I heard that if i root my HTC inspire i can view videos and photos on tv using micro usb to hdmi cable ??? is this true??
also is there any apps that can help duplicate the HTC screen on tv using hdmi or regular RCA cable???? i used to have this option on my captivate.
I'm willing to pay $20 for such an app .
I had a similar question a while back when I wanted to know if there was a way to get a cradle that had speakers from the charging port and d was told that there was no way to get any audio or video out of the micro USB port. Only charging/syncing. If you find out different, that would be good news. But I wouldn't expect it.

i have a burning question for all of you android/HTC experts out there....please help me
i intend to buy the sensation but i want to know:will i be able to connect it to a tv ?
the problem in my case is that my tv (and in fact none of those i could have access to) has a hdmi (or usb) port.
Therefore the only remaining option would be through a RCA cable.
I found on ebay a rca- usb cable... no boxes no nothing ...just the wire and the connectors...price about 5 $.. (i'm sorry i cant post the link.....)
will it work?
why not? i know rca is analog and usb is digital... hence my dilemma
i also know the sensation can do TV-out via MHL A/V link, but MHL is only going to work on the latest types of tvs....right?

It will work on any lcd or led tv which has a hdmi port(and as u stated ur tv has one),so it will definately work, normal hdmi cable or the cable which u have mentioned will not work, the official hdmi cable including mhl adaptor is available here:
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/htc-sensation-mhl-hdmi-out-cable-ac-m490-p29367.htm?referer=aff_aw_102463
Regards....
sorry i meant to say my tv does not have hdmi or usb...
so i guess i'll have to do without....
thanks though....
So there is absolutely nothing i could do to connect the sensation to a tv using rca conectors????
nothing money could buy??
Since HDMI is digital and RCA is analog, you would need a converter box. Something like this could do it:
http://www.amazon.com/HDMI-Composite-S-Video-Converter-3RCA/dp/B0047PDBP0
thank you very much.....
Hi,
Does anyone know if I can use this cable on amazon.com:
/HTC-Cable-ADR6300-Vision-Composite/dp/B003Z6Q1DG
with the HTC Sensation?
I know that the Sensation has MHL and the adapter that I am supposed to buy is this one:
/OEM-HTC-HDMI-Adapter-Sensation/dp/B005E5MPBS
but I want to connect this to the headrest mounted TV's in my car and they don't have HDMI inputs. I am trying to avoid buying an HDMI to composite converter, and a power inverter as well...
Any other ideas/ suggestions?
I'm bumping this because I would like to know the same.
Dude check out the 1 start comments... There are 3 HTC Sensation users who have clearly mentioned that it doesn't work with Sensation.. So don't but it..
Hey
Once again probly a stupid question but is there any phone that can basically directly display onto a TV or similar. Kind of like a video output on a PlayStation/DVD etc. Not USB mass storage.
I want to view my screen on the tv .
Thanks.
P.s hope I put it in the right forum

There are a few phones with HDMI outputs, if you search wikipedia there is a list of phones with features.
The Galaxy Nexus has a HDMI out combined with its micro USB port, to connect it to a TV you would need a MHL connector. You could probably get one off ebay or amazon, or just a phone shop.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc also has a HDMI connector.
galaxy note also can use a MHL connector
Cheers people. I was more curious as to whether it could be done but now I know its that easy I'll have to give it a go.
Thanks for the input everyone

Hello,
So I know there has been couple threads in regards to MHL's before but none answered my question...
I went ahead and bought a MHL connector yesterday, tried hooking it in to my flatscreen with new HDMI cable I also bought at the same time, all from frys electronics. I had seen pictures of that MHL connector on multiple post stating it works so I sure figured it would for me. But for some reason I was unable to get mine to work.
I have tried
rebooting the phone (with and without mhl plugged in)
giving the phone a full charge before trying it.
plugging power output to laptop or wall (laptop is closer than wall but either way none worked)
but at no time did I get a response from my phone or tv other than it charging my phone? I am understanding that when I plug it in to the MHL I should have a new icon popping up on the top of my screen but it's not
I am currently running zydroid latest rom 2.0 (great rom by the way)
Is anyone else having such issue or can anyone assist me in this regard. Or even better yet, anyone with zydroid rom able to assist me?
Thanks a bunch
I'm on stock but I have one that is made by Samsung? I've heard of knock off ones not working with phones but I guess that's people's own experience....And with my mhl converter to hdmi it has to have my phone charger connected directly to the converter while the other end of mhl converter connects to my phone. It's a mess of cords but it works....I've tried others and this is the best one that works with my galaxy s2 and sensation. I bought mine on amazon for like 13 bucks.....try searching Samsung mhl to hdmi ....hope u figure it out.

I figured it out... turned out to be the MHL was defective, Thanks bud
HTC One S MHL Connection
I have the OEM HTC Sensation MHL adapter and it works perfectly on the HTC ONE S.
You can also buy the MHL adapter from monoprice.com which works and offers 7.2 audio.
Does anyone know if the s5 has video out on the braphone jack like old galaxy s devices?
I need a solution to get composite audio and video to a projector. Projector has DVI / svideo / composite/ VGA.
Any ideas? I have seen mhl to hdmi which are cheap but then I would have to convert to dvi and loose audio and run a separate cable.
No but there is MHL to VGA adapters you can buy from eBay etc.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/400785524940
But that's audio only.
I found thus that might do the trick and doesn't need any external power.

Oh actually just looked again and there's an audio out socket on the aide of the VGA.

Says in the description you get video but you can't get audio out of that using S3/4/5 etc. Probably because of the newer MHL standard.
Perhaps they mean on the older phones? The description says AV cable. The A standing for audio and V standing for video. If it doesn't do audio then the item is not as described. I have just queried this with him. You can't have a title saying AV then in the last line if the small print say doesn't support audio.
Does that mean that the mhl to HDMI doesn't carry audio either?

It means it works with audio and video on older devices using the original MHL, but S3/4/5 etc use MHL2.0 with different pinout and that's why you need an adapter, but maybe something about that RCA cable can't use the audio for whatever reason.
But as long as you use that little adapter you can use any MHL to HDMI with audio.
Just checked my MHL version is 2.1 hopefully they will clear it up. If that is the case can't I just use audio out the headphone jack and video from the mhl phonos? Pain in th ass from a wiring point if view but should still work.

Yeah that'll work but audio quality won't be as good, but I guess it's the only way unless you buy a HDMI to RCA converter, but that means plugging 2 separate adapters into the phone and even more hassle.
Yeah plus I already bought that cable haha.
Your right its a massive hassle, I just gave away my iphone as well which was dead easy to connect via RCA, add that to my unable to swap extSD with inSD on kitkat problem and im starting to wish i hadnt bothered with the S5 now.
just bought Monoprice mhl vga converter which is supposed to be 100% compatible but can't connect... nothing happens,.. no sound, no error, just nothing. installed the Rom with stock kernel (thought that might be an issue (since I was running on Twi5ted Lollipop Rom with a custom kernel... same result, while my wife on her htc one m7 running a custom ROM too had no problem... just connect and enjoy... i'm at a loss... anyone here got an advice? thanx.
Galaxy S5 G900F... stock kernel.
I got an MHL converter in the end as well and it works great, you need to plug your charge cable into it as well at the same time to get it to work.
