i9023 custom rom HELP - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi i was just wondering will custom rom for i9020 work for i9023 as well.

Yep. Running CM7 Final on mine

This sounds strange! The ROMs for I9000 wont work on I9003 because it's SLCD instead of SAMOLED but how come the same thing works on nexus s! I9020 VS I9023 is nothing but the screen variation I suppose?

[Q] What are the differences between the Rogers and the ATT version of the Infuse 4G?

Hi All,
I have just purchased the Samsung Infuse 4G as my new secondary device after my SGSII and I am wondering what the substantial differences are between the Rogers and the ATT version of this device, keeping in mind that I am in Canada and am on Rogers?
What ROMS CAN and CANT I flash? What Kernels CAN and CANT I flash?, etc, etc, etc...
Please advise as I used to have the Galaxy S I9000M (Canadian version of the International version) and I was able to flash International ROMS, etc... Can this be done on the Infuse 4G without losing my proper service bands, etc?
Thanks for the replies...

Im sorry but I dont understand wht you are trying to tell me. What is "Galaxy S lable" and what do you mean "Gingerbread that I know of"? If you mean that the ROGERS version already comes preloaded with Gingerbread 2.3.3 and NOT with Froyo 2.2.1 then that I already know.
Please advise...
Well the Canadian Infuse is a Galaxy S device and are is not even though it is the same device. So this just proves that Galaxy S is just a label.
and the android version. those seems to be just the major differences.

Thank You again for your reply Optimus but what I am really wondering is if I am able to flash "ATT based" custom ROMS, etc after I root and install CWM. I know the rooting proceedure for the ROGERS version of the Infuse 4G is different but is the actual "firmware"? Will I mess up the device by flashing it with ROMS created from ATT firmware, etc?
Does anyone know?
i dont think it would matter since we are running your roms on your phones. Gingerbread. but i mean you can always ultimate unbrick if something goes wrong. so its worth a try. and just a hint. att roms are froyo based
From what I can tell you,
We have Gingerbread 2.3.3 we do not have HDMI output. (Not a big deal for me).
Our video recording is a bit messed up (Recording at 15fps) but there is a fix now. Other than that there's not a huge difference.
Differences:
1) Cosmetics (that's what the other guy meant by "Galaxy S label") - no differences internally hardware-wise
2) Gingerbread bootloaders
Basically 2) means you can't flash old Froyo-based ROMs because no one bothered to make them compatible with the GB bootloaders - we focused on going the other way around. Our Gingerbread kernels are capable of working with Froyo or Gingerbread bootloaders.
Any ROM you might want to flash is based on your stock firmware currently, since official AT&T Gingerbread isn't out yet. Samfirmware claims it's officially out on Kies, but Kies refuses to connect to our phones so I call BS.

[Q] any stock roms on Nexus S in Philippines??

any full stock roms out there from nexus s philippines??
not that I know of
Try to find out the model number of the Nexus S found there. It's most likely either the i9020T or i9020A, based on the quick Googling I just did. After that, there's a list of stock ROMs in the general section for each version of the Nexus S.

[Q] i9023 android 4.0 update failed!!

Hi guys, I'm on a Google Nexus S i9023 working on Softbank Japan. I've downloaded the official ICS rom and tried to update but in vain. Can anybody tell me what does the thread mean by T-mobile version? Anything different between them and the AT&T ones? 9020? Or 9023? I really can't wait to bite my first ICS! BTW, I'm on CM7 latest nightly builds. Help! Thanks.

I don't know what the difference is besides the radios. Maybe someone else can elaborate on that. Either way, the T-Mobile version is the i9020T and the AT&T version is the i9020A.

So, 9023 cannot get the update yet?
I think I got it! It is because of the CM7, I went back to official 2.3.6, and bang, it worked!
Im an owner of a Nexus S i9023 in Argentina, I bought the phone in Europe (Spain). Please hy3301 tell me if the upgrade to ICS works fine on your i9023, thank you!

It works great, but you have to flash it after you flash back to the stock rom 2.3.7. obviously the root is lost and there seems to be no solution to that at this moment.
Wooohoooooo
OMGOMGOMG
Works with my Dutch Nexus S ( I9023 )
I'm using a i9023 with no problems at all except I can't accept and deny root permission(the root it self works though)

i9023 error while searching for networks
Hi,
I updated to ICS 4.0.3 in i9023 Nexus S. Everything is fine but it is not able to find the mobile networks.
On 'Search for Networks' it is giving "Error while searching for networks".
Can someone help me solving this or reverting back to Gingerbread?
Thanks!!!
Me too. But whatever, we got ICS and root. What a good day!

Roms and radio for 9020, 9020T & 9023 are same. Radio for 9020a is different.
So if you are buying a T-Mobile ns, you should be able to flash any ROMs from this 3g section of Nexus S.
