i thought that i posted it in the wrong section.
excuse me because i'm asking help for something
Hi dont worry just flash gapps package .....google it and you should see a zip file call Gapps which contains all that you require, just flash as normal through clockwork mod by choosing install zip
But i use stock android and want to keep it that way.
Do i have to do the same?

Open a file manager (I know it works with ES File Explorer & and it doesn't work in Astro) and go to system/apps and find the youtube apk and reinstall it. Once you reboot your phone you will now see the youtube app in your apps drawer. This same method will also work for other apps that are showing as being installed that aren't showing up.
Yes. Works for me. I used root explorer. Thank you!

I fixed it with ep file explorer. Fix the youtube app

I flash roms a lot and there is something I need to find a fix for.
Once the flash is done I boot up and start initial phone setup menu. I have to sign into my google account at this stage obviously. So once that's done the first thing I want to do is restore my apps with titanium, so I go to the market for it, but the market straight away starts downloading ALL my apps at once when I only want TB to download. Only way to stop it is to go through the entire app list and cancel all the downloads, which takes a while. I cant let the downloads go ahead as it's far too many megabytes.
So I want a way to install TB without using the market. I've tried creating the update.zip in TB options and the zip does get created, but when I flash it from recovery it doesn't install.
Can I get the apk from somewhere and install it that way (I know you can push from cmd prompt although I've never tried it), and if so is there a way to do it on the phone only, as I often flash roms when I'm away from the computer.
When you enter your google credentials, it'll ask you if you want to back up your data. Uncheck it. Once your past that screen go into settings > privacy and assure automatic restore is unchecked.
The apks are in /data/app/ by the way.

I'm very familiar with these options. I always leave the option to backup to google ticked in case I ever need it (unlikely), but I always have auto' restore unticked, so I'm pretty sure that the automatic downloading of my apps is because the market app recognizes that I own them all when I sign in with my google account, and not because of auto' restore - but correct me if I'm wrong.
So how would I install TB using the apk. Does it have to be done with my computer? Is there another way. Root explorer would be great, but I'd have to install that the same way, which renders it useless in this particular case. What do all you experienced people do to get round this. Or do you just get through it the same way I do???
You can extract your TB using root explorer and save it on your sdcard. Sometimes its stored in /system/app or /data/app.
Usually roms come with a file explorer, so once you have a rom installed go to its file explorer and install your backed up TB. That's how I usually do it. Hope that helps.

markfavis,
you the man Your post helped me figure some stuff out. Your thanks meter just went up by a point.
I use ns_collab most of the time and I did not realise it came with root explorer preinstalled until you mentioned roms coming with a file manager. I did a bit of research and discovered root explorer is preinstalled with ns_collab. I never realised it was part of the rom as I already own root explorer so TB always restores my copy.
I've already made a copy of the TB apk files, so I reckon i've got this sorted for next time I flash a rom.
Just one more thing to check. The apk files I have backed up are:
com.keramidas.titaniumbackup-1.apk
and
com.keramidas.titaniumbackuppro-1.apk
Is this all I need to
I think you only need one of those files. One of em is the pro version. I only have one file and I install it like a regular apk file.

Hello all,
I did some searching around and couldn't find the answer. I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to pull the Phone.apk file from a CM build and use it in my rooted, but otherwise stock NS4G. The reason I want to is because CM's builds have a built-in blacklist app, that I want.
So what did was copy the Phone.apk from the latest nightly (22), and tried to installing it on my phone. It didn't work, and I just got the error 'application not installed'. And simply dropping it in the /system/app folder (overwriting the old phone.apk) didn't work either. I just got a lot FC's whenever I tried to open the call settings.
Is what I'm trying to do even possible, or am I barking up the wrong tree?
Well. Contacts.apk is the one you want. And yes it will work. But you have to be deodexed also.

Are you deodexed? If so flash this
http://droidfiles.us/downloads/mikeyinid/Transparent_Dialer.zip
Its transparent but its the CM dialer. You can grab the contacts.apk from CM if you want and put it in the .zip instead, I personally have had issues when using the one from cM, not the transparent one though.

Failed again. I tried flashing it from recovery and it just says 'installation aborted'. I am running the deodexed build of Gingerbread, that I got from Pete's site.
I use system app remover you can get it in the market. After you install it you will find a folder called /SystemAppBackup. Drag your cm apks and copy them to this folder. Open system app remover app, click the menu button, and press "restore app" choose your apps and boom. Rom manager doesn't always work for me on this phone even when you set permissions. This has worked for me. Hopefully it will bring you luck

Didnt work. System app remover let me copy the modified apk over but once I did I could no longer open the dialer (app is not installed on your phone error). So instead of messing around this, I'll just wait for CM to go final.

Recently rooted Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1. As of now I'm running Cyanogen Mod 10. Before that I was using Cyanogen Mod 9.0. However I've experienced the same issue with both roms. My favorite apps wouldnt open. However Google play store works so I figured its not my gapps.
1) Spotify- just shows a blank screen nothing else.
2) Evernote- not able to create the database file and tells me to restart the device and make sure my memory card isn't full.
3). Lecture Note- App needs a directory at the media/shared/external storage (SD card) to store the notebook.
So just by searching the forum and not seeing much on the topic, I figured I missed something in the process.
I don't use titanium backup and neither am I familiar with it. But if I have to learn then please tell me so.
I've always wiped before flashing roms.
I know CM 10 is a nightly and all that jive but I really like it. But without apps working then it is useless for me.
Oh and not sure if this is related but every download from a hyperlink on a web page results in a download unsuccessful.

May be try to reflash rom again latest nightly for your specific device + flash gapps jellybean not ics + full wipe after flashing those (wipe cash+wipe dalvik cash in advanced options)
If not working so try wipe data of apps you want in setting
If not so send messages to developers may be their apps not compatible with jellybean need update

Netflix
My device P5113 4.04 stock
I rooted using this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1657056 but now netflix will load up, and I go to play a video and load forever then i get error 11003(note netflix works fine on my phone/ps3).
Does any body know a fix for this?
The original reason i rooted was to attempt to move the notification bar to the top (i hate it at the bottom b/c I constantly hit buttons). So i tried to do this:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/18063-move-the-status-bar/
(1) download ES File Explorer
(2) go to settings and activate root explorer and mount r/w
(3) navigate to /system/
(4) click on build.prop and select "ES Note Editor"
(5) look for the line item called "ro.sf.lcd_density=160"
(6) edit it to read "ro.sf.lcd_density=161"
(7) exit and save the file
(8) reboot
Click to collapse
and I broke android(would not boot, go only a black screen) b/c i added this to the file, because i didn't find it, so i had to reinstall.
So my other question is is there anyway to move the status/notification bar to the top? Im about to go back to stock but, i will root again if i can fix netflix.
So I have a rooted GS3 running stock 4.1.2 and I flashed one of those inverted Google play store apps using twrp. Then when I rebooted my device for another reason and went into the play store, it said no connection even though my WiFi and 4g are both fine. I uninstalled all updates to the app, but then the play store would crash even when running in the background. So I found the latest version of the play store I could online, which was 4.0.2.5 which isn't the most recent. But now I still have the same no connection problem. Any solutions? I've also tried clearing data and cache from the app

This happened to me to me once, I fixed it by restoring a backup. I couldn't really figure out what was causing it. I know I messed it up by clearing data on system framework. But I have no idea how that messed it up.
You could just flash a custom rom and that will fix the issue. The problem is that the playstore is being updated constantly. Any Inverted playstore I have running ends up getting automatically updated to the most recent release anyways, so I just kind of gave up theming it. You probably installed an old version of playstore. The playstore must have some automatic connection protocol that enables it to automatically update without permission, and an old playstore might not allow that connection.
You might just be able to completely delete the playstore from your phone to install a recent one, but I have no idea if that would work. Someone has to know how to fix this without a restore or flashing a new rom.

That will work for sure, just have to find a custom rom you like. Your play store won't restore even if it's backed up through titanium. It's a good idea to have titanium anyway.
Never restore system data, only restore user apps + data. That's known to cause problems after a restore.

Are you new to flashing roms? Just make sure you do all the proper steps first.
Nandroid and unlock bootloader first.
factory reset, wipe cache and Dalvik cache, format system, then flash rom.
Follow the instructions on the roms page and you're good to go.

That is very strange, give it a shot, flashing a gapps package might work. I do think it's a problem with the Google apps though, so your play store is working right? I think all you need now is let the play store auto update. Maybe there's a way to force it. That should allow the rest of your apps to work.

so if anybody having this problem again
i get mine fixed by doing this :
1. Open any file explorer that have root access
2. Search for a folder named "system" and then look for a folder that says "etc"
3. Inside "etc" folder search for a file that says "host" . edit that text using any text editor
4. Delete everything in the host file
5. Save
I ended up fixing it by flashing another rom, using titanium backup to copy the play store. and then reflashed back to the original rom I was using and then restored with copy of the play store i previously had.

Use any Explorer( Solid Explorer recommended), go to /data search for that app(say facebook) related files and delete all files you find. Main file that is needed to be deleted is .odex file of that app.
for instance if whatsapp in not getting installed, then files like com.whatsapp.odex , com.whatsapp.apk and all other files related to whatsapp are needed to be deleted.
Install the app again then. It should get installed
If this doesnt solves the problem then you need to do factory reset.

I can confirm this after I've had this problem on both SGS2 and SGS4. The path is root/data/app, though, where you will find the .odex file of your and possibly other apps as the last entries.
