[Q] Controller Emulator for Android - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Not sure if anyone has seen this done before, but the iPhone/iPad combo has pulled off a pretty cool trick for emulating a SNES.
Because I'm new, the site won't let me link, but there's an emulator that allows you to use the iPad as the display, and the iPhone replicate the controller.
I'd love to see this done with an Android tablet/phone combo interfacing via bluetooth. Even if we couldn't get perfect controller replications, a generic bluetooth control interface would be kind of cool.
I'm currently using a rooted Nook Color and a Droid Incredible. Anyone have any suggestions for how this could be done?
Edit: The app for the iPad is called SNES HD.

PS3 Controller Driver

Hello to all of you,
As i saw here are some impressive programmers at work and i wanted to ask how it can be done to rewrite a normal windows driver for windows mobile? I think it would be wonderful to use the ps3 controller as gamepad.
Im kinda new to the whole programming scene but ive got time and a strong will so if anybody could give me a little push at the start i will get to the goal more quickly.
Thanks for any advice!

if you could, it would be amazing, infact any controller to work with the phone would make me very happy. Especially when using the PS1 emulator.
However I stuggled to get my PS3 controller to work with my PC so getting to work on a phone?... dunno.
Tutorial to use your ps3 controller as gamepad on pc
i think it can not be that difficult but ill try
If I'm not totally wrong, I think I remember that die Experia X2 will can be used as a PS3-Controller and connect it directly with your PS3.
OK this migth not be your question, but is a bit similar maybe and maybe some have interests for that (I'm sure this option will be ported from the X2 to the HD2!)
microsoft & xbox
Windows Mobile + X box = Microsoft Portable Gaming Device controller.
Perhaps it could work with this driver here.

If you are interested in alternatives to the MSI or Chainpus BGP100 bluetooth gamepad, google search "modded by bacteria" go to the "work in progress" section of his forums, and search for the thread "Re-housed Bluetooth controller". The creator of the site, Bacteria, will be transplanting the innards of the BGP100 into an SNES controller. Previously, he has transplanted it into a PS1 controller. It seams feasible to DIY into almost any controller housing.
Any progress ? I think this would be an awesome thing, SNES on Android with a PS3 controller = NGP
Has anyone tried "Cobaltikus's" app called CobaltController? It'll allow you to connect either a ps3 controller or a wii remote to our windows mobile phones. You can find it HERE
Anyone have any luck with this yet?
Has anyone checked out motioninjoy?
I cant even get gamepro to work let alone anything else. The last 2 listed, where do i find those? they are not in market

Gaming

So yesterday I downloaded Nesoid and a handful of ROMs for my Captivate. I had some fun playing them, but using the on screen virtual keyboard was really hard and it covered most of the gaming action. So I see that the new psx4droid supports wiimote. So I emailed the developer of Nesoid and suggested that he add that capability to his too and that other than that its a great emulator. He emailed back and this is his response
You can use other apps on the Market. But please enable input method in Nesoid settings.

What does this actually mean? Is there another app that I have to download and install first to get the wiimote to connect to my phone via bluetooth?
I dont have a wiimote yet, and before I go buy one, I'd like to know exactly how it works, if it will.
Search for "Wiimote controller" on the market, should work.
You can use a few bluetooth gamepads with android. One being
MSI Bluetooth Gamepad (BGP-100) which is a weird kinda swivel thing. I am going to gut a SNES controller and put the BGP-100 into it. It has been done before and everything seems to fit fine.
There is also another bluetooth controller made for blackberry's that works with android. It is vertical gamepad with a trigger control. Seems pretty nice.
I think you have to buy a market app to get the drivers to make the above 2 gamepads work.
Also as mentioned you can use a wiiremote as a gamepad for android. I have been looking for a wii classic controller + wii combo, so it does not have to be tethered to a normal wii controller to work. I want small and portable bluetooth with a dfecent amount of buttons that is why I am going with the SNES form factor.

Free, although it does say there isn't galaxy s support....so it might not work.
wiimotes currently do not work on the SGS phones because of the bt3.0. not sure on the other BT controllers
Are there any controllers that can be plugged in? Just wondering for flights...
Well I emailed the developer of Wiimote Controller and asked if they could update to support Galaxy S phones. This is there response:
Hello,
thank you for your feedback.
I don't think this will be possible with the current way Samsung's software is handling bluetooth.
Best regards,
Piki

Doesnt sound good for us getting to use a wiimote as a gamepad
Trying to play Nesoid with onscreen vitrual controller sucks, its too hard and I'm afraid of breaking my phone. Every time I get into the game and start tapping A or B rapidly I can feel it flex and creak in my hands.
Just wondering in anybody has made progress on getting a bluetooth controller for the captivate/galaxy s?
Ive been looking into it...and came to a bunch of dead ends aswell :sigh:
Sent from my Vibrant using XDA Ap
Please let me know if anyone finds a controller that works.
Thank you,

Speaking of games...
I wasn't able to find any in the market but I'm rooted so I know I can find games from other sources.
Are there any games like Alone in the Dark (horror genre) or fantasy role playing that would have the same type of graphics you'd see in WoW that I can put on my Captivate?

[Q] Where are we at on intergrating a ps3 or 360 controller for emulator use?

I know that on the Xoom, the new 3.1 allowed some very basic use of the ps3 controller, but what about full use with one or two controllers connected bluetooth to the Transformer?
Is this something we'll have to wait for proper support for, or can this be wired into a rom?
Thanks for the replies folks.
My tf is in the mail now and i would love to see the xbox 360 controller utilized in games such as dungeon defenders, or gun bros, or any emulator games. is there anything the xda community could do to help this concept along or is there just hours and hours of coding to be done to get the controller up and running correctly?
It shouldn't be that difficult. xpad.ko is floating around for Android 2.2 devices and works nicely on devices such as the Advent Vega.
I'm sure it will happen in time.

[Q] SNES Controller?

I know the Touchpad has the SNES emulator and I was wondering if anyone out there know if there is a bluetooth SNES controller out there? Or can I somehow obtain a microusb controller? Playing Super Nintendo games on a touchscreen is not the best experience.
I am able to bluetooth connect a ps3 remote to my evo running CM. Maybe when they get android on it this might be possible. Not sure if it is possible to due with WebOS.
The problem isn't the pairing of the device, its that the app doesn't allow configurable buttons. If it did, we could use the external keyboard... Maybe write the dev..?
maybe they could do it like snes4iphone where you can pair a wiimote with the classic controller. webos snes is in early stages though, change the skin to snes controller, that helped some.
I have a bunch of .smc roms. I loaded them onto my web server and tried downloading them thru the browser, but it doesn't "save" them. I guess I need to transfer them via USB?
..............double post.

If not that, try your box.net account...
yeah I had problems with that too. Just ended up doing it via USB as I was at my pc anyway.
I actually found the on-screen pad on the TP really easy to use compared to any device Ive tried previously... Obviously using a real pad would be preferable though!!

Game controller with Bluetooth for games Question

Can I use a bluetooth wimote or bluetooth playstation controller with the Note 10.1. I would like to play some old Nintendo games I used to play back in the day with the emulators. I read that you can use bluetooth controllers when playing games which I would prefer since the whole on screen controls don't appeal to me and I find it difficult. My question is do I need root in order to set this up or can I do it with stock on the 10.1. I heard of some sixaxis app or something but don't know if I need it. looking for some help since I'm sure others on this board know a lot more about this than I do. If anyone has any other advice for me...I'm all ears. Thanks

I'm not sure about the Wii mote, but the Sixaxis app is specific to playstation controllers I believe and requires root so i doubt it would work on the stock 10.1.

+1 for this query.
On the TF101, you just needed to connect a PS3 pad via the USB port and press some buttons to verify it worked. This in turn synced the controller. After this switching on the tablets blue tooth and pressing the PS logo on the PS3 controller would allow it to work via blue tooth. No root or sixaxis app needed. I'm guessing that won't work here?
What about purchasing the usb connector kit for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 that supposedly works with the Note 10.1. Get the connection kit plug in the usb controller into the usb port on the connection kit and see if it allows it to synch with bluetooth like you listed above. I would love to know if this works.
If you want to play Nintendo games I suggest the NES.emu emulator from the play store. It will discover wii motes in app and you can use them to play. Works very well with no root.
Sent from my Galaxy Note
PS3 Sixaxis controller needs root and the app. You can always use an xbox controller wired or wireless (with dongle via usb and app) more work though. Or connect a bluetoothe keyboard or wired keyboard.
As for emulators I recomend that you get droidemu lite and support the developer and get the full support as this emulator has all worthy emulators in it except n64 and ps1. He is very responsive to issues and fixed issues in a timely manner.
I just tested with mine and I was able to connect a Wii Remote using WiimoteController in less than 5 minutes. I tried it for a few minutes in GTA3, no problems so far.
Can confirm Sony PS3 wireless bluetooth controller works with SixAxis but requires root. Aside from the convenience of wireless controller it also extends the life of your port connector from wear and tear.
