Am I the only one who hates the HD2 email app ?? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Is it just me or does the HD2 email app suck. The SMS app isnt great either....
Though im much happier with this windows phone that my previous garbage Iphone.. i have to admit that gmail and sms works better on the iOS..
What are my alternatives here.. i did try to search and couldnt really find a good way of replacing these features to something which is clearer and that works better. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.. also if there is a cooked rom out there with a good sms and email application let me know PLEASE !!
also .. if theres nothing good out there.. is there any way that I can get my phone do always download full messages as they arrive, rather than getting a lame half email and then always having to wait for the rest of it to download ?
thanks !

No you are not!!! I hate it too and exchange is not any better. Using Imap they show the day I sync my folders as the received date and they are all out of order. Because of security reasons they do not allow html picts and other attachments. The only other programs I have found that are better are Profimail and flex mail. Both of them have problems too like flex mail does not support finger scrolling and Profimail has notification problems on PPC. I like and use Profimail but I will not pay for it till they fix it.

i also hated the stock email app, searched a lot, ended up using Profimail, which is much better though quite pricey. now use android, having amazing gmail and exchange support

I have never experienced that problem, do you have to manually download the whole message? Have you checked the download options, download whole message? (not just 50kb or some such size)
What other problems / dislikes do you have?

Group Texting

Hi Guys
probably a very common request but, has anyone seen an app that properly integrates into the WM address/contacts book and allows group texting?
I've tried some poor apps that are outside of the address book and (sadly) most of them don't work properly anyway :-(
Thanks in advance!
Don't know if you have tried this but Auto SMS Reply v 2.0 has a tool called Send MASS Sms that sends group of SMS to your contacts. It also has a host of other features like automatically sending SMS to your missed calls etc..
I use a TYTN 2, WM 6.1 ROM and auto SMS works fine for me..
thanks for that. Not heard of it so will download now and give it a try
lol - found it and had a look and whilst i think the "SMS Call blocker" auto-response could be very funny, its not really what I was after.
I really want something that integrates into the current address book system, thanks anyway though!
Group SMS can do wat you want. And it does a very good job if I may say so!
Only disadvantage might be that it's not intergrated into your address book, but for me that's no problem.

Thanks for that however, used that one and it didn't work very well for me at all! Problems ranged from not sending to all the group to some members of the group receiving the same message a few times.
That's to bad. I've used v1.4.5 on the HTC Trinity, TouchCruise and Kaiser. And it worked very good actually.
Hope you'll find the right app. for you..
try the app i hv developed and see whether it works for you.
Check my signature for the link.
HERE is the correct link.. ..your website URL's seem to be a bit messed up

Messenger App?

I am looking for a messaging app that will allow me to use skype, aim, and msn. The more important thing is having them run in the background so I can receive skype updates, calls and messages while utilizing the rest of my phone. Anyone know how to do this, or can point me to link about it. I looked for the last hour, but couldn't come across anything.

I don't know about the Skype part (haven't really needed to look for a client to support all those), but for AIM and MSN, try Palringo @ http://www.palringo.com , I have used it and it works pretty good for those and other IM's as well... Hope that helps a bit.
I really like Nimbuzz. Pretty sure it has skype.

I've used Nimbuzz... not a bad choice either, and if it has skype ( i havent used it in quite some time) then that would probably be the best solution.

Thanks Nimbuzz does have skype, I am going to give it a try and post in a few days how I like it. If anyone else has an idea let me know and I'll try those as well.
I have Agile Mobile. It works really well for AIM, MSN and Google (don't know about skype).

[Q] Is it possible to import sms messages to WP7?

as above
i have some important messages in my touch pro that i would absolutely loathe to lose, and i'm going to buy a WP7 device as my contract expires this month.
can some kind soul with a working device tell me if this is possible, or is there any article that mentions it?
Thanks
I think the myphone service should do it...
http://sn1-p3.myphone.microsoft.com/mkweb/Start.po?mkt=en-GB
oh...yeah right
i clean forgot about it since i use spb backup more
thanks for reminding me
From what I have seen and tried I can find no method to restore the SMS from an older 6.5 device to a WP7.
Were you able to find a solution?
Nope-- there are even solutions to import WM 6.5 SMSes to Android, but nothing for WP7- it's far too locked down.
thanks for the confirmation, as I have tried a million things and I even looked at the SMS store and it looks too locked down to even write a app to do it.
Has anyone had success at sync'ing SMS from Exchange? I have got it set up but the messages dont appear to sync to the phone....have I missed something?

Nope, WP7 doesn't support Exchange SMS sync (or SMS sync with anything for that matter).
Ironically this was one of the features added to WM6.5 with Exchange Server 2010, yet its successor (if you can call it that) lacks it.
Might get added in a few years' time, once other more basic deficiencies are addressed.
weird that this phone addresses the joe-average user, and I dont deny it, but not having a restore/backup function is poor and a ovesight....

Do I understand it correctly that using http://sn1-p3.myphone.microsoft.com/...t.po?mkt=en-GB to upload sms through WM6.5 then download to WP7 is not possible ie does not work?
Thanks

That's correct, one of the best things Microsoft created for WM6 doesn't work with WP7.
If you copy your important SMSes to the SIM card beforehand they will automagically appear on your WP7 handset.
Thought of doing that but couldn't see how to do it on wm6.5 [I have another wm6.5 phone I could copy to sim if it was possible]
wow, surprised to see my thread bumped up
my sms messages run up to the many thousands
not very possible eh?
but then, i guess a suggestion would be to prune them and keep the important ones
How to copy all sms to SIM on WM6.5?
Hi
Any idea how to copy all sms to SIM on wm6.5?
Thanks
Amedeus

[Q] Move SMS from android to WP7

So is that possible? If yes, how?
Also contacts, they transfer with the sim card because I have saved all my contacts to my sim card?
I'm not sure its possible to do that, since there is not native way to back up and save your current WP7 text messages. I doubt there would be a way to transfer ones from anywhere.
However for contacts, since you have an Android phone you most likely have a Google account. Just sign in with your account on your WP7 device and it will all sync like magic.
Behold, the cloud.
WP7 doesn't have SMS backup? wow... Well, that sucks, I really don't want to lose all my messages, some of them are really important and bring back good memories...

Thanks, but that isn't what I'm looking for... I dont even have a WP7 at the moment and if i Can't get my messages to the phone it's a major let down...

You must be really attached to those texts. You know all the naughty pics you can just send back to yourself.
No nothing like that XD there's just some messages that I really want to keep... Even though I usually don't read my old messages I just want to keep them as memories
Yes,
it's been a while, but the subject's still up-to-date.
Same thing here. I'd just like to move from Windows Mobile 6.5.
From Exchange 2010 it's possible to sync text messages between the phone and the server. But it appears that goes only for messages which arrive AFTER the sync setup. I haven't found a way to make the phone upload older texts to the server.
Also I don't think a new phone would download all past text messages from the server after pairing.
There's poll to make Microsoft implement a way: http://wpdev.uservoice.com/forums/110705-app-platform/suggestions/1901813-sms-backup?ref=title
That's the only thing preventing me to move to WP7. Most awesome would be if PIMbackup would provide a way. I've asked the programer via mail if he saw a way, but I haven't gotten any response.
If I had no other choice I would forward those SMS messages to my self some how either through email or someother method. Just an idea.
Basically a nice idea. Unfortunately sender numbers and timestamps would be lost :-(
With multiple hundred messages that's important data for me.
But thanks for the idea!

[Q] Gmail won't allow to respond to calendar invites

Hi
I've searched for a solution to this problem and cannot find it. It either seems to work for people or it doesn't. As I understand it since a Gmail update at the end of last year this should work. So why isn't it for me?
The problem is when I receive a calendar invite in my email, on my old Galaxy S3 it would need to open the ICS in Calendar for me to be able to accept it. This was not ideal but it worked and I was never able to improve it. In my new Oneplus, it's even worse - if the invite is from Outlook I just get a blank email, with no ICS let alone yes/no options. From Google Calendar, I get weblinks and it takes me to a browser version of the calendar.
I cannot get my head round this, how can it be that the iPhone app by default has simple yes/no/maybe buttons that work in the email without jumping to any other app, but on Google's own phone it seems to have a problem with such a basic feature?
Please help, driving me mad! :crying:
Cheers
No-one?
OK, so can someone help me out with how this SHOULD work?
Here's what I see in the iOS app with an invite from Outlook:-
View attachment 2957495
And here is what I see in Android:-
View attachment 2957496
If the invite is from gmail, iOS works exactly the same but Android shows up like this, with weblinks:-
View attachment 2957497
Is this the same for everyone? If you see something different can you please post it and help me work out why I see something different? Surely Google's own OS should be able to handle calendar invites at least as well as it's app on iOS?!
Thanks!
Slightly shocked that not one person has replied with simply whether they see the same as me or not. Guess I'll have to go elsewhere

In the past, I had "Invitation Plugin" installed to be able to add the invitations to my calendar. But now, since there is no attachment or .ics or anything, even that doesn't work. I get the same "blank" emails as you. This is very frustrating as my wife and I use invitations for everything. She sends them, and I have to get to a PC to open my Gmail to see (and accept) the invitations. Very frustrating when this used to work.
I hope somebody has some answer/workaround for this.
I found a workaround. There's an app called Cal by any.do. It's just a calendar app, but, it does have an indicator/filter that shows pending invitations and allows you to accept/deny and notifies the meeting chair. This is mildly better than searching the entire calendar trying to find the pending invite.
So, when the email comes in, pop over to Cal and do the needful. Not perfect, but better than where I was before.
Thanks for replying, nice to know I'm not alone in this issue Yeah me and the wife do exactly the same
Yep, Cal seems to provide a workaround of sorts, thanks for sharing it. Seems utterly nuts that Google should make their own solutions work better on a competitive platform to their own. Very very poor
If anyone else has any solutions or comments would love to hear them
Cheers
same problem here
I'm running the latest gmail update (v 5.0) on KitKat and I get the same problem - google calendar invites present a links only that take me to a webpage. on gmail for my iPad get big easy buttons to use. How is it possible that the experience is better on iOS than Android?
Same problem here. Confirmed that it is because the invitation is from Outlook. Why is there no solution? Seems like the bug is on the Android Gmail client.
Still no solution available in June - as far as I can tell - is this some kind of spat with Microsoft?
It's a real PITA whatever it is...not what I expected running the latest software versions available.

I am facing the similar issue. My problem is bigger - I get at least 30-35 outlook exchange invites on my gmail account and my Gmail App shows just the emails (it doesn't show the date and time) which is sad. All the time, I have to check the calendar app, open each invite / meeting requests and select - Yes / No / Maybe from the Calendar. I so wish that the Android Gmail App comes up with a simple feature (just like you have shown for iOS Gmail App.) so that at least we will know that the email which we have received is an actual Outlook Meeting invite and not a standard email. Can somebody please contact Google Android department and raise this issue? I have tried to report this on the official Google App. Gmail forum but no luck on their response so far.
Again, thanks for bringing this up here on XDA.
