Hi all,
I got an rca cable off of ebay to use the tv out function on my galaxy s, but I can't get it to work. I enable tv out in the display settings, set it to pal, but nothing shows up on the tv.
Anyone else had this problem?
should probably mention,
running JVK, 2.3.3, with super curio kernel. lagfix + ext4 enabled.
purchased form ebay.
Are you sure the cable is compatible? What does it say on the ebay site? Does it mention Nokia anywhere?
I've read some cables need to put the yellow pin into the red hole, did you try it?

it was titled 'genuine tv out RCA cable for samsung galaxy i9000'
Try every pin to the yellow hole and make sure your tv is set to right channel.

so there seems to be a few issues that can cause a video out cable to not work. the first is the pin assignment on some cables are different (eg, ipod)
that seems to be covered here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741542&highlight=RCA
but after ripping apart a cable and re-soldering it in every possible way it seems there is another issue. it seems some cables have some sort of box or something in the middle of them like this one.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000S0GXIA/
on the other hand some don't, like this.
http://www.amazon.com/6FT-Camcorder...4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1283148966&sr=8-4
a common trend I'm noticing in the forum is that all the links to working ones seem to have this box, also in a search on ebay for galaxy s video cable almost all the results had a box.
so 2 questions!
1) if you had a cable that did or didn't work please post whether or not it had a box. and if it didn't or did work.
3) wtf does that box do?
unfortunately the 2 cables i have both don't have the box, but they both had the correct pin assignment. and id like to get the one i cut up to work. so plz helpppzzzzz!!!!!
Why on earth couldn't you just get the Nokia one in the first place?
i had 2 already sitting around my house, but i just ordered a nokia one....
i hope it works
sorry, which box are you referring to?
I just received a 3.5mm to RCA cable without a box and it doesn't work.

is there anything on the cable other than straight wire? like a hard plastic cylinder or something?
I try 3 cables (nokia, sony and galaxy s) and nothing, maybe a differente 3.5mm jack??? I also try my SGS head phone and work very strange, but the original one works well. I try the same in other device, with the same result.

I made a tv-out cable myself from a spare headset ;-) but I found out that the video polarity is reversed.
So audio L+R are PLUS, but the video cable is MIN.
This would probably cause the other model cables not to work.
If you'd reverse the wires on the yellow video cable it might work fine (no guarantee, cut cables on your own risk)
I'll try and find my wiring scheme for you, must have it somewhere.

Hi.
I found at home a jack to RCA cable and it works pretty well.
Only one is interestning, video line is RED, but normally in cables like this YELLOW is for video and RED/WHITE is for audio.
Reverse the wire, how?
Thanks

nope didn't work...
the yellow gives stereo audio and the red and white cable do nothing... i have inverted the cables on the red one and tried that but it didn't work. going to invert the white cable today. i will update soon
Before I cut my cable, did it work?
Breakthrough for video output
here is what i found out about video out for i9001 s+ , all you have to do is invert the video wire shelid and which i am talking about nokia cable of n79, i just cut the cable and reverse the wires, which yellow pin sheild to be video and video to be shield, thats it!!!!!! so simple,
Samsung i9001 s+ Pin
Number Pin
Name Description (may be empty)
1 Tip Audio Left
2 Ring1 Audio Right
3 Ring1 Shield (ground)
4 Sleeve Video
Anyone really like my post, dont forget to press the thanks button
Thanks!!!
I destroy 3 cables, but finelly works.
Thanks
I succesfully made this cable according to this instruction:
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/713/s8530wave2.jpg/
Its instruction to wave 2 but it also works with galaxy s plus because of the same tv output. And I modified in the same way originall samsung cable (AATCX10CBE), not nokia cable as on this picture
So there is no need to completly cut all free wires, just only the yellow video cable. In audio cables (white and red) you only need to cut silver wires
And if somebody is interested I asked samsung about cable to this phone and they gave me the model of compatible cable ECC1TX1BBECSTD. The only problem is that its impossible to buy this cable anywhere ...
I buy this one:cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180725667671
Works!!!
Thanks
Hi,
so the Samsung ECC1TX1BBEGSTA cable works without modifying it. Is it correct? Even if Samsung does not declare that it is compatible with DS Plus.
So because I have tried the Samsung AATCX10CBECSTD cable and it does not work, probably the ECC1TX1BBEGSTA cable and the AATCX10CBECSTD cable are different?

I think someone merged two threads?
hi
by doing the mods stated a few posts ago you will have the following pin configuration:
1 - video, 2 - ground, 3 right, 4 - left, by doing so you will have the classic av cable
that you can buy from any store suitable for you regular video camera, so all you have to do is plug the yellow rca connector into the red rca in your tv and the red rca in the yellow rca on your tv.
It works 100%, i've tried it. By doing that you will have ground also on your audio channels and you don't have to cut/modify the cable.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=963998&page=10
at common cable pinouts the "c" version is the right one for galaxy S.
best regards
Same same but different

so i'm looking at the picture you attached but i cant realy understant wich wire goes where...can you exlain please?
Bare with me here... though this may turn into a convoluted solution.
I already own a galaxy s2, along with the HDMI adaptor for it (I believe this is a microUSB -> HDMI adaptor?)
Unfortunatly, the Note does not have microUSB ports, or even a normal USB port. So, I was going to buy this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/eKit-Connec...1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1353974512&sr=1-2
Unfortunately, of course, this also does not have microUSB. But it does have miniUSB and normal USB.
So if I get an adaptor such as - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002O1S8...de=asn&creative=22218&creativeASIN=B002O1S8IE
...Will this mean I can use my current S2 HDMI adaptor, on my Note10.1?
While this may seem overly complex, my reasoning is (I think) sound. I will be getting the USB adaptor block anyway, because it is compact and universally useful. And I already own the hdmi adaptor (a Note-specific one is £25 minimum...far as I can see).
So the only extra expense is the £2 for a micro-mini USB adaptor. Saving me £23.
...assuming this will even work.
Any notions?
I do not know for sure but I thought I read somewhere the first adapter will not allow video pass through. Sorry I do not know where I read that at.
I use the hdmi adapter made for the original tab 10.1 and have had no issues. I think its 30$ on Samsung website but i'm sure you could find it cheaper on Amazon or Ebay. Or even an off brand for that matter. Sorry Its not much but I hope that helps.

That was my plan. The galaxy S2hdmi cable is a micro-USB to hdmi converter.
Apparently the 4in1 USB adapter doesn't let any video signal through though. Uyoud have to buy a 30pin to hdmi adapter instead.
Just tried my mhl adapter from my one x no joy shame really maybe someone will find away around it
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1
OEM Software (Rooted)
GT-P5113
4.1.1
HDTV Adapter
EPL-3PHPBEGCAN
So I am trying to connect the tap to my HD TV. I purchase the above adapter and connect the power to the adapter via the OEM power plug/cord, the adapter to the tablet via the 30 pin connecter on the adapter, and the TV to the adapter via HDMI cable. When I plug the adapter into the tablet, it makes a chime noise signifying that something has been plugged in. When I go to the HDMI input source on the TV, nothing displays. I know I am doing it right as I have Googled this to death. I have contacted Samsung via phone, and email support. All they do is ask me if I bought my tablet locally and then refer me to call Samsung for parts. I don't want or need parts. I clearly have everything I need. So I click a link on the Samsung site that says "Email the CEO". I amusingly clicked and sent an email about my frustrations trying to get support. So someone from Samsung calls me back (the same people you get when you call support. After being put on hold for 20 minutes while they find something to tell me, she comes back and asks me if my TV is MHL compatible. In my head I'm like wtf?!?! So I ask her what that has to do with this and she tells me my TV needs to have this in order to display whats on the tablet. So I ask her if the website, box or instructions should say this as I have never heard of MHL until she mentioned it. I look up MHL and it looks like its related to phones and the HDTV adapter the phones use with micro HDMI. This adapter uses regular HDMI.
Anyways, I've had enough of the Samsung runaround...
Has anyone gotten this to work? I'm at a loss of what to try. I've tried on two TV's with the same result. I shouldn't need to upgrade should I? Do I need to unroot, upgrade, then root? Anyone have any suggestions?
Anyone? Thoughts or suggestions?
I noticed the S5 does not use standard HDMI cable...Is any available that will work with the phone?
This cable worked well for me - http://http://amzn.com/B00GE51T9Q
For some reason it received a bunch of negative ratings but I am satisfied with it. Its also super cheap but I'll warn you ahead of time, it takes weeks to receive since its coming from China.
Link doesnt work...?
Sorry about that. Try this
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GE51T9Q/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
or just search Amazon for "niceeshop White 1080P Micro USB MHL To HDMI HDTV Adapter AV TV Video Cable For Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300/ S4 i9500/HTC"
Do you need any sort of app to get the s5 to mirror to a tv? I bought this cable but I cant get it to work...http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DUCB65I/ref=ox_ya_os_product_refresh_T1#customerReviews
Nvm got it working! Is there any way to change the resolution?
Resolution is automatically handled, no custom options. Your best control will be to choose the TV's display options and see which scales better.
Hdmi
I just bought a chromecast to get a workaround the hdmi cheap as chips these days
I didn't know that s5 needs a special hdmi cable.. I bought one that doesnt work.. Is there anyone i can do? What is the difference from the standard? Perhaps solder a cable or something?
Thanks,

You got a regular HDMI to HDMI? You need to purchase a micro USB to HDMI MHL adaptor. You will plug the adaptor into the phone and HDMI cable into the adaptor and television.

No. I got a microusb to hdmi adaptor but doesn't work.. When i connect s5 with tv, nothing happens.
I read above that s5 needs a special cable and not the regular (which i 99.9% have..)
So is there any way to make it work?
What special and different the cable that Samsung do?
Thanks,

Does it say it an MHL adaptor? I am looking at other forums and seeing people say that they are unable to get HDMI output to work with 4.4.4, what ROM are you using?

Yes it write mhl. Rom is 4.4 2 alliance rom.
Here is the cable:
http://www.e-shop.gr/startech-passive-micro-usb-to-hdmi-mhl-cable-3m-black-p-PER.813877
This is a photo of the cable:
Because it is a passive MHL cable, your display must be MHL enabled. The S5 is, so you need to look for your television model on this website
http://www.mhlconsortium.org/productlist/
If it isn't on the list, you need a different cable (or different TV which is much more expensive. )
