[Q]E:signature verification failed - General Questions and Answers

I was trying to flash my custom rom on a lg chic, but it doesn't start installing it because of that error.
How to fix?

I don't know what recovery you are using but do you have an option to turn signature verification off ?

Ummmm stupid question.... but, is your phone rooted?
As for recovery, clockworkmod seems to be the most popular, but not sure if it will work on your phone.

yes it's rooted with z4root, but i can't find any recovery to flash

No boot or recovery img

Can someone help? I can't get into clockworkmod recovery mode.

Make sure you have newest version by flashing through ROM manager.

He can't boot, therefor can't use ROM manager. Flash recovery.img from fastboot. You can find CWM recovery images here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=988686
If you don't know how to use fastboot and flash from it, just search xda, and you'll find many guides ...
Good luck!

Can't get custom recovery

Hello I used super one click to get root.
I installed Root Explorer.
I know I have root because I get:
#
Then I type su and get
su
But when I try to open root explorer it doesn't prompt me su permissions.
Also ROM Manager won't flash recovery either.
Can anyone point me in the right direction

Download the app 'root checker' and use that to see if you really have root.

here, follow this video carefully... it has all the instructions and a root that includes recovery already on it...

I use the root checker and it told me that I didn't have root.
I ran Super One Click and did the test again and still the same results.
I can get to su in adb but still can use any app that requires root or flash CWM Recovery.
I am going to try the video method u sent me.
I will post results.
Hopefully I can install the Maximus Ginger ROM.

Finally Worked
Ok I followed the video tutorial and I finally got root and CWM.
I am now going to attempt to install Maximus Ginger...
If you guys want to use the same method I did download and use this:
http : // tinyurl. com/ Sidekick 4GALLin One
Delete all the space in between
Its an all in one Root and Recovery...
Hope this helps those who had the same issues as me...
Thank u all for your help...

Its actually 4.0.0.2 if you're going to be anal about it...
I'm pretty sure downloading cwm from rom manager doesn't flash a voodoo recovery (3.0.0.2).

ROMs wont install
Ok so now I have ran my SK4G through odin 5 times...Going on 6...
Root and Recovery work perfectly with that method...
But everytime I install a ROM I get stuck at the boot screen with my sidekick vibrating and restarting....
Everywhere I read it talks about the Mounts... Yes I know they are very important...
So I make sure they are what they are supposed to be when flashing the ROM...
But once the ROMs install it reboots automatically and I cant change the mounts...
I have tried both Smooth Maximus and Maximus Ginger, Lightning ROM, and Clean Fusion...
The same thing happens to me after I install any of these ROMs....
It always reboots after the installation...
Has anyone ran into this issue or can help me figure out what to do now...
Thanks Guys
i tryed both oneclick and this way allinone i am rooted but cant ger recovery to work i get
andriod system recovery samsung recovery utils but not clock works
Yes! Thanks! I've been trying to get root access on my dads phone since we got it, still don't know why SOC worked on my phone and not his, but this solved the problem, thanks!

After you use the All in One download ROM Manager.
Then Flash the SK4G Recovery through there.
For some reason you have to reboot into CWM recovery only by using ROM Manager.
If you reboot manually or through adb you are going to have to choose install packages then CWM Recovery will load.
I am still stuck with no custom ROM...
every rom that I install soft bricks my device and then I have to use odin to restore.
Does anyone know of a ROM that I can flash through odin that is nice like Smooth Maximus or Similar?
Thanks

nope. use fastboot to flash recovery. nexus s hacks has links to everything you need. (USB & fastboot drivers, recovery img files, and su zip files)
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
replace the recovery.img with the actual filename of your recovery IMG file, then place the su zip on the root of your SD card & flash through recovery. I use cwm, but there are others available.

Maybe you can see in this wiki cyanogenMod ( iam sorry, i can not give the link because i have no permision to give the link
There's a lot instruction to instal android sdk, fastboot or instal CWM

I am going to install a custom ROM first time,Is it necessary to have boot loader unlocked in order to install any custom rom and kernel via cwm?
What could happen if boot loader is locked and ROM is installed?

As far as i know, all custom roms require the device to be rooted, firts of all you need to root/unlock your phone, then install Recovery Application that would help you flash custom rom (Like ClockWordMod) and after that flash your custom rom.
Btw all that info is located on this forum for each and any Android phone regardless of brand and model (at least 90% of them).

Yes you have to root your phone to root your phone you need to unlock bootloader than install recovery then you can install a custom ROM... You will find procedure in your device foram hopefully...
And rooting means to get Administrator privileges... I hope it helped.

If you are using cwm recovery it means your bootloader is already unlocked just put your desired rom zip file in sd card and then make a nandroid backup of your current rom.. You can make nandroid backup by going in cwm recovery and select backup and restore and follow the procedure..
After this do a factory reset and then install your rom....
I hope it helped.?

also dont forget to flash the appropriate gapps zip

I support. This seems like a boot.img problem. Try to make it via PC while the phone is in fastboot mode.
This is for a galaxy s3, would download/odin mode qualify as a fastboot mode? :S

Make a flash able zip for boot.img.
.img cannot be flashed through custom recoveries. .
Only zip file can be flashed.
