I have looked all over the internet it feels like, and I have yet to find the answer i'm looking for. Hopefully someone can answer here.
My question is for work related outlook alerts. Right now I am using Touchdown on my Evo and really enjoy it but it is not for wp7 only android. Any Sev1 and Sev2 alerts coming through it allows me to use a different ringtone vibrate.
Is there a built in feature for WP7 outlook with custom alerts or an app that anyone knows of out there?
I really want to get a WP7 phone but unfortunately I have to hold off. So far even the reps at the Sprint store dont know. (please note: I didnt expect to find the answer at the Sprint Store but had to give it a shot)

hey everyone, i'm pretty sure i know the answer to this is no, but i thought i'd ask anyways.
i have 2 email boxes on my phone (work and gmail) does anybody know if its possible to have a different notification tone for each mailbox? i'm just wondering so i wouldn't have to check my email right then and there for an important work email when its just a personal email that could wait.

thanks, and if i get a for sure acknowledgment, i will close/delete this thread.

I could only find software to assign different ringtones to contacts for SMS but nothing for different e-mail accounts because they all go through tmail.exe which is where the ringtone gets assigned.
I don't think its possible at this point.
thanks, i wasn't sure if it was a single mail program (tmail.exe) that email went through or not, but that would explain why it's not possible.

I may have missed the idea - but if 1 (A) mailbox is important & 1 (B) isnt, couldnt you have A check automaticaly (and play a notification) and B check on demand (assuming B is basically your friends asking you for a beer etc!) so only the important mails interrupt you??
I know its not what you exactly asked for - but i dont know how to do what you asked, so i'm trying to find a suitable alternative. - hope its close enough!
Try PhoneAlarm you can do custom email alerts with it. Not sure if it will do exactly what you want but it may be possible.
Is it just me or does the HD2 email app suck. The SMS app isnt great either....
Though im much happier with this windows phone that my previous garbage Iphone.. i have to admit that gmail and sms works better on the iOS..
What are my alternatives here.. i did try to search and couldnt really find a good way of replacing these features to something which is clearer and that works better. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.. also if there is a cooked rom out there with a good sms and email application let me know PLEASE !!
also .. if theres nothing good out there.. is there any way that I can get my phone do always download full messages as they arrive, rather than getting a lame half email and then always having to wait for the rest of it to download ?
thanks !
No you are not!!! I hate it too and exchange is not any better. Using Imap they show the day I sync my folders as the received date and they are all out of order. Because of security reasons they do not allow html picts and other attachments. The only other programs I have found that are better are Profimail and flex mail. Both of them have problems too like flex mail does not support finger scrolling and Profimail has notification problems on PPC. I like and use Profimail but I will not pay for it till they fix it.
i also hated the stock email app, searched a lot, ended up using Profimail, which is much better though quite pricey. now use android, having amazing gmail and exchange support

Are you using the HTC junk, or the Microsoft stuff (outlook etc)?

I have never experienced that problem, do you have to manually download the whole message? Have you checked the download options, download whole message? (not just 50kb or some such size)
What other problems / dislikes do you have?
Hi. I'm ordering an HTC Desire HD soon after many years running WinMo.
I have my photos and SMS backed up on Microsoft MyPhone. I use Exchange so all my email, calender and contact info will be easy to sync. The same goes for my photos as I have them backed up on my PC. The issue is the text messages (SMS). Is there a way of getting them from my current WinMo phone or from Microsoft MyPhone onto my new Android phone? Anyone tried this before?
Sorry to post again on the same thread, but I was wondering if anyone new an answer to this? I do understand this is a busy forum but I am sure I am not the only one wanting an answer to this one. I have tried to Google to find out if it's possible to get the data from Microsoft MyPhone to an Android phone, or at least (as is what I want to do) get my SMS from my WinMo phone to my new Android one.
Any thoughts will be appreciated!
Googling found this : http://android.riteshsahu.com/tips/importexportmove-sms-messages-from-windows-mobile-to-android . i havent tested, some say it works some doesnt.
Or try sms migrator on android market, i havent tried this either. (Bear in mind this is a paid app)
Thanks so much for this. As I said I did Google and I couldn't find anything and I was also wondering if anyone had any experience. The first link you mentioned does explain how it is possible to transfer sms messages which is what I want to do- so I'll let you know how I get on. Can't do that now as I haven't been able to order the HTC Desire HD but hopefully Orange will have some in stock next week!
Does anyone know if anything is in the works to allow WP7 to read Outlook email outloud, i.e. Text to Voice?
I thought this would be in WP7 or have an app for it, but can't find any apps and more sadly, not hear of anything coming down the road.
TIA.
tellme in windows can read texts out loud so the technology is there. It just hasn't been applied to the calendar or outlook app yet. When driving this would be a nice feature. The only time i think i would use it though.
Hi,
perhaps you can find a hint on this here
After reading I thought, that it must be a builtin function on mango at least for short message but because SMS is in message hub, so why it should not read mail messages too?

In car while driving is exactly the purpose. I would expect this would be used for SMS as well.
We miss notifications on our android device being busy in other work. Some of those notifications might be important or we are interested in them and some of them might be boring and we do not need to pay attention for. But, we do not know what the notification is about until and unless we see them. So, have you ever thought of any alternative which reads out your notifications loud?
So, from now you can know where those notifications did came from and whether do you need to look at it or not. Here are the things which you can do with Shouter Android App on google play.
It does some things more, It announces the caller’s name in between your ringtone and detects and reads out missed calls. You can configure it to read your messages.
Here is a nice blogs to know more about shouter.
