problems with the GPS, the wrong position 2-500 m.
In addition, each time using the GPS, after work with difficulty, almost blocked for 5 minutes. I'm going to contact the vendor for help, but if you could solve with a cooked rom and instructions for assembly, it would be great! (sorry I'm a little more than a rookie)
Hey all,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to be posting my question so if the mods could move me accordingly that would be great. Anyways, my question is does anybody know if there is a way to enable bluetooth devices while in recovery? I'm developing for the Xiaomi MiBox Mini and there are 0 usb ports so not only can I not connect a USB controller like a keyboard or mouse, but I cannot connect to a PC either. If anyone has any experience with this all help is appreciated.

The recovery would have to support bluetooth and have it auto enabled.
There is very little about your device on XDA.
I will request that this thread be moved to Android Stick Computers, where there are similar devices.

There is very little about it anywhere, but I feel that with a bit of development there could be a lot of potential with this little cube. I feel that the android stick forum would also be more appropriate. Also in regards to your first comment, is there anyway I could enable bluetooth on the stock recovery? I've managed to extract it but I'm unfamiliar with making individual modifications to it (eg. turning on services) or will I need to compile a third party recovery for my device such as TWRP to accomplish this. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
