I got a problem with my captivate. I was texting with a cousin and I accidentally deleted the thread. Right after that he sent me another message. I tried to go to it from the notifications thing and it took me to create a new message instead of starting a new thread. Now every time I send or receive a message I keep getting the notification for that weird message even though I clear it every time. I even get a notification for it when I open up any messages thread. Don't know what to do.

are you using stock messaging or voice/handcent/chomp
Try clearing your cache for the messaging app. If that doesn't work you might have to do a factory reset
I'm using the stock messaging application. How do I clear the cache? I wanna try that first before master reset.

My messages show that I have one unread, but I've read all of them. I've tried to FC messages to see if this would clear it, no go. Rechecked all of my messages to see if I missed one, still didn't go away. Not sure how to get rid of this. Anyone else encounter something similar?
Settings, applications, managing applications, all tab, messaging, clear data or clear cache. I forget which.

Clear data did it. I was hesitant to do it because I didn't want to lose my text messages, but it didn't affect my texts at all. Thanks.
I have quit using the stock app for this reason and am now using handcent

Whenever I open up my text messages I receive a notification in the notification bar saying "message not sent select to review the message". I have tried everything, cleared the data for messaging, and numerous reboots. Has anyone else been having this problem? Everytime I open messaging I see this by the way.

What rom are you running? I know I was having some problems not receiving MMS pictures on H57. I flashed the EE19 leaked fix and everything is working now.

for the memory problem you could try
1) FOTA fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=10650182) use sdpartition + link2sd to move apps that dont support app2sd http://http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1121466
You can get rid of visual voicemail through Titanium.
if you flash a rom that has it built in, just remove the vvm apk.
Thanks. )).

I suggest not to remove visual voicemail. you can move it to your SD Card using Titanium backup. Visual voicemail has the Voicemail notification in it. you will not recieve any notification whenever someone leaves you a voicemail.
One more thing.... I dont really use wifi calling but it keeps popping up every time i connect to a hotspot. I tried deleting it from the root folder, and it just killed my phone and i had to reflash... Any tips?

what do you mean it killed your phone? It will go into a force close look when you delete the APK, but upon reboot, it works fine...or it has for me the 10 or so times I have deleted the APK...oh yeah, and if you get the force close, you don't have to pull the battery, just lock the phone, then hit the power button (but don't swipe to unlock), and shut down from there.

Symptoms:
Receive a MMS picture message and the picture does not show (though it initially downloads the image). Under the stock messaging app, there is nothing. Under the Handscent app, it says "unable to display content" when there is no text. If there is text it shows the text conversation. I can however, under Handscent go into the menu/more/save mms and see the image there. I can send MMS picture messages just fine.
Setup:
CM9 Nightlies
I have tried wiping and resetting all the app cache, phone cache, etc. I have played around with the APN settings. Yes, for those that yell about searching the forums; I have been working on this for several days and nothing in the lists have resolved my problem.
Any thoughts on this issue?
Do you have the stock messaging app frozen or disabled? I had a similar issue and resolved it by unfreezing/"thawing" in TB and enabling, then just turning off notifications in the stock app settings so it doesn't duplicate the notification since you're using a different SMS/MMS app.

Thanks! I froze then defrosted the default app and now it works. I have spent way too many hours trying more complicated solutions. Thanks again!
Does this apply if i'm using only the stock app too?

It should. My understanding is that by freeze/defrost, you reset the application locks or something to that effect. It doesn't hurt to try it and see how it works.
So judt recently my messaging app has started to crash. I used verizon messages and it said device low on memory and constantly crashed.
My text messages in handcent and the default messaging app don't even show up sometimes.
Any thoughts? Thanks
