Need display and cover for Tornado after car accident

Hello,
the phone survived a major car accident. Just the display broke and the cover doesn't look pretty anymore.
So where can I get display/cover and maybe also an internal backup battery (or is it normal that everytime I take out the battery the phone asks for time/date again?)

Actually, I regularly search eBay for the plastic LCD display faceplate and never find it. Please don't insist that everything is easy to find.

Unfortunately there is no way I can find a cover for Qtek 8310/HTC Tornado..
Any help?

This is a great find and one of only a few commercial sites that carries this. Unfortunately at $65 USD unshipped it costs 20% of the phone.

This was also a great find, and it looks like at $46 USD shipped it is the best option and it is only 15% of the phone cost. I hope that leo_kwong2007 has more even though there are none listed.

I really like the car mounts they have for the Desire. I just wonder if they will activate the car dock mode (as in the upcoming original car mount)

I had one of these for my last handset (HTC S740). Different fitting but basically the same.
I used it on my nightstand to charge my phone overnight and can say the following.
It feels a bit cheap but does the job 100%. I was always able to leave the house in the morning with a fully charged phone AND a fully charged battery.
The connections are a bit odd and looking at the Desire version, nothing has changed.
The cradle has TWO USB MINI (yes Mini not Micro like the Desire has) connections. This is not a big deal as the phone plugs into the cradle and not the cradles mains charger.
One connection takes the power in and the other connects to your computer for sync. I am guessing host USB is not enough to charge the phone and a 2nd battery.
And finally, there are plenty of these on eBay for less money and looking at the delivery dates, they will get to you even from Hong Kong sooner.

Official HTC Sensation CR S490 Desktop Cradle

I looked at Play.com and found the official HTC dock for the sensation.

£23 is a bit steep for a dock. The Kidigi dock is £18 plus it has a batter charger.
Thoughts on the official dock?

I like it, always prefer to use OEM stuff than 3rd party so might look into getting this

I wonder if this is the same dock as the one on the bell site. Although the bell dock for the sensation hasn't officially launched yet either. Can anyone confirm?

I would suggest to take the KiDiGi Docking station instead. Looks better to me!

I bought two cheap arse docks on fleabay for $14 shipped each. When this gets released though I'd likely switch as I'm a huge fan of OE accessories. Fit, finish, function is always much improved. You get what you pay for I suppose.

I'd highly recommend OE. The eBay units I bought (no name) made my screen freak out when plugged in. If I use my own HTC charger with the no name cradle it's ok. However, the generic cradle doesn't have nice little cutouts for the volume rocker switch so you have to be careful placing it on the dock. Overall, I'd buy an HTC unit if they sold them in the US.

I'd buy it. But I have the kidigi dock. Disappointed it doesn't go into dock mode...

It's the kidigi one.

i picked up one of these at the local US t-mobile store and this dock is nice but it puts the phone in this really bright "dock" mode. I rather have the clock instead.
there is also a "video" button but no clue what it does. i left it depressed. I also got the car dock as well.

[Q] Replace Touch Screen Digitizer

A few days ago I dropped my Desire S on the floor so now I need to replace the glass. The phone is still working perfectly so I'm not going to pay the full price at HTC (besides that, I got the phone for free in a contest).
So ofcourse I have done some research, and found out that there isn't a lot of information about the Desire S yet. I did stumble upon this (detailed) guide:

Although I found this guide, my first question is if anyone knows another/even better guide then this one?
My second question is about the actual Digitizer. I found some sellers on ebay, but I find it extremely difficult to determine whether they are good sellers. Does anyone have any experience with sellers on ebay? Are these digitizers of the same quality as the original? I was thinking of the following sellers:

there are quite a few screens on ebay which claim to be genuine. Not sure if they are but at least you can complain through paypal to get your money back if you don't think the item is genuine. I've only bought a digitizer once before for the iphone 3g from ebay. It turned out to be good quality and it's still in good condition apart from a little dust under the screen which might become an issue, but i think this is an issue anyway with the desire s.
Also, that guide looks pretty good and clear. can't find anything others.

i bought 2 of ebay.. Ath the moment there is a copy (non-original) digitizer on ebay and i do beleive that most of those sold on ebay are copies.. i got 1 from china and 1 from UK. The UK was copy.. The one from Hong-Kong looked like original..
you can understand the non-original as the symbols & the HTC (logo) are how can i say it "less bold" than the original. and the surface of the digitizer is not as smooth to the finger as the original

Do you remember (or can you look up) the one from Hong Kong? This shop looks pretty genuine to me, beacsue they also sell the "Frame Bezelf Housing Case". I find it hard to believe that they also make copies of those, but I might be wrong. They are also the creators of the guide I posted!

the thing is that this one looked original, but the back of the digitizer (the circuits & the cable ) was a little bit different than original..
The copy which i got from a UK seller looked as a copy (text symbols and touch wise - it even was a fingertips magnet 200% more than original) but looked exactly like the original from behind (even the cable had the same part numbers etc) clearly a great copy job
so you choose original front or original back

[Q] Where to buy genuine HTC battery

I've been looking everywhere for a genuine original HTC Desire battery, but it seems impossible to find them! I've even ordered an expensive one from an eBay seller, but it's just a fake, which looks very similar on the front side but has different backside. It says "Manufactured by Formosa Electronic" in very small text.
Do you have experience that which of these sellers are posting genuine HTC batteries from Amazon?

Have you been able to recently find a genuine HTC battery for normal price, like around 10 pounds?

It's funny that you ask because I have been looking for a battery today. I found this website that appears to be genuine http://www.htcaccessorystore.com/uk/p_htc.aspx but it isn't cheap (about £35).
I'll look forward to the feedback on your other options. I bought one for a Sony Xperia (not mine) for £8 from Amazon and it was fine, but the reviews for the Desire batteries don't look good.

recently i bought a "geniue" Battery for my Desire on ebay from a german seller.
When it came, it appeared to be original, but when i installed it, it gave me constant voltage and temperature values. So it was a faked one. I sent it back and became one behaving exactly the same. So i got my money back.
The next one was on Amazon, but not directly from Amazon. It also looked original, but it didn`t fit perfectly and it didn`t even charge. I´m waiting for a replacement atm. I´m still hoping to get a good one. All were about 10 Euro

eBay 101 - lesson one - when something looks too good to be true, chances are it isn't.

Original one is around 30€ from registered reseller, 40€ HTC original

I think it's worth telling which seller did we buy from.
The fake which looked almost like the original was from "phonemarketuk" on eBay.
Now I've ordered one from "FoneM8store" from Amazon UK. I'll report when it arrives!
Before I was able to buy an original one from a seller for 7 pounds, so there is hope!
If there is nothing else, I think the best route is to go with PolarCell from Germany.

I tested the one from Amazon with my battery tester. It had about 1000mAh so the problem is not only the missing of values, but it has also less capacity than the original. Mine has about 1200mAh after 1.2 years.
But the worst was when i applied 5Volts to the Battery, it didnt switch off. So
this could be dangerous if anything in the charger circuit goes wrong.

Can you post a link? In Amazon.co.uk at least I've spend _ages_ looking for a genuine but there was none, and Amazon wasn't selling any directly.

HTC SAV recommended me the HTC Accessory Store as the official HTC reseller. The battery for HTC Desire is expensive (~40 Euros) but I'm bored searching for the cheapest OEM one after being deceived from 2 reputated sellers (not on ebay) with fake ones.
Has anyone ever ordered the battery from that site (htcaccessorystore.com which is in fact Expansys company) ?
And the real question is : is that the genuine one that came with the phone and can be calibrated... ?

not a battery but i've purchased a number of htc things from expansys and found them to be fast, reputable and trusted. if they say it's a genuine battery i'd be inclined to believe them.

I think the conclusion was that the only way to get genuine battery is to buy from the main Amazon.de shop. Be careful, not to by from a reseller, but from the amazon.de seller. Also, on this page one of them is fullfilled by amazon and it says 100% original, it might work.

Not ebay....my battery caught fire and melted my phone....thankfully it still works

You can look for a AOONEN BB99100 BATTERY FOR DESIRE A8181 on ebay: I bought one 3 month ago and it is a very reliable battery, last the same as than the original one.
I'm very pleased with it.
