I got a problem with my captivate. I was texting with a cousin and I accidentally deleted the thread. Right after that he sent me another message. I tried to go to it from the notifications thing and it took me to create a new message instead of starting a new thread. Now every time I send or receive a message I keep getting the notification for that weird message even though I clear it every time. I even get a notification for it when I open up any messages thread. Don't know what to do.

are you using stock messaging or voice/handcent/chomp
Try clearing your cache for the messaging app. If that doesn't work you might have to do a factory reset
I'm using the stock messaging application. How do I clear the cache? I wanna try that first before master reset.

Or u can try powering off.

I tried all the above. Maybe its a network issue?

Symptoms:
Receive a MMS picture message and the picture does not show (though it initially downloads the image). Under the stock messaging app, there is nothing. Under the Handscent app, it says "unable to display content" when there is no text. If there is text it shows the text conversation. I can however, under Handscent go into the menu/more/save mms and see the image there. I can send MMS picture messages just fine.
Setup:
CM9 Nightlies
I have tried wiping and resetting all the app cache, phone cache, etc. I have played around with the APN settings. Yes, for those that yell about searching the forums; I have been working on this for several days and nothing in the lists have resolved my problem.
Any thoughts on this issue?
Do you have the stock messaging app frozen or disabled? I had a similar issue and resolved it by unfreezing/"thawing" in TB and enabling, then just turning off notifications in the stock app settings so it doesn't duplicate the notification since you're using a different SMS/MMS app.

Thanks! I froze then defrosted the default app and now it works. I have spent way too many hours trying more complicated solutions. Thanks again!
Does this apply if i'm using only the stock app too?

It should. My understanding is that by freeze/defrost, you reset the application locks or something to that effect. It doesn't hurt to try it and see how it works.
First, it sometimes sends me to the wrong place.
Second and worst of all, my navigation lady keeps saying the same thing over and over "turn right to xxxx and exit at xxxx" doesn't matter where i am going or how far away i am from home. But.the navigation map will show the right path/direction/way (most of the time) just the voice keeps looping on the same message.
I am on stock ICS. I've tried reboot, deleting and reinstalling the app, refresh, wipe cache, etc. anybody has this issue and knows how to fix, it gets really annoying?

ugh! would doing this increase my flash counter? i am pretty ok with my stock ics (debloated)... this is just annoying if anything.

Try clearing data from google services frameworks and data and cache from maps. Not sure it will work but it's worth a shot.

The same problem happened to me from time to time -- and it might come back again when I update my ROM. Clearing cache and clearing data for Maps was enough to get rid of the problem. No need to re-flash the entire ROM.
- First stop Maps in your Android system (System settings > Apps > All > Maps then click Force stop);
- Then clear cache
- Finally, clear data;
- Try again loading Maps/Navigation and ask it to drive you somewhere. Ear if the voice is still stuck on the same Turn right on main street...
If the problem persists after trying to clear data and cache, clear all /cache partition and Dalvik's cache in recovery.
Are you using TiBu?

Out of curiosity are you using TiBu, and did you let it reboot your phone on a schedule?
I ask because I have seen this same exact problem. The problem appeared to stem from a scheduled job within TiBu that would clear cache and reboot during the night. I killed that job, and then I no longer had the problem. However, I later went back and set up a different job to move apps to internal memory and then reboot. Once again the problem returned. I have since disabled all jobs that reboot the device, and all is good for me now.
Sign out of Google maps first...

I've heard that for persistent problems like yours that you need to sign out of maps and latitude, then clear the maps caches and data in both, then re-download ur maps updates from the play store. Latitude is known to hold onto a lot of the bad data and then re-communicates it back to maps.

hi, i use tibu only to manually back up and delete apps. beyond that I have not used the tibu any other way (i don't know how and have not had the chance to learn) however, i might check it too in case i toggled something that i should not have without knowing.

Anyone have any clues? I even wiped and factory reset. I think it started again afrer I downloaded some apps from the market.

Over the last two months, I have not been receiving all of my text messages. In some cases, when I am looking at my phone, I see the message come in the status bar, but then it disappears and is not listed in any messaging app. I have uninstalled third party apps and have factory data reset my phone, but the issue randomly persists. Motorola had me put the phone in Safe Mode, but since this happens randomly, I cannot walk around with the phone for a week in Safe Mode. Has anyone else experienced this? Is their a fix?
By any chance... Are you using the SMS popup app? This app is causing some people to loose some texts.

No. I had been using Glowfly and NotifierPro, but uninstalled them. I lose messages even with no third party messaging apps installed.
