Does anyone know how much it will cost to repair? Ball park figure? Any recommendations?
If you're thinking of doing it yourself, you might wanna think again. HTC made it real hard to replace the LCD on this phone.

Im not sure but you might be better off buying a used Inspire.
Theres a whole process before you actually get to the LCD panel.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfatoeWbMRk go to about 7:33 in the video to see what it takes to remove it.
HTC build their phones like crap full of plastic tabs and intricacy, i wouldn't waste my time in fixing a HTC too many taped and glue parts, seems like it was put together by macgyver.
While i can easily swap the LCD in an iphone 4 in about 30 min, the time invested in a htc phone is just not worth it, plus the worst part is they glue the glass to the digitizer, so prepare to use a heatgun to peel off the broken glass off the lcd without damaging the LCD because i'm sure the glass won't come off in one piece since its cracked.
If i was you i'd toss it on ebay and let someone else deal with it.
Really? Does htc really build crappy phones?

Yeah seriously! Never knew our phones are mostly held together with tape and double sided tape and what... only 6 screws? But overall the phone does feel solid.

Seriously, go away to iphone-developers, iFanboy.
Also, excluding the original iPhone, Apple glues the LCD to the glass as well.

I'm just putting the iphone as an example I like fixing phones for hobby and not only iphones. Seriously how many phones have you taken apart?
For instance samsungs molding process is better than that of htc very clean when taking it appart. I was just giving an advice to op and your htc fanboism is not necessary.

*If your Phone is under warranty and it has a few scratches, you've got a great chance of getting it replaced for free or for cheap .
Sent from my GT-S5360 using xda app-developers app
if under warranty like sprint replacement insurance they will replace if its damaged or stolen as long as you pay deductible...
if you dont want to do that or dont have a warranty... you can go to ebay search your phone and get the digitizer/glass. you wont need lcd part unless you break it in the process. i found most phones easy to repair just take the time to take it apart and look up a guide on youtube or google. be careful because phones like the iphone have ribbons that they WANT customers to damage and make it fragile so that they can make more money.
apple is only company i heard of that actually has its charges for repair based on model size (ie 32gb vs 64gb)... or maybe they stopped doing this... doubt it tho...
You can't really "remove" it (in the sense of restoring it to how it was before - but I'm sure you knew that), just make it less noticeable. Methods to "remove" scratches rely on either only the coating being scratched (and being able to abrade it to be more even) or being able to "fill in" the scratch with something.
You have to be careful, if your device has any kind of special coating on it, certain methods can actually make it look worse - so check that out before you try anything.
You can possibly replace the glass, but look up what you have to do to separate the glass from the digitizer - it can be a royal pain. Was thinking of repairing a phone this way to get one cheap, but it was such a fuss that I decided to spend more on a not-broken one. Might be worth it to you if it bothers you enough and you get a screen protector after going through with that hassle.
Screen protectors 4 lyfe.

Unfortunately it is no longer under warranty. Also if I shipped it out, this is my only phone so I don't know what I'd do in the mean time. I have a Galaxy Nexus if that helps at all
I was hoping someone knew of some sort of polish or DIY sort of thing I could do to make it a little less noticeable. Maybe I just need to try that toothpaste trick. After all, how much damage can toothpaste do to a phone?

I'm not sure how much the scratch is really bothering you, but I have managed to resurface a couple of my touchscreen devices, and it works more often than not. It's a product called Diamondite and it's intended for automotive applications, but it has worked wonders for me on glossy screens of my tablets and smartphones. It's a cream abrasive that you apply and then buff off to a shine. Just from experience, following the application of it, it would be wise to invest in a screen protector....

You can get this great stuff from eBay, it's a spray and you spray it on and rub with the cloth provided, makes it look like new!
Hello, well I drop my infuse last week and crack just the glass. A guy I know that works at a cell phone repair store sold me a $10 glass for my phone. Well I've started reading and they say that the glass and LCD are fuse together. Is there away to just repair the glass. I thought maybe taking my hot knife and carefully cutting just around the edge and then take a long thin boxcutter ( I've got one as long as the phone and it really thin) and heating up the blade and very carefully slide down while my girlfriend runs a hair blower up and down the screen.
I thought I take the blade and my hot gluegun and make some grips on the sides of the razor blade so I don't cut my hand. What do you guys think of this.
If you know of someone that has done it and can give me there names so I can PM them that be great. One thing thought I don't wont to mess the phone up. This is all I have until the SG4 comes out in the states. Which should be in a few days but I've got to wait until after the 3rd to be able to pay for it. Thanks for reading this.
By the way, could they do it at a cellphone store or would they also need to buy the LCD digitizer to fix it.
Google is your friend in this matter. There are several good sites and YouTube videos related to replacing a screen readily available online. Best of luck in replacing it

If you just cracked the glass and see no bleeding from the LCD you can just replace the glass but its a pain in the ass separating it from the LCD without cracking it. My suggestion is to use a really hot blow dryer or a heat gun preferably..separate them, then you'll have to re-adhere the new glass to the LCD. If you have super glue you can use it but use very very little or you'll ruin the screen. I would recommend buying an infuse specific glass replacement adhesive sticker thing on eBay. They're less than 5 bucks  if you need any help feel free to pm me.

What about using a real thin guitar string. You think that might be better to use since the string will give a little and with the razor it might nic the LCD. What do you guys think.

Hello,
I dropped my Nexus 4 and caused damage to the screen. There is a crack in the glass on the bottom half which causes touch not to work, but the top half is fully functional. Do I need to purchase a new screen and digitizer or just the screen?
I'm from Canada, so where is the best place to buy parts online?
Thanks

As I know since the touch doesn't work on bottom then you need digitizer.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
The Top Glass is the Digitizer. You will need the LCD+Digitizer set. DO NOT order just the Digitizer glass. It is for Expert Techs ONLY. The Glass and LCD are fused together and requires very careful disassembly. I highly recommend getting the 3 piece Digitizer+LCD+Frame set as that is a quick swap of the Parts that takes about 15Min total. The Glass is glued with an RTV Silicon Adhesive type on the frame (They use the RTV adhesive on the Back cover glass too) and is annoying to remove as Heat doesn't work as well as the normal adhesive most companies use. Plus there is a chance you could scratch up the frame trying to remove the glass shards (and there WILL be shards.) I have done this replacement before on both the Front and Back Glass and it wasn't fun. Just save yourself the frustration and get the 3 piece set. You'll thank me for it.

Nexus 4 of course.
Again I highly reccomend getting the 3 piece with the Frame+LCD+Glass a 1 unit. You can sell the broken one on Ebay and get a few $ back that way. The swap out from that point is VERY easy and Quick. Youtube it or go to http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Nexus+4+Teardown/11781/1
All you are doing is a swap of the MB, USB Port, Cameras, Battery and the Switches. It is really easy and quick and requires very little skill. If you DO NOT get the 3 piece set and just the Glass+LCD then it's more difficult.
AGAIN! ANYONE who needs to replace the glass just get the 3 piece set. Follow the Dissassembly Guide (only need 2 tools a PLASTIC Pry tool and a #00 Phillips Screwdriver) I posted above. I know this is just me repeating my previous post above but I just wanted to stress this as there are sales out that sell JUST the Glass and getting just the glass will be a waste of money. There is also the Glass + LCD set but again 99.999999999% of people have neither the skill and/or the tools to separate the Broken glass from the Frame let alone the LCD itself. The glass has a Silicon Adhesive which resists heat (if you've worked on cars you know how fun RTV is, imagine it on Delicate electronics) and makes it hard to remove.

Hello!
First, sorry to open such an old thread, but I just try to follow XDA rules. And this one match most for what I'm looking for.
On my wifes Nexus 4, after she dropped it, touch screen stop to responce at about 1 cm wide stripe from bottom to top. Everything else is ok, glass is not broken. I'm asking if there is also necessary to find 3 piece set or I could manage to fix it with this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LCD-Display...317?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e9850f8ed

That part doesn't include the bezel. When you disassemble the phone, the entire front assembly includes the bezel and screen assembly. With that part, you would have to remove the screen assembly from the original bezel, then adhere the new one in. It's doabable, but a bit of a PITA, especially if you don't have a heat gun to soften the original glue. For about $60 you can get the entire front, including the bezel (brand new, without dings in the chrome) and save yourself a huge hassle.

I've smashed mine twice since november, today being the second time. 1st time it was in its flip cover case. This time, I took out of its case to lie in bed with it (cover gets in the way when you're on your back), went to the bathroom, fell out of my hands, 2 feet drop. Smashed again.
I have the Flip Cover, Otter Box Defender, now ordered the Incipio Leather Folio 2 in 1 and the Incipio Dual.
Figured if I had options I'd keep a good case on it constantly. Lucky I have insurance for it, 120$ deductable. I've reached my 2 claim max for the year though...
Most ...Fragile phone...ever...
I'm still getting a G2. Samsung uses versions of LED screens which have some chance of burn in, ghost images.
LG g2 is LCD. Yes there's a chance of dead pixel but I would rather take my chance with that instead.
Besides, LCD is easier to see on sunlight.
Unfortunately, Camera has stopped.

I dont use a case for my LG 4X HD. I have dropped it many times, no cracks. It depends on the build quality, weight, the way it fell and so on.
I find cases ugly and unnecessary.

Thats not entirely true. Unless you wont change your phone in 2 years, the chance of getting burn ins is low. Be careful with LG,they have a tendency to drop phone support ASAP.
My fathers G2 was put in a spigein slimarmor case before the sales rep even set it up. Last month his digitizer was going wokners, had a slight nick in the case that pressed stuff together. Took it to the sprint store, and the reps replaced the front of screen on the spot without even having to do a warranty claim.that LG glass is super thin, too thin in my opinion which is also the reason I will never buy the flex
i dropped my g2 more than 3 times luckily no damage. i dont have any cases.

Screen just cracked after about a week of use -__- But I know many people with really good experience with this device, so it really depend of how lucky you are )

Spare parts
Hi Y´all.
Actually i don´t think it´s totally impossible to make the repair yourself.
What i haven´t been able to locate is a source of spare parts.
Ebay seems to be void of parts for this tablet.
I found a place that advertised for a front glass for the SM-P900. My -905 search though has been a total failure.
Can´t remember where i saw the -900 front glass.
Even a battery seems to be a very tall order.
I love my new tablet, but i dread the day when i´ll need spare parts. Saw somewhere that tablets have a slower turnaround i.e. people keep them for longer.
Runs nicely i thread with my own intentions to keep my -905 for at least 3 years - longer if possible. Then battery replacement could very well be an issue.
Regards
Elo

This. I've been to the repair centers, I've seen how they sit in white suits with face masks scraping off the glue for hours before they can replace the screen. Masks, because the glue is semi-toxic. (this kind of heavy-duty glue usually is.)
