I try 3 cables (nokia, sony and galaxy s) and nothing, maybe a differente 3.5mm jack??? I also try my SGS head phone and work very strange, but the original one works well. I try the same in other device, with the same result.

I made a tv-out cable myself from a spare headset ;-) but I found out that the video polarity is reversed.
So audio L+R are PLUS, but the video cable is MIN.
This would probably cause the other model cables not to work.
If you'd reverse the wires on the yellow video cable it might work fine (no guarantee, cut cables on your own risk)
I'll try and find my wiring scheme for you, must have it somewhere.

Hi.
I found at home a jack to RCA cable and it works pretty well.
Only one is interestning, video line is RED, but normally in cables like this YELLOW is for video and RED/WHITE is for audio.
Reverse the wire, how?
Thanks

nope didn't work...
the yellow gives stereo audio and the red and white cable do nothing... i have inverted the cables on the red one and tried that but it didn't work. going to invert the white cable today. i will update soon
Before I cut my cable, did it work?
Breakthrough for video output
here is what i found out about video out for i9001 s+ , all you have to do is invert the video wire shelid and which i am talking about nokia cable of n79, i just cut the cable and reverse the wires, which yellow pin sheild to be video and video to be shield, thats it!!!!!! so simple,
Samsung i9001 s+ Pin
Number Pin
Name Description (may be empty)
1 Tip Audio Left
2 Ring1 Audio Right
3 Ring1 Shield (ground)
4 Sleeve Video
Anyone really like my post, dont forget to press the thanks button
Thanks!!!
I destroy 3 cables, but finelly works.
Thanks
I succesfully made this cable according to this instruction:
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/713/s8530wave2.jpg/
Its instruction to wave 2 but it also works with galaxy s plus because of the same tv output. And I modified in the same way originall samsung cable (AATCX10CBE), not nokia cable as on this picture
So there is no need to completly cut all free wires, just only the yellow video cable. In audio cables (white and red) you only need to cut silver wires
And if somebody is interested I asked samsung about cable to this phone and they gave me the model of compatible cable ECC1TX1BBECSTD. The only problem is that its impossible to buy this cable anywhere ...
I buy this one:cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180725667671
Works!!!
Thanks
Hi,
so the Samsung ECC1TX1BBEGSTA cable works without modifying it. Is it correct? Even if Samsung does not declare that it is compatible with DS Plus.
So because I have tried the Samsung AATCX10CBECSTD cable and it does not work, probably the ECC1TX1BBEGSTA cable and the AATCX10CBECSTD cable are different?

hi
by doing the mods stated a few posts ago you will have the following pin configuration:
1 - video, 2 - ground, 3 right, 4 - left, by doing so you will have the classic av cable
that you can buy from any store suitable for you regular video camera, so all you have to do is plug the yellow rca connector into the red rca in your tv and the red rca in the yellow rca on your tv.
It works 100%, i've tried it. By doing that you will have ground also on your audio channels and you don't have to cut/modify the cable.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=963998&page=10
at common cable pinouts the "c" version is the right one for galaxy S.
best regards
Same same but different

so there seems to be a few issues that can cause a video out cable to not work. the first is the pin assignment on some cables are different (eg, ipod)
that seems to be covered here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741542&highlight=RCA
but after ripping apart a cable and re-soldering it in every possible way it seems there is another issue. it seems some cables have some sort of box or something in the middle of them like this one.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000S0GXIA/
on the other hand some don't, like this.
http://www.amazon.com/6FT-Camcorder...4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1283148966&sr=8-4
a common trend I'm noticing in the forum is that all the links to working ones seem to have this box, also in a search on ebay for galaxy s video cable almost all the results had a box.
so 2 questions!
1) if you had a cable that did or didn't work please post whether or not it had a box. and if it didn't or did work.
3) wtf does that box do?
unfortunately the 2 cables i have both don't have the box, but they both had the correct pin assignment. and id like to get the one i cut up to work. so plz helpppzzzzz!!!!!
Why on earth couldn't you just get the Nokia one in the first place?
i had 2 already sitting around my house, but i just ordered a nokia one....
i hope it works
sorry, which box are you referring to?
I just received a 3.5mm to RCA cable without a box and it doesn't work.

is there anything on the cable other than straight wire? like a hard plastic cylinder or something?
ok, i bought this cable and it didn't work, the audio is working but the video doesn't it's messed up, and when i open some application, it will completely stop on working. here's the pictures of it.:
This what happens on the TV
This is the cable
Back part of the cable's box
so how do i do with this problem? or it's not a working version for my SGS i9000?
i am having the same problem, tv out not working i am on slim ics 3.2 with stock kernel.. i checked my cable is fine (i checked it on other vibrant and tv out was working) but not in my i9000 any solution?
Idk. I'm on slim 3.1 and semaphore 1.0.0sbm. Check the first picture link if the problem is just like yours.

The device didn't act weird, only the messed up screen on tv. Our tv is 32" flat screen philips. Xbox and other gadgets works fine.. I'll try it on other tv later.

Is the sound weird too? Try swithing PAL and NTSC modes. Try swithing one of the audio cables (red, white) with the video (yellow) cable.
Are you sure TV out works on slim ICS? If you wanted to be sure you could try flashing a stock rom, (not sure if any ICS rom supports it)
got exactly the same problem with exactly the same cable and 100% the same outcome. im on slim 3.3 with semaphore 1.0s
had the same problem way back with 2.3.x with darkyrom.. didnt care then but i do care now.. so how to solve this ^^
I tried it with other tv. With non flat screen, also philips brand. Doesn't also work the sound is just working but not the video, sound is not that good compare to phone itself and or speaker. I will try to change rom, I'll go back to stock, but i care about my temple run data. Because when i backed it up, and then came ics.. i restore app+data but the game was restarted. :/
I tried switching the red yellow and white cable. Doesn't work either. On slim ics, the tv out was option to enable/disable was working correctly but not on the tv itself. It could detect when the cable is plugged in. That was on galaxy s settings app on ics.

When I tried using a cable made for camcorders with my phone I got a similar
result.
My best guess is that the camcorder cables have a slightly different connector than the ones used with smart-phones, probably because the phone's video and audio jack is the same so it has to work a little differently.
I did manage to get it working though, by pulling the connector slowly out of the phone's jack and wiggling it a bit I got a clear picture, but doing so you lose one of the audio channels.
Good luck!
i made it work. you can either order the original samsung cable (not a camcorder one but the phone one) or i heard the Nokia CA-75U works too. the nokia one is about 2€ here where the samsung is 10€..
but fml, it works.
Has the cable ever worked to your knowledge? Have you ever used a different one?
I got one of these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/370496876842?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
and it works on CM9, AOKP, CM7 (basically all the ROMs I have flashed)
I got the same results as the OP when I first tried to do TV out but that was with a cable I already owned that came with a camcorder...
Bottom line is it will only work with a cable that is wired for the SGS (like the one I've linked to)
TV Out Not working Galaxy I9000M
Did you or anyone find a solution yet? TV out used to work on my unit, but now doesn't -- tried all the suggestions below, different cables, switching around, same TV,
Ed
I have got a Nokia TV out cable (from N900) working with Samsung I9000, worked well in stock 2.3.6, CM9 and now Slim 3.7.
No problem for me

Make sure your ROM supports TV out.

Hello,
I am using 3.5 jack sometimes. But, that is not good show. Maybe, hdmi cable is good show.
Is there a composite av cable for the s3? I'd like to be able to hook my phone up to my car's rear video screen so kids can watch movies through phone.
I'm only aware of the Galaxy S III outputting digital video via an HDMI adapter through the USB port. So, you could get that cable and then purchase an HDMI-to-composite converter, if that is battery powered or otherwise can be charged within the car.
I was looking at this Sima product, but would guess it won't work in this case.

probably not because the s3 has a new MHL connector that uses more hidden pins
I purchased and connected the cables (samsung hdtv adapter and an hdmi to vga adapter) and the projector won't recognize my tablet. Is there anything I need to do on my Note 10.1 to make it acceptable to the projector? Hoped to use it to show a video for a charity fundraiser.

could be that the hdmi/vga cable might not work with the tablet. does the pj have an hdmi input? i'd assume no or you might have tied that already. check the set up on a monitor to verify that the cable will work with the adapter.
Is the HD?MI adaptor being powered? The HMI adaptors for other Samsung devices required they were plugged in to either power or a usb port.
part of the solution

That was the problem. I was too anxious and didn't read the directions about plugging into a power source. Thanks!
Now the problem is that I can't get the audio to work. The stereo cable that came with the hdmi to vga adapter won't work with the projector. I'll run out to Radio Shack tomorrow to see if they have one that works. BUT, is there any way to get the tablet to play the audio or play through my bluetooth Rockdoc speaker instead of going through the projector? Seems as soon as I plug in to the projector I lose the audio. Wish there were a way to work around that. Any suggestions?
please

Be careful. I bought one of these on Amazon a while back...
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C4CVT7A/ref=oh_details_o09_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
...and I realize it might not be the same exact thing, but it looks similar in construction.
About 2 weeks after I started using it, it started shorting out and sparking! I was lucky that I was right beside it when it started happening and got my phone out of it before any damage was done. The problem was with the wiring / circuitry in the base of the unit. I threw it away immediately.
So, hopefully your will work a lot better, just be careful.

Thanks for the info. I usually buy stuff from DX, so I'm quite used to opening and doing a good quality check for every item I buy before using it!
I got the item, it works good and the build quality is good.
BUT, when you connect an external power supply, the power to the usb host port gets disconnected and the usb lines get shorted. So you can use either the USB OR the HDMI. There are 3 relays inside the device; by disabling the top one you can do the 500ms short trick and get the HDMI + USB HOST + CHARGING features, but it takes some effort.

Are you able to use or make a charge only cable (only 5V and ground)? That way the USB data lines should not be affected if the charger shorts the data pins.
Or is the one of the relays shorting the data pins inside the adapter?
Sorry, maybe I didn't explain correctly. The adapter shorts the phone's usb data pins, everything else is untouched. A delay circuit is implemented too, so it looks like they tried to do the 500ms trick but failed miserably so they sold the dock as is.
has anyone got any further with this project? I have an original Samsung smart dock and have now got the hdmi converters but nothing is shown on the lapdock screen. The adaptors and lapdock work fine as I have had it connected to my sky hd box?
Hi, did you try the adapters with a TV? My adapters work well and send a (distorted) image to the lapdock..
Yes I tried them both ways as an output to a tv and also an input to a moniter
looks pretty interesting. huh
