Tesla Coil ROM hotspot issue - Thunderbolt General

Hi, I know this is the wrong forum for this, but I couldn't post in the dev forums due to not posting enough...
Since installing Tesla Coil rom 1.2, when I attempt to change the settings for my hotspot feature, it crashes settings and I must force close it.
I'm running Tesla Coil 1.2, as I said, and Adryn's 4.1b kernel. Other than that, I've seen no issues.
Any ideas on what I can do to resolve this?

I've been keeping my eye on the Tesla Coil thread. Someone complained of the same issue. I'm not sure if a fix has been found. Try searching that thread to see if there is an update.
Have you tried using the Wireless Tether app in the market?

Please post rom specific issues in the related rom thread. Thanks!

wireless tether seems to work... shame, as its such an ugly app.
thanks for the help.

I'd love to post in the rom thread if i could.... If you would've read my post, you'd notice I apologized, but I don't have enough posts to do so....

delete this post
Delete please, wrong place

Pretty sure this belongs in the questions and answers thread as he had a question and you all had answers lol.

[Q] Wanting to Report a bug to the developer of a ROM

I just installed RandomKing's "ThunderHawk III Final" rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1343669
I noticed I have a bug with my wireless not working, and wanted to report that, but apparently the forum prevents new users from posting to development threads. Must I really make 10 random posts just so I can do that? (I realize I may be able to PM RandomKing directly, but I figure it'd be good for other users to also be aware of what bugs are out there for these roms ...)
I guess I'm a little annoyed at being prevented from doing something that I considered "good" for the community ...

Did you read threw the thread to see if others had this issue? What did you do to try and fix it? Did you look in the Q&A forums in your device forums?

Yeah, I read through the tread, and as far as I can tell, the bug's been persistent through several versions of the rom. It was claimed that it was fixed with his latest version, but I guess not ...
The only fix I had found was to reboot the phone Today, the "app" to make calls (I think it's called "phone?") crashed several times, meaning I can't call people reliably, so I think I'm going to try a different rom. Thanks again for your help though!
same here. I'm having an issue with another rom myself, and just want to post to the developer a major bug that I am having. I read throug the entire forum post for that rom, and no one else mentioned the issue that I'm having.
its pretty bazaar that I when I answer a call waiting call no one can hear me. If I switch back to the original call, the same problem happens no one can hear me. This is only when i get another incoming phone call.
The rom i installed is for Energy Rom sense 3.5
Haha, well, if we keep posting to places like this, I guess we'll soon hit our 10 post limit
FYI for anyone that cares, I just installed CleanGB v1.1.2 (for the Epic 4G):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22241642
So far it seems pretty good. If I run into any issues, I guess I'll be posting here again xP

(un)OFFICIAL "CyanogenMod 9 (unofficial)[TeamChopsticks]" Q&A Thread

PREFACE:
Okay, I'm sure like many of you, I'm starting to get a bit tired of development threads being turned into repetitive Q&A threads where questions go unanswered, so I thought I'd start a thread here in the PROPER section and provide a link in the official thread that (hopefully) doesn't get buried. So please, if someone keeps asking a repeat question, direct them here so proper development in that thread doesn't get buried.
SO ANYWAYS,
So far, I'll just leave this here and let it get populated, and update the OP accordingly as common issues come in. Hard to tell when exactly build 2a issues came about, because many issues were fixed (as well as found) when 2/2a was released.
IF YOU HAVE AN ISSUE
Check here first: Google Code Issue Page
This is a collaboration of all major issues that have been presented and have been fixed in major alpha updates. If you have an issue that's listed here, please don't ask about it, as it's already been acknowledged and probably already being worked on.
If you have a potential answer to any of those problems, please, feel free to post what worked for you to fix it. (After all, this is a Q&A thread, right? )
I'll try and keep this OP updated as much as I can with issues that are presented but not on the Google code page. Just thought I'd make this thread to ease a bit off the main thread and also make users' subscriptions to it actually USEFUL and not have them be notified when someone is simply asking how to get Instagram working or when we'll get sources.

I think that may actually be a problem with the rom itself. There is a known issue that cell signal drops every so often, and that may be what is causing you to miss things. One of the big reasons top doesn't recommend this as a daily driver quite yet.
Yeah LOL bit too late figuring that out...after the gf yelling I been texting an calling all day. Maybe I should actually be glad got rid of one head ache CM9 ftw

ROM reviews

Post ROM reviews here.
Start with a Title listing all ROMs, this will help to check post quickly.
Everyone can't test each and every ROM available here. So whoever have tried as much ROMs, please post the reviews about it. Compare with it other ROMs those which you've used.
Compare on the basis of Speed, Battery life and bugs/errors, FCs, etc.
Do recommend a ROM on your own experience.
First, this should be posted in the general section. Second, we already have a sticky discussion thread about ROMs! (No offence)
Yeah, we have another thread, but if this one goes the way I think he wants it would be a different type of thread

@Jason-EX: This thread is regarding sharing of Own experience of all ROMs which one may've used.
@stubborn_d0nkey: You are right.
::urpose of this thread:::
1) To know all pros and cons at one place.
2) It is kinda difficult to conclude from reading all posts from a specific ROM which errors are there, how one and his G3 feels about it.
3) Other threads get jumbled and cluttered by questions of members and their queries.
:::My Intention:::
I want to try other ROMs(gonna be on vacation now!), but when I see Not Working list: May be more, some FCs... I and every member gets confused what all it have and not.
:::Rules of this thread:::
1) Only reviews should be posted.
2) No queries and questions regarding any thing (do post and ask in specific thread).
3) No error and bug reporting.
4) Don't make any post which may humiliate others.
:::IMP:::
All ROMs are great.
ROMs' usability depends upon personal use (such as Testing, give a try, daily use, etc).
However if MOD finds this thread to be unnecessary or posted in wrong section, he can Delete or Move thread. I don't mind (no offence!). MOD can do what he feels right.

Hi all,
Unless I haven't searched very well, which is unlikely, I haven't found how to use a galaxy S3 with ad-hoc on a pc. I have tried a galaxy S2 wpa_supplicant but with no success.
Do any one have an idea of how to do ?
Thx in dvance

Sorry, it was my first post in xda forum...
I'm using Linux so I can't use Virtual Router. Ans I can't use my laptop as an AP cause it uses an Intel 3945ABG chip. The only way for me to have a wifi access is ad-hoc. I've been using it with an iphone, I didn't imagine one second it could be a problem with Android.
Thankx again
I don't think a thread of this kind is of some help
I have observed in g3 community that all the people have different opinions of various roms and hence most of the reviews won't be transparent
The second thing is that roms get updated frequently but the reviews won't
The third thing is that the reviews are posted as replies and most of them well be seperated by other off topic posts like mine and all above ones so it is difficult for those looking for the best ROM

Try giving a thought for my second and third opinions like contacting moderator to delete useless posts or something like that

If the open reserved an extra post or two he could have used them to link to posts with reviews for gone and organize them
What's the use of thread if no one is going to post a review
Contact the moderator and ask him whether it is useful or not and Also ask whether it needs to be posted in general section or not
If he finds it useful ask him to make it a sticky thread
Also ask him to remove all the useless posts and reserve some more posts

[Q] Help finding a good Jellybean ROM?

Hi everyone,
I obviously own a Samsung galaxy s 3. I've been playing around with ROMs recently, and found that I do really like CleanROM. However CleanROM, like most of the other ROMs I have tried to use have god awful GPS support. Typically this wouldn't be a big big downfall, but I'm moving in a few weeks and will need navigation just so I don't get lost haha
Anyway my question is this: does anyone know of a good, lightweight ROM that GPS actually works on? +1 internets to people who help me out
Thanks!

I just jumped onto that page and I will try this ROM tonight and report back
I'm on synergy 169 and my GPS is fine. Not a lot of people actually turn it on. Most people turn on the gos but I'd you go to settings scroll down to accounts then select Google then location settings then make sure box if checked to allow Google as pps to access your location. First time connecting to navigation took about 5 min. Maps located instantly but navigation always takes longer.

Reporting back, I like CleanROM so much I decided to just check and see if there was an updated version. Turns out there is (5.6 ad opposed to 5.5.1 that I had) I'm on the car on the way to work now and GPS is working fine. I'll check out Synergy as well as the person above me said. Thanks everyone!
if youre ever in GPS issues download gpsfix from the market, get a lock and your issue should go away.

I did do a search, I've looked through hundreds of posts in the past week. Synergy has multi-window, but cant scroll though 1000 pages to see what the bugs are (OP doesnt list current bugs), easier for me to post in Q&A section. Dam, if you post a question related to the ROM in the development thread you catch crap, if I post in Q&A, I catch crap. Make up your mind.

[Q] Stabile Rom that doesn't drain battery life?

Hey!
First of all sorry if this is a repost, but i just can't really figure things out on my own.
I have a samsung galaxy s 4g branded to t-mobile. I had a paranoid android rom installed, but it drained my battery quite a bit and i crashed a lot of times. Now i decided to simply install the stock rom, which works good for me. The only problem is that it my phone won't recognize my sim card. I had this problem before, but after installing a custom rom it worked fine.
Can somebody please tell me a good, stabile rom for the sgs4g, that doesn't drain the battery too much? Also i would need some instructions on how to get the rom installed properly.
Thanks for your help!
all roms use battery
hmm
Well yeah. But some do more and some less, right? I am just looking for a rom that is stabile and doesnt crash all the time. i am not looking for a unofficial beta or something, just for something that works, you know what i mean? :/
Try barebones, it works great for me. Its based off the stock GB rom so its really stable

Use - Heimdall One Click posted here.
Try it and if you want some more features, while maintaining stock look and feel - I recommend using Barebone - here.

Nobody is saying not to help newbs here. You have misread the discussion here. It is not a matter of bothersome, it is much to do with the newbs showing interest in this community by first reading the threads. By posting the same question over and over again just showed me that these newbs are here for a quick answer and leave. And on the Net we have a term for that, they are considered "leechers."
There are many other newbs in this forum, and they don't act in this manner. I am always happy to help them within the scope of my knowledge.
When you say "if the post bother me then just move on," it tells me that either you are trying to avoid this issue and/or haven't put much thought in this matter.

Either ignore the post and report it or just dont effing respond. Look at what woody said in the quote I posted above.
People need to learn to use the brain function called ignore. If people would just report posts/threads and not post some snarky retort threads would stay focused. But I digress.
One more thing, sometimes plane answer is the shortest way to close the discussion ...

AOKP has been perfectly stable, and given good battery life on both mine, and my wife's SGS4G's. She was running Valhalla Final and having constant reboots. Ran Gremlin Remover, and worked up to installing AOKP. Neither unit has had a single force close or reboot. I also swapped my stock OEM battery (which was going bad and part of the reason for the instability in my phone) which is 1650 mAh with an Anker 1800mAh battery. I can now get by on one charge a day, which is nice......there are likely some which are much more slim, but all depends on what your needs are.
