[Q] Gpad G30 Rom or Update? - General Questions and Answers

A friend purchased The MID Gpad G30 (Don't ask me why)
(Since I can't post a link go to Google and search for "MID Gpad G30" and it is the first link)
Can't seem to find much of ANYTHING on it for trying to install custom roms. It is very very slow when trying to select or scroll through anything. The video playback was surprisingly good and the camera and camcorder were very surprisingly responsive, but anything else was painful.
Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas of things I could do to get it to at least FROYO 2.2? It has 2.1 but I think 2.2 would be better on it. Or are there any other suggestions to try and make this tablet usable?
It is laughable how slow it is, but then it shows signs of life every once in awhile.
Thanks!

No way of trying to put on a build that is currently out there? This thing needs something!

[Q] Gingerbread or Stock Google Froyo? Just out of curiosity.

Before you read this and blast me for being impatient I want you to know that this is purely a question and I am truly grateful for all the developers we have working on the Charge Development.
Being that this is my first smartphone, I don't really know how long development takes and how much work goes into it. So my question is, how long before we see a Gingerbread ROM? Do the developers have to wait until a test build is leaked for the phone from Samsung or is development probably going on right now?
What about a Google Stock Froyo experience (you know without Touchwiz or Launcher Pro or anything like that)? I've heard a lot of people who like the Google experience better than anything else so I'm just wondering if that is in the works?
Once again I'm not trying to get on anyone's back I'm just purely wondering if these things are in development or if we will ever see these on the Charge.
Thanks
For most devices, especially CDMA, going from the ROM that shipped with the phone to a working AOSP ROM (Google Experience if you will) takes several months. With Samsung phones, it takes longer from what I've seen. The biggest problem that anyone trying to do this will encounter is the dual-RIL (needed for cell radios), and could be what prevents a full AOSP ROM from ever happening. A lot of people would love AOSP, but it is much easier said than done.

[Q] From CM to OEM MT3G OS

I have been searching the forums for a while now and i cant seem to find a clear cut way to achieve this. So many of the rom threads have grown WAY BEYOND search ability. Here is what i want to do.
I have the Mytouch 3g "Fender" (3.5mm Jack). I currently have Cyanogen Mod 6.1(im pretty sure its x.1)
I want to go back to the DEFAULT os (Froyo aka 2.2 i believe it is). I was the one who rooted and flashed my phone however i am by no means an expert. I jsut followed directions. I want to be sure i dont brick my phone(i know there is always a chance if the user is an idiot or impatient etc etc).
Can anyone point me to the correct file(s) needed. Maybe perhaps proved a step by step guide? Do i need to flash my radio again? New Kernal? Gapps?
FWIW, the reason i want the stock OS is because after using CM, ive noticed the phone deteriorates in terms of performance and responsiveness.
If someone wants to talk me out of this or maybe wants to point me to a mod that is better(more reliabe, better performance) that would be fine as well. I know the MT3G is old and not really a super fast phone, but loading google.com on my wifi connection shouldnt cause the phone to freeze. And when i click one app icon it shouldnt bring me to my messaging app.
TL;DR. I have CM6. Performance deteriorates over time. I want my Stock(OEM) Rom/OS/RUU(whatever its called). Need steps and files please.

WIND MOBILE XT720 users

Hey people,
This is for us Wind phone users.
SFB is to bring the phone back to a pre-OR rooted state correct?
So we have one for our phones?
If someone has an 2.1 nandroid of just after they rooted and OR installed.. I would really like it.. I think I lost my original.
James
Here's the Stock Wind ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20930893&postcount=59
thank you! I did not find that post in my searches.
I tried to load some of these fake ICS like rom builds last night and crashed the phone.
So I had to go back to stock.. used the Brightpoint SBF .. worked fine, and you know.. after all the playing I have done with the phone.. it was simple and FAST.. but then quickly 2.1 eclair became too simple and I remember why I am playing with ROMS
James
Which ROMs are you playing with? I agree, 2.1 is just not developed enough but 2.2 seems to be perfect for this device. I've played with the CM6 Rom (which would give me random freezes) and the Bravo one (which I'm currently using and is my personal favourite).
you need to keep an eye on the apps you have running in the background
that's why you experience those random slow downs, it doesn't actually freeze
unless you really mean freeze as in you need to wait for more than 5 minutes and still not back to normal and need to take out the battery to reboot
because if it's so, then i don't have that problem
Thanks for the rom I need this.
CM6 was the first I installed and I can't rule out the possibility that it slowed down on me but bravo seems more stable and more polished, like if the phone came stock with it I probably wouldn't try anything else. Not a lot of eye candy, but our device simply doesn't have the hardware to be so pretty. Plus im not eager to use roms that don't use our hardware (buttons, leds, etc.)
Bravo is a really good ROM, no need to apologize.
Hmm I didn't mean to sound like I didn't appreciate CM6. I can understand why so many like it, and I am glad there are people who are willing to give some time to make our phones even better than the day we bought them.
I want to give the miui rom a try too. Can anyone comment on its functionality(especially other Wind users)?
Sent from my modded Herotab C8. (genesis) using XDA App
I find that the MIUI rom is a tad slow and unresponsive. The good news is that just about everything works. Lack of memory causes frequent slowdowns and crashes though.
Personally, I've had trouble getting WIND 3g working on everything but CM6, miui and bravo... I don't know why.
hey guys... my question is twofold:
1) i find all the nandroid, sbf, everything a bit confusing... and im just wondering how to use this wind stock rom to bring back my phone to the original wind rom, is it as simple as putting the file into the Openrecovery/Updates folder and booting into Open Recovery and Applying the update? or will just doing that mess things up?
2) a few months back i installed the cm6 rom for xt720, since then ive had huge problems with the radio - such as not being able to make calls or send texts. calls and texts will usually eventually work - depending on where i am, but i have to try them several to several dozen times before they do. i checked out my radio baseband and it is not the same as it should be for wind. will reflashing to this stock wind rom reset my baseband as well? i tried using the baseband update from this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1241685) to reset the baseband, but it didnt actually change it.
thanks for anyone who can answer these (noobish) questions
Not sure if you got a reply or not..
With the original ROM you need to use an SBF - I have it, it has been posted here.
Search and you will find the tools you need to re-flash - you need a windows computer, and some software you can download - a clean original ROM cannot be flashed by OR because OR is not in the phone originally.
2. YES putting the phone back to original will be truly original.

[Q] Detailed tutorial (with pictures) on how to install eclipse/cm7, Droid X2

Hey xda,
I'm new to android. I recently purchased the droid X2 from verizon expecting to have an amazing phone, unfortunately, that's not what I got. What I did get, was a laggy, unresponsive, rebooting, bugged and otherwise annoyingly bothersome piece of electronics.
My main issues are: random shut downs, duplicate messages or empty sent messages, lock screen disappearing so I can't unlock my phone, drastic slowdown, and finally the luck having my music player messed up.
Through my research I have found that solutions to these problems can be achieved by installing a community OS made by people who truly care about how the phone works for the end user. My two favorites so far (from reviews) are eclipse and cm7.
As far as I can tell, I can't use Eclipse because I run 2.3.4 and I am unable to update to 2.3.5 (I have no knowledge of how to do so nor do I want to brick my phone by doing something I shouldn't be). Cm7 however, supports 2.3.4 and has solid reviews. Unfortunately, there are little to no detailed tutorials on how to go about installing this OS. There is >>http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1315711 and the cm7 install tutorial (21 lines of install this, then this, but don't do this, but do this, btw this might break your phone)
What I'm asking for is if anyone here knows of an extremely detailed tutorial for installation of cm7 on an x2 running 2.3.4 (preferrably with pictures) and that won't brick my phone)
Thank you

What can be done with my UK MZ601 nowadays

I have an old Xoom MZ601 with 3G and is running 4.0.4. and according to the tablet she is bang up to date  .
So i have come here to see what i can do to her to bring up to date a wee bit more, but it's not looking.
I have seen a few ROM but most seem to be missing the files to root or flash let alone the ROM image itself, can anyone shed some light for me on what is the best route for me i only use the tab for a wee bit of surfing/emails and the odd movie now and then.

I found the OmniRom 4.4.4 to be a bit slow, even overclocked....
You could put the US stock firmware on there to get it up to 4.1.2 perhaps?
I quite like the UK 4.0.4 as YouTube is nice and smooth but it does struggle to load newer software (Mobdro would be nice).

Been looking myself for something light weight to run on my old Xoom. It's to old now though and I can't find any links to re set it back to the original system , but I think even that won't help.
Well that was strange. After starting it up after 12 months it tried to update Google and failed now it just hangs at boot saying Starting Fastboot and nothing else. Guess it's throw in the bin time.
