is it just me or has this happened to anyone else.. but i just purchased an HTC Inspire today and the location updates without a problem.. but every place that im at or been through the weather data is always not available.
Had the same issue earlier on my inspire and my daughter's desire z. Working fine for me now so I assumed it was just a temporary problem.
I only really care about the weather where my home is, so so I could leave wireless networks off but still have my home weather, and HTC includes like 2 us cities, I edited the weather's settings.db to include my city in its choices for default cities. Worked good.
If anyone's interested ill have to check exactly what sqlite values I edite, can't remember off the top of my head.
I'm interested. You really know you're stuff dude.

Sync weather in the Account&sync section. That fixed my weather problem

Thanks di11igaf, can't wait to mess around with it, when I get off work too
Sorry guys, not using sense right now and didn't have time last night to flash my sense Rom back. I'll do It tonight and write how to add a location. If someone wants to look into it before me though its in /data/data/ one of the HTCweather database files(there's a few), and inside that its one of the .db files. You'll need an sqlite editor to change the values either on the phone(you can buy one from within root explorer), or edit it on your pc and put it back. You'll see what has to be changed cause it will have all the locations listed inside the db file. I'll know exactly what to edit later with a step by step.
Actually I think you've given us enough to empower ourselves I'm going to tackle this tonight. Thanks again.

On my stock (i.e. not rooted) AT&T Inspire, the weather widget sucked. You can not add weather locations that you may be interested in. (Score one for iPhone).
My great solution: Get Weather Bug app (or something similar). You can add any location you wish and get more info.
Now you need a way to link the stock HTC clock widget to the Weather Bug app. Well you can NOT do it.
SO, get Fancy Widgets! They have 100 of cool widgets, including the nice looking HTC clock/weather widget (small and large), and it includes custom options to set which app to start / link when tapped.
So when you tap the weather widget part, Weather Bug starts. Tap clock, goes to the stock clock / alarm app.
Problem solved, home screen works better than iPhone!

I'm just trying to find a way to disable the weather wallpaper so my live wallpaper stays on after I unlock if I don't move the screen.
I know 1.5 didn't have it, so there must be some way to disable both it and the call to it, so it's like it was never there to begin with.
I searched, but came up with nothing I could use. I'm not sure entirely how it works, but there should be a line you can comment out somewhere or something.

If u mean the Weather Animation after unlocking the screen there is a option at the Weather Application.
I can't seem to find the option to shut it off in there anywhere. All I have is Update Automatically, Update Frequency, and Temperature Scale, and nothing else. ; ;
Am I looking in the wrong place for it or something?
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
remove the widget then when you go to readd it, it will prompt you for animation after you select a city.

Hehe... Mine doesn't seem to want to cooperate. When I remove it and add it again, it doesn't ask for anything, it just GPSs my current location.
I tried the other two smaller widgets too, the ones that do ask for your location, but nothing ever came up about being able to disable the weather wallpaper.
This is pretty frustrating. lol It should be such an easy task. I mean really, am I missing something? All I wanna do is shut it off, even if I need to do a little programming to do it.
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
i remember there was a select location option and then the next screen asking for weather animations
i'm running AOSP now so i can't replicate and help you buddy
but keep looking
maybe download a different clock?
What is AOSP? I know I should probably know. lol

For what I know (which isn't that much), for that you need to have root on your phone and use adb commands or an app like Titanium Backup or other, but unless your phone is s-off, you can only have temp root at the moment, on a reboot you will loose root privileges and everything would be installed back again...
So, if you don't have s-off, you'll have to wait...
go to the dev forum & look for the fr3vo temp-root post & the post about how to disable apps.
Thanks for your replies...
I know that i need a root... Hence me saying at the start of my OP after I've rooted using Eugenes perma temp root...
I know how to delete apps and I know I need a root to do so, I just want to make sure the apps I've listed are ok to delete?

You didn't pay attention to the second part of xnifex's post, which mentioned to go to the dev section and look at the post about how to disable apps.
There is a running list in the second post of which apps people have found safe to disable.

Ok. I shall do this.

All u have to do is temp root and download root explorer. Go to system/apps and delete whatever apks u don't want. Use task killer clear sense launcher and apps will be gone.

I was wondering if there is an app that allows you to create system settings profiles for 1 click set...
Something like:
Profile:
Office
WiFi-on
Bluetooth-off
GPS-off
Driving
WiFi-off
Bluetooth-on
GPS-on
Home
WiFi-on
Bluetooth-off
GPS-off
Etc...

This is a shot in the dark here because I've never used it, and have deleted it from my ROM, but there is a widget that comes with the stock ROM called the Profile widget.... Maybe that is what it is for?
If that's not it, there must be something in the market or perhaps elsewhere in the ROM?
I've tried the profiles widget, it just changes your sound profile...
I've checked the market, however I might not be using the right search criteria...

Ah ok, I found an app in the market called Quick Profiles... Maybe that will work for ya? Other than that, I'm not sure.
I think I remember that the Epic 4G had a similar feature, where you could turn on different modes that would auto-switch you to different homescreens that you could customize for the situation (work, home, school etc.) It's probably been retained in the latest versions of Touchwiz, as it seemed pretty cool.
I would imagine there's a widget on the market somewhere with what youre looking for. if not, you could just use extended controls so as to quickly change all your settings, since you can customized its widget to control virtually anything.

Isn't it like HTC scene?

So i just found that apparently, 2.3 introduced a security feature that blocks apps and widget from turning on the GPS. i am not pleased witht his, as it makes extended controls and anti theft apps (Lookout, Seekdroid etc.) far less useful. bad move, Google. Why u remove features?
I found that the app o installed does not allow to toggle GPS, must be due to that 'feature'

3.1 BETA OUT NOW
This is my first app, so lots of *constructive* feedback would be nice.
It's nothing special (I did it on MIT AppInventor like the noob who knows no java that I am)
Ever leave somewhere and forget how to get back?
Problem = Solved.
Simply press the button and it will remember your "Island Location" -- for you Lost fans --which you can name.
The rest is pretty self explanatory.

// What's new in 2.1

P.S. If you want an older version just pm me I'll get it for you
Has anyone used this app? Really looking for some feedback...
I downloaded your app, and you have a good idea and it is functional, although obviously limited in design and some functionality due to the lack of raw java. I also think it would be nice to have some settings of some sort, if it's possible to add those with the program you used to create it

I'm working on adding settings now. I plan to make the background and fonts changeable because I know I can easily do that. If you have any other settings ideas I can give them a shot.
I'm also looking to make the app able to remember multiple locations.
Thanks for the feedback.
Great idea! You should add a list of remembered places so one can chose where to go back to.

Working on adding multiple locations now. Any preference on how that works? Like pick three to save? Remember last three saved?
Does your app do something that using Google Maps w/ starred locations doesn't do?
If I go somewhere and think I might be so unfamiliar with the area that I might not be able to locate my car, I star the location I've parked at then use that when I leave wherever I went to easily find my spot.
It kind of sounds like your app does this too, but as its only feature?

Probably not. The only difference I imagine is that the app does it just by pushing buttons. It actually uses Google maps for directions. Sorry if that's disappointing for you haha
3.1 is up. This mostly a bump post haha. Would love to get some feedback
