[Q] Adding third party apps - HTC Inspire 4G

hello I have a inspire and rooted my phone with bubbys one click root (worked great!) now i want to use non market apps like pdanet I went to settings and checked the unknown sources box but .... now what? how do i download the the non market apps and install them ?
I checked the market and the app is still not there please help

Checking the "install non-market apps" box does not mean that more apps appear in the market. U find the apk file somewhere on the internet and put it on your SD card and then install it using a file manager like astro. I'd tell u how to install it through adb but I'm not proficient in adb.

you might have to load a euro rom on att tab
I'm surprised you don't have this option :s
But non market apps are .APK files. You can find them on xda or on the interwebz.

[Q] How to install .apk files on your Android?

Well, users who are already using Android from a longer time, may not find this thread useful because they may already know the thing described in this thread. I'm posting this thread for new Android Users. New Android Users may not know how to install .apk files in their Android device on SD Card. Just follow the 3 simple steps given below and you'll be able to install any .apk file on your Android:
Step 1. Copy the .apk file to your SD Card.
Step 2. Get Astro File Manager from Android Market.
Step 3. Open the file in Astro File Manager.
Step 4. When the installation is finished, you'll find your app just like any other app in your device.

You forgot to say that you need to check install from non-market resources in app settings. That might be important for a new person to know as well.

That's strange, all stock roms I've ran on my evo, and before that my optimus s have started with it un-checked. Thought it was googles way of pushing us toward their products. Huh.

I don't know why it's so...but it happens in my Wildfire..
what about sd data?
Some games come with sd data files. How can I install them? When I put them in the path (mostly H:android:data) it says files still need to be downloaded. What do I do wrong?

[Q] How to root a Samsung GT-S5830 on Ubuntu ?

Hello to all
I am a noob but I do not ask for mercy since I have looked at and appreciated the Noob Video .
I have thouroughly searched the wiki and the forum but I did not find the answer.
I have looked at the topic before posting.
Is there a way to root a Samsung GT-S5830 on Ubuntu ? or on Linux anyway ? This is the only OS I have on my desktop and I do not have a Windows copy.
Thanks and regards
Ciryon
Ace stock froyo can be rooted via superoneclick, thus needs windows, mandatory. But if u already on gingerbread u can just flash a zip file via stock recovery to root it, no need pc/windows whatsoever. Look in ace's dedicated forum

So it is done, I have theorically rooted my phone but I am not sure it worked. I still cannot uninstall stock application I do not want, I am only allowed to uninstall updates but not the apps. How Can i Check I have really rooted it ?
Check if theres superuser app in app drawer. And install root checker from market to see if can request root call to su binary correctly.

Hello
There is a super user app in my app drawer.
I click on it and there is 3 menus I will translate
App, Log and settings
App and log are empty
Setting display several options
I have downloaded Rootcheck basic, it told me I am root.
In the future, if you have to flash your phone via Odin (for example) I suggest the use of a Virtual Machine like VMware or VirtualBox. In my case, i'm running MacOSX and I flashed my phone using Parallels, and it works great.

You have posted question in wrong section. You should have posted in general section. Anyway, If you have root access you can manually paste the apk in /system/app directory and give manual permission(-rw-r-r-) for running to force install as system app.
Sometime apps will work this way.
another clickbait scum thing..
nonetheless pls be careful what u post and how u post .
