how to enable hsupa on white nam 3g nexus s? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

not too happy with this... here is a screen that may help:
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
network type says hsdpa (it should say hspa, right?).if i have to root, i'm ok with that (it'd be my first time, though) but these > 200 kbps uploads have got to come to an end. if there's a tutorial for this, i would appreciate it GREATLY if someone could point me to it? thanks so very much!
eric b

Hspa? Nexus s is only capable of hsdpa speeds (7.2mb). If you're talking about upload speeds then.
What carrier are you using? Update your radio to KB3
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk

hspa is high speed packet access, which is to say it's both hsdpa and hsupa at the same time. i'm on at+t, and i'll have a look into that radio. thanks a lot!
eric b

you have to edit your build.prop to enable the higher upload speeds above 384Kbps. just set hsxpa=3 in the build prop file, and you're good to go. you should see around 1Mbps to 1.5Mbps upload.

all right... i've opened the build.prop file in text editor, but i don't see hsxpa anywhere to change the value. am i missing something, or do i just enter that line in? and if so, does it matter where? thanks in advance.
eric b

if it helps/matters, my build.prop file is:

ugh, looks like i need to use the recovery for an i9023 now? this is turning out to be a major headache... and a lesson learned.
eric b

i believe if its not in your build prop, you just add that line you need to the end of your file. not sure about custom recoveries you mentioned, that shouldnt be needed. just search out the build prop edits, and add that line to yours.

all mods require clockwork recovery -.-
alternatively, you can flash 2.3.3 and it'll update your radio

so when i get mine on teusday I can Root, CWM, and then just update to newest CM7 with 2.3.3, will that update my radio as well?

This is what I did to get some improvement.

nice,i hope the SBF will be out soon..love the nordic speed but i want BLUR.
added the SBF file.
argh, same version number as debur one (177-005)... will confuse more than one for cm7 ^^
and also almost the same kernel version number... which was 2.6.32.9-ga28fcc4[email protected] #1
Differences in SBF with 177-005 :
only CG35, CG39, CG47
so its possible to flash only the new kernel and recovery
here is the new kernel+recovery sbf (bootonly) : http://defy.tanguy.tk/sbf/
Tested ok on CM7 (my original SBF was the 177-005)
Linux version 2.6.32.9-ga28fcc4 ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.4.0 (GCC) ) #1 PREEMPT Fri Apr 1 16:08:01 CST 2011
this kernel is older than the 177-005 (6 Apr) but may have different features...

Depends if you want to have blur or facebook contacts integration. For CM7 base I think the blurless would be better.

thanks for the inputs :]

I still don't think people understand. If you are running tiamat rom or tiamat update for 3.1 you are not wifi anymore. You are on a 3g system.

CHANGES
>Can take pictures while video recording
>Touchwiz V4.0 (but the same old icons)
>Photoeditor
>Option to change font size under "Accessibility"
>Face recognition
>Camera (seems to focus faster)
>GPU drivers
>Autorotation is faster
I checked the gpu drives there's one file repacked
but it doesn't change the score
It seems they have made a slight change in the gpu drivers.
Please test some HD games and give feed back. (A slight tweak could have done the trick)
Compared the build.prop whith the KQ7 one
No major changes.
BUGS
1)The dock reset's to it's original layout after clearing the RAM or rebooting (thank's to XenoBE)
2)App icons are misplaced after a reboot.
You can Avoid these bugs by deodexing the rom and then doing a factory reset by dialing *2767*3855#

Thank's to crybert, Here is a deodexed Version of the KQB Firmware.
The zip Package is flashable via CWM/FeaMod an StockRecovery.

It only contains the app/framework folder. So you have to Flash KQB via Odin first.

The lockscreen is not laggy, its very smooth. And it looks like the Galaxy Note lockscreen. The phone is not laggy at all.
It's XXKQ7 with the new added crapwiz v4.0 and the premium **** (photo editor, face lock)
Browser is the same still can see the Checkered boxes while scrolling large pages
hmm... 19 min of odin flash still on system.img.ext4 download , i'm starting to get worried
Edit: finally ,after 21 min odin decided to finish
Ive found already a bug :s
When i was adding a widget, and i pushed the back button, the homescreen was stuck in the "adding-widget" like homscreen, you can do everything but the homescreens are smaller. The only thing you can do is reboot.
I think i will not flash it... dont like tw 4.0 it has lots of wasted space between dock icons and screen... one word this is crap...
is this the official value pack?
Fukin bastards didn't bother to update the apps
samsung = Bunch of assholes

trust me it is quick, the old touchwiz is slow, this one kills it, scrolling in app drawer has never been this quick on a stock touchwiz
210mb average RAM used without anything installed, too much in my opinion,i think 180mb (as on SGS) would've looked nice.
the auto rotation is also tweaked, try watching a youtube video and rotating to landscape, it takes less than a sec
also as mentioned before, lockscreen is not laggy (for now).
Edit: Gallery loads very guickly. camera app has the snapshot icon durin video recording. autofocus still not present (at least according to my eye) .

I encountered the same bug. One workaround is add a shortcut to the screen and then delete it. Worked for me now 3 times...

Will test it and reply
ok, touchwiz launcher 4 is still buggy.
maybe someone should test the launcher with this whole rom. just to be sure.
and maybe something is fixed, like lockscreen?

A small question: where did you get the attached file from? I just extracted the TW app from ROM system image and the MD5 is different... Also smaller - 1.75MB

just extract the "rom".tar.md5 with 7zip, use the cygwin kitchen and set up a working folder with cache.img.ext4, system.img.ext4, and boot.img
then you can deodex the rom and use single apk's
