I know that everyone is having issues of some sort with their xoom but I feel as if mine crashing and restarting may be excessive. I will make this brief but I just wanted to know if anyone else's xooms freeze up and show a graphical error similar to a bad graphics card when in the browser. Here I have a picture showing the issue. And if this is a common error, are there any known fixes?
Looks like a problem with the renderer in the browser, or whatever hardware / software is running it. If it doesn't happen elsewhere its probably just a software issue, just flash a stock image, hopefully that will fix it.

I've had the same issue... random crashiness in the browser... images sometimes failing to appear but coming up after a resize. Things were quite a bit better with flash uninstalled. I tried turning off 3d rendering mode in the browser debug setting and had no video issues but the browser was almost unusably slow. I haven't had the issues in other apps so I suspect the browser is quite buggy.

Someone is having problems with lag on youtube version 2.3.4? Slowdowns of every 5 seconds, in several different roms gives the same problem, now if I install an older version of youtube, the problem goes away, back to normal.
Someone is having this problem?
I tested it on two sensations, which is on my 710E and my friend who is 4G.
do the test with you, pay close attention to the video if it will not slow down, then come back normal, is 5 sec slows down again, back to normal there.
dont have any problems with mine. are you using wifi connection or 3g connection?
It happens to mine as well, except that the default YouTube App version is lagging the video playback ONLY when Timeline bar is brought up and keeps lagging unless it disappears.
I am trying to find out wether this is Software ( ROM or w/e ) issue or Hardware.
I did take my phone to warranty service and they were unable to help. Jerks.
I am seriously willing to void warranty and flash preinstalled ROM with CM or just a stock one, ONLY IF I know for sure that his is Software issue.
Note:
I did test for this issue on multiple WiFi's and 3G ... to no avail. I think it started after 2nd factory data reset I did, and nothing changes when I do the reset ...
This problem DOES NOT occure when you play the video via Internet Browser on youtube.com or m.youtube.com
I am concered about Hardware issue since phone feel sluggish overall ( slideshow scrolling when there are not that many elements on UI ... ) and it lags a bit 1080p video (picky,ye ...)
Edit :
My thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1444808
the problem is that if you install the old version of youtube everything back to normal, it is clear that the problem is in software
Well, I guess I am going to live with laggy phone/youtube app for now. Should get ICS update and see if it fixed the issue, if not...
I am going ROOT that mofo and take that *@#$ ROM down with my own bare hands.
actually, after installing the latest version of the ICS ARHD 6.1.1, which also comes with youtube 3.3.0 the problem is over.
Glad you fixed it. ICS Is the best
For now.
Hi guys,
I am not certainly an expert in this field but it seems like because we don't have the driver for the graphical card, the phone does not have video camera function when ICS is installed.
My question is I've realized that from watching YouTube and other streaming videos, the quality of video is really bad. Is that have anything with video support?
I'm pretty sure with the stock the quality of the video was just fine.
Thanks in advance for your comments!

The biggest issue currently is the lack of hardware video acceleration which can easily be solved my using MXplayer and having the video decoded through the software instead.
Camcorder
Camcorder force closes. Driver issues.

I'm not sure if it really matters, but what ROM are you using? I've used several ICS ROMs and never really noticed any issues with video quality on Youtube or other sites. It does seem to be slow to load at times, which may be because of the video driver issue. But quality-wise, it looks fine to me.

I must say the picture looks saturated I mean dither gradation of the colors seems not be read correctly? It definitely has nothing to do with how much time it'd take to load.the bids its the picture.that degrades its quality..
BTW I was using eagleblood latest
These are what I notice to be funky and a bother, the reasons for why they don't work might not be correct but here is what I notice...
No proper video drivers = camera is funky sometimes NO VIDEO unless you use video cam illusion only mediocre quality, some video playback to alot are not proper or functioning fully at the least. Takes longer to load things (I think, ill be surfing xda or Facebook and it loads like DSL used to load in sections, half the screen and other times by quarters, really weird.)
No REAL Hardware Acceleration, it is just a hack with missing libs or Hals or binaries a bunch of little things, this causes a mess of issues if I'm not mistaken which is a possibility (a likely one)
Other things I've noticed are that battery is usually terrible if you use the phone, not super fast at all again proper drivers are the cause of that one. Incoming calls are a pain on most roms. Wifi calling is a no go for a whole lot of people, including me. More things that are just annoyances but also make it not a daily driver for some including me, I've tested them all and always revert... just mainly the annoyances and the lack of wifi calling.

I agree with all that is said above. I had all of these problems and I always had this funky problem in which when ever I was browsing the web it would randomly decide to start flickering the screen black on the page and then not letting me see anything until I started to actively scroll and then the problem would come back. This happened to me over and over until I reverted back to GB. That and the new baseband that is a much needed improvement and is only compatible with GB right now.
I don't know how unique my problem is, but I can't use my phone for development anymore for some reason or some of the advanced Bluetooth features. Pre-ICS, all the G2x drivers installed normally from Windows Update and I could do all the various Bluetooth things, such as Bluetooth file browsing. Post-ICS, my G2x shows up as an unknown device in Bluetooth, so no more Bluetooth file browsing. Also, when I connected my phone for the first time and turned on debugging, Windows couldn't install the drivers to make it work, adb doesn't recognize it, and eclipse won't push to it. Keep in mind, this was on a computer I connected to just fine a few hours ago.
Now, at this point I was a little pissed because I can't use my phone for development, so I try another laptop that my G2x had never connected to. Plug it in, nothing. Install LG drivers, nothing. So I think that ICS somehow messed up my ability to use debugging mode, because when I disable debugging mode I don't have any "Other Devices" in Device Manager.
I've been running arcee's CM9-SK3 since he released it, the hardware acceleration is a nuisance, but my biggest complaint is the maps problem. When I'm using maps or navigating, the map will randomly blank out and maps will require a complete restart. It's quite annoying while navigating, and absolutely infuriating while searching the map for something. I can live with the battery (I have two), I can get over the lack of video (youtube HD works fine), but the maps thing is what drives me the most crazy, especially since I just moved across the country right after installing SK3.
Wondering if anyone else is having a problem when updating/downloading apps from the Play Market. Each Time I do it seems to "freeze" the tablet for several seconds, no touch input works. Then it will slowly come back to life and allow touch inputs or the ability to back out/go home. Is it just me?
I haven't had this issue so far. I had a pretty hefty amount of apps to install when I moved over to this tablet and it did it seamlessly. There was some slow down, but this is to be expected as it accesses the memory and such. Otherwise, I had little to no issues with the market besides some network slowdowns when loading images and such.
This hasn't been an issue with the network. If I download a single app its as if the machine is non-responsive for 5-10 seconds, no touch input works (not even the home button) then after that time it will show downloading and everything gets back to normal. I have not noticed any issues in any other programs and not even any slowdown. But when downloading from the Play Market it does this every time, something has to be glitching between the two.
Does anyone else have this occur...with any device? I've used the android market for several years now and this has never happened before. I love the tablet though, this is just an annoyance that I want to resolve.
I have it with Asus Transformer TF101. I always assumed it was a hardware problem (slow NAND).

I'm pretty sure its not a hardware issue with the Note 10.1
No problem here with US GN 10.1 32GB WIFI. Had two Google Play downloads going then went to play Ski Safari that seem even faster than my Nexus 7 even with the downloads in the background.
Firmware update seems to have fixed the market freezing problem I had when updating/downloading apps. Though there is a very slight "lag" that occurs when doing so...its there only when I first initiate an update/download - glad its not freezing now though!
I have a Asus TF700(tegra3) and an HTC OneXL (qualcomm chipset). both are running cm10.1.
I noticed on both devices is that once the wifi/3G icon turns gray, weird things happen to my devices:
1. stuff like playstore (when I'm downloading stuff) or chrome would suddenly FC. seems to affect apps like titanium backup as well
2. the screen would start flickering.
a restart often fixes this but it happens soon after using the apps I mentioned above.
And this happens on both devices! so it's not device dependent. I've searched the net and it seems gray icons mean my phone/tablet is not connected to Google's servers.
I'm really stumped on how to fix it. on the HTC, this doesn't happen when I'm running a custom Sense-based ROM. I've also tried the stock Asus ROM but it's so close to AOSP unlike sense, I get the same problem. :/
I would really appreciate if you could help me out. I've searched the net but came back empty-handed. I've also looked at Google support but unlike Apple's appstore support, Google is just hopeless! no excuses really considering how much they net profit they get every quarter.
I am not sure but somehow my problem started when Google implemented that "Google settings" that suddenly appeared in the app drawer.
thanks!
Hi there!
I've contacted nvidia regarding this issue (reps seems oblivious) and posted it on their official forums to no avail, so I'll try and give it a shot here.
Basically whenever my tablet connects to WiFi after being disconnected for some time (a few hours to a few days), the tablet freezes when it downloads notifications. The freezes can be minimal (like a 5 second freeze) or be quiet substantial (it can lock up for as long as 10 mins). Once all notifications are downloaded and displayed, the tablet then performs like a charm. I even got my tablet replaced from nvidia and it has the same problem as the one I sent in. Uninstalling Facebook and Facebook Messenger improves performance drastically, but when my tablet checks for notifications it freezes still freezes for a few seconds (with Facebook installed, it could lock up for 10 mins and crash the launcher multiple times). Running on max performance did nothing. I'm really curious if this is a hardware or software issue since some people doesn't seem to have this problem.
I'm running on nvidia's stock firmware (4.2) unrooted.
So here is my question. Have any of you guys experienced this problem? Were you able to solve it? How did you solve it (did a custom rom solve this)?
The main reason why I haven't installed a custom rom yet is because I use the stylus frequently and I use the touch-block feature in nvidia's stock roms and couldn't find ports of it.
Here is a video of the issue. (youtube.com/watch?v=cJrUPV7mY6s) Now there are a lot of widgets on the video, but I assure you removing all of them does nothing. I tried.
Facebook Messenger. That says it all. What other apps have you running in the background?
This definitely sounds like a software issue to me.
Maybe you're being hijacked. Who knows.
I've had this same issues since I got the tablet (K1). System reset, no non-Google apps. Happens regardless of FW; I'm on the latest update. Don't be quick to blame the OP.
Basically, every time the tablet gets a new network connection, the system hangs and becomes unresponsive for 10 seconds to 2 minutes at a time. It's obvious that it's updating all the apps' network requests. However, the thread priority should make the system hang. I've only seen this issue on the K1; never on any other Android device. Either they're using a custom network stack, or they've messed with networking priorities.
I'm on the latest update

Of Facebook Messenger? Or OS? Or all apps?
Either way, it makes no matter no such issues on Lollipop. I am just saying.
