[Latin America]Android 2.2 upgrade now rolling out in phases! - Defy Android Development

guys, apparently the 2.2 update is now being rolled out by Motorola Latin America...
https://supportforums.motorola.com/community/manager/softwareupgrades
Can anybody with Brazilian Claro or TIM firmware check the FOTA periodically?
There's nothing in the Motorola Software Upgrade yet, but let's see untill the weekend...

When the update is out and anyone of u upgraded, please report about the bootloader-version.

There is a nandroid backup on orkut.

yeah, i believe it's from Claro provider, but no one deserves a ROM so ****ed up like that... no Gtalk, no Gmail, no Google Search (Yahoo Search instead)...
I'm waiting for the Retail version

Really no one deserves that Claro ****, without the basics of Google. Let's wait for good news.

Wow, so this is "Q1" for Motorola. Then Q2 must be August or later. That sucks.

I'm on Tim but I'm using a custom rom. Btw I'm on Pays rom which is based on 3.4.3_11 uk tmobile rom, if I want to switch to a Brazilian rom(or any other) do I just flash it with RSD lite?

New ROM from India

Guess what! Defy released yesterday in India and it seems to be the one without Motoblur. Since a central european version cannot be used in India, there seems to be another firmware that Motorola came up with.
By the weekend I should have my friend upload the Deblured rom for us to use.
Well if 2.1 is still interesting for some that is.

Yes, I will need to teach my friend to make the backup and upload it from India. BTW seems like the version is called 2.52 . Sounds scary of it being unrootable and non-downgradable.
i got defy recently in New Delhi....version says 2.51.....i thought it had motoblur...now wud check again...
can somebody confirm whether the indian defy is rootable?
i am planning to buy this phone and if it is supposed to get froyo in june, i should rather stick with my galaxy 3.

haven't come across any unrootable rom yet.
and if you do buy it, please post your nandroid backup.
ps there are already froyo roms floating around. and no one knows when would an indian version would come.
ok so i can flash sbf files even if the bootloader is 2.51?
if yes then what is the problem with 2.51 that everybody is advising not to upgrade?

the problem is always that you can't go back. unless you have a nandroid backup. any future upgrade should be fine.
Price of Defy in India ... delhi Region in retail.... anyone.... ?
it retails for INR 18000 at flipkart.com
It's without MOTOBLUR???
Had the same here in Thailand. However I didn't make a backup before I put a custom rom on it. Wish I had!
But it's definitely out there. Mine was a 2.51 rom with static moto boot logo and no motoblur widgets or popups whatsoever. Actually, yesterday I found a file called JRDNEM_U3_2.51.1_DEBLUR_P3_SIGN_SIGNED_UCAJRDNEMARAB1B80AA030.0R_USAJORDANRTCEE_P031_A020_HWp3_Service1FF.sbf.gz at 4shared but now it has been deleted. Don't know if it was real though.

Yes you need to return your defy to UK 2.1 retail. Just a little favor after downloading the update from MSU. Please check the folder and share to us the SBF (or anyone who would update via msu.)
nice to see it finally making an appearance, even though it's retail only - so of course T-Mobile users have to wait even longer.
Personally, I gave up waiting and took the plunge to upgrade to CM7 RC0 - Motorola are just far too slow.
That's excellent news! Can anyone confirm the exact filename of the SBF so that I can download it direct from Motorola's server? It will be in the firmware folder of the Motorola software updater program directory during the download phase.

Eventually got an update down via the motorola update software, copied the .sbf file safely out of the folder and ran through the update. Just as i was in the process of creating a multi-upload account, i noticed something... As my device was bought through t-mobile, the update software decided i needed the 2.51 update (which is what was on it 6 months ago!).
Anyone with a retail version of the defy that can get the .SBF plz?

The file andy managed to download on his t mobile handset was the old eclair released months ago, and is available on the and developers defy page. It is not froyo, as indicated by the 2.51 build number.

Hi,
I went through the upgrade. I looked for the sbf and it was there. Once I finished the upgrade it had been deleted!!
Anyone doing the upgrade, please grab the sbf file before it competes.
Olly
I downgraded my phone to eclair now firmware version is 2.1 update1 and blur version is 2.21.0 retail en gb why the moto update says there is no updates available, does the kernal version matter for update.
Did you downgrade with the fixed 2.21 sbf plus nandroid method? Im not sure what godegroup version you have on your phone but will it let you install a full 2.51 sbf uk retail?

It's older than many others posted so the improvements aren't important, cause there are newer roms .
It's important that now Latam Defy+ owners can flash a SBF to revert this phones to the original state.

I hope you don't mind me saying, but you've been clearly annoying over the last few weeks.
Your whole dilemma started with carelessly flashing a BL7 rom on your (green lens?) defy and since then you don't seem to have learned from your mistakes.
As you've been told many times already, there's no way to downgrade your Defy and you should have stayed on the Froyo BL6 one, but still you deem it necessary to go on a mindless flashing trip (not the good kind either).
I have to try all ways. Here I no otvetel what loader used in the firmware))
After flashing full SBF DFP231 the phone again works fine )

[Q] uk xt925 ota upgrade

Hi I'm new on here so I hope I'm asking in the correct place!
I have two questions, firstly my RAZR HD has jelly bean system version 98.21.26002.XT925.Orange.en.GB
It states on the Motorola website that only phones running a retail version will receive the ota upgrade to kitkat....
Now it seems I don't have a retail software but there is no retail software for the uk RAZR HD just the orange software so is this the retail version and will I receive the ota upgrade eventually for my razr HD ??.
Hope someone can help thanks.
Can't believe this post has had so many views but no replies!
Is the question impossible to answer?
Is it because I'm from the uk and most of the users on hear seem to be from other countries?

hm just went to the moto website,
under orange: no moto razr hd;
retail; yes to kit kat.
tricky, tricky,
id suggest you contact orange to see if they will flash retail version or not;
maybe moto would make a retail ROM and then pass on to carriers to customize? I'm not so sure,
"Confirm you have a Retail model. Go to your device’s Settings menu and select About Phone. If you don’t see Retail (or RET) under System Version, go back and select your carrier."
best bet is that you're out of luck;
if you really want kk when its released just flash it...
Thanks for the reply djvita.
Yes flashing is an option but I'm not familiar with how to do that at the moment and then there's the problem of finding the correct Rom to flash for the uk??.
Wonder if anyone has received the official ota upgrade to kitkat yet on the RAZR HD?

Backup your device and use RSDLite to flash retail firmware http://sbf.droid-developers.org/download.php?device=6&file=105
Once you are done and you connect to the internet, Kitkat will be available. Do this on your own responsibility.
Still no kitkat ota here in the uk
you dont have to wait man if you must have it now. Unlock your bootloader via moto website if you haven't done so already. Then hop on the XT925 UPGRADE thread and flash away. KK is better than JB for sure.
Hi,
i've an XT925 purchased from Orange UK.
Few month ago i've unlock bootloader and i've flash CM11. I want receive official OTA update so I had thought of restore the old Jellybean 4.1.2 firmware using RSD Lite. Will I receive the OTA update I also (when it is released) or should I do some other operation?
Thanks and best Regards
You will and should have. I think Orange released their update. If not, you can flash it if you have stock rtfr installed.
I've had a rough time updating mine as well... It's been a nightmare so far.
What did you do?
Hi all, just to let you all know I've finally got the ota update to android version 4.4.2 kitkat.
Got the update about 1:00pm today wed 8th october.
Only took about 10mins to update and everything seems fine so I'm pleased.
System version 180.46.117.XT925.Orange.en.GB
Congrats
