[Q] What exact size ? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi...I need to know the exact measurements as I am ordering a sleeve for the device....I have seen the width shown as anything from 170mm to 180mm.
Could anyone who has one please measure it....many thanks.
Also does anyone know what the the depth is when a keyboard is added and the device is closed ?

I`m still waiting for mine to arrive but Asus have the dimensions listed as: 271 x 171 x 12.98 mm
Hope this helps

Yeh, thats what i thought at first but Amazon show 6.89" which converts to 175mm and I've seen it as 180mm on some sites.
Mine is due tomorrow so I will be able to measure it exactly myself but as I am ordering the sleeve now I just wondered if anyone knew the exact size.

Thanks ....I have looked at that one but I think it's taken from Asus website - also it shows length as being 217 instead of 271 which does not give me much confidence...

Heh fair point... exact size for 16gb wifi model (just measured mine) is 271x176x13mm.

Thanks stuntdouble.....just what I needed. Now to order that sleeve....
Along with an hdmi lead, micro sdhc card, micro sdhc adapter and kb.....expensive business this

Yeah, would be nice, but 16 euro??? I rather spend it for external battery instead.
Btw, I am looking for a charger for external battery only.
What I mean is a small charger without phone dock, just like a camera battery charger.
Is anyone know about it?

Then get it from Brando in black or white for US$9 including worldwide shipping.
Slightly cheaper http://www.morpethmobiles.co.uk/proddetail.asp?prod=/11/REa_Nokia_Micro_USB_Charge_Cable
Another option is these extendable ones and not extend it. Such as http://www.blueunplugged.com/p.aspx?p=122392

The morpeth one seems to be for charging only, not syncing. Also, it's actually more expensive then Brando although probably quicker to arrive.
dealextreme. i've got one that looks like a keyring, works well.

ICAN! 10 Tablet new at SEARS today

Another new Tablet in SEARS lineup. Has 3G. Sketchy on hardware. Also, available at Frys, Walmart, KMart. Looks like the market to be flooded with tablets soon.
$499 on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/ICAN-10-Table...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1292201280&sr=1-1
That's a lot of bread for a 2.1 device. Hopefully it's not Telechips based.
According to the pics, this thing has 2 HDMI ports? Really?
http://www.ican.us.com/forums/
Looks like they just opened on 12/10... Nothing much there or on their site
" includes a DC wall plug power adapter at no additional cost!"
That pretty much sums up how this is going to turn out.
Wow, that thing has one big a55 bezel
If the spec is accurate, nice it has TWO micro sd slots and internal space. I shudder to think how screwed up that would be on the Gtablet
If you go to their web site they also make a seven inch version too. Some specs
are their too about both units. One of many that will be release in the coming
weeks.
Sure is expensive. Looks a lot like the Haipad M701-R I bought my daughter but bigger.

Bought this at Frys for $497. Demo unit in store had no internet nor wifi access. Only touch and feel product with no apps to try nor video nor music to run. Box provides no details on type of screen, nor processor. Looks like an ipad but cheaper feel to it. Will not open box due to 15% restocking fee. Oddly supposed to be 10.1" touchscreen but box say 7" touchscreen. Per barcode #80001, this product should be 10.1" screen.
Looks like an Ipad with Android 2.1 operating system but with ports for HDMI, miniSD card, ethernet port. Didn't see a sim card slot though it says 3G support. No info or details for flashing to Android 2.2.
Will hold until I can get more info. 15 day return policy 100% if unopened. Sears and Walmart offering but no availability.
If I can't find any good reviews or additional info, back it goes before 15 days.
May go back to the Viewsonic Gtablet if I can get for $279 after Christmas.
I thought I read the Viewsonic Viewtab 10 was a Atom based tablet able to dual boot Windows and Android (1.6??)... This was back when Sears mis labeled the model that initially ended up being the Gtab we are using...
Saw it at fry's today. Played with a bit, not too impressed. All buttons except for one were one sides. One big hump on back lower right corner, it was because of onboard Ethernet. Seemed slow and laggy.
It said 16gb 1ghz

no 2 usb 2 micro sd
Funny after looking at the link robeet posted for amazon...
The pics do not show the big hump in the back? The unit I had in my hands did have a hump only way they could fit a Ethernet port on the side, my wife thought it looked funny.
I can confirm they were to full size USB on one side, split far apart.
CPU type?

Sorry it only said 1ghz, Fry's is horrible on there info on display units.
From fry's website
# 1Ghz Processor
# 10" 16:9 Touch Screen
# Android OS 2.1
# Wi-Fi
# 16GB Hard Drive
# Webcam 1.3 meg (built-In)
# 2 mini USB Ports
# 1 Micro SD Port
# HDMI Port
# Built In speakers
# Head Phone Port
After looking at all the pics online all the images I could find online were the 3g version. Even fry's has both 3g and wfi version on there site but both pics are the same w/ 3 buttons. The one I hand in my hands only had one button.
Amazon selling for $406 and and J&R $399. The discounting continues. Well Frys, this item is coming back to you soon. No new info forthcoming and will not open the box due to 15% restocking fee.
Will wait for a $279 Viewsonic.
No Bluetooth? Plus the pictures on Amazon show two different bezel layouts on the front. So which is it?
icant ...had to. well would be better if i knew what cpu it has and memory specs are vague. going to get my wife an android tablet first of the year. leaning toward another g tablet when the price drops from the flood of tablets on the market. unless something with a bit more memory hits at a reasonable price. wife seems to be using my tablet a lot here lately ...i cant share

Thanks for your help

Personally, I wouldn't use the one in your link even if the Desire fits. Look at the "Smart Tip" label in the second photo. The bad English grammar says to me it's a cheap Chinese model and wouldn't last two minutes. Maybe splutter to a halt just before it bursts into flames!
Just my opinion though
EDIT: I don't understand why you showed that link and say you can't find a cradle for the Desire. From the same page of that link I put a search in for "Desire Cradle" and found quite a few including this one
Don't buy the N1 dock. My friends got one and it's not the same size so your Desire won't fit anyway.

This why I asked. I understood that there is no original dock cradle for desire.
In the link that you gave, the cradle is of desire HD.
Anyway, I decided not to buy. I'll better use the money on something better like SK MW-600.

Keyboard case with hard plastic keys UK?

I am looking for a case with built in keyboard but they must be hard plastic keys! Not the silly silicon ones.
I can't seem to find one that is compatible with the touchpad/iPad 1 for sub 40 pounds. If anyone finds one please tell me otherwise I will find myself forking out for a Zaggmate!
Thanks again
Check ebay for a used zaggmate. I got one for 40 USD in good condition..
I have emailed manufacturers like zagg, logitech, NewTrent, someone else emailed clamshell, nobody seems interested in making one for the TP especially since they aren't making anymore.
Only other option is one of those cheap-looking leather ones.. OR I was also considering just a nice case/stand around 20 dollars and the OEM keyboard been around 30 dollars.

Thanks for that mate! Yeh that's where I've been looking and I can only find one for 60gbp minimum! Whereas the one for the iPad 2 is going for 20gbp!! In multiple places too :-( so really wondering why the iPad 1 zagg mate is so expensive. I don't think it will fit a zaggmate2 will it?
http://www.zagg.com/accessories/logitech-ipad-2-keyboard-case
couldn't be sure.. have to check the dimensions of the ipad 1 vs. ipad2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275443
This thread (above) says ipad 2 is not only thinner which we knew but the length and width are slightly different. Also the keyboard on the zaggmate for ipad2 uses a logitech keyboard which looks identical to zaggkeys solo so the TP may fit better in the stand but I can't say exactly for the case because of the difference in measurements. Someone may have to just get one to try it out and let the rest of us know but with the measurement differences I would say it won't fit in the case.

hmmm wonder where might sell them near me so I can check!
EDIT saying that I have just found it going on the site I recently bought my headphones from for only £40 because the box is missing.... Am seriously considering it! Most other folio keyboard cases go for about that price on ebay....

Has anyone here had to replace their stylus? If so, do you have any recommendations? Most reviews are hit or miss. Thanks.

Here in the UK the Samsung store has them in stock:
http://www.samsung.com/uk/mobile-accessories/touch-pen-pn910-galaxy-note-4/EJ-PN910BBEGWW/
Best way to be sure you're getting the genuine article, if you have access to a Samsung store in your country!

Or you could just replace the tip, as you probably got a set of replacement tips along with your device. I know I did.
I just got one off eBay think it cost me about $4. Samsung one. Works and looks fine.

FWIW, I've purchased several supposed samsung / OEM ones from various third party sellers that are close, but have never got one that is a true OEM. Same applies for other Note models.
The best ones have legitimate looking packaging, supplies, etc. One of the tells is that they often lack a number under the China / Vietnam stamp. Another is that they sometimes don't stay put in the pen slot and fall out.
The main issue with these is that they don't have much pressure sensitivity, which matters to me as I like to play amateur artist on my Notes. Compared to an OEM Note 10.1 2014 pen (1024 levels of sensitivity), the knockoff Note 4 pens have much less range (should have twice as much, 2048 levels). In fact, they even have less than my old tablet PC Wacom pens (which have 256 levels and are compatible with the Notes). If I were to guess, I'd say the 3rd party Note pens average 128 levels of sensitivity. I have even bought a Note 7 pen (should be 4096 levels) that came in packaging and everything but performed like this.
Otherwise, they work fine and should be perfectly adequate if you are just using them for notes, navigation, etc. Very rarely a really cheap knockoff won't have removable tips and only has like 4 levels of sensitivity, but those are less common these days. Even those ones tend to have the samsung logo and are generally sold by people claiming OEM.
I wouldn't pay top dollar for one unless I was getting it directly from samsung. I am currently doing my drawing with a Note 5 pen I bought from them (on sale for $20 last I checked), which unfortunately doesn't register as docked when in the pen slot but otherwise works great. If I weren't drawing I would use one of the several close knockoffs I paid from $4-$12 for on eBay and Amazon.
I just got 2 of them from the eBay link. They both work great. The button works, hand writing mode works well, it fits snugly in the phone and the phone knows when it’s docked. I’m pleasantly surprised since they were only $4.00 each. FYI the eBay seller says they're used and may show it but they look brand new to me.
Thanks, Geno
