This thread is for users of MIUI ROMS for the Inspire 4G and the Desire HD, although the apps listed/recommended in this thread are applicable to any ROM.
MIUI Themes are specific to MIUI and will not work on other ROMS. HERE is a good place to start. Verify within each thread if the theme is gingerbread ready/compliant.
Some MIUI Users choose to use alternate launchers such as ADW or Launcher Pro. Themes for those and other launchers are applicable for use in MIUI only when used with the corresponding launcher.
If you would like to try out MIUI ROM

Apps - 1st Edition
A few apps that I use a lot that others might enjoy. MrGarak and I are going to attempt a regular post such as this one.
When viewing from your computer, simply scan the QR CODE image with your phone using Barcode Scanner (or like app) - choose to open in browser and it will take you directly to the app within Android Market. As with most pay apps there are free trial versions. Simply choose "View More Applications" near the bottom and it will show you other versions (trial version) and other apps by that developer.
1. PlayerPro
While there are many music playing apps on the Android Market - this is currently my preferred one. The interface is superb and it's accuracy with downloading artwork for not only songs but also for the artists themselves is amazingly accurate.
Sound quality is great as well (don't forget turboniumX's audio fix from OP) and it also has custom quality sounds/eq that you can save as profiles to use at any time.
Optionally using PlayerPro as your lockscreen music player is also an impressive look and integrates nicely.

2. Poynt
This is along the lines of many - Where to see a movie. Where to eat. What events are near me, etc. But, Poynt also has a very handy added feature in today's times of where to buy petrol (gasoline). Using your location it will display gas prices at nearby stations.
You can also search for People, phone numbers etc --- as well as businesses. And this is all in one application.
3. Sleep Now
In essence it's a "sound soother". Go to sleep listening to the relaxing sounds of ocean waves, a gentle thunderstorm - or if you sleep well on trains it has that one as well as many others.
Other key conveniences are for "power naps". Place your headphones on and take a quick nap listening to a soothing sound and at the end of the timer you set - the alarm will sound to wake you up.
There are many other features for this app.
4. Plume Premium
For those of you that are Twitter freaks - this is the best app out there in my opinion. The interface is nice. It has great widgets. And it is very intuitive for following trends, etc. To begin - at least give the free version a shot.
A great addition to your Twitter follow list would be miuidev - It will keep you updated with latest changes, bug fixes and releases. Which you would of course see in builds here and in MrGarak's thread.
5. XDA Premium
If you're not already using this - or it's free version - you should be.
Enough said.

Theme: Android 3.0 which can be found in Theme Manager - Online Themes
Lock Screen is stock using MIUI Music - Double Tap the unlock bar to enable music controls
WP Clock live wallpaper available in Market or scan QR code below to be taken directly to it.
Theme
The name of this theme is written in Chinese but can easily be found in Theme Manager - Online - Latest
Simply look for the picture below.
I like this theme a lot as it's updated and gingerbread ready. It's clean and simple with nice icons. It also adds some nice colored icons to sub menus that make things easier to see and choose from.
Give it a try if you would like. Lock screen image below.
Mimimal warm theme
This theme is called "Minimal Warm" and the thread for it in miui-dev theme forum can be found HERE
It is still in development but is a very nice theme. A few things I have noticed are some missing icons that appear blank in your dock - like the one for Phone and Browser. This is easily fixed by removing them and adding them back.
The signal strength indicators in notification bar take some getting used to - but they're unique and very fresh compared to the same'old same'old.
Different Launchers
One of the things you hear from people who try MIUI for the first time is the iPhone feel to it; some like it, some don't. I thought I'd show how moving to a different launcher can change the look to more like what you are used to seeing.
This is pretty much how it looks when you first load up MIUI, with the MIUI clock and the Chinese gone from the tool folder. You don't have an app drawer, just a ton of home screens. You can always create folders to organize your apps, just like the iPhone; unlike the iPhone, you can put an app in more than one folder.
This is Launcherpro with the MIUI Weather widget on it. More like what you are used to seeing; other launchers like ADW or Go Launchers will work too.
Some of us use SPB Shell; it's a bit expensive, and in need of a few tweaks, but it's pretty cool. You really notice the coolness when you hit the home button and you can rotate all of the screens around.
If you don't like the look of MIUI at first, start playing with themes and/or load up a launcher; the customizations are endless.
Smitty hit it dead on. If you like an iOs look then you have it and you have it in spades. Highly customizable in many ways than can be explained.
Example: Let's say you like the icons of one theme - the boot screen of another screen - the text font of another theme - and the lock screen of yet another. Well -- you can have it your way. It's like Burger King, but without all the fat grams and scary employees.
In any other case you can use a launcher of your choice and have that look.
I would create the QR codes for all the different launchers, but I'm lazy at the moment and unless you just bought your phone an hour ago and have never heard of ADW - ADW-EX - Launcher Pro - Go Launcher - Wave Launcher - Zeam (no longer supported but still works great) - SPB Shell 3D (as shown above by Smitty) ---- each with their own laundry list of themes and customizations.
Speaking of themes
Here are some more MIUI Themes from miui-dev forum that I have tested.
Have fun.
AEOLUS HD
Ultimate iPhone Theme
arc.2.2.4.2 It's an enhanced stock miui theme with loads of extras
Gingerbread Glowbusters
In case you're wondering: Yes some themes don't have customized lock screens so they're defaulted. You can edit the lock screen in Theme Manager. Follow the links and there are additional pictures of each theme on its devs thread.

Thinking of switching to miui, and love these screenies, but I have a few questions.
What framework is this?
The green bar at the top is battery percentage?
Also maybe a dumb question but miui themes do not change the framework right? Like you have to do it separately?

The main alternate one I use is ADW -- there's a paid version as well ADW-EX - but the free one is highly customizable.
ADW is what comes with a lot of roms including CM7
Edit: Launcher Pro is also a great one and the first launcher I downloaded when I first rooted my Galaxy S - and on my Dell Streak.
Oh, let me check it out. I just got GO launcher, not bad.

Hey again.
The Goal of this Project was to simply allow theming of the Sense UI for unrooted Devices. But in the past few days this project has grown into something more. The ultimate goal is to create a Sense Launcher that is completely independent from the framework. So far we are on track.
How it works.
With Sense, it is kind of difficult to utilize HTC apps by themselves. Reason is most of the apks call for resources from each other, and also they must share a common signature.
I started with Rosie.apk, the Sense Launcher, and have stripped it of that requirement. But, another concern arises. Once you have one instance of an application installed, Android does not allow you to install it again. So, how can you install a new Rosie without root access? Well, what happens next is I changed the package name of Rosie inside the smali and xml and the AndroidManifest, so the OS thinks it is a new application, thus allowing it to install simultaneously with the stock Rosie.apk, much like if you were installing ADW Launcher.
The Plan.
Currently, as of today June 30, 2011, I am only Rosie.apk modified to behave in this manner. I do plan to make the Widgets work as well. Right now, the widgets DO NOT work because, as mentioned previously, they require the launcher to have the same signature.
The Instructions.
Download from either link.
Install via a file manager like Astro or "adb install"
Press the HOME Key and it will ask you which Launcher you want to use, select "HttC Sense". hehe. HttC.
Enjoy!
To revert back to Stock Rosie, go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications and clear defaults under HttC Sense....or.....Use THIS APP
Note, if you do not want to start over with new homescreens each time, I suggest installing via:
adb install -r Rosie-vx.x.x.apk

Install Won't Work
This is for everyone with problems.
adb install works with the file from the computer, not the sdcard.
YOU have two options:
NOT RECOMMENDED
Mount sdcard as a disk drive
then run
adb install -r /Volumes/sdcard/download/Rosie-v0.9.9.apk
OR, preferred method,
download to computer
type
adb install -r /PATH/TO/Rosie-v0.9.9.apk
for example:
PC:
adb install -r C:\Users\Persnlmgr\Downloads\Rosie-v0.9.9.apk
MAC
adb install -r /Users/tommytomatoe/Downloads/Rosie-v0.9.9.apk
Why don't you just work on getting Root Tommy?
Good question. I like to learn new things but figure out exploits in an Android OS requires great expertise, of which I do not have. I also like to do what I am good at. Plus, it will be awesome for unrooted devices to have customizations unique to rooted devices.
Will this mod/hack/app work on Rooted Devices?
I am sure it would so long as you are running a ROM with com.htc.resources from OTA 4.24
Why Can't I see the HTC Clock/Calendar/Bookmarks/Et Cetera Widget in the Add to Home Screen?
Explained above. Something to do with Signatures. In the plans to make all the Widgets Work.
This Project is dumb!
It may or may not be dumb, but I feel that is a challenge to mod and development even on locked devices. Even if the main system Tweaks can't be achieved, it's still cool to me to be running a 4x5 Workspace while unrooted.
Please please Post all concerns and questions or Requests. Remember. This is for me as well as for you.

Really great idea Tommy. I sort of saw this coming but I thought it would happen over in the Evo3D thread where they all seem to be just dying to mod their new phones.
Your idea for 4x5 is great.......this is not dumb, it's a challenge! There are lots of folks stuck unrooted for lots of reasons. Gotta give them something....
I've recently discovered that there are several other mods you can do to an unrooted Evo if you can get your MSL.
You can access the data menu ##3282# to tweak 3g and 4g settings (speed and connection).
You can change the sprint banner on the lock screen with QPST.
You can change your PRL ##775# to force roam if you need to.
You can even increase the volume. (did the others, haven't tried this one)
I can't wait to see what else you come up with while we wait for 4.22 root!
Thanks misfit! Was in a hurry running late for work so I didn't add everyone to my list.
Steve, nice info. Great for peeps to know.
I realize that a minority if peeps who visit xda are rooted or are attempting to root, so this seems kind of silly. But a surprising majority of Android users don't care about root. I have many friends who haven't rooted or have rooted to only tether. But of this group of people I know some would .like a little more customization.
I know personally I have enjoyed many tweaks that are normally not possible. I hope to bring some of these to the everyone who would like to use them. For now I think this will be a personal project but I will continue to post more updates as I make more widgets work.

Congratulations on making this feat work without root! I would definitely want it even if I didn't care for root. The only thing I don't like is the fact that all htc widgets have to be resized to work with 4x5. Btw I'm running the 3d rosie for synergy and I am LOVING your transparent notification mod.. but how do I invert the menu background transparent to match?

Ok, sorry but I meant when you're on the home screen and press ur "menu" button, the little popup menu that appears at the bottom of the screen lol. I found the png in a rom a while back but I completely forgot where I saw it! I would then need to make that text white but I don't know how

A little update.
Rosie now has remappable right button for the unrooted. Will work on making both buttons work. I'm at work so I will upload later tonight.
Again, these mods aren't useful for rooted persons, but tell your unrooted friends they can launch Facebook with the right button. Hehe

Here some screenies. Was a pain to get ScreenCapture app to work!
Okay, I try installing the 092, I hit Home and get my choices, choose HttC, I get the purdy red and white TommyTomatoCustoms screen, and then I get an FC that goes by so fast I can barely see it, but I think it's "process.???"...
Gonna uninstall, reboot and try again...
Update: No go. Still getting FC - "process.com.htc.launcher.tommytomato"
Update 2: Thought you might've up'd to 4.24, so I did, and still nada zip zero (although now Netflix works!)...in fact this time when I hit the Home key it no longer offers the 2 choices, just shows me my 5 screens...rebooting to check again..
Update 3: Still no go...hit Home get 5 screens...nadazipzero...uninstalling and awaiting your sage advice...
Hey Neil. With v 0.9.2 you need to install the launchKey app first. I bet you that is your issue. Please give it go. Uninstall all versions of HttC sensex then install launchkey, the install v0.9.2

Hi everybody, i'm the developer of Smart Launcher. There were other threads on xda about my launcher but I thought it was a good idea to start another one, update by me, to talk about its development. I hope this is not against the forum rules and if it is, i'm sorry.
Smart Launcher is an innovative launcher characterized by a minimalist design, low memory usage and an user-friendly UI that let you start any application with a few taps.
It is currently the only launcher on the store to features automatic cataloging of installed apps!
The developing team is composed by just me, so please be patient if sometimes i'm late with the updates.

I'm working on a new version that bring new clock styles, new bubbles style and a strong code optimization in the drawer. There is a bug that cause the launcher to crash on drawer on some devices and I'm trying to understand why this happens. If you'd like to try the new version you can download and install this package. Let me know if any error occurs.

tested the new version on my optimus one p500, no force closes so far
what's the difference between the free and pro version...also testing it right now
Im using the pro version, im loving it! Can we request features? If so id like to request these:
- Option to add widgets on homescreen
- Option to change app drawer icon
- Add folders in app drawer
- Different clock styles
nvm, I got a force close when I tried to add an app to another category and now apps don't appear on the app drawer and I mean no apps appear on the app drawer.

I really do like this launcher. I purchased the pro edition. My two complaints-
1. Can't resize widgets
2. I'd like to be able to add sections/pages/categories. For example, I'd really like to have a favorites category.

1. I hope to manage to add this feature asap;
2. It's not so easy. If the original set of categories change, the auto-catalogation will stop working. I'm searching for a solution...
my words are. just keep the launcher simple and lagg free.. dont bloat it too much. just keep the basic functions... testing it right now.. =)

I'm using an LG optimus one, it seems the only way to fix the problem to uninstall and install the launcher again.
Are you still developing this app? I just found it last night and love it. I have one problem... Running sense based ROM and when I try to use this launcher it removes my gallery from my camera app. Any idea how to fix it?
This is a cool launcher. A couple of things I would suggest is to remember where you were in the drawer when you open it instead of always starting with the phone. Another thing is when you you launch an app from the home screen it doesnt go to where you left the app it goes to the start page.
Just a message to thank you for this really nice launcher. Il love it !!!
Just started using this launcher from Trebuchet, fast and simple.....loving it!!! Keep up the excellent work and keep it simple!
This launcher is really awesome, I don't know if it is caching or just optimization, but opening it after almost every app ( 512 mb RAM aren't so much if you use CM and lastest GApps... ) and finding it already ready is fantastic!
The only thing I'd like is a category-free old-fashion drawer. I really like the JB default one, with horizontal paginating and effects, and having it would be the best for me. I find really difficult to use categories, I like to swype between pages of apps and find them all. With even this choosable, my Home would be perfect and fast!

I am really liking the appearance and function of this launcher as well. I can not figure out how to add an XDA APP shortcut on the screen though. It just allows me to select the XDA APP from within the launcher but that one does not have my preferred forum start page saved, if you know what I mean. I have a galaxy S3 from verizon so that is the forum I would like to go to when I select the XDA APP. However, becuase it links from the App drawer and not a shortcut, I have to manually search for the verizon galaxy S3 everytime.
Am I missing something?
This is my favorite launcher. Im using pro and I love it.
*Gingerbread clock style is not enough in turkish language. Some of day names is not looking correct.
Great Launch
Just want to congratulate you for this app. It's really AWESOME. KISS rule at state of art.

Hi GinLemon
I am currently developing themes with multi launcher support. I was wondering if smart launcher supports or could support the feature of iconback, iconupon and iconmask. This would mean that icons we don't or haven't themed would still have a resemblance to the rest of the icons making the launcher/theme much more uniform.
I am testing this launcher on my no name $60 tablet this was bought as a worst case scenario device and it is working very well, I think I might keep it on here. Below are the specs of the device if it helps.

Name: Allwinner A13 @ 1.2Ghz
CPU Architecture: Cortex-A8

First things first, I obviously didn't create ADW Launcher or have any input in its creation and I am in no way affiliated with Ander Web, but after looking for a thread for it I was surprised to see there wasn't one. That's why I've created this thread.
Use this thread to discuss whatever you want about ADW launcher/EX and ask any questions you may have about it.
Visit the official ADW website - http://adwthings.com/launcher/
As per the information on the Play Store, if you need to send an email to the ADW support team, please use the following email address - [email protected]
ADW launcher is a highly customizable home replacement application.
¿What's a home replacement application?
Is an normal android application that will run when you press your android device's HOME key. It's what usually people know as the "android desktop".
¿What makes ADW different?
-It's compatible with android versions from 1.6 to 4.2.1!

ADW Launcher EX has been one of my favorite launchers. I have bought the Nove Launcher and used it but I went back to ADW Launcher because of the feature on having random animation effect on desktop.
ADW rocks. I don't see why people flock to Nova and Apex and totally disregard ADW most of the time.
Does ADW support per dock icon gestures yet? It has some neat features I like but my home screen configuration relies on that (currently using Holo Launcher Plus).
Ics and Jelly beans new widget chooser for Gingerbread?
I'm stuck on gingerbread 2.3.5 and I can not root, so Adw is as close to the Jellybean "look and feel" as I will probably get.

Is this an open source project? Looks like its not related to the CM ADWLauncher from 2.x versions...

Because there's a huge difference and only the first answer is mean.

I have asked this simple features on their thread and the answer is NO, they even release the Beta 10 and this simple feature has not been implement. Go Launcher has it as well as Next Launcher and also ADW EX. So ADW EX is the best launcher for me and really worth the money to spend on.
I been using the old layout adw ex the new ui to me is horrible.. I have a galaxy note 2 and going thru multiple screens to hit the selection... The old layout was and looks so much simpler and looks cleaner to me.. Yeh the new updates have some pretty nice features I like.. But overall the new ui terrible. Glad I saved a backup in titanium

I agree that the new UI isn't quite up to the original standards, but the new features make it worth it for me to use ADW over other launchers.
Remove Catalog
Good day,
Is there anyway to delete an existing group? I am running the latest version of ADW Ex and I cannot delete a group. The wiki states that there is a "remove catalog" button, but I cannot find it.

I found the answer. You must swipe the arrows near the group name.

Tinting icons seems to replace the whole icon with whatever color you chose, no matter the transparency of the color.
Has anybody found a way to fix it?
What's happening with ADW Launcher?
It's been 4 months since an update. The support mail box is full,
mail is being rejected - fatally.
Does anyone know what's happening with either the developer or
the software. Has the code been abandoned?
It is referred to as open-source. Anybody kow where the code is?
Is the code for ADW EX v2.3.3.8 (Feb 27, 2013) avaiable anywhere?
I am having trouble with widgets on Jellybean 4.1.1. It also crashes
at every boot up. I'm an old school s/w guy, but have never dealt with Android.
If no one else will and the code is available, I might have a go at it.
Since my initial post of this message, I found this:

Hey guys,
I want to show you my first app "Exquisite Drawer" which I have just released to Play Store.
You can get it right here:
Lite Version: Exquisite Drawer Lite
Pro Version: Exquisite Drawer Pro
You want to know which changes made it recently to the app?
Here you go. Changelog in Post #2
This app I wanna share with you is a replacement for your standard App Drawer.
Now you might think:
"What the heck? Nobody needs this since every phone has already an App Drawer"
Click to collapse
And you are right. But then. Go into your apps and look......
Does it look good? Really?
I don't think so. And this is the reason why I created Exquisite Drawer.
What is different with this app? Why would you want to download?
That's a good question. To answer this let me show you some screenshots:
From these Images you can get a lot of information what the app is able to do but I will list the main features here:
- Change Colors of Text and Background individually (so there is no dependency on other elements)
- Enable or Disable sertain UI Elements for your liking (such as Actionbar or Titlestrip)
- Change Textsizes
- Use system or inbuilt font
Also you have the ability to display two different images within Exquisite Drawer.
One on top of the Applist and the other below.
So every time you want to launch an app you will see your favourite image.
The best thing about this is that those images do not affect your workflow since they scroll out of view.
Another exciting Feature is the inbuilt Theme-Switcher. For now there are 6 different designs which can be applied by only one click. At the end of this Post you will see them all.
What else to mention?
The lite version is a stripped down version of the app.
But you get a bunch of features over there too:
- Theme Chooser
- Change background color of Titlestrip
- Change fontsize of Titlestrip
- Hide Applicationicons
- Hide Actionbar
- Enable/disable Headerimage and/or Footerimage
- Choose a custom picture
- Choose side of Navigationdrawer
What are the pro only features?
- Use a custom Font from your sd-card
- Change background and font color of Actionbar, Applist, Navigationdrawer
- Change Textsize of Applist and Navigationdrawer
- Disable various Itemdividers
When I say you can change the color you propably thing about a list of predefined Colors which you can choose from.
But this is not the truth.
Infact you can choose any color you can imagine.
This screenshot shows the Colorpicker:
The same for Fontsizechanger which can be choosen incrementally.
So this was a quite long post. And when you reach this point I wanna thank you. Now there are only some Images to come. At first you will see the whole bunch of settings which are available and after that you will see all of the available Designs.
I hope you like it.
Ocean Blue:
Red Fire:
Purple Rain:
Gaucous:
Soft:
Black 'n' White:
Here are the links again. Just for convenience:
Lite Version: Exquisite Drawer Lite
Pro Version: Exquisite Drawer Pro
Thank you so much for reading all of this. If you have suggestions, problems or other genereal feedback please feel free to comment to this post.
I will try to answer it as fast as possible.
Changelog
Version 1.5.7
- Two new Designs added "Xda Light" and "Xda Dark"
Older Changelog:

Thank you very much
ok having to write this all again cause it failed previously and message disappeared
anyways i wasn't really expecting anything special when i came here but was curious to see what it was about. so i decided to take it for a quick test drive and i must say im pretty impressed. even considering that it was just a lite version an all lol
the theme options are pretty cool even on their own. (pro allows more color/customizing of course). i was digging the simplistic black n white look too! also like the long hold app option that allows you to go pro, launch app, show app in play store and uninstall app. nice job there!! although i was slightly curious why purple rain & black n white theme didn't have these options?
overall was working smooth, don't remember coming across any bugs which is very good!! couldn't test battery life cause only used for a short period but im pretty sure it wouldn't have affected it much!
well want to say, keep doing what your doing dev! thumbs up from me!! :good:

Great app, keep up on the designs.
Really promising I like to keep my device nice and minimal looking and this does the trick nicely. Cant use it as my default just yet as I rely on custom groups and categories to organise my millions of apps. But it looks like thats on your to do list so keep up the good work. I'll be sure to keep checking back!

The mentioned two themes are in the new Update which I has released just this moment.
Hope you like it
What a fantastic app! Have to admit I wasn't sure what to expect, but I have to say it is awesome and I've already purchased the pro version. Well worth $1.30. I would've paid twice that. Very functional and visually impressive. Can't wait to see where the development goes in the future. Great, great job!

Thank all of you for your kind words.

This is definitively on my To Do list. But I actually don't know when it will be available. The next thing I am working on is to improve the overall performance and loading process. When this is ready for primetime I will implement new features such as:
- custom Categories
- hiding Apps (with a special feature )
- Exporting and Importing Designs
- Iconpack support
and many other things.
Thank you for your suggestion.
Also to everybody:
If you feel that anything is missing just write me. Also when you think that some strings should be improved just say something and I will look into it.
Really great. Thanks

Is there any way to make this the default drawer from the home screen when you push the app drawer button? Would quite like to give it a try with the Google Now launcher.
