[Game Help] Medieval Castle Defense - General Questions and Answers

I'm currently playing Medieval castle defense and have failed miserable at stage 5-1. I spent the past hour hunting on google with no fruit. I'm wondering if anyone here has gotten to that point in the game and if they have any tips or links to a place that offer me tips or a solution to this stage?
Thanks

I'm only on level 2 :-(
when i get there I'll tell you hoe to beat it
I'm sure you'll have it by then
this is a cool game though
Good luck

PS: if u beat it tell me so I'll know when i get there

you'll need to have catapult, gold tower, net tower and slow tower.
1. build a catapult beside the rock outside the spawn area.
2. upgrade it
3. level 2, build another catapult at the left side of the wooden log
4. upgrade it + build a slow tower at the u-turn area.
5. upgrade both catapult towers to level 3.
6. build 1 more catapult, then upgrade it slowly till level 2 (preferably build it the the right slot of the big U shape of the below part)
7. wave 6 you shld build your 1 net towers beside the 1st catapult tower first.
8. during wave 6, upgrade your third catapult to level 3 upon having the gold.
9. during wave 6, when it's down to the last fews, feel free to build 1 gold tower near the castle.
8. note that wave 7 is the last wave, so just let you gold tower keep shooting
may you get a perfect score ^^

Sweet. Ill do that tonight when i get out of my internship. I did pass the stage after a week on it, but 6 units got in.... which really sucked..

You're doing better than me. I can't get past level 3-3. I've tried several combination, catapults, cannons, towers, and can't seem to get the right placement. Lost about 20-25 in a row now.
Any help on this level would be greatly appreciated.

Two generic tips. One: never underestimate the cannon. They fire fast, are relatively cheap to build and upgrade and are really great for clean-up work (after multi-shot or bombard). Two: after you get the gold consumption tower, you may find it somewhat easier to get perfect scores on earlier levels. I'm now at stage 6 and I've completed all the others with all the medals and perfect scores.
This is my solution for 3-3, if you don't want spoilers, don't select the text.
The only good defenses are overlapping ones, so make sure you only build in the interior castle court. My build is symetric, so, I will only describe the right side. I use cannon, catapult, multi-shot, mana and slow towers.
I start with a catapult right next to the junction (there's a nook) and a multi-arrow on top of it, plus a cannon in the woods right next to the castle (x2 on the other side). I upgrade the multi-shot and cannon first. When fully upgraded, I add a slow tower on the other side of the catapult, later a mana tower next to the multi-shot and two more cannon in the road bend. For the last stages you'll have plenty of cash, so improvise. There's another catapult nook down below, and you should add another slow tower somewhere close to it too. I don't guarantee a perfect score, but you'll get at least three stars out of this.
Question: are there people out there who managed to get level 6-1 with only three towers? There's a medal there that suggests it is possible, but I can't imagine how. Unless you sell all but three of the towers for the last wave (the one with that bastard healer boss that refuses to die).

Thanks for the quick response. Quick question regarding some of your terminology for the placement of pieces. And I will hide the text too to keep from spoiler alerts.
For 3-3, when you say "junction," is that at the beginning next to the tent, that first grass strip coming out from the tent, or another area. Not sure where the junction or nook is.
And you place these pieces at the beginning, with cannons at the end to guard the castle from any that get through at the beginning, and then build and upgrade from there... is that correct?
Thanks again. Just trying to get past this. I had no problems with any other level, all 3 gold stars (except for one white star) until 3-3, and this one I just can't seem to get past.
Thanks again. I realize there is more than one way to beat a level, but, just wanting to see what you had been able to do.

Shadowscape,
Just beat 3-3 and 3-4.
The biggest thing was learning that you can actually "upgrade." I wasn't sure what you had meant by upgrade in your previous post.
Once you learn how to upgrade your weapons, it can be pretty brutal. And, if there is anyone out there who was like me, not knowing how to upgrade, here's how you do it:
Place your weapons. As you have enough gold, touch one of the weapons and you will see a green arrow. Click on the green arrow to upgrade the power of the weapon. You can do multiple upgrades until you max out. For example, a cannon costs 60 gold to place. It does 5 damage. If you upgrade for 35 more gold, it will do 10 damage. If you upgrade again, it is another 80 gold, it will do 15 damage, etc.
Thanks again for your help.

thanks a ton! after following your instructions to the tee i finally got the perfect score! booya!

We need someone to make some videos and put them on YouTube. I found one video, but it is more of an intro to the game. I think it is from the developer, according to one of the comments.
I can't post the YouTube URL right now because I'm a new member here on the forum, but just go there and do a search for: Medieval Castle Defense
I've made it to 4-3, but stuck again. Can't believe you only get 180 gold to start that level. Losing bad.
Great game though.

Hi i am also stuck at 4-3 any help please

any hint on 3-5??
Am I the only one having troubles passing this one?

For level 3-5, I use cannons, slow towers, and mana towers.
Before wave 1. With 400 gold to start, I place 1 canon on each of the small squares of grass about half way up on the two outside paths. This allows that cannon to fire on the enemy the whole time they are walking around.
Going up the middle, I place 1 canon on each side of the path on the 2nd tier of grass, and a slow tower on the back of the 1st tier.
I then place 1 canon on each side of the entrance to the castle on the very upper tier.
During wave 1. You will get enough gold before the enemy reaches the castle to upgrade the 2 cannons by the entrance to the castle. Upgrade them both.
Before wave 2. Upgrade both canons on the middle path.
During wave 2 or before wave 3. I add a canon on each side of the end of middle path (just below the 2 canons guarding the entrance to the castle). You can then upgrade 1 of those canons.
During wave 3 and before wave 4. I upgrade the other canon on the end of the middle path. I also do the final upgrade to one of the canons guarding the entrance to the castle.
Before wave 5. I do the final upgrade on the other canon guarding the entrance to the castle, and I add a mana tower in the middle path opposite the slow tower.
Before wave 6. I do the final upgrade to one of the canons at the top of the middle path. I upgrade the slow tower in the middle path.
Before wave 7. I do the final upgrade on the other canon at the top of the middle path. I add a new canon on the middle path, below the slow tower.
Before wave 8. I upgrade each canon on the outside path. I add a new canon at the bottom of the middle path below the mana tower.
Before wave 9. I put 1 slow tower to the side of each of the canons guarding the entrance to the castle (next to the stump on the left and on the other side of the tree on the right).
Before wave 10. I upgrade each of the canons at the bottom of the middle path and I add a new canon on the outside path, above and to the inside (on the higher ground) of the exisiting outside path canon.
Before wave 11. I do the final upgrade on the canon on the middle path above the slow tower. I also upgrade one of the new canons on the outside path.
During wave 11 and before wave 12. I upgrade the other new canon on the outside path. I do the final upgrade on the canon on the middle path above the mana tower. I add two new canons next to the canons at the top of the middle path and upgrade them both. I do the final upgrade on one of the canons at the bottom of the middle path. I upgrade the mana tower.
Before wave 13. I do the final upgrade on the other canon at the bottom of the middle path. You can add a canon anywhere else near the top, upgrade the two slow towers near the top, or whatever with the final gold.
That gets me a perfect score on 3-5.
Not sure if it makes sense, but for me it is all canons and slow towers mostly. You need to fortify that middle path because that is the fastest path to the castle.
Hope that helps.

Does anyone have a plan on how to beat 4-3? I have been stuck on 4-3... can't seem to get past it. I can make it up to wave 11, but I don't have the fire power to overcome all the tanks.
Edit:
I finally beat 4-3!! I did it all with canons, slow towers, and mana towers. Not sure if there is really a way to describe how I did it, except that I upgraded every canon to level 2, put in 2 or 3 slow towers, and 2 mana towers. I kept trying it with multi-shot towers and catapults, but couldn't getter done.
I did not put any weapons on the first path as the enemies leave the tent. I put them all on the 2nd pathway, and at the top of the 3rd pathway.
Make sure by wave 7 you have plenty of fire power on the first path, at least 2 or 3 strong canons at the beginning of the 3rd path (and maybe a slow tower). You will face the enemy that will freeze (turn yellow) your weapons, so you'll need to make sure you have some of them spread out so they can keep taking out enemies on wave 7.
Also, if you make it to wave 11, after the last tanks leave your first sets of canons, you can delete those canons and move them over to the 3rd path, because you're gonna need them. Since there are only 11 waves, you won't need those first canons anymore, so keep upgrading the 3rd path canons and put in some slow towers to get those enemies moving slow.

I too am having issues with 4-3. No matter what combination I try it does not work out for me.

What a great game!
Until World 6 I got all achievements and did all stages perfectly.
But it seems that achievement 5 in world 6 is buggy. I did it with only three towers (perfect of course), but it doesn't count for me. I tried different tower-combinations -> no success.
And it would be nice if anyone could give some hints for 6-3 and 6-4. No chance for me to do it in the perfect way. I already tried it MANY times.
Thx
edit: 4-3 is very easy. Just build ONLY ballistas. Start with two (one in the center buttom-right, and one in the center upper-left). Upgrade asap. Build anonther ballista near the first or second, upgrade ... and so on

The three tower achievement refers to tower types, not actual towers. Only select the tower types that you actually use and you should get the medal at the end.

World 5 Stage 4 Help
Does anyone know how to complete World 5 Stage 4? It's really starting to bug me! I think I've tried hundreds of combinations to no avail. Also I don't see a reason to use the gold consumption tower. It just wastes gold till you have none left. When should it be used?
Somebody needs to make a walkthrough this game so it doesn't get too frustrating and turn players away.

My Solution for 5-4:
Wave 1: Build one Bombard Cannon in the upper left corner. Upgrade 2 times.
Wave 2: Build another Bombard Cannon next to the first one. Upgrade 2 times.
Wave 3: Build another Bombard Cannon next to the other ones. Upgrade.
Wave 4: Upgrade the last Bombard Cannon.
Wave 5: Build one Slow Tower and upgrade 2 times.
Wave 6: ---
Wave 7: Build 4 Gold Tower and relax.
... Relax until the end.
I don't have the permission to insert a link with my "screenshot". So, I hope its okay if I post my links in that way ;-) (just remove the spaces)

APP- Zombie Survival Handbook

I posted this in the nexus one apps topic but it should probably go here
V 1.0 of the Zombie Survival Handbook is now out, and I would love feedback. If you don't want to spend the 0.99, I would still appreciate thoughts as to what type of things you would want in this sort of app.
Current items that aren't found in normal zed apps:
Excerpts from the army survival guide for survival on the go in a variety of climates
Cultural overview of zeds myths from different parts of the world
Historical overview of how our modern zombie was shaped over the last 100 years
One of the suggestions was a review of modern zed literature + movies, and here are some of my favorites at least that you may not have seen
The original REC (quarantine)- was amazing.
FIDO was very well done.
Dance of the dead was low budget but fun to watch.
and I've heard good things about ' Dead Set' but haven't seen it yet- 6 episode 'what if' in which the big brother house is assaulted by zombies. (They're cut off from the world so don't realize z-day is here)
Well, seeing as we haven't had any zombie attacks yet, I have no real input...
I will test it though, could be a good read just in case.
A barcode to scan in OP would be nice.
Anyway, trying it out
I thought dead set was pretty good, not my favorite, but certainly better then a lot of the other zombie movies that are around.
If there some sort of guarantee?? If I spend 99 cents and end up being a Zed I'm going to want my $$ back or the equivalent in brains depending on how Im feeling.
With the android market you always have 24 hours to cancel after your *first* purchase for a full refund.
If it's longer than that and you feel like I truly put out crap, I'll do whatever I can to help you. I suggest going with the 24 hour route since I feel at the very least I am responsive.
Any relation to the book The Zombie Survial Guide by Max Brooks? If so, I'd gladly give up my $0.99
The only relation is in the general theme.
Brooks did a good job but created a backstory for his type of zombie with the fictional Solanum virus. It also assumes the role of a world which has already had outbreaks particular to his class of zombie.
This app goes with a more generalized focus on survival, also using portion of the army survival guide for wilderness survival for its 'on the run' section. I.E.- Finding food in a desert environment, or avoiding heat casualties / frostbite related injuries in a desert/arctic environment respectively.
The cultural overview is something I'm always looking out for, zombie like creatures and references throughout history. I've received some feedback but would love it if more people emailed with little tidbits

Asphalt 5

Asphalt5 is a pure arcade racer. It combines the smash 'em elements of Burnout and the hardcore racing thrills of Ridge Racer into a sometimes silly but always manic speeder. If you go into this expecting a precision driving sim along the lines of Real Racing, you will be severely disappointed. But if you download Asphalt 5 with the expectation of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride with Ferraris, you will be suitably satisfied.
You are hard-hearted if you are not immediately impressed with Asphalt 5's zillion-dollar looks. As always, Gameloft delivers standout production values. The game stretches across several continents, delivering racing scenes in some of the world's most recognizable metros, like Rio de Janiero and Las Vegas, as well as lovely outdoor scenes such as Aspen. Every location is bright and loaded with detail. The car models are excellent, too. From the starting Mini Cooper S to the Ferrari 599 XX, Gameloft has done a stellar job recreating these vehicles. It's amazing that an iPhone game can easily outpace many PlayStation 2 racers in this department.
But Asphalt 5 is more than the prettiest girl at the dance – although the game has plenty of those, too. (Gameloft loves the ladies. You unlock female companions as you race through career mode.) The tilt steering is very well done. I have few complaints about the level of responsiveness, although you can be too severe with your tilting, though. It is easy to over-correct a turn or veer too wildly to avoid oncoming traffic, but a little practice cures this. There are multiple control options, but I recommend the default tilt steering above all of them as you only need to worry about tapping a brake and nitro button. As mentioned, Asphalt 5 is an arcade racer, so do not expect real-world physics. Occasionally, Asphalt 5 feels like a pinball game – but it never sells itself as a serious racer, so this is hardly a fault. In fact, since I usually prefer games like Burnout and Daytona USA over Gran Turismo, I found this endearing in Asphalt 5.
Asphalt 5's career mode offers a host of different events, from straight races and time trials to drift contests. You collect dollars in many events, too, to boost your bottom line and buy new rides. The only event I had trouble with was cop chase where you need to eliminate a set number of rivals, Burnout-style. Now, I'm not expecting a game to roll over and take it, but the computer-controlled cars are way too psychic when it comes to avoiding your incoming swipes. Perhaps if Gameloft dialed back the number of eliminations required or at least made the rival racers a little less clairvoyant, these events wouldn't be so dreaded by the second hour of play. Now, you can choose the events you want to play to get through a lot of career mode, but eventually you are forced into one of these events and it just brings the fun to a screeching halt.

Sorry, but you aren't allowed to post warez on this forum.
(I know that you already have, but you know what I mean...)
I think that you should remove the file, before a mod tells you to.
Reported.
Please refrain from posting Warez on XDA.
Support Android development. It's not like the apps are that expensive. We want to keep XDA online, and posting illegal files can cause legal problems for the forum administration.
Warez... hmmmm!!!
I don't want to sound like a complete ass but not all of us can access the services offered on "Play Now".. i got the apk via xda forums
To saltorio this is your spec:
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10a | Android 1.6 | Baseband: 1.1.31 | Build: R2BA026 (ROOT)
You rooted your phone!!!!... you have altered the phones "rom"... and yet there are issues with "warez?" ... just one crazy person whispering in the wilderness
Still we should all support the developers where we can
Surely it would make sense for a Mod to remove the file and replace it with a link to the site?
The review is not too bad.. just a shame the idiot attached the game!

Go post a thread about this in General and see what other have to say about your comparison. Please.

Kingdom Conquest - Ultimate MMORPG Card/FPS/City Game

If you are a RPG nut then I wanted to tell you about a little known gem on the play store. It is called "kingdom conquest" and is HUGE in japan. It is made by SEGA (so you know it's good).
The game has FPS elements (dungeons to run which nets you "draws"). You use the draws to acquire cards. These cards have skills on them. You can level the cards up, level the skills up, and at certain levels the cards can be used to synth the skills to other cards. Ultimately you build units of three cards each with their own skill sets. All the while you are creating a base and expanding your territory.
Unlike other card battle games, this game has crazy sim city elements. You start on this HUGE map with up to 20,000 other players. You fight territory and also "towers" which reward you with DP (daily points). You can use the DP in the auction to buy cards.
Then you can join alliances (i.e., guilds) with up to 100 players. You can battle other guilds and fight for something called "debris towers." There are 8 of them per world and they are CRAZY hard. The world you join usually lasts for 6 months (about the time it takes for the 8 debris towers to be captured). At that point in time, the alliance in control of the most debris towers wins. Then special super rare cards are distributed to the winners. But the best part? It doesn't end there! That 6 month period is called "season 1" and when it ends "season 2" begins. All land, bases, etc is erased but you can keep your cards. So you basically start fresh in a new world, with harder monsters, but with your existing cards that you can continue to level up...
I could go on and on for hours about how in depth this game is... if you have any questions just ask here. But the game is so crazy in depth it has its own forum with thousands of posts/answers. The best part? You don't have to drop a dime on the game if you don't want. If you get good, you can be ranked #100 in the world without spending any money.
Wet your appetite? Download it from the play store and when you register please use the following referral code in the game.
It will reward both you and I with a RARE card.
Referral code: 7fdbcF3.
If you have any questions about the game, just ask away. I will try my best to answer them.
Also, join World 11. It just opened a few days ago and so everyone is starting fresh. Tons of DP to get!
There is still lots of time to join up in World 11! If you have any questions, just post them here.

[Q] Tower Defense Game

Hello fellow Developers, I am currently developing a TD game for WP7 and would like to ask you what kind of features you expect form such game the most? We're still at a point , where we can add some features so we are curious what non-obvious features( for the genere) we could add
a cheat mode! theres nothing like haveing an infinite amount of money to bulid whatever you like and stack it up against never ending waves enemy units that get larger and more numerious to see how long you can last
i like to see stff blow up
Challenge modes, where you replay the level but it's harder in some way, are a great way to add replayability to a game without substantially increasing the development cost. A few examples of challenge modes for a TD:
Not allowed to build tower <X>.
No tower upgrades (or not past a given level).
No selling towers.
Enemies have 10% more health.
Enemies move 10% faster.
Enemies give 10% less money (or towers and upgrades cost more).
When an enemy dies, it heals the ones around it (favors single-target high-damage attacks vs. splash or attrition).
When an enemy takes damage, it instead takes half that much damage and other adgacent enemies take the rest (favors splash).
Enemies move slower but are far more tough.
Enemies move much faster but are weak.
Enemies regenerate health slowly.
More enemies per wave (with or without the usual extra money from more kills).
Waves come closer together, possibly as a continuous stream.
Strengthen one tower type (possibly not the obvious one to use on a level) and weaken the rest.
Force people to buy upgraded towers (i.e. you build level 2 towers, at the full combined cost, instead of lev1 at the basic cost).
Run the overall game faster (force the player to think and react quicker).
Money slowly drains when not being used.
You start with less money.
You start with a few pre-built towers, but very little (or no) money.
Give no money for kills within a wave until the whole wave is dead (or reaches the exit).
Have enemies that reach the exit cost the player some money.
Towers build and upgrade slower.
Most of these are pretty easy to implement, code-wise. They could be done individually or in combos. There could be extra perks for completing them (for example, you might get more points if there's a leaderboard or something). You can eaither add pre-designed challenges for each level, or allow players to select their own challenges. Challanges don't even have to actually be harder, just different. In fact, some of the things I've suggested would be perfectly reasonable core game mechanics, helping to separate your TD game from the rest.

Beaver Karts: More than Driftwood?

The Lowdown
I was looking for something fun to play on phone and I came across this. It was free in the app store so I figured that I’d lose nothing by trying it out. The first thing that I noticed was the cover art which presented itself as cute and colorful. I wondered if this would translate to the game as well since, for me, cute is almost always a good thing. As I downloaded the app, I kept wondering about how silly the entire concept was. I thought to myself, “What is the point of such a weird game?” The game revolves about you being a Beaver with his own custom wooden cart. Apparently, this Beaver has a nasty need for speed and spends his time travelling downhill (and aiming for an X-games promotion) in his cart. To make things interesting, you can perform an assortment of tricks such as wheelies and flips.
Learning the Ropes
The game is pretty basic. You will have to guide the Beaver on his downhill descent as you perform a series of tricks. You have 2 buttons to control the cart: tilt forward or tilt backward. Tilting the cart backward, for instance, will allow you to ride on only 2 wheels (classified as a wheelie) and will grant you bonus points. Doing a tilt after a jump will make the cart flip which is worth massive points (given that you land safely). You will also have to collect gold coins on the downhill path to glory. One thing to remember is that you have a limited amount of fuel to burn during the stage and this is what limits your journey.
Gold collected will determine the types of upgrades you can afford for tricking out your Beaver cart. I’m not sure if these upgrades affect the performance of your vehicle or are purely aesthetic in nature. Take note that before starting a stage, you have 3 specific goals that you can opt to do during your downhill run. Accomplishing them grants you bonus gold and that’s what you want to do in order to earn more and upgrade your cart.
There are power-ups in the shop which you can purchase with gold or purple acorns. I guess that is the premium currency for the game which you can buy with real money. Some of the powerups that can make your run more interesting.
Not a Wallet Hurter
I got the game for free in the app store. Not bad since you get to you can try it out at no cost.
What I think
I like the game due to the simplicity of its graphics which comes out as a cute cartoony experience. It is simple yet entertaining. Unfortunately, it is far from perfect. I find a big lack in terms of customization. There are only a few choices of upgrades to choose from (around 5 per category). Also, you are stuck with the beaver. Not that I don’t like him or anything but, I would very much want to see a giraffe try to cart. Some mini-games would also help break the monotony that comes after a while.
I suggest keeping this at hand during lull times. This might In fact, it might be worth using while waiting for the bus, waiting for your food in restaurants, or during your breaks to the bathroom.
This is actually a good game. Challenging yet fun at the same time.:good:
Tried this one out but the game is too challenging for me. It was hard controlling the beaver's kart. I always crash and burn. Poor beaver.
I thought the game was for kids, it was hard to control at first but eventually I got a hang of it. It was actually fun.
I've downloaded this game a few weeks back and was surprise that you made a review about this game. I totally agree with the points that you have stated in your article. The game is fun but hard at first. Luckily, I was patient enough to keep on playing the game until I got a hang of it.
groan RExesd
My curiosity got the best of me and I've downloaded this game. It is frustrating at first but since I am really competitive I wanted to perfect my every run. Now, I can double backflip and frontflip. I'm aiming to perfect my wheelies and to achieve a triple backflip/frontflip. :highfive:
