Is there a how to on changing your Sense lock to AOSP? - EVO 4G Themes and Apps

Title pretty much says it all. I've been hopping from mod to mod, theme to theme, framework to framework to get exactly what I want in my phone aesthetically. I'm using this frame right now: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12131447&postcount=37210
The guy who ported was kind enough to point me to this AOSP lock that worked, but didn't quite match what I wanted to accomplish. I'm really looking for this lock, and if not then just a straight up AOSP lock.
As I said, I've tried just about every combo possible but everything takes something away that I want to keep. I tried the how to theme thread, and it was a great resource but only offered advice on how to change the png on HTC's lock; something I'm not particularly interested in.
Is there a howto on how to get this accomplished myself? I've looked everywhere, but I can't find anything. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

You can just use root explorer to rename your HTC lockscreen to something else to get the vanilla lock

Do you know which files get accessed when it reverts back to the lockscreen then? I did what you said, and it basically gave me the same version that I linked to before. Even if I can extract the files and alter them myself, I feel like I'll be accomplishing something. I just don't know where it draws from.

That I'm not sure of

I definitely asked for a paid app which will put a bandaid over the real issue here.

Further into it if you scroll up anything with ic_jog will be your buttons like the Lock icon and Vibrate icon on the tabs/rotary.

If you're still having trouble with this.. post your framework-res.apk...and we'll get it working as a flashable zip for thee.

Exactly what I needed man, thanks. I pretty much ninjamorphed whatever he had with CM's and it looks great. the only thing I'm missing is the "unlock" text over the bar. I know that's nitpicky, but do I just reopen the sliding tab and print it on there myself?
thanks again guys. everyone should learn this.

Ok, I seem to have spoken too soon. I successfully did it, but now for whatever reason my camera FCs now. Would someone mind slipping the aosp lock/clock into my framework if I attach? a thousand thanks to anyone that can, because clearly I'm not meant to, lol

Well here's my framework, just in case soneone can work a little magic. Id truly appreciate.

He wasn't trying to be a ****. It's a very flexible and effective way to change your lock to just about anything including a ton of custom locks. Well worth $1.99 to people who want a high degree of customization and control over their lockscreen.

Why not purchase widgetlock? You can switch between aosp lc and lense lc. Just my opinion

First off, I love your work on this. The whole theme is great, and the only reason I keep trying to Frankenstein this one in particular is because I love the black on-screen notifications over that HTC grey. Unfortunately when I replaced frameworks I bootlooped :-/
@the other two previous to this post: I don't want to do that because its unnecessary. I don't need to spend money on a bandaid when I (with the help of others here) can go into the filesystem and do it myself.

Ya. Like i said, I would typically just rename the HTC lock but i was looking for a more stock screen as opposed to the theme one.

[Morph] Vibrate Android +1[Morph] Android email

Ok so this is very basic and its only my second morph but i think its really funny and i had a good time making it and i havent seen anyone else have this
so anyway if you cant really tell what it is
its a little android vibrating instead of the default phone
if you dont like it sorry but if you want it feel free to have it
its not that good i know haha
im kinda proud cause its my first full morph
and thank you to knowfear for his awesome tutorial on making these things
Alright another simple morph kinda the same concept haha but its basically a android guy spitting out an gmail envelope
its a notification icon also i just changed the sms notification to dark blue, you can take that out tho is you want YAY!
Love it. Thanks.
@michaelo147
Nice background.
Where can i download this ?
if you're on cyanogen's rom
menu > wallpaper > 2nd one ...
I use CM, but i did not have the wallpaper.
Way cute. It'll look even better on a black status bar (which I have).
Any way you can change the gray/black vibrate bar/rings on the sides of the android guy to white? Would look better for the black status bar peeps like myself.
Thanks!
I kanged you and made a black bar version, hope you don't mind
Wu-Kang Clan!
Re: [Morph] Vibrate Android
I really do not mind, anything you guys can do to help each other out or help me out its chill with me, I'm still. fairly new so I have a lot to learn but I'm glad you guys like it, I really just want to have fun with this, so do it up, post yours with the white vibrate lines if you want

Yeah but you also renamed the zip file, so you need to rename the .thm file inside the zip to match it.
Ie, Black-morph.zip and Black-morph.thm.
Right now you have just morph.thm.
Ahh I fail. I re-upped the zip. Thanks gimp!
Messed with it some more and added silence.

When someone takes your work and takes credit for it.
Ohh so that's the definition of kanged i was wondering about that! Well in that case, i guess if it's for everyone's benefit and not just for people to gloat about credit then i guess being kanged is good! lol

[ROM]GreenMachine_DC.mod(updated to DC_3.2.3)

THIS IS THE GREEN MACHINE DC+ MOD
(its a rom not a theme)
**LINK UPDATED TO DC_3.2.3 on 7/9**
I saw damages newest release yesturday, so i put this little mod together for myself so i could check it out. I can never just flash the plain rom anymore, w/o modding it first, so when im done i just take out the paid apps and then ul for others that may like it. pps were asking me for a green mod so this is what i did. Its damage, just skinned with a new rosie, htc weather clock, themed lockbar, status bar header, status bar bottom, and changed font to comfortaa. I also fixed my EVO modded main nav scroller.Make sure you check out the new suped up dconfig ui. its sharp.
Here Is Exactly what is added app wise
Utilities:
(these are all VERY small, but VERY useful apps)
androzip
autokiller
systray(for ram)
battery widget(batt%)
oc widget
wireless tether
mount usb
dual mount
spare parts
Keyboards:
htc_ime mod
DroidX
htc_green slide
Dialer:
dialer one
LWP:
4 touchwiz
1 nex mod
1 starfield
LAUNCHERS:
ROSIE_MOD(ME)
TOUCHWIZ(testing)
ADW(only non-sense launcher i use)
ALL but the htc_kb can can be removed from Data/app BTW
EVERYTHING ELSE IS WHAT CAME IN THE DAMAGE RELEASE
WHY NOT POST THIS IN THEMES?
because i always have a **** ton of problems with pps trying to flash to the wrong rom then blame me, so i just do the dirty work and set it up for you so all you have to do is flash the rom;i add everything so you dont have to even sign into google to get started(if you flash as much as i do youll understand)
SCREENS
IF YOU LIKE THIS MOD GIVE THANKS TO:
DAMAGE&TREVE=BASE ROM
LCARS=AWESOME BOOT
ME=BEING ADDICTED TO MODDING
PLEASE KEEP THE THREAD CLEAN THIS IS FOR THOSE THAT HAVE FLASHED THE ROM AND HAVE CRITIQUE FOR IMPROVEMENT OR ISSUES; NOT TO COMPLAIN BECAUSE YOU DONT LIKE ME. NO ONE HERE CARES ABOUT THAT. THANK YOU
If you are more fond of the espresso rosie go HERE and pick up the zip.

Yeah, i can do that, i used to hate the factory rosie but now i love it because i can do SO many things to it. To a mod freak like me, thats where its @. The other rosie is pretty basic. I like to replace it using my own shapes, but if you want it what color? my buddy drew wants it too. Colors are pretty limited to Black or a type of green between dark green and neon green. Lemme know. Glad you like it.

The easiest way to do that and the way i do, is to get ur setup perfect, then nandroid. Verify the nandroid. WIPE. Flash the new rom. Set it up to ur liking. Nandroid. REPEAT(this requires some space on sd and hd to backup).I wish it was that easy. If i could whip them up id have every color When i have some inspiration, ill be working on a blue next, if i have time maybe ill try and spit out two themes @ once. pm you when its/they are finished.
Like i explained in ops, i setup the whole rom so you get everything working the way its supposed to. Easier on everyone. If you dont like my work, just nandroid. You wont need it any time soon though

You can get it but on phone it is rather difficult to dl a 180mb file w/o corrupting the dl by slow data transfer speeds & combo of what type of sd you have it saving to. I can gurantee it works from pc and that is your best bet. I cant count the roms ive dl'd but never once have i dl'd with phone directly. I actually assume it would not complete and just waste my time. Sorry about that. If i knew another way id gladly share. If you have any other issues ill try my best to get you up and running.

Honeycomb Style Lock-screen

Hey all,
Want a HONEYCOMB style lockscreen?
Try this one. It looks really close, if not the same.
Works for 2.2, 2.2.1, 2.3.3
GSM & CDMA
*Known bugs
Some user experience a "double lockscreen" this is being worked on. This bug is on all versions paid or free. Reboots sometimes works, or stop the lockscreen and start it again from in app settings.
works landscape and portrait.
SRRY, forgot to ad the thanks, until reminded. Thanks, SunPengfei
I have found that this version works best in our tabs.
Feel free to update through market, but, again,I found this earlier version works best.
Enjoy.
Or get the paid version on the market, although I dont see any difference. (especially if your rom has an adblocker or adfree)

Thank you for pointing it out that I forgot to ad thanks.
ps, is your nin theme available for htc desire?
WOW! This was what i was looking for (I just really wanted an auto rotating lockscreen) !
I've found a few things:
The status bar is still openable
There isn't an option to make the wallpaper see-through. Meaning we cannot see the live wallpaper beneath it.
The lock circle gets cut off when moved to extreme points.
Not deal breakers and considering its actually pretty good as is, I can live with those things maybe there will be fixes and additional features!
Thanks!

Question + Cool Hint

I finally got my computer working again, so I have some questions regarding rom cooking. Would I need permission to use ayOteddy's "Stock [email protected] Deo Rooted" as a base for my roms. And If I really wanna get into this, some recommendations for ideas even if I dont use them?
ALSO. Its well known that we do not really have a soft lanscape keyboard, no matter what keyboard used, right? Well that's wrong. Its been awhile since Ive used this keyboard, I used it on my old Optimus T actually, however, the keyboard known as "Hacker's Keyboard" has an option to always view the landscape keyboard even if a hardware keyboard input is present. Just thought you all would like to know that I figure my little discovery could be useful to you all ^_^ Welcome.
*** One more thing, does anyone know ways I can change the settings options and navigation + links? Like, the Theme Settings space for example?

I actually used KJ2 for TigerFusion without permission. I figured since ay0teddy retired long ago, he would not reply to my PM. I think as long as you give credit to him it should be fine.
I recommend using ASimmons Theme Injector if you want to port over a theme. Just remember that the Sidekick 4G uses hdpi. What I did for Froyo Iced Up was just change one letter in the apk.....the m in mdpi to h. If you don't do this, the result will be a brick. I had to use Odin to flash back to stock....lol.
And remember that the Bali kernel with keylogger removed will only work on KJ2. You can actually extract the zip and copy the contents from the kernel_flasher folder right into the update folder of your kitchen project.
Thanks for the keyboard app recommendation. I'll definitely try it out! Good luck with the rom cooking. :good:

Re: Thanks RicAndroid I was actually gonna theme the rom from each file individually though ^_^ and I could also use some help with another thing. How do I get the extended power menu? 0.0
Hats off to ayoteddy, sduvick, and krylon for the work they did. When all is said and done, those are really the people that pushed things forward and got the Sidekick 4g a couple useful 3rd party kernels.
As I recall, ayoteddy shared his stock deodexed rom so other people could have some fun cooking up their own custom. So, just credit him and move on. I don't think he'll be upset at all.
Make sure to also credit krylon and sduvick in anything you do. If you dig back into the forum, you'll see that they worked together.

That was way tricky. You need to add three pngs to the drawable-hdpi folder after you decompile the framework-res.apk.... reboot, reboot_ recovery and download. Then edit the strings.xml folder.... after that, it gets pretty hairy. I'll send you a pm with all the steps needed to configure the android.policy.jar file.
Oh, and thanks for the advice orange808!

As for TouchWiz....ugh...I personally hate it. Why not go with Go Launcher? It is a bit on the hefty side but is very theme-able!

That is a great idea not gonna draw conclusions yet, but the whole green color seems to look nice on the SK. And I used to love Go Launcher, but it became so chock-ful of ads and weird buying with credits and just....it became a bit too much I think? I might poke around and try to find an older version of ADW and just break the market link so it doesnt upgrade to the new one. Which by the way, I wanted to suggest in case Holo Launcher starts to get old for you, it looks alot like the ICS update, spare the icons. But with a theme installed its gotta be the best ICS launcher I've seen yet IMO anyway.

Learning
Well, I tryed to set up the EPM for Sidekick from scratch. No go, it's different than a lot of other devices it seems. Could anyone direct me with this a little? Please? It would be awesome because I really want to learn some while building this.
I know I have a lot of questions, but believe me, I appreciate it more than you know and I love the community for all its provided help. I have one more:
Which file happens to be for the notification background? Have tried a few but see no differences :/
It is amazing how PDT and ayoteddy got all of this working. I tried editing the classes.dex file on my own, but it seems that the Sidekick 4G is a freak mutation of some sort.
I wound up taking a shortcut and used GenericGinger's android.policy.jar file. I edited the GlobalActions.smali file using Notepad ++ and added the reboot info from the public.xml located in the framework.

Then make em useful posts instead of blabbing in random posts... if there is time to shoot the **it, then there is time to help. Just do some searching or redirecting. Or, post some opinions on someones theme or app or whatever, then they could use that feedback for the better rather than some random post.
Just saying, could be doing other things bud. Not to sound like a jerk or any bad way that can be taken. Good-luck with the posts.
Dude...you still working on this?

Mod nav buttons?

Is there any way to change the nav keys to be smaller and add a menu button?
pretty much all custom ROMs have this, but there aren't any stable ones yet, and I am thinking there might be a framework.res or systemui.apk mod I can make to at least do that much. I hate those big buttons taking up my screen real estate..
I also want to be able to mod this, but it looks like it requires a ROM.

The Nexus 4 had a flashable zip that just modified some framework files I believe that you could flash over stock before this was incorporated into every major ROM.

You could download softkeyz from the play store. It's great for edition the nav keys if your phone is rooted. I use it all the time on my n4.

It'll definitely come, but you're gonna need to be patient. A LOT of people don't even have the phones in their hands yet. Give it a few weeks, let the devs get a chance to work on the phone, and then you'll start seeing the customization options.

Well I'm not looking for spoon feeding. If someone did it for the Nexus 4, just a tip on which files to mod etc..
In jellybean the navbar pngs were in systemui/res/drawable-*dpiHere*
They're named something like
ic_sysbar_home.png iirc.
You could try editing them in Ps and replace the old ones with edited ones.

That's the info I was looking for, I'll go ahead and decompile systemui.apk and go from there.
Interested in this also. If I could just shrink down the size that would be good enough. I had a zip for my ATT LGG2 that did this perfectly. But not sure it will work on N5?

Does Softkeyz allow you to adjust the size of the keys too or just color and arrangement etc?
Thanks

It simply changes the actual image (png file) of the softkey, so if you select an image that is smaller, the softkey will subsequently be smaller.

Honestly i can't remember but i think it allowed custom images so my guess is you can make an image within a size limit and it should be fine if you cant change the size of the standards.
I have set my n4 back to factory for my girlfriend and my n5 doesn't have it on yet so can't check right now.

Softkeyz doesn't appear to support 4.4 yet.
I'll gladly donate to anyone who can shrink down the navbar size on the Nexus 5. And/Or make it transparent on third party launchers. (Nova)
Here's the thread from the LGG2. I doubt it's too hard to do.

Check out Candyshop thread in the Themes section, looks really promising right now.

You can use UDN or SoftKeyZ . Both of these work flawlessly
