I was wondering if there is an app that allows you to create system settings profiles for 1 click set...
Something like:
Profile:
Office
WiFi-on
Bluetooth-off
GPS-off
Driving
WiFi-off
Bluetooth-on
GPS-on
Home
WiFi-on
Bluetooth-off
GPS-off
Etc...

This is a shot in the dark here because I've never used it, and have deleted it from my ROM, but there is a widget that comes with the stock ROM called the Profile widget.... Maybe that is what it is for?
If that's not it, there must be something in the market or perhaps elsewhere in the ROM?
I've tried the profiles widget, it just changes your sound profile...
I've checked the market, however I might not be using the right search criteria...

Ah ok, I found an app in the market called Quick Profiles... Maybe that will work for ya? Other than that, I'm not sure.
I think I remember that the Epic 4G had a similar feature, where you could turn on different modes that would auto-switch you to different homescreens that you could customize for the situation (work, home, school etc.) It's probably been retained in the latest versions of Touchwiz, as it seemed pretty cool.
I would imagine there's a widget on the market somewhere with what youre looking for. if not, you could just use extended controls so as to quickly change all your settings, since you can customized its widget to control virtually anything.

Isn't it like HTC scene?

So i just found that apparently, 2.3 introduced a security feature that blocks apps and widget from turning on the GPS. i am not pleased witht his, as it makes extended controls and anti theft apps (Lookout, Seekdroid etc.) far less useful. bad move, Google. Why u remove features?
I found that the app o installed does not allow to toggle GPS, must be due to that 'feature'

I just got the ADW.Launcher and it has been the best home replacement app so far.
You have the nexus one like app drawer and shortcut dock, and you can adjust the speed the pages flick, page bounce back (like the iphone) and set the number of pages you want to have.
Fully supports all widgets, and really fast (no lag at all like open home or a home)
the best thing is i've used my x10 for 5 hours straight and its only gone down to 95% battery left.
give it a try!
Am using it. Love the Sense Preview, although it could be less choppy (but they fixed most of that in the latest version). Also like the dock bar, and applications drawer.
it great, however, before on one of main screen I had option to turn wifi, bluetooth, phone and gps on the fly by tapping on it. Now after I installed ADW, it is gone, does anybody know how to get it back or something alternative?

Yeah, it should be a widget. I believe it is called quick settings.
Easily the best homescreen replacements. Tried a few Home++ for example and this one is a keeper... havent tried GDE yet....maybe in a while but for now ill stick with this
where can i get this?

I would like an app that will let me track my work schedule and clock on and out to keep track of my hours. There are a couple of apps in the market but they are cumbersome and way to complicated for the simple task I am looking for haha.
Can anyone reccommend something?

I think he wants like a clock in sheet or sort of not a calendar anyways why don't you try my work clock from the market, I would use but im salary so it don't matter how many hours I work lol (not a good thing sometimes :-(

Yeah I think that I will just continue using my work clock to punch in and out. I will just keep my schedule written down someplace I suppose.

For your schedule use the calendar app it sync with your google account and you can see it online that'd what I used

I use Time Recording. The interface is a little confusing at first, but it works well once you get used to it.
Does it fall into your "cumbersome and way to [sic] complicated" category? If so, what kind of basic features are you looking for? Just something with a "clock in" and "clock out" button that will track time?

Time recording looks like a nice application. Really, the only app that is cumbersome is my work schedule. It'll let you put in preset times but not let you enter your schedule manually. I could use the built in calendar to keep track of my schedule but that is too many steps to take every time I need to add a new time on a new day.

Yeah I tried that but as far as I can tell you can only schedule preset times that you put in beforehand. It works, but the way my work schedule is I am always having to go in and add more presets. I think calendar will work nicely.

You can select to enter a time manually as well. Hit "enter schedule" then menu, "manual time entry"
I have done some searching around here. Either I'm a total no0b (there is a chance for that) or it isn't posted here.
I just flashed to Serendipity 5.0 and some other roms before that. None of the roms I've flashed had this option. It was only in the stock rom.
Is there a way to keep the screen on while charging?
Thank you.
I believe that was only a 2.1 eclair option.
I've never seen it in any of the 2.2, 2.2.1 ROMs that everything is based on right now
Captisent via XDA App
Kind of what I thought.
I was wondering if there was an app or something that I didn't know about that would be able to do that. Kind of like what was done to keep the lights on for the menu keys.
I haven't seen that option in any of the 2.2 or 2.2.1 based ROMs that I have tried, but the program (and associated widget) that I used with stock for this function still works and keeps the screen on - not just while charging, but at least you can trigger it on and off easily.

I use the app "Screen ON Widget" as it's called in the market. I don't actually use the widget, I just keep the program shortcut handy and it toggles on/off with a notification bar icon... no reason to be notified by a widget too.

I'm looking for a highly configurable, minimalistic missed call/text/email notification center to use in conjunction with WidgetLocker. I've run the gamut by now. Missed It! is pretty good, but still not quite as tweakable as I'd like. Ideally, it'd be terrific if the notifications hid when there were no missed calls/texts, and appeared only when needed.
Anyone have a good alternative?
Thanks.

Hi! Just like you, I got Missed It! so that I could properly combine it with WidgetLocker... and if I understand correctly what you want, Missed It! does have it: in Settings -> Output format, uncheck "Always show output".
Interesting. I'll give that a shot. "Always show output" isn't exactly the most self-explanatory menu item...

Certain things don't work correctly with a non-standard lockscreen. I use Phonelocator Pro and it acts as a manager using the internal Android lockscreen but NOLed still does not work correctly with it. The developer confirmed this in his thread.

In order to prevent the app from being disabled, it acts as a "device administrator." It uses the default Android Lockscreen still but the dev. said it was no-go no noLED. Perhaps he didn't understand just how Phonelocator modifies default behavior, but regardless that was his answer.

3.1 BETA OUT NOW
This is my first app, so lots of *constructive* feedback would be nice.
It's nothing special (I did it on MIT AppInventor like the noob who knows no java that I am)
Ever leave somewhere and forget how to get back?
Problem = Solved.
Simply press the button and it will remember your "Island Location" -- for you Lost fans --which you can name.
The rest is pretty self explanatory.
Screenshots in attachments
CHANGELOG
// What's new in 3.1
-- Added 2 customizeable saved locations
-- Fixed buttons getting cut off
// What's new in 2.1
-- Settings bugs hopefully fixed -- I'm currently testing it
*Changng to Lost background will apply after app is closed and reopened
// What's new in 2.0
-- Settings -- Change the look of the main screen
MORE SETTINGS TO COME -- just a trial run right now
// Planned changes for next version
-- Whatever I can think of. Any suggestions?
P.S. If you want an older version just pm me I'll get it for you
Has anyone used this app? Really looking for some feedback...
I downloaded your app, and you have a good idea and it is functional, although obviously limited in design and some functionality due to the lack of raw java. I also think it would be nice to have some settings of some sort, if it's possible to add those with the program you used to create it

I'm working on adding settings now. I plan to make the background and fonts changeable because I know I can easily do that. If you have any other settings ideas I can give them a shot.
I'm also looking to make the app able to remember multiple locations.

Great idea! You should add a list of remembered places so one can chose where to go back to.

Does your app do something that using Google Maps w/ starred locations doesn't do?
If I go somewhere and think I might be so unfamiliar with the area that I might not be able to locate my car, I star the location I've parked at then use that when I leave wherever I went to easily find my spot.
It kind of sounds like your app does this too, but as its only feature?

Probably not. The only difference I imagine is that the app does it just by pushing buttons. It actually uses Google maps for directions. Sorry if that's disappointing for you haha
