Greetings
I have very simple questions regarding windows phone 7
I have LG Optimus 7, 2 days ago, unlocked (if it matters) and i seem unable to use either USSD / or SIM Applications (i cant find it )
1. SIM Applications:
its when the carrier provides some menus through providing an application in the SIM card itself (sometimes its called SIMTools, it has applications like transfer credits from one phone to another), usually its in the applications section regardless of the phone's operating system, .. but i cant seem to find it in Windows Phone 7 :S
2. USSD commands
When dialing *141# a menu appear that has some options, and prompting the users to enter a choice for example, when i dial *141# i get
---------------
Enter an option
1. Tariffs
2. Special Offers
-----------------
and then i need to bring up the numbers pad and type "1" or "2" depending on what i want.
The problem is, after dialing *141# the number pad is disabled :/ and i cannot bring it in anyway, and there is nothing to be clicked so am stuck at the following screen
---------------
Enter an option
1. Tariffs
2. Special Offers
-----------------
WTF?
P.S. i tried some suggestion i read somewhere on the net, to save *141#, 1, 2 as a contact, and when i dial it automatically go through the menu and answers according to what you put, but it didnt work, when i try to dial the contact it treats it as an actual call! and tells me "the number you have dialed is not registered bla bla bla"
so any suggestions guys or is it a dead end?
I think this is one of the problem with the current os, my workaround is to input *141*1# if you want option 1 and *141*2# for option 2, for multiple sub menu you can put *141*1*2*1# etc, I know it's troublesome

I thought I was only having problems with the Samsung Tools when I try to sideload the xap file. But I tried other xap files and it still gives me the same error: "Please make sure your phone was unlocked..."
But my phone is unlocked.
Now, I'm thinking that I can't install anymore because I've reached my max. And when I try to do the registry tweak (from the forum) to allow max number of apps, it won't let me. I've tried with the Registry Editor and the SamsungRegistry app to no avail.
Can someone please help me! I have a samsung focus and the tools available here seem to work only for HTC devices. Thanks.
Im having the problem of reaching the max number, i deployed an app and recieved the message that ive reached the maximum, so im going to try and edit the registry untill i find the answer.
but, i think this may be the answer..
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\DeviceReg\Install]
"MaxUnsignedApp"=dword:7fffffff
&& install is one word, but for some reason on my browser its showing "in stall"
There is already an app for that.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=916098
Zune set the limit back at a regular basis, so rerun the app before deploying a new xap.
I couldn't edit the registry since I had a Focus. However, I forgot that I had the advanced config app and there was a button on it to allow for max number of apps. I'm good now!!!
Focus with NoDo and an unlocked phone!!!
Woooohooooo!!!
Thank you everyone for being soooo smart! I also am using the XDA app. Pretty amazing!!

What device are you using? Chevron is a tool to get your device developer unlocked. To use the tool you must first install the cert, like you already did. Neither the tool nor the cert have something to do with the marketplace. To be able to use the marketplace, you need a Windows Live ID.
i have a htc trophy, i can enter in the marketplace but i cannot download enything
, i am doing a restore now

But you set up your Windows Live account and entered the activation code that came with your device, right? Without that, you cannot use the marketplace.
ye the account is fine, but it s after i installed the certificate file, still not working after the restore
Is there maybe a problem with the marketplace just now? I've just tried to download a few different things and am getting message along the lines of "can't get this info right now, check back later"?
I've not installed anything or done anything out of the ordinary today on my phone?

I've been trying to update apps as well and it's now allowing me to...
MP usually has problems for me too on weekends..
To confirm, I'm having issues as well. I went so far as to factory reset my phone
I put a call into Microsoft/Zune Support. They're suppose to call me back in like 30 miutes
Been trying to update Cocktail Flow, but kept giving the same error over and over (since yesterday). Downloading new apps was fine... just updates.
Only now have I been able to update it... check it out guys.
Hi there ...
I have the same problem - i can enter the marketplace, view all apps ... But when i try to buy or download something' i get a timeout ... Using my HD7, of course

MP problem is problem over net/over cloud, it has nothing to do with our phones... same for Xbox Live or Zune Player MP..
I dont think its not a good idea to hard reset my phone over net/cloud problems.. just wait .. lol

Yeah...unfortunately, learned that the hard way. Now I can't get my phone back the way i want it until this issue is fixed.
**UPDATE**
Just for the heck of it, I created a new live id and was able to download apps. is there a way I can switch all my transactions from the live id that's not working to the live id that is working?
I don't know about that.. But I have switched from mobudget to my budget app.. And my trial expired last night .. Since than I have been trying to buy it but nothing ..

Is anyone else still having problems with the marketplace? I'm still getting the "can't get this information right now, check back in a little while" error when I try to download anything.
Edit : I also can't download any apps or music through Zune on my laptop so I'm guessing my windows live I.d. has developed some kind of problem in the last 24 hours. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Everything is fine now for me.. microsoft updated mp with new apps and new featured apps and things like that.. maybe thats why their is a downtime on weekends..
Update:
I can install/buy apps now..
Patience people... same with updates and problems.
I would have f***** ** my phone a while ago I haven been patient with NoDo and forced it.
i was a HD2 use untill yesterday, now i have a HD7. my problems is that I have a Dev account and i unlocked the HD7. but i cannot sideload more than couple of app. i try the registry edit to do it manually but i keep getting that the path in hidden (install\MaxUnsignedApp not showing). i also try the removesideloadlimit app and it works but it stop working and work and stop working.....
You need to use the HTC Connection Setup method of editing the registry once you are on Mango to do any registry edits, including the one to allow more than 3/10 sideloaded apps.
A search of the forums will answer questions on how to do this.

Thanks for the info, but I do not want to go to mango. I want to stay in NoDo. I just want the ability to sideload application like in the hd2, no limit. I have look all over the wp7 forum and hd7, but I keep finding is removing sideload limit app (it works but Zune block it after a while) and the registry (dont work, because I cannot find the folder to change the key) and adv config. ( don't seen to work)

Sorry, didn't realize you weren't on Mango. Despite that, the process is the same as has been described in any posts you have found. The registry needs to be edited. If Zune is restoring your settings, its because the official dev unlock will always limit the number of apps. You'll need to do a Chevron unlock in order to get the limit removed.

Thanks, I will do that. If I can figure it out. In the hd2 the rom comes already with NoDo and chevron. I think with the hd7 I have to downgrade before anything.

In NoDo, just use a registry editor. Than add key to create the hidden keys/values. This is how I did it before provxml & is easier if you're only doing a few edits. Also, certain apps have an option to apply this for you such as Advanced Configuration Tool.

Advanced configuration tool didn't, and the registry I couldn't apply because I couldn't find the key under "devicereg". I think it was Zune resetting my limit sine I had a original dev unlock key. But I just downgrade to 7004/7008 and unlocked the phone with chevron and then updated to NoDo. Everything looks like its working fine.

HEY
i see the mango update is starting to go live for people and after looking at microsoft site its shows in the uk that o2 are givng out the update.
my question is i have a unlocked htc 7 pro currently using a t-mobile sim can i take this out use my partners o2 sim to see if i can get the update then once updated transfer back to my t-mobile sim?
thanks for any help with this.
did you try to force the update with the zune software (the link is in this forum on a different thread). It worked for my phone and doesn't really use my carrier's network (since it relies on disabling your network connection during the upgrade check). It might work for you without doing anything else.
Agree with last post. If in doubt, force it

If you're too lazy to search for the link, here it is: http://www.wpcentral.com/force-mango-update-early-through-zune-software
I had to repeat the steps a bunch of times to get it right, but it works fine
But take care, this will probably re-lock your phone, I had no problem with this because I already have an AppHub student account, so I can officially unlock it again
But I'm still facing some problems because students are only allowed 3 sideloaded apps, and since this number is smaller than 300, this means that the phone will be Interop-locked (this is explained here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1265321), so I can't open any code that use native libraries, so I'm unable to edit the registry to increase MaximumUnsignedApps :S
thanks i found the force link lastnight. got it all to work first time so easy was great thank you for the info.
Hello.
I have a HTC Titan Device.
there is no Interop Unlock for my device yet and i try to do it myself .
but it is so hard or near impossible because i am new on this and i dont have an unlocked phone to see the system files.
so i Asked for help. and also i have under 10 Post and cannot post into Developer Section.
So here is what i need to know.
Samsung just Open a menu with : ##634#
when we use ##634# on HTC device , it try to open something (but it cant).
but with HTC , We can open field Test by ##3282#
WindowsBreak project use ../../ on zip folder to access the Samsung menu.
so maybe if someone know where is ##3282# point to and what is inside it , We can Unzip file into it and put new menu to Interop Unlock HTC Device.
I will appreciate any help.
(Sorry for my poor English)

Fortunately! BTW, I assume you can read? Try to read first all corresponding topics: your questions are already answered many times. And before "try to do it myself", you should learn a lot of things...

sorry for that. And thank you.
Short version: Field Test on HTC phones is nothing like Diagnostics on Samsung phones, and the similar hacks are not going to work. That's not to say that nothing can work, but we haven't found one that will for HTC gen2 yet.

Thanks for your Answer.
I have another Idea (Maybe this one is old too) but it worth to shot.
Where does Htc Apps list on the market , Get it's list and download address?
Can't we just edit that , and add one app from anywhere(Web address , address on the phone).
Because as far as i know marketplace allow to install any App with any Permission.
First issue: what good would that do? The problem isn't in the app, it's in the high-privilege drivers that the app(s) use to make changes. Those are part of the firmware, not part of the app.
Second issue: In order to install apps with ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES on an interop-locked phone, the apps need to have the Marketplace signature on them. Homebrew apps don't have a valid sugnature.

Now I really Hate HTC
Because the only device that can't Interop (yet) is the HTC gen2.
anyway , Thank you GoodDayToDie.
Well, last I checked the Dell Venue Pro was never IUed, and I don't think anybody has managed with the Lumia 900 yet either (and I don't even know for the Toshiba/Fujitsu IS12T). Otherwise, though, yeah I hear you.
