Guys, I'm currently using Revolution 3.3. First time flashed, I got over 24h of battery life with overnight only about 1%/hr drop on sleep, but now it's draining like crazy. Trying to use current widget to log usage but it always reads 0mA. I'm not sure if there is something with the ROM that prevents the widget to monitor CPU.

I'm not sure what it was likie out of the box cause I flashed right away. But the first time off charger after flash was great over 24 h. I think there some apps I put on there that are drawing power just trying to figure it out, but the only app I know that logs usage is Current Widget and it doesn't work with Revolution 3.3.
i think that ROM doesnt have the right current file because someone else posted the same issue a few weeks ago. something about the ROM they were using did not work with the current widget, it always showed 0mA. a different ROM is all i can suggest. and i dont know why this would happen in the first place. all ROMs should be using the same battery driver, which outputs the same sysfs files that the current widget reads.
though i have seen this be different. if your ROM is say, based on the desire HD, which may use a different battery driver, then the file would be different, hence current widget breaks. you would have to "trick" the current widget into looking for the other phone's current file and use that.
Resolved
So apparent Setcpu interferes with current widget. After removing setcpu mA displayed fine. Worth a try for those having similar issues.

This should not be the case. I have had current widget and setcpu both working on my device before. At the time I would have been running CoreDroid.
However, I'm now using LeeDroid and current widget is showing a constant 0mA. Setcpu is also installed and working fine.
I'm not sure exactly what's going on under the hood for all this, but I'd like my milliamps back!

Maybe some sort of difference in readings due to different battery sizes? Thats my best guess.

I'm assuming the lower idle mA is from using gingerbread?
I would think the larger battery would last longer (theoretically it should right)
I'm going to give stock ROM a day or two more to give it some break in time

Damn you that is freaking good numbers.
To the person seeing 37 mA, may be your ROM, or likely you have stuff running using CPU cycles. Try system panel, over night test, and see what shows up in your list. Only the paid version does that though unfortunately, but its so worth it to own that app.
This is the most relevant topic I could find to post in.
So when I originally rooted the phone and was running the stock rooted ROM, I tried Current Widget and my log was showing drops of between -1 and -5 mA's, but I tested again recently and I'm regularly showing drops of between -60 and -70 mA's.
I've tried with both the stock radio (26.06.04.06M) as well as the updated radio from the recently released HTC WiFi update (26.06.06.30M) and several different ROMs (MIUI, CM7, Inspired Saga, Inspired Ace) and am still noticing significantly higher drain then when I first got the phone. I've since RUU'd back to stock and am now testing that way.
I have noticed that with WiFi OFF, I'm only seeing the expected -1 to -7 mA drain. As I understand it, WiFi is supposed to be more battery efficient than the mobile network, so this I don't get.
Can anyone explain why this might be happening or a possible resolution?

Also any tips to decrease battery usage would be helpful. Besides the ordinary turn down the brightness crap haha. Im using autokiller memory optimizer, could that affect it much?

Everything I've ever read about Android says that those memory optimizer/task killers actually make your battery drain more quickly rather than making it last longer.
G2X CM7
It looks like you're using the phone for long periods of time every time the phone is on. Watching tv episodes or navigating w/ the GPS maybe (with high brightness)? If so, your battery life is probably just fine.
It's easier to gauge battery life when nothing is going on, eg screen off. That way you could use Betterbatterystats to monitor wakelocks to see which things are keeping your phone awake when the screen is off.
I know one big battery gobbler is latitude.
Well mem optimizer is different. Except its hard to set up for yourself correctly, so not worth the minimal gaain BC chances are you're doing it wrong. No offense. I tried it for a few days and couldn't get it right
And ya, I'd say that's pretty bad. Check mine out, ESP the screen on time and percentage
Wont let me upload.. whatever. Ive hhad 10hrs of data on and 5 of wifi, 2.5 of screen ON and I'm sitting around 66%, So multiply that by three for a complete drain.

Thanks everyone! I just decided to go with the latest nightly. I set up memory optimizer up right i think it was worked fairly well actually (usually i had more than 200mb of free RAM) I also hit the auto task killer widget alot cause im like ocd about things running. Will hitting that alot drain battery? Also Im thinking about starting a thread where you charge up your phone for exactly 30 minutes while the screen is off and take a screenshot. It might be interesting to check out charge up times on different ROMs/kernels but I'm not sure if they would differ or not? You guys think I should do it?

Correct. Task killers waste more battery because your phone ends up running more CPU cycles to restart the tasks you killed that didn't need to be.
G2X CM7
If i kill all the tasks and wait a second and go back into advanced task killer and uncheck all the ones that started back up again would that be more productive?
My best experience in saving battery has been done by:
1. Turn the lights off when you're not using them!
(GSP, WiFi, & Data control via power control widget)
2. Underclock CPU when phone is on standby or below 30-50%
(Using faux123 & SetCPU profiles)
3. Turn off any sync that isn't needed. Avoid Push. If you ever do need syncs (for mail or social media) tell it to update at selected intervals, I usually have mine between 1-4 hours.
As for killing apps, I usually use the "long-press to kill app" option in CM7 ROMS to close out of apps when I'm done using them. Otherwise a quick visit to the "running processes" to make sure nothing to battery/data intensive is running will usually do the trick.
But you shouldn't want to kill every running task, most don't take up a noticeable amount of battery life. Just be mindful of FB, Games, Cameras, or data intensive apps.
On a normal day I will use WiFi to download a few apps or files, use GPS for directions, and Data network for MMS or other and still get through a full day with 60-70% battery life on my G2x.
when u r free, Install Current Widget from market and turn on log in it and update after 60 secs... let phone for 30 mins in standby...
in standby I get 150-200mAh with WiFi, Data and all applications closed... I saw one forum, they said it should be 3 - 10 mAh... how is that so?
that looks like a battery drainer to me...I m suprised its a newly flashed Rom, nothing jnstdlled... whate causing battery drain?
Tell me whats your average current flow values in standby mode with everything off...?
I get 120-200 on stock room with wifi on and syncing.

current widget is not going to show you the correct drain. use battery monitor widget. many more settings to mess with
So I've been reviewing over the logs shown by Current Widget, I was wondering curiously to myself, is having negative mAH (-xxx mAH) a good or bad thing compared to a positive mAH (xxx mAH) reading? Because I get mixed readings from time to time.
Current widget doesn't work on the htc sensation and battery monitor widget isn't very accurate,
Where did you find people getting less than 10mA? Gimmue a link,

In bmw check mA corrections in settings.
Underclock cpu using system tweaks also set screen of profile in settings, ive lowered voltage to cpu -100mA aswell

Juice defender to manage connections when screen of. Don't use auto brightness just manage it your self.

My Nexus S constantly freezes on battery. It's very slow, and unresponsive, it rarely stays alive fore more than 5 minutes. It's completely unusable on battery. Oddly, if it's charging it might work (still pretty slow and unresponsive after booting but it eventually sorts itself and works.) Another thing is the battery has *never* held a charge above 95%. Every-so-often it will charge to 96 or 97 but left connected to the charger it will start discharging and settle back to 95%.
It's running CM nightly. the battery charge problem happened even on the stock ROM. The freezing is probably a recent problem, I don't use this phone often enough to know.
Does anyone know about either of these problems? Is it related to CM? I don't want to switch to the stock ROM if I don't have to. The only reason I'm trying to use this phone is my DHD gets abysmal battery life. The other day, barely using the DHD, I went from 100% battery to 10% in just 6 hours.
what do you mean by "freeze on battery" ? i know single word , but when these 3 words combined a sentence , i have no idea
by what you say 95% , that's normal , if you are using kernel that does not indicate it can makes battery charge to 100% , then you won't be charge to 100% , mostly 95% tops , sometimes get pass 95% due to overcharge protection.
i assume your problem is your phone running pretty slow ?
you may wanna check your CPU usage because some applications may be running background and has high CPU usage
also you need check your battery's voltage , low voltage output will make CPU run slow due to not enough power ...
anyway , personal suggestion , first of all , back up your personal data and then flash stock ROM see if it is ROM problem , and then we could think of something else
good luck

"freeze on battery" means that it only freezes when the power source is the battery. Plugged in to my computer or a charger and it doesn't happen.
try use another battery , i think it may be freeze due to low power output that makes CPU and other hardware do not have enough juice to function properly
Solved
I've solved the problem... I removed 120 apps from the phone and have had no problems since. I don't know if it was one particular app causing a problem or just that I had so many installed.

well i'm using onecosmic's ics rom and it's fantastic, but i found it weird that my Android OS process was almost doubling my display usage.

Yeah, I've started to realise it's a problem with the graph, not the actual usage. Battery lasts just as long as on ginger bread.

Oh really? I'm getting slightly less battery now than I ever have on any ohter custom ROM, and I don't think it's because ICS is less efficient.
I don't think my phone is sleeping properly, as I'm losing about 3% an hour with my phone off, nothing going on except for the usual google syncs, which i've always had on on any rom.
Total I'm getting about 12-13 hours, and it's not my display topping off usage, but android OS. My keep awake times seem pretty ridiculous given that they're always greater than the culmunative time spent out of deepsleep (according to cpu spy)
which kernel are you guys using?

I doubt it, the battery life is a good 5-7 hours less than GB with the same usage. the android OS is definitely preventing it from sleeping properly. GB would barely loose 5-7% during an idle of about 7-8 hours, now i loose close to 20%+
I've been using oICS v43 and Steve's Awesome Sauce kernel (aosp linked it from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...64221&page=503). I was able to get 17hrs of battery with medium-heavy use (Netflix, Droid TV Prime Time, Browsing, File Downloading, Texting, Couple Calls, and Wifi Always On). If I let it run without using it, I'm looking at 60+ hrs of battery life.
I'm trying Matrix v14 right now. Will let you know results.
Tested it with cpu spy, cleared all timers and left my phone 10 hours over night. On settings the os was on top but cpu spy said my phone was in deep idle 9.5h of 10. I got updates for weather every hour and a bad wireless signal so that COULD take 30 min of awake considering it also have to get my location.
Im soooo trusting cpu spy over the standard battery history so I also belive it could be a log problem instead of a real awake bug.

I do agree with you. Similar behaviour with my NS. That Android OS consumption even higher than my Screen, yet I still manage to clocked 24-30h with my moderate usage.
* I use full ROM instead of Update one.
I'm not sure if people are not using their phones, but I'm already at half battery life and I just unplugged less than 5 hours ago. I'm on eugene's kernel and tried Matrix's as well, both haven't help along with the oICSv43. I've been closing out my programs after I opened them too. I just bought the phone/battery off ebay, the battery is a samsung and it was in a sealed plastic bag, so it should be brand new, but I could be wrong.
I'm almost ready to go back to stock.
You dont have to be a genious to seal a plastic bag. If the seller was ebay trusted then it should be good and you should look somewhere else. For me for ex, low brightness using loggraph improves battery more than any kernel.

I never heard of these roms, I'm on Sprint.
With My Xoom, when I had honeycomb installed with Airplane Mode enabled I could easily leave the Xoom on my counter for a couple of weeks and I would still have a 20-30% of battery power.
Since I installed the EOS Nightly ICS build the tablet eats up 30% of battery power after only 4 hours even on Airplane mode.
Something is definitely amiss here.

Now I let the mobile phone untouched from tonight ~0 am till morning ~6 am and checked the battery stats. It went from 95% to 78% in 6 hours of idle. Wifi and mobile data options were on but it gets automatically disabled over night, atleast it was when I woke up the phone at 6 am the first time.
That's almost 3%/h while at sleep and seems high for me. Anyone running the same rom and can check the consumption?
Thanks in advance.

I just searched the rom thread and found this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51020469&postcount=5994
His battery stays at the same level for over 6 hours over night and with wifi on.
I just made a screen of mine for comparison and I hope I can get some help.

since you have done only two charges i suggest to wait a little more
for example 2-3 more circle charges
then battery will settle down and you will be able to see how it behaves
also how old is you battery and what battery you have?

probably yes
i have seen difference into mine
Do you have a lot of sync to Facebook, Twitter, weather and mail?
You could try to undervolt a bit in tweaks.
Remember to run through a couple of complete charges befor you can see how your battery life is.
And last, perhaps your need a new battery.

Weather once a day. Furthermore dropbox, google and whatsapp if they matter.
I will wait 2-3 more charge cycles then before trying something like UC/UV or even new battery. I hope it won't be needed.
whatsapp - Battery Killer
I saved up a lot of battery by uninstalling g+ and google now, not freezing them or hibernating
