How to Holster - HTC Inspire 4G

So folks, I have an Otterbox Commuter case and the Seido ActiveX holster. I'm actually really loving the way they fit together, but I realized something after I started trying to use the combo -- I have no idea how to use this holster in a way that is convenient and comfortable.
I know, this probably sounds a little lame, but i honestly can't figure it out. If I clip it vertically or horizontally at my waistband, it's a real pain to get to. It's much easier to just reach in my pocket than to try to move my shirt out of the way and mess with the holster arrangement. Plus, my shirt often gets caught on the phone or holster and that gets annoying.
If I put phone side inside my pocket and clip the holster to the pocket, I pretty much have to take the whole contraption out of my pocket to get it out of the holster. I used to use my old phone in a holster like that without taking it out of the holster, but that phone was screen out. This is screen in.
So, if you guys have holsters, how do you use them? I'm baffled that something I figured would make my life easier has actually made it much more frustrating. It's disappointing...

Depends on if you prefer OWB, IWB, shoulder or deep conceal.

Lol...that did make me chuckle. I guess I'm asking a ridiculous question? No one seems to have anything to say on the topic.

I use the Commuter with a MOBO leather holster. I can flip horizontal or vertical but either way works because I get a good snug fit with the Commuter on. To quick draw I just flip up the magnetic cover and grasp both corners to take it out.

Trident Aegis for Droid Charge review

Out of the four cases I have tried for the Charge I think I finally found my favorite. The Trident Aegis has some problems as did all the cases I tried but it is the best. It comes in 5 colors and they look great. I got the blue one and it looks as good in person as it does on the site.
The materials used are very nice and the surface has a great anti-skid finish that provides great in hand grip. The hard plastic outer shell covers all 4 sides of the phone for a tight fit. It is thicker then the Otterbox Commuter at the phones curve at the bottom but I actually like that. It gives the phone a great feel when using it in landscape mode. Even though it is a bit bulky it does fit in pockets easily. The corners of the case are heavily padded for drop protection.
All of the ports are covered to prevent dust, moisture or any other unwanted substance getting into them. I found that the usb port was hard to open at times (I have no finger nails) and that the hdmi cover opens a little to easily. The power button and volume rocker are covered as well and easily accessible. One of the things I really like is the dust filter on the speaker opening. The speaker is loud and clear and will not be getting dust in it. The lip that goes around the screen is not as big as the Otterbox but provides just as good of protection.
The protection this case offers is great. Its not as heavy duty as the Otterbox Defender or the Trident Kracken II but it is good enough for every day use. It comes with a screen protector that I did not use. I would recommend this case without a doubt. While its not perfect its does correct the things that I did not like about the Otterbox Commuter and provides just as good of protection. If I can get access to a camera at some point I will post some pictures to go along with the review.
Thanks for all of the info. both here and via PM.
I want to hold out for the Kraken 2, but my Otterbox is driving me nuts so I might just grab an Aegis.

The Kraken 2 looks pretty beast to be sure but I'm not sure if it's not just too think... Hows the thickness of it compared to the otterbox defender?

What aren't you liking about the Otterbox? I asking because I'm thinking of picking one up for myself.

The top and the bottom edges of the Otterbox are not covered by the hard plastic so it is kind of loose. The buttons are also covered which I don't like and the hard plastic is kind of slippery.

I don't like how the top of the silicon portion isn't supported by the hard case, so it easily separates from the phone if you lift the phone by that area.
I also find that, while it's nice to slip in and out of your pocket, the hard case is too slippery for my tastes. It slides off of sloped surfaces and I've almost dropped the phone a few times now.
Personally, I like having the hard buttons covered, but the silicon that covers the buttons doesn't seem to fit tight against the screen, so debris can work its way underneath.
I never use the HDMI port, so not having it protected by silicon makes no sense to me.
Don't let my dislikes make it seem like it's a bad case, it's not, but I think the Aegis will fit me better. The Aegis should arrive tomorrow, so we shall see.
I'm thinking of making a short video to show the differences between the cases. I'll let you know when it's up.
Moondrius and Romemo,
Have either of you had the Incipio case before your trident case? I'm wondering how they compare. I'm surprised to see the trident case so slim since I always incorporate trident cases to be monsters.
I had the Incipio double cover and the Feather and both were sent back. The double cover was alright until I noticed it covered the hdmi port. It did seem thin and less bulky. The Aegis is the most bulky of the 3 but in a good way I would say. Its slightly thicker at the bottom. I would say I liked the Double Cover more then the Otterbox but I used it for like 5 minutes. The Feather was complete garbage. Its a shame because I really liked the Feather when I had my Atrix.
Thanks. I have the Incipio double cover. I really like it since I never use hdmi, not sure I can handle anything that would be bulkier.

For the Incipio case? It's here:
http://www.myincipio.com/Samsung-Dr...CRYLIC-Hard-Shell-Case-with-Silicone-Core.asp
Does verizon sell the Incipio case for the Charge? If so, how much do they ask for it? I really like the looks of the Incipio case and I am just trying to figure out if a covered HDMI port is worth it. I get 25% off accessories at Verizon so if the price is reasonable I wouldn't mind picking one up to try it out.
So I get my Charge on Monday. I have the cyclops series trident case for the fassy. It felt good. Overall I liked it. So I purchased the aegis. I bought it from the same ebay seller I got the fassy from: cyclopscase.
A good price too 23.33 with free shipping.

My dust cover for the hdmi port ripped off yesterday. I went to go use it and while pulling the tab off of the phone it just ripped right off. That tab is really flimsy and I used very little force around it.

Yikes... Yeah, that's a definite weak spot. I was thinking that, if I go back to my Aegis, I would just remove that cover.
Is it easy to take in and out of the case? I bought the media dock and the car dock, which leaves no room for a case. So I've been using the zagg shield that covers the entire phone. Problem is with the car dock, the sides have been tearing off due to putting the phone in and out of the dock. It's pretty useless, so I want a real case, but I don't want to buy a new car or media dock for it.
Does the Aegis come off and on pretty easily?

IMHO no. The hard outer shell is designed to be a reeeeally tight fit around the soft inside cover. As a current owner I wouldn't want to constantly take it off and put it back on for a car dock. Plus I think it would eventually wear on the buttons and dust covers.

Otterbox Defender vs Trident Kraken II [10/19 update]

For anyone who is up in the air between the top 2 rugged cases, the Kraken II is made much better for the Charge.
The belt clip on the holster for my Defender snapped the other day when it caught on the armrest of my chair so I went ahead and ordered a red Kraken II off of ebay since I had wanted to give one a try anyways. Got it today and everything about it is better. The holster holds the phone much more securely, the silicone is underneath the plastic so no more will it start coming off all the time like the Defender's did, and you can get it in colors . The level of dust protection is also a lot better thanks to mesh screens over the speaker and earpiece.
Hope this helps anyone deciding
Update 10/19!!!!
Forget everything I said above. I now hate Trident. Their plastic feels great and seems nice at first but is insanely cheap! A small piece next to the charger port broke off last night and this morning before I left for work I went to clip it onto my belt and when I went to squeeze the clip a little it snapped. Absolute junk. Thinking of just going to the standard Verizon case/holster combo and keeping it clipped inside my pocket at this point.
For what would you need such a case on this phone? I have dropped mine (naked) on concrete repeatedly with no harm (to the screen/internals).
I actually like the Defender better than the Kraken. I think it just looks better, sleek, and more stylish. The kraken does have color, but it looks cheap in my opinion. My family has the Defender case on all of our Droid Charge(s). No issues with them whatsoever. I just like having all around protection for my phone, although I have never dropped it (yet), I know it'll stay safe when I do.
I recently bought a Otterbox Defender Case. It definitley makes the phone much more bulky but I gues thats price for protection. I honestly am looking for reasons to take it off and put my old case back on but I fear that once I do I will drop my phone and it will shatter into a million pieces....hahaha. I n all honesty, it feels solid and indestructible now, my only complaint is its bulk and how lint kinda sticks to the rubber...I give it a 10/10 for purpose alone and a 7,8/10 in aestethics...

Mine dropped from ceiling level of a Lowe's retail building while up on power equipment once. Try that without one of these cases.
Also I would like to say that the way the belt holster is made on the Kraken saved my butt. I almost snapped it the first day I had it (in the exact same way I did the Defender holster) but the Kraken's holster is made with a detachable clip so instead of breaking it flew into 3 pieces that snapped right back together.

All OtterBox cases do the lint thing & it drives me nuts. The Incipio does the same thing.
I finally settled on the BodyGlove as it gives an awesome grip on the phone & does not attract link AT ALL.

updated first post. Forget everything, Trident is junk
Have you looked at the Otterbox Commuter for the charge?
Not as "industrial-strength" as the Defender, but extremely well made and it does a great job of protecting the phone while still leaving all buttons and slots/openings usab;e and/or easily accessible....
The holster is kinda important to me. Going to try the standard Verizon case/holster combo.
I am using the Verizon holster with a Casemate case. Works very well. Only thing I don't like about the holster is that the clip sticks up kind of high and will dig into your belly in certain positions. Might be a belly issue though LOL
I have Trident Kraken II case and I broke holster clip. Emailed Trident and they replaced clip within a couple days via mail.....good customer service.
Not sure which Otterbox case I have but this damn thing is tough as nails. I'm in the Army and this thing has taken a beating. I've dropped it out of a vehicle going 35 and nothing happened to it. Dropped it from about 10 feet up as well and nothing. I'll post pics as soon as I can so you guys know which one it is. I just know it's 3 pieces (2 plastic then the gummy like cover).

No screen protector but it does have the holster. I need to get some pics uploaded because I have no idea which one it is lol.
I've not had any issues with the Trident case, itself, but I did have an issue with the belt clip breaking clear apart when I tried to take it off. Now I need to see if they offer any sort of warranty ala Otterbox...

Quick review Seidio active case

Just ordered and received the Seidio active case and figured I would do a quick review of it for you guys. Previously I was using the Casemate barely there case so that is all I really have to compare it to.
When I opened the box I was impressed by it. It looked nice, seemed to be well designed and have good construction. I liked the way it was built with the rubber inner case and the hard outer shell to go over it which seems to be a good combination of drop protection without being too hard to slip into a pocket if you choose to do that. I was looking for a case that would provide a bit more protection than the barely there I had on the phone. I don't find that it adds a lot of bulk to the phone either, which I like. It is bigger, but not that much bigger in my opinion.
All of the ports and buttons line up well and I don't have any problem using any of them. The holster is nice and well built too. Which brings me to my one complaint about this case. When holstering the phone the latch on the top has a tendency to catch onto the rubber part of the case on top and pull it up instead of just letting the phone go in. I think this could have easily been solved by having a piece of the plastic hard shell molded over the top of the case where the latch would be going. This makes it awkward to easily holster the phone sometimes. But that is really my only complaint. Debating returning it and getting the surface case just so I don't have to deal with that, but I like the added protection of the active case.
Posting a couple of pictures that I have now, I will add a couple of pictures of the phone in the case for you guys later. I apologize for the pictures that they aren't that great, all I have is my phone and webcam for taking pictures..
Looks like a work case.
Yeah, it's definitely not as heavy duty as an otterbox defender or a ballistic hc though.

Belt "Holster" recommendation:

If anyone is looking for a belt holster style carrying case, this is one that I got a few weeks back:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01H2K0M58/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
So far it's worked very well for me. I keep the Incipio Battery Pack on all the time on my phone and it fits just beautifully in this case. Just about the perfect size to easy in, easy out with the battery pack on it. Not very expensive either. The material is appears to be good quality.
I was even able to fit the phone with the JBL speaker mod on it in the case, though that was a tight fit.
There are two negatives worth noting:
1. It's big! Well, obviously it has to be cause it's a big (ie, tall) phone so it looks a little large on your hip. If having something big and heavyish on your hip is going to bug you, then don't get it.
2. I'm not thrilled with the clip... It's strong enough, but it doesn't hold as tightly as I'd like. This makes it easy to get the case on and off your belt... but a little too easy. A couple of times I've pulled the whole case off when just trying to get my phone out. And at least once when I was sitting in a deep couch for a while my normal movement while seated moved the case enough up the belt that when I stood up the case fell off my belt. (It's possible I just one a case with a belt clip that isn't as tight as it normally should be.)
Thanks for the review! Couple questions...
Is it long enough, that without a mod attached, the phone will fit with a case on it? In particular I was thinking of the bumper.
I work on trucks for a living. Having it slide off my belt would be annoying. Do the clips have enough space, that were I to glue them down, I'd be able to slide a belt through them?
Never mind, I see it has loops.
How well has it held up, since you've purchased it?
Just to let you know...the Incipio Performance Level 4 cases come with a holster as well. And they're not bulky like the OtterBox Defender series.
As a follow up, the AGOZ holster is great! At first I thought the clip was overkill, and contemplated removing it, but in unison with the loops, it firmly holds the holster where I want it. I use it all week long at work, since I work on trucks, and want the most protection possible, without the Otterbox bulk in hand.
I did look at the Incipio holster, but it looked awkward used in the horizontal position. I did purchase their bumper, which I love. On weekends, I use the Seidio Dilex Pro holster for the Galaxy Note 5, recommended on another forum. It's a perfect holster in combination with the bumper, and allows for any mod to be used.
I just want a simple clip holster that works with the back panel that came with the phone. No bumper, no case... Just a belt clip.
No where to be found.
I use this sometimes. Works fine with the style shell or Incipio battery pack. It has a nice sturdy metal clip that allows the case to rotate.

Mine's on my waist in a belt clip (6PU-GLYD) which works with the Spigen case I have.
How does everyone else carry theirs?

I have the same setup. I tried just a pocket for a while but always seems like I'm taking it out of my pocket when I sit.
The holster is nice quick and easy access. Also not too obtrusive.

Thanks.
Do you clip yours on your belt? or front pocket?
Clipped in my waistband/belt, horizontally. As shown here for example:
I have a similar setup, with a few different parts. My V20 is in an Otterbox Defender case, but since its own holster/belt clip could eventually break, I use a leather pouch made by Turtleback instead. I've been using these pouches (they come in many different sizes with both vertical and horizontal layouts) with several of my older phones for years, and they've been rock-solid. They're a bit pricey (I used to get them for around $25–30 but now the prices are higher) but barely seem to show any signs of wear and tear over the years.
I usually clip it on my belt above the right front pocket in a horizontal position with the opening magnetic flap facing left. I'm left-handed, so I pull out the phone the same way I probably would for a sword. One interesting thing about taking it out of the pouch is that about half the time, the V20 can unlock itself if the Quick Cover case option is on and any secure lock for the lock screen is off.
If it gets too bulky when I'm in a tight space, then I just put the whole thing in my front right pocket with the flap hanging out, as shown in the second photo.
Usually in a pocket. On my bike, it goes in a pocket in my rack bag. In the car, it goes on a magnetic vent mount. It's got a case and a screen protector, so I don't handle it with kid gloves.
