Readers Hub Qualms - Galaxy Tab Themes and Apps

Readers Hub works for me (all three parts) but there's some nonsensical stuff happening which I just don't understand.
The Market has a version of Kobo that is newer than that in Readers Hub (even after Readers Hub updates to what it thinks is the latest)- the one on the Market is newer and has more functionality like Importing ebooks which is crucial for me
The Market has a version of Press Reader that is newer than that in Readers Hub (even after Readers Hub updates to what it thinks is the latest)
Now the result is that I have two versions of Kobo and two versions of Press Reader!! Both fully functioning but separate- one of each in Readers Hub and one of each as a standalone App in the launcher (checked the Versions)
Does anyone know how I can install the newer ones from the Market as replacements for the Readers Hub versions?
Unnecessary bloatware methinks
Update: Resolved (newer Readers Hub wrapper?)
I upgraded to Overcome 1.6 and it now updates Kobo and PressReader to the latest versions (released 18/04) in the Market

I'm guessing the ones you update via Readers Hub/Samsung Apps are specifically designed for the Tab where the Market version are for everyone else.

Well if you are right then the ones for everyone else work better on the Tab than the ones designed for the Tab

Guess it'll be easier than going into Readers Hub. And you can make shortcuts

ha ha
It would be nice if I could get rid of Readers Hub then
Maybe I can try to remove it with Titanium Backup

I'm sure Root Explorer will do that for you just fine.

Readers Hub seems to have gotten its act together
I upgraded to Overcome 1.6 and when I open up Readers Hub, it downloads updates to Kobo and PressReader and they are the latest versions (released 18/04) in the Market

Kobo from the Google Market is indeed more recent than Kobo from ReadersHub / Samsung Market. However, things are different with PressReader, as noted here:

PressReader v1.4+ (formerly PressDisplay) is bundled with Samsung's ReadersHub (the app gets updated via Samsung's own market, but doesn't show-up as an independent app outside of ReadersHub). PressReader v1.3+ is the latest version from the Google Market. As a result, I now have 2 PressReader accounts (which come with free trial newspapers). I'm not a heavy PressReader user, so I can't really tell the difference.

Is this still the case?
I know there was an update about a week ago which brought the Samsung Apps/Readers Hub up to the latest version on the Market.

[APP] BlueKeyboard for Android.

Just found this new app on the market called "BlueKeyboard"
I just did a search for Bluetooth keyboard hoping to find some free software that will allow me to use a mini Bluetooth keyboard on the go without rooting.
Unlike the other apps on the market that require you to buy 10 dollar drivers, this one is free and is compatible with the Apple wireless keyboard.
Pretty sure its new judging by their first blog post from 2 days ago.

On another note,Can anyone confirm if this keyboard here will work, since it says only HID profile keyboards are supported.

Default Market

I'm assuming everyone else's Gtab had some handango crap market installed by defualt. What on earth was Viewsonic's idea there? Is there a reason they didn't install the normal full market or at least have an option to use it?
And yes, I know I can get a fully functioning market. I've got it on TnT Lite 4.1.0
ViewSonic does NOT have the option to use the normal market.
At this time, Google does not officially allow the market on tablets. The way the market is supposed to work is that it allows each individual device access only to those applications that are compatible with it. Google says the current implementations of Android were never designed to run on tablets and therefore won't give the tablets market access. Once Google releases Android 3 (Honeycomb) which is designed specifically for tablets it is expected that tablets will then have official access to the market or a brand new market designed specifically for tablets.
Market
Google has to license a device to use the Market. For whatever legal/business reasons, Google has only licensed one or two currently available tablets like the Galaxy Tablet. The market fix here is unofficial and unapproved.
Is there a way to fool the market into thinking this is a galaxy tab?

Essentially, it works like this. Android is Open Source but Google Apps (Gmail, Maps, Market, etc.) are not. Anyone can use Android on their device for free, but to use Google Apps they must license them from Google. Google is concerned about a phone version of Android being used for tablets, so they refuse to license Google Apps to tablet makers until 3.0 comes out. Galaxy Tab is a special case and I suspect it was done under protest, but perhaps Google was willing to use Samsung's device to test the market's readiness for an official Google tablet.

Stupid on google's part IMO. Open should be open, 100%. I do realize they have to deal with the phone nazis though, so I suppose I'm not that surprised.
Regardless, I'm loving my Gtab so far. I'm hoping to eventually get Debian running on it if the boot process is open enough, which it seems to be.
I suppose, but at the end of the day they have so little control over Android, which is their brand. I sometimes which they had more. Especially when I see how few pure Android devices there are.

[Q] Any way to get the Android Tablet Market outside the US?

From what I've read the Xoom should display Tablet specific apps in the market. It doesn't on my (imported) Xoom. I just get the regular market. No tablet specific apps.
I guess this has something to do with the fact that I'm using the Xoom outside the US. Somehow there's a restriction to using the Xoom elsewhere. For example it also isn't possible to install Google books.
Anyone found a work around for this? Setting the country parameters in the settings or Gmail accounts doesn't work. Maybe the Market Enabler app can do the job?
I bought a wifi only xoom from US and I also don't have the Featured tablet aps in Market, but if I search apps then it finds tablet apps just fine.

aha... but does it contain all tablet apps? For example I noticed that the YouTube player for Honeycomb wasn't installed on my Xoom. I read somewhere that I could download it from the market, but my market only contains the non tablet version (2.x vs 3.x for honeycomb)... So I wondered if I got a non working tablet market.
Youtube app wasn't on my Xoom also at first, but when I connected to internet it magically appeared under apps.
As far as I know, the honeycomb version has never been in android market.
I am traveling in China now and the hotel has a Hong Kong IP address, so unfortunately I can't read most of the things in the market. When I go into the office we have a Singapore IP address, so at least I can read it! I tried market enabler, but I don't think it will work on the wifi only model...

All new Play store(former Market) 3.5.15

What's New
1. You now have the Installed and All tabs you can swipe between. The former one is what we used to have before - it lists all apps installed on your device. The latter lists all apps you've ever installed in case you want to download them again or travel down the memory lane. This is quite handy, and I've seen this list before in the Play Store on the web, so it's great to get it here in the mobile app.
2. The All tab contains a handy dropdown with all your accounts (if you added more than one) and lets you switch between them very easily (as opposed to clicking Menu, etc).
3. The list of apps you have purchased but uninstalled or haven't installed yet has moved to the All tab... which means it's now mixed in with the free apps you no longer have on the device. I'm not sure how I feel about that - on one hand, I like that it's gone from the first list, but ideally there should be a way to filter paid apps from free in the All list. Maybe someday...
4. A few of the stock apps that apparently never got linked to the Play Store before got identified and picked up this time, and updates to such orphans were waiting for me when I fired the Store up. I've complained about this very bug in my last rant, and it looks like someone listened.
5. Just like in the web Play Store:
- reviews now show the device used by the reviewer
- reviews can now be sorted by Most Helpful first or Newest first
- you can now filter reviews to show ones for the latest version of the app as well as made by only the device you are using
Thanks to androidpolice.com
Now download and enjoy!

inkBOOK Obsidian e-Reader*Android 4.2.2

The purpose of this post is to provide rooting and useful app information for newer e-Ink eReaders. If you're not interested in the background, just skip the next two paragraphs.
I am a very firm believer that Adobe's e-ink is really the only way to go if you are going to do any eBook reading other than infrequent or incidental.
For a number of years I have used a Nook (running a very early version of Android - 2.1) . I like to use cloud services like OneDrive, Google Drive or Dropbox to access and store my epub files. Recently these services have been updating their authentication. File Explorers like Fx or ES File Explorer have updated their apps but only the older versions (which now cannot access several cloud services) will install on the ancient Android version on the Nook. Thus I was relegated to USB Cord file transfer or upgrade to an e-Reader runs a newer version of Android.
I chose the one listed in the title above, the inkBOOK Obsidian. But there are a series of eReaders that basically run this same Android 4.2.2; Boyue and Onyx to name two. These instructions are specific to the InkBOOK but at least some of them will work on other eReaders running this Android 4.2.2 variant. For instance the rooting instructions I'm going to refer you to were written for the Boyue.
Rooting: See

For a list of other rebranded eReaders that this method works for)
These eReaders were built assuming you'd use the pre-installed software so lack some pretty essential apps if you are going to use other useful software.
PlayStore: I was unable to get the method in the package in the link above to work but the app Yalp Store works just fine

Full Settings:
S4Galaxy Settings for Froyo ~ JB
This is on PlayStore (and Yalp) but it is not recognized as compatible with these eReaders so you have to cross-load

Switch to and/or close recent apps:

Use Yalp to get it
