Thanks! - G Tablet General

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone here. Picked up my gtab through woot like everyone else seems to have of late and re flashed to TnT lite with no problems thanks to well done guides and the clockwork mod. Life was good until I hit the random force close bug which I believe I've now solved thanks to the helpful stickies. Havent posted much but Ive done quite a bit of lurking since before I got my tab and just wanted to thank everyone for being so awesome and helpful and friendly with everything gtab related.

Problem with Streaming videos on Duttys rom

Was working before I flashed it, just flashed it and now it's coming up with "this action could not be performed". Just looking for some help, would greatly appreciate it , and Dutty great work - even though I thought I brick'd my phone, lol.

Please post this in Dutty's thread.
MODS! Please close this thread.
Instead of starting a whole new thread why don't you try to post in the thread where you got the ROM???
Post In Dutty's Thread!
well, I would chime in but I think 3 might have done it.
screw what I just said.
POST IN DUTTY"S THREAD
Wow such hostility in here. Anyways. most likely your gonna have to download tcpmp with the flash bundle or look into investing into coreplayer 1.2.2 i believe. Ive read that it works awesome with youtube and places of that sort. good luck.

We are not saying that we are not going to help, would just appreciate if he posted a question about Dutty's ROM in appropriate thread.
well i see it as helping out a fellow person. A post is a post instead of typing negative in the post maybe we shouldnt have posted and just ignored it. Duttys thread is huge im pretty sure its been covered in there, theres just like 200 pages. Anyways im not here to piss people off just trying to help. I see it as a good deed for the day. . anyways all the way, thanks for you 4shared folder, got some cabs on there that i was looking for, good job on that bro.

Thank you, everyone.

I want to say thank you to everyone here at XDA.
I don't post here very often, largely because a lot of my problems have been figured out by other members. I just experienced my first real problem when flashing a new ROM on my Captivate and didn't have one second of panic. I backed up properly before flashing and searched the forums enough to find all my answers I needed and even some that were a couple steps ahead of my situation.
So thank you, to everyone who has gone their way before me and provided useful feedback and to those who continually support everyone on the forum.
I second that. As a lurker,I have been through many ups and downs with flashing, but this forum has been nothing but top notch!!! Not quite sure how the saying goes, but my cappy has achieved greatness by standing on the shoulders of others.
Gracias!
sent from my Cap using teh XDA app.
that's great! I don't post much either haha but i do know that finding solutions or roms is never an issue on XDA

Thanks

I looked for the thank button and It does not show up for me so I want to thank everyone for all the work they have done in getting gingerbread up and running for the sgs4g. Also thanks for every piece I use and the links to everything I needed.
I may be a noob at this but I managed to get everything running with out posting stupid questions. The answers were all in the threads that I was using.
Thanks again,
S.T.
I don't think you get a thanks button in any forum you can't post to, yet.
And yeah, the last two gingerbread releases have been close to pure sex. These guys here at XDA do an amazing job
yea, the answers are usually within the threads. a lot of people dont bother searching the entire thread anymore because they get too long, so the same question is usually asked 10x in the same thread. not really a problem, though. im glad you got everything running by reading.

ICS help

Lurkers of the Gtab community. As many of you know there is an ICS rom available elsewhere. I would like to bring this rom to XDA also but am pretty busy to keep up on all the support that will go along with it. If you are an avid lurker on these forums please shoot me a pm. I need a few people to help answer questions as they pop up in the thread. Thanks for your help. ICS will be available on XDA shortly.
ps: sorry, this is kinda a random post here. but it is "general" and about the "gtab."
I am currently running the newly developed ICS on my gtab. All I can say is it runs pretty smooth, but could use a OC kernel. I now the kernel had issues, but will wait on a OC one. First for starting this reply is if you decide to do this to your tablet. follow this man's instructions to the T. You will not regret it. HD video works great.... wait awesome. I did install set CPU in order to raise the min. to 456 to get some minor bugs issued. Will post if any issues doing this. I still get the once in awhile battery shut down, but I reboot back into CWM and clear cache and battery stats and all is well. It only seems to happen after first boot up after fully charging of the tablet. I use my tablet as a daily user so if there is going to be a issue I will keep you updated. Thank you very much for such a great updated firmware. This tablet ROCKS.

Update to the forums

I was just posting results of a new kernel I tried today and it dawned on me that the structure of these forums are not very good for giving feedback to devs or having devs receive feedback without digging through pages and pages of people having the same problems, but not searching. Then, people who want to try the rom/kernel/whatever ask "is this working for anyone?" since all they can see is problems people are having. Then, you'll generally get 1 or 2 posts confirming that everything works for 1 or 2 people, then back to problems that have already been addressed or are from improper set up (not wiping/wrong hboot/etc).
Now, that's how xda has been running pretty much since day 1. And that's all well and good, but if you want to try out the new version of cyanogenmod, for example, the first thing you do is check to be sure there aren't any major bugs that might turn your device into a paper weight. So you start reading every post on the development thread. After getting to page 15 and reading about all of the problems people are having for whatever reason, you day forget it and stick with whatever you were using before.
See, the issue here is that when a rom/kernel/whatever works, only a couple of people will confirm it. When someone had a specific problem, it may be just them, or others may be having it as well.
You can thank people, but what if you could +1 their posts to signify that you are having the same issue, or to simply agree that everything is working without adding clutter to the thread? Seems silly to just keep posting "this worked /didn't work for me too".
Thoughts? Comments?
Viper Rom baby!
Bump
Viper Rom baby!
Sounds like a good ideea .
As you said , if is a lot easier just to see if , for example , a given solution is working by seeing how many ppl confirmed that it is working ( and not reading the next 20 pages of comments ).
You have my +1 on this
Haha thanks for the feedback. I think devs could have a dummy post just saying "everything works!" right on the first page that people could +1.
Also, this does seem to work kind of like a poll on a thread does, but the issue with polls is that they take up a lot of space, they aren't viewable on apps like tapatalk (AFAIK anyways), and you can't change your vote. Any other thoughts? Who would I bring this to to make it happen?
