No roms are made yet, you have to wait

(Soup nazi voice) No roms for you!

Wow this has to be one of the laziest questions I've seen posted yet. Dude....don't be a douche. Do a little homework.
No roms yet. You can root, and use the fota hack to increase memory size.
Many thanks to the dev and people working on SGS4G.

It only takes one person to respond to a post like this. The more you all respond the more it stays on top of forums. No responses = it funneling down to the bottom.

What do we need to get a gingerbread rom

Im fairly new to this section of the forums most of my hangout is on the Gtablet side. But what is needed to get this phone up to gingerbread? What are we lacking?
ohhh please...
sent from sgs4g
Not getting the sarcasm here? I asked a simple question which is not anywhere in this development forum I searched. The Gtab came with 2.2 and has successfully been updated to 2.3 and they are now working on a honeycomb port missing on a few things atm. Whats holding the s4g back?
I believe people are going to get upset with you posting this here.
We are missing the neccesary files from Samsung.

Not understanding that we have the source from samsung but we are still missing what is required. Why would people seriously get mad?

That and questions belong in the general section. It helps keep the dev section clean.
Thanks

From a development point... What is still needed to get this ball rolling? I think the question is appropriate for the development section as its not "who is working on gb" or "is CM coming".
Definetly should be in the general section, but the main thing were missing is a final version of CWM and the devs, the ones we have are great but there time is consumed doing other things. I assume its going to be a while before we get any good roms
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
Just to add I don't think anyone is working on froyo roms much less gb. Point of this story is if you want custom roms ditch this phone
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
There is no GB development, because there are almost no developers for this phone.
The two active developers don't even have a SGS 4g (well, krylon has a loaner)....
I thought the biggest reason would be that we have no gingerbread updated from Samsung that are compatible with our phone. In order to get gingerbread right now, we would have to port over one from another Samsung device and then make it compatible with ours. Which isn't easy at all from my understanding.
That being said, we do have a small community.

Understandable, but we dont need a source from samsung for gingerbread. Gtab devs made a GB rom without anything being compatible and are moving to honeycomb with out official support from nvidia or viewsong for either of these roms.
I guess Ill get back to working with the cyanogen I have now to start tweaking but CWM is working on my phone at least.

This is not to flame you, but any questions like this shouldn't be asked in development. It clutters the development forum. It needs to be posted in the "General" section.
This question has been asked there several times as well.
#1 Getting GB to work on any samsung phone currently is a monster of a task. Just read up on the nightlies that CyanogenMod is putting out now for the Captivate. Android 2.3.4 via CM 7 running on Captivate.
#2 The SGS4G is more similar to the Epic 4G than the Vibrant. That being said read what was said from ciwrl (CM Dev Team): "epic is slated for last…its full of nasty hacks"
Hope that answers your questions. Please post in General next time.
Are there even any ROMs out there for this phone? Is there even a CyanogenMod?

None at the moment. CWM is priority number one with the current Devs, although a few other mods coming out.
It hardly seems priority. Krylon put it on hold for Bionix and whatever project he's on now

For one, you have no idea what is going on.
For two, comments like that don't make any dev work faster. Devs have NO obligation to help the masses. Why piss off some one that is helping? Because your impatient? Relax bud. When its done its done. ;-)

[Q] [Request] WP7 Keyboard for Nexus S I9020T

Hello,
I have no development experience so I'd like to make a request. I have a keyboard APK that's apparently designed to work with Froyo but I'd like to use it on my Nexus S. It's a WP7 style keyboard. I will attach it and request that anyone who knows how please try and make it work with 2.3.4 on the I9020T.
Thanks to anyone that helps me out, I really appreciate it.
+1 I'd love this

I think you guys are in the wrong section. This section is for the sprint CDMA Nexus but I don't think a keyboard mod would matter. Just see the I9020T in the title.

okay? cool. i quoted the op
This amazes me. I've got basic development skill and would never just blindly "ask" for stuff. "Hey nerds! Make me this." (I'm a nerd myself, calm down). I'm at the whim of the developers and can't thank you guys enough for what you do. Off topic. Had to be said though.
Try it yourself dood, then ask for help. That's what these forums are for. Ill beta test anything till the cows come home.

New member

Hello all,
This is simply an introduction.
I've had my Galaxy S since May, yes first android, and XDA has been THE most visited/read site! (In all actuality this site is the reason that I still have my phone.)
I have learned so much that I feel indebted to this site and the developers that make this site what it is...
Though I would like to thank everyone by name... I just don't know them all, and they are many.
As smart as this community is as a whole, I'm certain you all know who I'm talking about...
So, from the bottom of my bionix black ice; bali 3.1uv; fugu + init.d7; oc'd to 1.5; ext4; bloat free Samsung Galaxy S 4g... THANK YOU ALL!!

Agreed this is the best place around. Also it helps that's most devs here are ahead of the game and the first to get anything android working
my wife vibrant lol which is better b/c of me...
Welcome to XDA!! This is a great site, I find myself checking up on it everyday~

I have to say that this site along with my own experimenting has made me VERY familiar with odin. My phone performs so much better now because of the people here and there is always someone there ready to help when something does not go as planned. Thank you for this.

There's no reason for this to be in the dev section.
Well this is quite the "development"
Seriously, this is the worst post I have seen on xda since I started checking the website.
Like a 5 for name creativity, brought down to a zero for posting it in the dev section.
What is it anyway? A play on "Frankenstein"? "Franks n beans"?
C'Mon son.
This website needs dedicated mods that scope the forums and will delete these threads. Quick.

You guys make me laugh......yeah yeah yeah. I admit it was probably the wrong place.
I figured i would go ahead and use my FNG card. I had to make a comment at some point that would bring out the aristocrat rom snobs. Was it at least a 5 on a scale of 5?
Anyways, I thought it would be neat if we could have an area where everyone could post what a good rom name could be. Then we would all vote on a couple.
Maybe its a horrible idea, but i thought i would bring it up.
A way to kill the time before a new rom comes out. ( not that i am complaining, the roms and kernels have been great!)
Move the thread or delete it. I dont care. I think i will go cry now. Haha.

Mod request

Hey my friend pointed out that they split the themes and apps section into two separate ones on the epic forums. I think that would be appreciated here also

Yes, this was done in the epic 4g forums. IMO its much cleaner, I know, atleast with the epic, there is about just as many apps as there is themes so it gets awfully cluttered and gets difficult to find thing.

They are trying something similar with sgs2 development forums. I definitely think it would help clean things up and hopefully stop a few needless questions

To be honest I am nit sure why there is an apps section for every device anyway. We have an android app section that I beleice should hold all the android apps. Mostly due to them being universal with the exception of a small few. It is being looked into
Great request. And yes, it can get cluttered.
